Morning all - new thread as the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts limit.

Not so great this morning - feel like an egg-bound chicken IYSWIM. Grrr - especially as I managed to avoid it all the way through pregnancy. And not sure if there's anything I can take for it while I'm feeding?

OP posts:

Leo noise and smell. Kate's bum is awful!!

I can't imagine how busy you are with your two (or 3 counting your other). Hope you are doing ok.

Well done Mossy!! Here's hoping he'll be counting sheep for a while

Leoladyofleisure · 03/05/2007 11:07

The smell can be really bad sometimes, but thankfully the poo doesn't smelll the same!

I have the luxury of ds1 being in nursery for 3 days a week so only have me and the dts to look after nothing compared to Kitty's 5 other children!

Kitty, i'm sorry my last post probably came across insensitive, it was meant to be supportive letting oyu know you are not alone and I understand but as I already said my 3 really don't compare to your 6! I hope Ronnie starts sleeping better to give you a break!

Piffle · 03/05/2007 11:18

Finns bb smells a bit manky if you get in close...
He's 6 wks and only had 5 baths
Now he has stopped screaming in it, he may well get a few more.
WE stick him in 2 inches of water first on his bath ramp
Then dd gets in runs a bit more hot
Then ds13 gets in aftr running half a tank of more hot. Re use indeed!
Quick to add other kids bath most days

finn won't have a bar of a dummy, have had him sucking it twice only so have given up trying so he just screams instead...

Was little bugger last night to put to bed, like Sazzy was patting and cuddling and soothing for over an hour, then like magic he ust dropped off, after that he is fantastic
He was weighed yesterday and had his 6 wk check
He is 12lbs That's nearly 4lbs in 6 wks...
right must dash, be on time to pick up dd this time

Mossie glad you are getting him tos ettle eventually FWIW sometimes Finn just will not settle, not in my arms, not feeding, just grumpy arse...
Those times are the most stressful and he does get put down for 5 mins while we all go and deep breathe...

divastrop · 03/05/2007 11:56

shanks-Deanna is officially sleeping through the night,

Elsie settled about 10 last night, its usually about 9.once shes settled she wakes about 1am and the time she sleeps after that is getting longer.she wake at 5.30 this morning,so i suppose shes only really waking once in the night now.

i dont feel too good today,i feel really paranoid and anxious and like im going to burst into tears at any minute.i wish my hormones would go back to normal

Rosylily · 03/05/2007 12:43

Diva what happened about the thyroid test? Was it all clear?

divastrop · 03/05/2007 13:01

rosy-yes it was all normal.i could poss. be ovulating,i always used to suffer extreme paranoia at that time before i was preg.

the difference is this time when a paranoid thought entered my head and i was about to start imagining the worst possible thing that could happen,i stopped and thought 'that was a paranoid thought,i know because my gut feeling is that it isnt really true,so theres no point in thinking what bad things could happen cos nothing bad is going to happen, and i would just be doing it to punish myself for feeling happy the past few days'

i was quite suprised at myself,i think that cd really is helping.

foxcub · 03/05/2007 13:03

Piffle - Monti's BB smells nice now - not sure if it was the bactoban cream or just letting the air get to it the last two days

He farts for England though

Lordy does he fart. Each fart is preceded by 90 minutes grunting too!

How come they make such a drama out of each fart then?

GP gave me some Nystatin cream for his bum this morning as the Metanium made it much worse. He screams with pain each time I change him, poor lad

Hope it is thrush so at least the Ny willl zap it for good - it did appear same time as the mouth thrush, but I just assumed it was nappy rash...Diva was it you who said it might be thrush about 2 weeks ago, or maybe Eids

  • bad mother alert over here anyway...
foxcub · 03/05/2007 13:04

Diva - am really glad your thyroid test was clear

kiwibella · 03/05/2007 14:12

ditto Diva... and that you are managing your thoughts

Fox... Kate puts absolutely no effort into her farts. They just blurt out as and when!!

How did we get to be discussing farts?!?!?

foxcub · 03/05/2007 14:14

Effortless farts (..nice)

kittyhas6 · 03/05/2007 16:15

Leo, no you didn't sound at all insensitive it's really good to hear everybody else's nighttime wakings,it lets me know I'm part of a large zombified gang of mothers .

Diva, glad the thyroid test was clear and SO pleased you're feeling the benefit of the cd. I too have it know but I find his voice REALLY weird. Don't you? it gives me the creeps . I sounds like one of those American film voioce over blokes. I've only listened to a little bit as I just haven'r had the down time to listen to it yet. In this house if I managed to claw back a little space it's like the whole household, adults and kids descend on me with " Oh Kitty has some quiet time let's all go an disturb her with inane questions and problems"

Right, will post more later, I can here dd3 in with Ronnie

kittyhas6 · 03/05/2007 16:16

crap typos r us

Booboobedoo · 03/05/2007 16:59

Hello ladies!

So sorry I disappeared for so long. It just felt like any time not spent staring at Jonny was time wasted. Still does a bit, but the initial madness is fading...

Read the first 100 or so messages on this thread - sounds like you're all doing well!

Jonny weighed 8lbs 2oz at his 6 week check, and will sometimes go six hours between feeds at night.

I want to post a pic, but all my files are huge and I don't know how to reduce them.

Your babies are all gorgeous, obviously!

I've missed chatting to you all. I actually had a horrible moment today. I was carrying Jonny across the room in a car-seat, and he fell out of it onto the floor. He's got red lump on his cheek-bone. I've been crying for an hour, but after a cry he seems absolutely fine and happy.

I feel like the worst mother in the world.

Decided it was time to come back to MN for advice and chats. Am tired, emotional and clumsy.

But Jonny was worth the horrible fertility treatment and the crappy pregnancy. He is wonderful.

(He's 7 weeks on Friday).

kittyhas6 · 03/05/2007 17:56

Boo, so glad you're back and ok. We were worried about you
I'm sure Jonny is fine after his fall. Babies are very bouncy. One of mine fell out of the back of his pram when he was a newborn. I still feel very about it but there was no damage done. I think nearly all of mine have fallen off the sofa. Ok so I'm not such a good example

ronnie's off again xx

Mossie · 03/05/2007 17:57

Just a quicky, Bertie's about to wake any moment! Just wanted to say Booboo it's so nice to have you back!!

Booboobedoo · 03/05/2007 18:02

It's nice to be back.

Kitty: you've made me feel better already. Am really tired today, and paranoid that someone will mysteriously contact social services, who will obviously immediately take him away as I am an unfit mother and he is too lovely and precious for me to be entrusted with him.

Perhaps I should go and have a sleep.

TheBlonde · 03/05/2007 18:06

Welcome back Boo
Don't worry, they all fall on the floor at some point. I can remember DS falling off the bed and having horrid marks from the floorboards on his head.

I have been a generally rubbish shouty mummy today. Lack of sleep plus whingey toddler is not a good combo

Saw the BFC today and hopefully I will now improve my latch and my poor nipple will heal

Piffle · 03/05/2007 18:07

Boo nice to see you back honey, glad your Jonny is as mesmerising as all of our babes Babies do not tense up when they fall, hence their seeming bounceability! Same as drunks too apparently!

Well Finn has had a lovely peaceful day, he is giggling now which really surprised me - I thought that would be miles off. But am LOVING it! 2 x 2 hr plus naps and another quick hour now.
Bed time is pants, he never settles before 8.30pm so am not bothering to try til 8pm...

Mossie how has your day been today petal?

LunarSea · 03/05/2007 18:25

Piffle - even 8pm bedtimes are a long way off for us. There doesn't seem a lot of point until the evening cluster feeding settles down into something approaching a definite feed / sleep cycle. So at the moment it's just alternating feeding an catnaps all evening, and bedtime at about 11 when I go up. The upside is that there's no problem settling him to sleep then!

Hi everyone

exciting news - we have a delegation of aboriginal elders over from Oz staying with us this weekend!

Hope Monti doesn't keep them awake

foxcub · 03/05/2007 18:55

Hi Boo - brill to hear from you birth buddy and glad you and Johnny are all lurved up!!

Monti is deffo getting a lot more demanding. He wants to be held by a standing person or "sitting up" all the time so he can have a good nose at what's going on around him!

muppethasakitten · 03/05/2007 19:43

Good to hear from you Boo! Please don't feel bad about Jonny falling from the car seat... I'm certain he will be completely fine. My mil dropped my dh out of a carrycot at a service station in the '70's when there were no such thing as car seats for babies. He rolled down the embankment into a ditch and didn't even wake up!... come to think of it... might explain a few things

Had my 8 week check today. Samuel's over a stone now... thought he was getting too heavy to be walked about!

I'm borderline worrisome on the old Edinburgh test... have to watch it... but to be honest it's so reliant on what sort of day your baby is having isn't it? When they act less demanding it's easier to cope... when they decide to be complete buggers they can reduce you to rubble!

Foxy... was smelling Samuel's belly button during a nappy change to dutifully report back to you... knelt back up and thought... what's that in my hair . Let's just say his bb smells fine, however... my hair needs a wash!

kiwibella · 03/05/2007 21:31

wow, what a boy Muppet!! I've just seen his piccie and he is delicious Bet he's changed loads since that photo on day 1.

Fox - that's exciting news! If Aboriginal elders are anything like our Maori ones, they will be taking Monti from you the minute after they have arrived and give you endless amounts of amazing advice to help. I feel really excited for you.

Hope you managed some rest Boo and feel a bit better. It's nice to come here and read that everyone is in the same (or at least similar) boat.

I gave Kate an extra kiss after watching the Panorama doco - thank goodness everything went well for us.

Sleep well everyone

Rosylily · 03/05/2007 21:31

If I can muster the energy I'm off caravaning to donegal this weekend!
here
I'm quite excited

Booboo so pleased you are back! We missed you loads you know! Ooh and I eventually drop all my babies somehow too. Hasan has had a couple of bangs with the other children- poor wee guy.

Rosylily · 03/05/2007 21:39

Fox that sounds like you are in for an interesting weekend!

Muppet, that's great that the check up went well.

The blonde, I hope your nipple gets sorted you poor thing.
