Morning all - new thread as the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts limit.

Not so great this morning - feel like an egg-bound chicken IYSWIM. Grrr - especially as I managed to avoid it all the way through pregnancy. And not sure if there's anything I can take for it while I'm feeding?

OP posts:

foxcub · 13/05/2007 11:59

Lunar - love the boy's suits.

you baby is really cute!

Monti is sitting on my lap now, looking at MN!!

divastrop · 13/05/2007 12:04

fox-sorry to hear about your auntie.

i used to drink snakebites in the pub when i was 14i didnt see that as rebellious behaviour, though,it was just normal!and drinking isnt exactly frowned upon in the catholic community.i used to sing in the church choir when i was 15 and we all used to go to the pub after mass with the priests

lunar-Elsies favourite thing to look at is a photo i have on the wall of ds2 when he was about 8 months old.she stares at it and smiles and gurggles!

rosy-sorry you are feeling like crap

i am feeling rather shite still.ive been ranting like a madwoman on relationships cos i got fed up biting my tongue last night.i feel like i have pmt,i could happily kill somebody right now

muppethasakitten · 13/05/2007 12:27

Ooooh snakebite and black (same drink but ribena in it made it the original alcopop) marvellous stuff and only 500 calories a glass!

Lunar... how every did you get your boys so lovely and smart! We have a wedding in Italy after the summer... how can i make a 7 year old boy with surfer's hair and a (by then) 6 month boy look glamorous enough to compete with Italian style fashionistas???

Have posted new piccies of the babe (or Jabba the Hut as I like to call him) and his many chins. We have his first injections tomorrow

10 weeks tomorrow and nearly 15lbs

sazzybee · 13/05/2007 13:32

lunar - your boys look v smart and gorgeous and muppet he's edible! What a gloriously fat little buddha! I wouldn't worry about your italian wedding - their idea of nice clothing for kids is a bit weird in my experience - my friend is married to an italian and the stuff his family send over for their DD is frankly odd. You'll be the best dressed there I reckon

Shite weather innit? Eidsvold - we have torrential rain here so you are welcome to borrow some!

Was going to go to a picnic but now I might just go to Waitrose (underground parking) instead. oooh the glamour

Well after me taping his dummy to his head , Elliot managed to sleep for 5 hours twice in a row. I nearly fainted! And he's gone down like an angel this morning too. I've put some laundry on and read the paper! It won't last I'm sure ...

I think he may have cradle cap though - yellow flakes on his head? I've been putting oil on it daily so should I just continue doing that or is there something more I should do?

foxcub · 13/05/2007 13:47

Muppet your baby's skin is lovely - what a handsome chappie

Sazzy - olive oil on head for 20 mins, then comb through to lift the scales off. I tried with Monti but his head was sooo soft Icouldn't get the scales off. I just pick the flakes off when I'm feeding (...nice)

Also, hair may come off with the scales...

foxcub · 13/05/2007 13:48

I think there is a gap in the market for dummies with elastcated straps

divastrop · 13/05/2007 14:57

awww cute photos muppet!its amazing how fast they change in the first few weeks.

its not raining herejust been to the big park(cos ds2 needs a run everyday!)but i still feel bad.my rant hasnt helped,in fact one of the posts has made me even more paranoid

i think i best hide for a few days.

shanks313 · 13/05/2007 16:25

Thanks for the advice about constipation.
We have already tried the boiled water so hopefully will take some effct soon.
Havent got any brown sugar in the house so will try that if all else fails

DollyPopsOut · 13/05/2007 19:47

orgeous pictures lunar and muppet! What beautiful children there are on this thread.

Cradle cap is a bummer. DD1 has still got it and she is 2! I use olive oil on her head from time to time but she moans so much about having her hair washed that I usually let it slide. DD2 hasn't got cradle cap yet but am predicting an influx soon.

Didn't do snakebite myself but used to drink wine by the box or order a bottle in our college bar and ask for just one glass . A straw might have been more appropriate. Could do with a glass now actually. We stopped off in the rain at the tapas bar as both girls were asleep and I had a glass of sherry then with my lunch but figure that I have earned another small glass as that was hours ago.

Diva, sorry you are feeling pants. Rosy, how are you today? I am much less tearful thank god. It really does go in waves doesn#t it? I can sympathise with the PMT thing, I feel very pre menstrual at the moment. With DD1 I didn't have a period until she was 10m old but reckon I'll not be so lucky with this one.

Off to the Cath Kidston seconds sale tomorrow in Battersea. Hope there will be some bargains. I love seconds and charity shops. Oh, and PRimark .

See you later.

DollyPopsOut · 13/05/2007 19:50

By the way, Phil and ted lovers , do you know where I can get the bloody thing mended in london? The press stud attaching the hood at one side has come off and I can't find the bits of paper which came with it.

Thanks

foxcub · 13/05/2007 19:57

Dolly - I'll look at my bits of paper (sure they had NZ contact details though)

you mean P&T break - you mean they're not perfect?

Where is the CK sale (I might come )? Battersea easy dead easy to get to from here on the south circ...

Diva - small boys are like puppies aren't they - need a run each day?

please don't dissappear...

muppethasakitten · 13/05/2007 21:16

Diva - don't hide! Well... you can if you really must but be sure to come back soon!!

Just got a text message from a friend saying "mum's of the world unite... light a candle for Madeleine etc and say a prayer"...

... off to do just that...

divastrop · 13/05/2007 21:31

im not hiding,im just here with my head up my bum, trying to figure a way to get it out.

im getting worried about kitty

shanks-sorry i was too busy wallowing before and forgot to answer you.what milk is she on?massage is the best thing for constipation IME-i can get Elsie to 'produce' within half hour, guaranteed

never found brown sugar or boiled water helped much.ds2 was very bad with costipation till i changed his milk.

shanks313 · 13/05/2007 21:39

Diva-Shes on Cow and Gate sStage 2....well she produced tonight and it was major. Some of her clothes didnt survive the ordeal and we had to bath her for the second time today lol.
Going to start giving her more water as she has had this before on her milk. Will certainly keep massage in mind.

I have been sending emails tnight enquirng about starting music with mummy etc,A few classes for both Deanna and me to get out a few days a week.

Im suffering alot from anxiety at the moment, the worst being that I have developed a fear of choking and find it hard to swallow because my throat tightens. Not very good for eating.

divastrop · 13/05/2007 21:45

shanks-have you been to see your gp about the anxiety?

i didnt give stage 2 milk to my last 3 babies as it made ds and dd1 constipated(i didnt realise it was that causing it untill my hv advised me to change ds2's milk when he got constipated).

shanks313 · 13/05/2007 22:13

diva-Yes I asked my GP about the swallowing etc at my 6 week check and he checked my throat.Just said that it will all go away in time.I have been suffering anxiety alot since Deanna was born.Had to sleep with the light on for a week as I kept dreaming about going dizzy in the dark.
I feel like I never get to relax, have had alot of problems recently with DH job and friends
Just feel lonely as outside my family,I have nobody to talk to.
Im hopng that once we start going to classes etc, both Deanna and I will make friends.

eidsvold · 13/05/2007 22:26

gorgeous pics Lunar

thanks for that foxy - was a good day after all even though dh had to go off in the morning.

We used Aptamil with dd1 and had no problems with constipation once she stopped having to take the diuretics.

dd3 is fab - we are at least getting 6 hours sleep of a night. However we have to feed constantly early evening - from about 5 til 9 and then she goes down to sleep.

please please send the rain. We had a piddly shower yesterday - not worth the effort of even putting the car in the garage for.

TheBlonde · 13/05/2007 22:40

Dolly - I think Daisy & Tom do repairs
If you email the UK distributor they should be able to tell you.. [email protected]

Having a crap time here, baby has been screaming off and on since 5pm, no end in sight

DollyPopsOut · 13/05/2007 23:09

Thanks for that blonde - so sorry your DD is very unsettled. Can DH take her for a bit so that you can have a break?

Foxy - it's at Battersea Arts Centre on Lav hill, just past the police station. Kick off is 1pm. See you there? I won't have my P and T so you can't spot me that way, but will be in pale blue mac with a brown maclaren stroller. I am 5 foot 8, fair / grey hair, quite loud, - do pop over if you see anyone matching that description! I'll be there earlyish I think.

Shanks - sorry about your anxiety. Have you made a list of everything which is making you fret? I find that helps me to see it written down. I suffered very badly from it a few years ago and found lane swimming very soothing. Take care honey and keep posting so we can look after you.

Happy Mohter;s day, eidsvold. Glad dyou had a good one. BTW, what does eidsvold mean? Is is a german word? It sounds very pretty.

Off to get my norks out again for my very serious baby. She has smiled a bit today but not enough! I want her chubby cheeks set in a goorgeous grin!

See you in the morrow XXxx

eidsvold · 14/05/2007 06:31

eidsvold is a place in country queensland - very small country town - lived there for 2 and a bit years.

here

named after Eidsvold station that was established in 1848 - named after Eidsvoll a town in Norway.

Rosylily · 14/05/2007 08:33

Shanks That's brilliant that Deanna sleeps so well! Have you had your thyroid checked? I always think of that now when anxiety is mentioned because my friend had that problem and it was her thyroid causing it.

Foxy-The flies are nearly all gone (shudder) Ds1 had great sport swatting them

I drank snakebites too in my youth, couldn't keep up with my friends though...I drank 4 pints and they drank 8

Dolly, I'm better now, no af but definately had the symptoms, bought some omega 3 supplements to see if that helps. I hope you get loads of yummy cath kidston stuff!

Sazzy I attacked Hasans bit of cradlecap with dove soap and cotton wool followed by emolient.

Lunar and Muppet absolutely gorgeous photos! aawww.

The Blonde I hope you have an easier day today!

Eidsvold what a quaint place and lovely name in its own right too.

Hasans 8 week check up today...better get everyone ready!

Mossie · 14/05/2007 08:54

Hi ladies,

Will catch up later and look at photos!

Had a bit of a grizzly day yesterday but Bertie seems to have woken up in a better mood this morning...

... he is four and a half weeks old and has started to look at things, it's a godsend, he is lying in his cot watching his musical mobile and he seems to be actually watching it, iyswim!

I'm sure I've caught him smiling a few times but as soon as I've seen it, it's gone. Probably just wishful thinking, it's about six weeks babies can smile isn't it?

Anyway off to get him and bring him down here... will come back later!!

sazzybee · 14/05/2007 09:03

Mossie - that's a marvellous moment isn't it? I found it such a relief that I could put him down for 5 mins when he wasn't sleeping. Now (9 weeks) Elliot likes his baby gym so much he can spend 20 mins or so amusing himself!

I think some babies smile earlier so bertie may be just very advanced (sure that's the case )

Sorry to hear about your anxiety shanks - sounds horrible. Do you know what you're worrying about? I've had stomach cramps for the last few days and a dodgy gut which is what I get when I'm anxious. I've been worrying about coping with E's lack of sleep and his crying and the fact that the house is a mess. Now I haven't got any visitors for a while and a more mellow week planned, I'm hoping it will just go away.

Thanks all for cradle cap advice - I will try washing it this morning - I'm very reluctant to bath E as he hates it but I realised that his hands smell when I was feeding him earlier so I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet

evenhope · 14/05/2007 09:21

Haven't posted on this thread for a while. It takes me ages to catch up with the posts then DD wakes up and I never get to add anything.

She's having days where she sleeps all day (and all night) and then days when she doesn't sleep at all. It's weird. The non sleeping days are a strain because she just wants to feed. She falls asleep with the boob in her mouth and if I try to put her down she's awake and screaming. If anyone else takes her, her bottom lip droops (like a cartoon baby) and she screams. She looks for me all the time. None of the others did it and it's quite wearing.

The nights are getting better and she's going down closer to 11pm than 12, and sleeping through until 6am. I did have 2 nights last week when I didn't wake up in between and felt so much better, but since then I'm back to waking every couple of hours

LunarSea · 14/05/2007 09:39

Mossie - The development chart here reckons 5-6 weeks is average for smiling, but "normal" is anything from 1-3 months.
