Morning all - new thread as the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts limit.

Not so great this morning - feel like an egg-bound chicken IYSWIM. Grrr - especially as I managed to avoid it all the way through pregnancy. And not sure if there's anything I can take for it while I'm feeding?

OP posts:

Rosy - I've always wqanted to go to Donegal - looks amazing

I didn't watch that Panorama thing Kiwi - looked too upsetting. Our experience was similar in that there seemed to be about 3 midwives for about 30 labouring women and I had to walk the corridors with my waters and blood gusging. Bit too close to home for my liking. I think maternity units have visibly got worse since I had Ds1 6.5 years ago.

sorry for the rant...anyone watch Catherine tate

I was ROFL - she's sooo funny

she had a sketch last week about the Ginger Irish nurse whjich ended in her and her adult siblings doing an Irish dance - outrageous but hilarious!"

divastrop · 03/05/2007 21:52

booboo-nice to see you
i havent dropped Elsie(yet)but have accidentally caught her head on the door whilst walking through it.i seem to recall doin that with dd2 a number of times also.

muppet-sorry,i was PMSL at the image of your mil dropping your dh into a ditch.actually, its given me the giggles and dp probably thinks ive gone insane.or that the half glass of wine ive drunk has gone to my head.

kitty-i keep falling asleep listening to that cd,then having weird dreams about shopping centres and lifts.

my paranoia has been getting worse all day,i keep questioning myself, its doing my head in.i'd been feeling ok the past few days but it took one little thing to spark it all off again

foxcub · 03/05/2007 21:59

Diva I did that with DS1 once - whacked his head on a door frame as I walked through the door

what are you feeling a bit paranoid about?

divastrop · 03/05/2007 22:00

i was going to watch that panorama thing but i forgot about it...i got sidetracked

it would just have made me angry, especially when i hear local women complaining about the hospital here.they have no idea what its like to give birth in a sub-standard,understaffed maternity unit where the mw's dont give a f**k.

there was an article in the local papar last year about a couple who'd complained about the hospital because they'd told them the baby was a boy when it was actually a girl.apparantly, the couple gave it a boy's name and didnt find out it was a girl till 12 hours later.

well,der

makes you wonder how they actually made the baby in the first place!

eidsvold · 03/05/2007 22:48

foxy - that will be fab having the elders to stay - am sure you will get lots of support and Monti will get lots of attention.

mossie - I am all for whatever it takes to get them off. Especially when they are no2 or no3. Dd3 just has to wait sometimes - like the other night when dh was away and the other dds needed their dinner and dd3 wanted a feed. I was chopping veges for the dds and rocking dd3 in the chair until I could put the veges on and give her a bit of a feed, dish up the dds dinner and then feed dd3 again whilst the other dds were eating!! We originally got that chair for dd2 as it kept her off the ground and not so accessible to dd1 - and it was brilliant.

You could try daktozin cream (?) on monti's bum foxy , not sure if you can get it in the UK but I used it with dd1 when she got a dose of thrush - brilliant.

glad dh is back!! madness at the airport trying to pick him up - did not feel like dragging three little ones into the terminal to pick him up!! Our airport is very accessible in terms of meeting people inside but what a palaver to go through security etc with the three of them. So we had to lap around the pick up area - around 6 flights had landed when dh's was due - his was late despite what the website said. So we lapped and we lapped and we lapped and I got majorly pissed off at stupid people who would stop on the roadway rather than pull off and park to pick up someone. THEN dd3 decided she wanted a feed NOW!!! so I am trying to concentrate on dodgy drivers, with dd3 screaming in the back. Got to the point where I decided if dh was not out on the last lap I was going to pull over and breastfeed her and BUGGER the security dudes who move you on after a few minutes - very strict about the two minute drop off/pick up time there. Very stressful - thank goodness dh was there.

there endeth the rant!!!

foxcub · 03/05/2007 22:54

Eids - that sounds stressfuil. I time all my feeds to avoid that situation where I am driving with a hungry screaming newborn in the car!! trouble is you can't control all situations can you?

Glad your DH is back

I'll google that cream and see what I can find out.

The Nystatin is already making his poor bum look a bit calmer - less raging scarlet and more spotty pink now..

eidsvold · 03/05/2007 22:59

another cream I found fab for very red bums - pawpaw ointment or calendula cream - not sure if they work with thrush but brilliant for red bums.

here

calendula cream I got from the health food shop

eidsvold · 03/05/2007 22:59

foxy the crazy thing was she had just had a feed before we left home and this was not even an hour later when she decided she wanted more!!!

Piffle · 03/05/2007 23:02

Eids, respect, my dp would get told to find a taxi
Finn is not a great fna of the carseat as it turns out, obviously it's a form of torture to him...
So dropping dd off to pre school is an ordeal, not just for the poor tortured, well fed, adored, warm and clean baby in the nasty expensive top of the range (for your comfort sonny) car seat but for those poor innocents in the car listening to his loud objections
I'm sure the mums at pre school either think I'm a baby abuser or pity me for having the newborn that never stops screaming.

Finn appears to have missed his growth spurt, although there is stll time (he was only 6 wks today) and no issues with his growth...

But I know with ds1 and dd they both were very obvious growth spurts wise... Maybe it's coming in the next few days.

Have said sod it to Finns bedtime - esp after that panorama programme, just went and nestled with him and thought, FGS thank god you're here, even if you don't feel tired yet!
So he hung out with us and drifted off at his normal time but with much less stress.

Way forward indeed.

Sorry to hear of sore bottoms, we are usign some cloth nappies now which are going fab!
Must go now, tis time for his top up dream feed and BED!

eidsvold · 04/05/2007 03:56

normally he would get a cab or if his mate goes with him, cab and then a lift home BUT the older dds were so excited daddy was coming home i would never have gotten them to bed even though they were knackered. at least they managed to at least see daddy as we picked him up and say hello before they fell asleep!

eidsvold · 04/05/2007 03:57

dd3 is a very good traveller and loves being in the car aslong as we are moving - lapping the airport at a snail's pace and having to stop for idiots all the time was just not good enough for her - thankfully once we got going agin she dozed off.

foxcub · 04/05/2007 10:13

Eids - sounds like she was just protesting ten ! (sweet...)

Finn I'm very impressed you remember things like growth spurts. If your memory is that goo me thinks you don't drink enough alcohol

BTW I think I've set up a profile with pic of DCs...

foxcub · 04/05/2007 10:15

ooh the pic's come out really crap...will have to try again later

Rosylily · 04/05/2007 10:35

Fox your piccy is similar quality to mine but it is clear that the children are darling!

Leoladyofleisure · 04/05/2007 11:43

Had a slightly better night last night, I've had a couple of days rest but feel more tired than ever now... its funny isn't it if you keep busy you don't always notice how tired you are but when you stop you collapse!

Rosy, Donegal looks beautiful, i could really so with some fresh sea air at the moment (its the only thing I get home sick for ...well almost!). Do you rent a caravan or tow your own?

I remember ds1 rolling off the bed onto the floor when he was tiny and I managed to bang the dts heads together the other day !

Mossie, how was the weigh-in yesterday?

Fox, Monti looks such a little cutie in the middle of the other two!

LaidbackinEngland · 04/05/2007 11:54

Hi all

Have been off to Devon househunting again... have decided to rent until we find something to buy - but there are so few houses on the rental market. We are going down for 10 days later in May to give it some proper attention !

Also breastfed yesterday in DH's grandmas funeral .... not sure if it was appropriate but

Rosy thanks for your link ... if I ever come to Ireland I will definately visit some of the ancient sites

Piffle - glad you had a more relaxed evening. I'm afraid thats how I do most of my parenting whilst they are under a year... it's so much easier and less of a fight. Let me know if you still want to try a baby beehinds bamboo nappy and I will send you one.

Great to see Boo back... Hello !

Hope everyone else is fine too .

Mossie · 04/05/2007 15:52

Ladies, just wanted to pop by say hello... am unlikely to be on here for a few days, as I'm doing nothing but spending time with Bertie and dh at this bank holiday weekend...

Hope you all enjoy yourselves... Foxy I didn't get your text, my number is 07968 632535 if you could text me your friend's number. Am going to see a LLL person on Tuesday anyhow but all advice is good advice...

Have a good bank hol weekend all, sorry for short post!!

Mossy xxx

CallieNewMum · 04/05/2007 18:54

hi Booboo, nice to see you. Don't worry about dropping the baby - I have to admit i did something potentially far more dangerous the other day - I forgot to secure the car seat with the seatbelt after strapping LO into it for a 10 min car journey. The really disturbing thing is I had previously done it on a very short journey and thought I'd learnt my lesson. Please don't tell the social on me!

foxy, Jordi's bb can't get anything in it as it's a very big outie atm because he's got a naval hernia. It seems to be getting bigger and bigger but the HV said that's normal.\

Mossy, I feel really guilty for describing Jordi as screaming all the time the other day because he's been fine the past few days. . Poor lad, I'm slandering him.

Muppet, nice to see you too. I'm glad to hear Samuel is over a stone - think Jordi will be next time he's weighed! He was 12lb 7oz last week, I may have said that before.

I'm in the market for both a baby monitor and a cot mobile with lights and music - any recommendations?

Rosy, have a lovely weekend in Donegal. I went to Letterkenny many years ago when its festival was on. Me and two friends were doing hair wraps to support ourselves (well, to top up the dole if I'm completely honest!) and I remember drinking the proceeds in pints of Guinness and going back to an illegally pitched tent in the pouring rain in the middle of the night. Ah, those carefree pre-work, pre-child days....

There are pics of Jordi here

CallieNewMum · 04/05/2007 19:06

Diva - were you sidetracked or backtracked?? Just thought I'd lower the tone a little. So are you definitely not having any more kids....?

CallieNewMum · 04/05/2007 19:19

Muppet, I've just read your profile and am being nosy. What type of books do you edit?

DollyPopsOut · 04/05/2007 19:33

Hello...i should be called dollyneverhere rather than dollypopsin as I am finiding it hard to get time to keep up and post at the moment. Tilly is great, slept one night fro 12 to 6, now really alert and smiling at everyone. DD1 has been poorly this week which has kept me away from the computer. Bad cold, upset tummy, the worst nappies, won't eat, wants mummy all the time etc. It's not been great. She was fine today until about 6.30 then asked to go to bed! Hope she gets better soon.

Sorry not to hav eread what's been going on. Hope you are all well and that your babies are thriving. DH is around tomorrow and monday so I might get the chance to reply properly to you all.

Take care XXXXX

divastrop · 04/05/2007 20:51

my mum and sister are coming 2moro so am about to clean flat and iron all clothes. keep crying but only when dp is here. i manage when he is not. anyone else do this?

Rosylily · 04/05/2007 22:22

Leo, Some of my family have a couple of caravans in Donegal, maybe eventually I'll aquire one of my own! I'm heading up in the morning. Hoping the children travel ok for me!

Callie I also went for a drinkathon to Letterkenny many moons ago with a group of artists doing a joint exhibition with the letterkenny group. Was great fun.
I enjoyed seeing your pictures, they are lovely. Jordi is gorgeous.

Dolly I hope your dd1 is better soon.

Spongecake I'm like that too with dh. I manage when he is away and once he arrives I collapse desperate for a break but I feel more capable when he's not around! We had a big row today before he left

Tonight we had a bit of excitement...a fire engine parked outside and a fireman knocked on the door..they wanted to bring their big hose into my garden apparently there was a fire in the lane behind us. It was all very exciting! (I don't get out much)

spongecake · 04/05/2007 23:16
