morning everyone.....congrats to J for the poo Wilkie, that is a serious acheivement!! all before 7:30. bless him...

i'm getting worried about the picnic, because of this and this any thoughts anyone??

Lizzzombie · 01/05/2007 10:48

UD - I've had a look at the link.
Are you intending on taking placards?
If there is just a (large) group of people BF in public then there is no way anything could happen like that arrest. I am sure of it.
Although...I've never been arrested....might be fun. Seriously though they are never going to arrest mothers with small babies.
We live in a country which promotes the freedom of speech (for most topics) the anti war protestors could have been taunting the police which resulted in arrests. I've seen enough rallies in London to know what they could have been shouting.
The BF picnic will not be like that.
I will take my gun just in case so I can pick off any trouble makers. Does that make you feel better? x

Lizzzombie · 01/05/2007 10:48

That was of course I joke, I am a respnsible mother and do not have a gun. Please do not ban me from this website!

Lizzzombie · 01/05/2007 10:51

btw - Wilkie, I find playing very bad taste music loudly, always helps put a dampenour on other peoples ardour.
Pull out the Grease 2 track "reproduction" and see what happens. (not that I am saying that is the antithisis of bad music, its of course a wonderful classic in my opinion)

(apologies for bad spelling, good job LO is not at school yet!) x

Morning all. Better night from ds1 last night, but crappier one from ds2 instead, just in case I'd been thinking of getting some sleep

Wilkie - lo is causing probs at night, sleep deprivation has to beat all other forms of torture. How's his napping during the day? I find ds2 sleeps badly if he gets either too much or too little daytime sleep (demanding so-and-so). Is he wking for feeds or just scratting? Is he in your room? I hope the change to the different tabs helps, though guess it'll be wee while before you know.

UD - yes I can see how that might cause a little concern. but agree with Lizzz re:placrds. Also would give you more publicity (if you want your boobs on the news ). But the date on that demonstration thing ws 05, maybe they're a little more relaxed now? Longer after the start of the war and longer after 7/7 and all that?

Ahimmer - oaty choc orange bars?? Recipe! Now!

E&H - oh one of those moods....love them . Hope (gainst hopes) she's ok after all with pre-school.

Lizzz - d'you mean one of these?!

RGee - hope the prk is good

LTH - errr, congrats? on the poo!

Nemo - tut tut keep up!

DH - sorry but did a little at him being beaten up by a girl. Bless!

Jodie - that's a great weight gain, well done!

Hi to Hattie and Kat and PCF and anyone I've missed

Lizzz - i'm going to obtain permission from the police just in case. the police don't have to arrest then and there. they can take details and send summons later to avoid the PR disaster of arresting bf-ing mothers at a picnic!

isn't it great living in England today?

Wilkie · 01/05/2007 11:18

Hi Canmummy - join in join in Give us more details please xx

Dragonhart · 01/05/2007 11:30

Well done on all the poo action this morning! No poos from Ruth this morning but plenty of rather unlady like and very stinky farts!

Welcome canmummy and congratulations on your third!

Hope E was ok going to preschool EAH

UD - imagine the fuss if they arrested bf mums! I really wouldnt worry about it. That is unless Lizz starts taking pot shots!!

Shimmer- Orange choc bars! Recipe puurlees!

Dragonhart · 01/05/2007 11:36

2hsppy- Glad night was ok with ds1 but about another crap nights sleep!

UD- as long as no-one is aggressive surly they would have no grounds to arrest anyone?

Dragonhart · 01/05/2007 11:43

Wilkie- How was your night last night? Hope it was better. Has it just started? Could it be a dreaded growth spurt?

katwith3kittens · 01/05/2007 11:46

Wilkie, have you checked behind his ears ?

Welcome to the newbies,

UD, cant believe a peaceful BF picnic would have the same consequences, unless all your feeding bras looked like fembots which might send the security into over drive

Now, I think we should make it our challenge for everyone of us to make up a thread which gets onto the front page. UD and I have started it off, its over to you guys now .......

canmummy · 01/05/2007 13:17

My other 2 are 6 and 4 so eldest at full-time school and dd2 goes to nursery in the afternoon (although at different schools at the moment which makes life interesting!). Absolutely love having 3 but none of my friends have babies so will be nice to catch up and share experiences with other mums with babies the same age. Just caught up with a bit of housework so now lo awake might go for a long walk in the fresh air. What else is everyone up to?

ellieandhattie · 01/05/2007 14:38

Well thats been a morning and a half (sorry welcome to newbies!!)

Got to preschool all was fine walked into preschool tears etc and I hadnt even got her cardigan off, stayed for 15 minutes but she still cried the whole time so Manager suggested I go and see if they could distract her so they warmed Hatties bottle up (was past feed time!) I said bye and went to the car to feed Hattie before coming home. Whilst sitting in the car I could hear her (windows open) crying and saying she needed Mummy, could also hear all the keyworkers encouraging her to join in and being really nice. Preschool manager popped out to see me to check I was ok and we had a little chat about her favourite things etc (told her she loves her cousin Holly and my dad aka Grandad Pip) I felt awful, not for leaving her as I know she'll benefit in the long term but awful for leaving the manager and keyworkers trying to sort her (she is not a quiet crier and I didnt want any other children to be upset) and we agreed that I would go back in an hour (it was 10.15 by this time)

Manager assures me its perfectly normal the fact that she did the whole session last tuesday without me proves she can do it. She just has to learn how to be seperated from me! She promised me that if she was still really crying and asking for me in 15 minutes she'll call me and we'l decide next plan. Got home Laughalot texted as I was in tears and said all the right things (cheers mate) well 45 mins went past no phone call so set off for pre school. Got there had to wait at door (security and all that) and Manager came out and told me that although she hadnt exactly been happy she had stopped sobbing (occasional wobble but not hysterical) and as long as she was with one of the keyworkers she settled and they were happy to spend some 1-1 time with her and gently nudge her into the group they managed to get her to do some ictures for Grandad and Holly and she joined in with the sandwich making and register time. Another keyworker bought her out to me and she burst into tears and said 'thankyou for remembering to pick me up' so it seems the problem is that she thinks I am not coming back but hopefully she'll soon realise I am. Manager also said once she develops a particular bond with one specific assistant they'll make her Ellies keyworker and she'll see that person as me for the preschool session.

We have agreed that in future best I drop her off do the name/coat thing and then find her keyworker give her a kiss and go as it made her worse me being there. But from next tuesday (closed thursday due to preschool used as polling station) she'll do 9.30-10.30 then next time 9.30-10.45 etc etc till shes happy to do 9.30-12. Manager is also going to adjust my bill as she'll not be there the whole session (result thought I'd have to pay).

They were so lovely to me I honestly thought they'd say shes not ready bring her back in September. But they are happy to work with Ellie and make sure she goes at a speed that shes comfortable with and they have made her a chart so she can understand what happens during the pre school day (loves her routine so she'll star to understand why things go away etc etc) so glad we chose this preschool for her and I couldnt do it without their support and helpfulness I didnt think it would be as bad as this and they said this happens to lots of kids but by half term she should be going almost the whole session and hopefully by September she'll be really settled!!

Anyway sorry for the huuuuge post felt better writing all that down

Sorry no personals mushy brain today buthope everyone ok

Shimmer · 01/05/2007 14:40

Hmmmm...the trials and tribulations of LTH's LO's poo have kind of worried me...She was celebrating becuase the poo had(and I quote) "edges and a shape". Does everyone elses LOs poos have edges?? Freddie's never do, they're always very liquidy. Is that diarrhea (sp??????) then? I just asummed liquid goes in so liquid comes out? Am I wrong?

Shimmer · 01/05/2007 14:45

Glad to hear you and Ellie survived the morning EAH. The school sounds excellent, and it must be a great relief to think you can really trust the staff there. I'm sure things can only get easier for you both

2Happy · 01/05/2007 15:33

((Shimmer ds2 has never done anything other than liquid, and even ds1's are more often squidgy than solid. Think every one is different (child I mean, not poo!))

E&H - how difficult for you . You sound like you're doing really well, it is so hard hearing your child crying for you, really well done focussing on all the positives - it is good for her, and she will get used to the fact that you're coming back to get her. The group sounds really good too, so you know she's going to a great place. Another few mornings and she'll be breaking your heart another way - by trotting in happily with her new friends and without a backwards glance for Mummy.

God, toddler group. Why are some mums so poisonous?!
"Your ds1 doesn't seem himself,"
"No he's overtired" (explains big boys bed saga)
"Oh, well Jordan's been in his big boys bed since he was 8 or 9 months old" (preen, preen)
"That's nice" ()
Followed by ds1 falling off the climbing frame backwards and hitting his head on the climbing pole.

Seems to be the day for poo stories .... DS was quite happily bouncing (well, swaying really) in his door bouncer this morning when I noticed something on the floor next to him. Imagine my horror when I went over to find that what was on the floor next to him was poo and it was coming out the bottom of his trouser leg . Of course by this time it was also all over his socks and gradually being spread round the floor (thankfully wooden floor, not carpet) - yuk, yuk, yuk!

EAH - sounds like a great school with very understanding staff. I certainly agree with the not staying thing, as long as you know that Ellie's not going to be sobbing the whole time you're gone (which you do from your experience today) it's better to get the separation thing over as soon as possible. At least that's what I found with my DD when she went through a clingy phase when she started pre-school.

Apologies for no more personals, to all

hattie2 · 01/05/2007 16:25

Shimmer - there were certainly no edges or shape to what was coming out the bottom of DS's trouser leg!

LadyTophamHatt · 01/05/2007 16:31

shimmer, sorry about my poo celebration freaking you out... ds4's poo really has been diaoerreah (or however you bloody spell it) 4,5,6,7 times a day.
Sometimes its been so watery the nappy absorbs it!!

This mornings one was still soft and squidgy but it was a proper poo, sort of the consistency of very soft over worked playdoh.

It had edges because it wasn't watery at all.

Baby poo is meant to be soft and squidgy.

Poo lesson over.
