Morning all - new thread as the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts limit.

Not so great this morning - feel like an egg-bound chicken IYSWIM. Grrr - especially as I managed to avoid it all the way through pregnancy. And not sure if there's anything I can take for it while I'm feeding?

Small world isn't it!

Dolly I've felt tearful this last day or two and I'm never tearful...(I'm tough as an old boot usually) Hasan gives big smiles to his bros and sis and rarely to me.

Lunar I hope the wedding goes well for you.

Callie, happy shopping!

Where has Jay got to?

I went to the mile for Maude today, was mad trying to get out on time and find the place but made it! And met some lovely ladies and delightful children. Hasan slept the whole time!

divastrop · 12/05/2007 16:48

fox-i got in with a bad crowd when i first split with ds and dd1's father.i started going out drinking too much and getting into trouble etc.then me and two friends started writing to prisoners, and one friend actually moved this ex-con in with her when he got out.he was the one who nicked my purse.he also burgled my house when i was visiting my mum one time.i stopped talking to them when they started taking heroin...

the time i nearly got arrested was cos i was very drunk and having a screaming match with somebody at the back of a pub

my reasoning is that,as i spent my teenage years being a good catholic girl and never rebelled,i had to get it out of my system in my early 20's.i became a reponsible adult when i turned 25.

i just had a really crap afternoon, with children being little sods and my head pounding

rosy-well done getting to the mile for maude.there wasnt one being done near to me,only carlisle.

sazzybee · 12/05/2007 19:23

diva - I've just been moderately badly behaved all my life - never had the balls to be really naughty

Sorry to hear some of you are having crap days

I've had a good one because my parents came to visit meaning I had time to pressure wash my patio (well strip of concrete if I'm honest ) while they cooed over the baby. Sounds mad but I feel hugely refreshed just to have something else and not had to rush off in the middle of it because he was mithering! I've also discovered he loves his baby gym and will spend close on 45 mins in it More time on mumsnet for me!

Well done rosylily for doing the mile for maude - I'm dead impressed as I'm really bad at planning in advance and getting my act together to be somewhere on time

foxcub · 12/05/2007 20:25

Me too sazzy and Diva

oooh I could tell you some tales about my "yoof" !

Well done Rosy, for getting out there and doing it. There was a walk about 1.5 miles form my house and I didn't manage to attend

divastrop · 12/05/2007 20:52

ive never been really naughty, that was the only brush with the law ive ever had.

where is everybody tonight?

sazzybee · 12/05/2007 21:16

Is it acceptable to secure a dummy to a baby's mouth with an elastic band?

Love my parents but they got him so over-excited during his 'wind down' changing time that he's been crying for an hour and a half

divastrop · 12/05/2007 21:25

no,its not acceptable.sadly, you have to sit there with it in his mouth for hours

CallieNewMum · 12/05/2007 21:40

I'm here! I'm home alone as DP's gone to London, half watching The Long Kiss Goodnight and having a glass of wine. Baby is snurzling in his pram and I'm hoping he doesn't start crying. He's hardly slept today, but apart from a bit of a cry after a feed at 5ish, he's been great.

The NCT sale - oh my god, it's bedlam! It was a nightmare trying to get around it with a pram and then the queue to pay took ages. Jordi started crying slightly as I was in it, so I picked him up and bless him, he was so good. Just looking at me or looking around during the interminable wait. I did get six or seven pieces of clothing for £11 though.

CallieNewMum · 12/05/2007 21:43

Diva, like the stories. It's always the Catholic girls you have to watch - I should know, I was one too!

foxcub · 12/05/2007 22:16

Sazzy - re. the dummy

Callie - ooh go on tell us what you got up to!

I'm not telling but will just let you knwo that I have had all the tatoos removed now!!!

...oh and I did inhale but didn't like it!

divastrop · 12/05/2007 22:28

inhale??dont you mean swallow?

foxcub · 12/05/2007 22:59

or "chase"?

spongecake · 12/05/2007 23:13

hi ladies -what a crap day with the rain. my boy has been sneezing a bit and a little cough just to scare me. he is due his jabs- i guess i postponeo them? he tends to sneeze a couple of times the morning anyway.

well done to those who did the mile for maude i have just put baby to bed and am about to paint my toenails. have vglam friend coming from london for a visit 2moro and although she won;t be inspecting my toes will feel better about myself just for bothering. also dp will like it. have been horrid to him today and must stop, feel v selfish.

diva, my neighbours have taken up the guitar, think know exactly how you felt about yours!

eidsvold · 12/05/2007 23:19

I would postpone jabs until he is over his cold.

well mother's day is here - I have had a lovely breakfast in bed - not! and lovely lie in - not - been up since before7 which is earlier than during the week.

Dh had to go off and help out with marshalling at an extreme triathlon as part of SES volunteering. THankfully that is only until about 11. Don't envy him - come over really cool and showery today.

I did however wake up to lovely flowers - hyacinths in a pot, handmade chocs, a cold chisel CD - those with aussie connections will know who they are - I hope. A lovely card dd1 made at kindy.

The two older dds have been 'drawing' a picture for grandma for us to take later.

They are now watching hi-5 and I am relaxing at the pc.

eidsvold · 12/05/2007 23:19

meant to add - pleased to see a little rain BUT much heavier and more please.

Rosylily · 13/05/2007 07:32

Eidsvold hope you had a lovely day, sounded like a good start with the pressys!

I was the grumpiest cow in the world yesterday..over tired and I'm spotty and feel like I've got horrendous pmt.

Started to watch eurovision but it was too awful and I too grumpy to put up with it, went to bed quite early. Dh woke me at 1.30 and I barked and growled at him!

Been up with the children since 6. Hasan threw up all over himself and the bed. He is bathed and wearing a gorgeous outfit and sleeping. The other two have climbed into hasans baby bath.

The house is full of flies and they are mating so they are planning to deposit some maggots somewhere (I'm still grumpy) I'm going to go to the chemist and get some of that sticky tape that you hang up and all the flies stick to it and die slowly and then you walk into it and your hair sticks to it....

LunarSea · 13/05/2007 07:58

Toby was an absolute star at the wedding yesterday - hardly a peep from him throughout the service or the reception. Everyone was commenting on how good he was, but actually that's pretty normal behaviour from him as long as he's not kept waiting when he's hungry.

Really funny when they had a pianist during the meal - Toby was moving his arms and feet about to the music, and then going still whenever it stopped - he looked for all the world as if he was trying to dance to it! ds1 scrubbed up surprisingly well too (his usual look is "grubby street urchin") and looked very presentable in his new suit and tie. Will try to put pics up later.

What toys are your little one interested in at this stage? Toby loves his wobbly pirate which bounces back up and rings a bell when he pushes it, and a little mirror which he'll stare at for ages, and giggle like mad when he moves his arm and he sees the same happening in the mirror. We've also got a play gym which he will use but isn't such a favouite as the other two yet. I'd like to introduce more variety but am out of inspiration for what would be good at this stage.

Lunar- Hasan plays with the other two little ones, he makes as much noise as they do joining in with them. He loves his bath and he loves song time but when I put him in his round thing with the dangly toys he seems to be bored! Maybe I should try some other toys with him.
The wedding sounds like it went well, and How cute that Toby was trying to dance! looking forward to the piccys!

shanks313 · 13/05/2007 09:17

Hi,

Its good to see how everybody is doing with their babes

We had a busy day yesterday,we went to Isle Of Wight to visit family.I disnt like the very choppy crossing but Deanna didnt care....she was too busy being fed.

Deanna hasnt really got a favourite toy as yet,her favourite thing to do is to dance. She loves being in a standing position and stomping her foot to the music.
Shes still doing well with sleeping, last night was 10-7.
Seeems a little constipated at the moment, anybody got any ideas what to do?

CallieNewMum · 13/05/2007 10:01

shanks, it's the usual advice, but have you tried giving her cooled boiled water? Or you could try massage.

Foxy, I did inhale and usually liked it! no tats to remove though. Tbh, drink was my vice really, started boozing in clubs at 14 cos there was eff all else to do where I grew up. It makes me laugh all this panic about binge drinking like it's such a recent phenomenon, or maybe I was just ahead of my time . Jordi's asleep in pram and I'm contemplating whether or not to grab a nap on the sofa. Think I'll try, and ignore the mountain of washing up in the kitchen and the fact I haven't had a shower yet. Tired today.

eidsvold · 13/05/2007 11:02

another something for constipation that worked with dd1 who had a lot of diuretics when very little... a teaspoon of brown sugar in a lot of water - boil it up, let it cool - give them about 5 - 10 mls. Worked really well for us.

foxcub · 13/05/2007 11:39

Happy Ox=z Mother's Day Eids

Rosy - PMSL about the flies - sorry I know it wasn't meant to be funny..

oh - Monti's yowling - back in a Mo

ps he loves his bath too and dangly things which hang down so he can whack them with his paws!

foxcub · 13/05/2007 11:43

Lunar - glad the day went well - its always a bit nerve waracking taking babies to formal things isn't it?

My auntie died 2 days ago, so Monti will have to come to the funeral!

Good advice about the constipation Eids!

Shanks - I love the Isle of Whight - well only been there once - can you recommend the nice bits as I may go in August?

Callie - did you ever drink snakebites? Cider and lager - we used to live on them as they were the cheapest way to get slaughtered (and very sick).

foxcub · 13/05/2007 11:43

"hands" not "paws"!

thought he'd fallen asleep but is yowling again, back later

LunarSea · 13/05/2007 11:47

Pic of my boys all dressed up on my profile now.
