hello monkey, and welcome!. tell us about your baby!

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 07/06/2007 15:37

Her name is Emily and she was born on 28th Aug. She's soooo beautiful, as is all of our babies She has a big dark eyes, like her Dad's and big brothers. She's a good eater but still wakes me between 4am and 5am for her early morning feed!! Grrrr! She has started to move around in her own special way - can't describe it - although she does get on all 4's but not quite got the confidence to go for crawling yet. Don't know what else to put, except she is my little Baby Boo!!

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 07/06/2007 15:39

What about your baby?? Haven't read the whole thread, but can see you have a dd.

olivo · 07/06/2007 16:42

snap! my dd was also born on 28th august! she is called holly and is very mischievous and nosy. she sleeps well but also wakes early (but not as early as emily!) she eats like a horse (usually, been off her food all week ) but is crawling well so i guess she needs the energy!

PinkTulips · 07/06/2007 17:53

hello monkey

my little fella is caleb (you can see him in my profile) he's 28th of july so i'm not even supposed to b on this thread but i couldn't bear to abandon my august girls when he came early

make yourself at home... we're a bit neglectful lately (all off having lives, tut, tut) but the others might be around later

burstingbug · 07/06/2007 18:04

Hi, sorry I've not been here on this thread , got caught up with a bit of rl and on other mn threads

Hope things are good with everyone.

Joe can climb to the top of the stairs, he loves to walk holding your hands. He has 4 teeth and still breastfeeding - kind of - on his terms.

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 07/06/2007 19:48

Olivo - thats probably how I would describe emily, she is also mischievous and nosy, def more so than ds - she's into everything she's not supposed to be in to.

PinkTulip - your lo's are cuties!

And Melsy - glad to read you and dd are now home - it must be a worrying time for you.

Thank you all for welcoming me on to your thread

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 07/06/2007 19:50

Olivo - hope holly is feeling better soon I hate it when the lo's are ill.

Arabica · 07/06/2007 21:10

Hi Monkey! Welcome to our thread. My baby, Esja, was born on 27 July but I've stayed on the Aug thread for the same reasons as PinkTulips. I really should get around to making a member profile page. In the meantime if you are ever bored enough to google 'Esja' you will find the beautiful mountain she was named after. It's pronounced 'Ayrshire'.
Hi burstingbug! That's amazing, to be climbing stairs--although I remember with DS I was always terrified he'd topple down them, so we got stair gates I could never remember how to undo!

dressedupnowheretogo · 07/06/2007 21:55

BigHotMama · 07/06/2007 22:01

Hello and Welcome Monkey, your baby boo sounds like a little sweetie, get some pics on here for us to see.

Well done to Esja for getting on the move, you watch she will be crawling around before you know it Arabica!

Poor Holly, hope she picks up soon Olivo. Its being at nursery with all the nasties going around.

Hi BBug nice to see you back, and wow at Joe climbing to the top? Jackson doesnt know what stairs are as we live in ground floor flat.

Me and Jackson are off on a sponsored walk tomorrow with about 100's of moms and babys/toddlers with local playgroups and nurseries, its only half mile but for Barnados charity so good cause and there is a farm for the public there so will take ds to see the smelly pigs, should be fun!

x

burstingbug · 07/06/2007 22:10

Yes bhm, the top ! He wants to do what George does all the time. They find each other hilarious

olivo · 08/06/2007 09:31

morning all! another day off sick today but i have joined my gorgeous dd in vomit land! all night, running between the loo for me and picking her up as she was retching, poor lamb. dh? in the spare room, sleeping through it so i'm thirsty as anything but unable to keep down even water dd has gone back to sleep at least.
booby - you sound like you're having quite a time of it, hope things get less stressful soon.
BHM - good luck for your walk, sounds a lovely idea.
BB - your two sound so cute

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 08/06/2007 09:42

Oh Olivo, so sorry you're not well now. Try and get some rest - easier said than done, I know - hope you and holly feel better soon.

Booby - hope you are feeling better soon too.

BHM - yes I need to create a profile and get some piccies on there - will try and do it over the weekend.

And Emily crawled yesterday - very slow but slow is good, me thinks

melsy · 08/06/2007 09:53

aww gawd olivo , know how u feel , I had that in feb and we all took it in turns. Hope it passes VERY quickly.

Hi monkey welcome , hope you feel at home here X

Booby hun , any time you want to talk , bleep me , Im always lingering here, feeling right wobbly too.

well dd is still very lethargic , cant do much but sleep all the time , weve brought the travel cot into the conservatory so I can watch her and she cant hold herself up much anyway , so its safer than her falling on my laminate , when I need to get bottles and do stuff.

Ive been watching a rash shes had develop in the last 24hrs and am off to the gp in half hr to get it checked , she may be having a reaction to the penicillen or is just a heat rash. Am I being overly cautious and nuerotic ??

IM not coping to well with all this ,as cant seem to sleep great now as Im so anxious and over wrought.

olivo · 08/06/2007 10:10

oh melsy, what a nightmare, poor little dd. and of course you're not being neurotic - totally sensible.
dd has woken up so we've been up to the shop to get some lucozade sport for me - i'm knackered - its only 5 mins away. i've now parked her in front of big cook, little cook (i hate it but she seems to be quiet). she doesnt usually seem interested in the tv but i'll be the first to lead her into bad habits!

hoppybird · 08/06/2007 10:21

Morning everyone!

welcome Monkey and well done baby boo on crawling - my little dd (Julia, born 18 Aug at a teeny 5lb 2oz) FINALLY managed to crawl yesterday, after a few weeks of non-deliberate twisting and bottom shuffling. And get this - on Sunday, she actually put food in her own mouth! I've also come to the conclusion that is no coincidence that she has just reached 15lb in weight - which appears to be the magic weight when 'things start to happen' (reliable sitting without falling over, self feeding, moving etc). It would have been great to miss out on the spoon feeding, like lots of your babies have done, but I guess tiny babies are so very different in that respect.

We've been so busy - MIL's funeral was a couple of weeks ago - went well, ds look very smart in his black suit and tie, and everyone commented how well both kids behaved, and how nice it was to have them there. dh managed to get most of his mum's stuff into our already bursting loft, but it will be coming down again soon as we're moving in about 6 weeks! ds has a place at a new school and he's really excited - he'll be able to attend for a couple of weeks before they break up for Summer.

Melsy - you're so brave to have faced that op, hope you're better soon, and your poor little dd, as if you didn't have enough to cope with - great idea about the trainee nanny.

Arabica - well done Esja getting on the move! - am I right in thinking she's one of the littler ones?

Olivo - do hope both of you are better soon.

bhm - my ds' school does the sponsored walk for Barnardo's as well. The farm sounds fun! Looking forward to seeing your christening pics - not had my kids 'done' (much to my catholic mum's disapproval) I do like the ceremony though of welcoming a child into the family/community.

booby - I know how you feel, re trying to keep house tidy for viewings. Can't imagine going out to work as well - my dd hasn't ever slept through yet either, and she's got a 5th tooth popping through and is up a few times a night being miserable with it. I'm also still bf thankfully, so she has instant comfort, and goes straight back down (normally) after a feed. We're looking forward to her having her own room though! We think she might sleep better without having to listen to dh's peculiar snores!

oh my word! sorry about the essay. I'll go away for a weeks now.

MonkeyandBabyBoo · 08/06/2007 10:50

Morning Hoppy, congrats on Julia crawling , even though we've been through it all before, how weird does it look when they move around! She's sooo teeny aswell - was she born early? (the 18th was my due date!)

Good luck with the move aswell - we moved last year when I was 28 weeks pg - total nightmare and very stressful!

Hi Melsy, big hugs to you, can't imagine what you are going through - i really do hope she gets better soon.

hoppybird · 08/06/2007 12:12

No, Monkey, she wasn't early - had to have a CS a few days before her due date because of very low fluid levels and concerns for her non-growing-ness. Since then, she's stuck to the 2nd centile almost religiously.

My ds (now 6years old) was born 5wks prem at 4lb. but he followed the heady heights of the 9th centile - he hit all his milestones far earlier than my non-prem baby, simply because of his comparatively larger weight, I reckon. I just make 'em tiny,

re: moving stress - yes, I know all about that too! 1st time we moved house (to this flat) was a week before my ds arrived. We decided against a pregnant move this time round, despite having no space, thinking we'd move when dd was a couple of months old. Ha. 10 months later...

Melsy - oh your poor little dd! and no, you're not at all neurotic - rashes should always be checked out.

Nbg · 08/06/2007 13:57

Gosh
I check this thread and theres no messages, then I'm offline for a couple of days and theres loads!

Do I smell?

Anyhooo,
Welcome Monkeybabywhatsamacallit

BHM, enjoy your walk. Hope the weather stays good for you.

Melsy, will be about today. Was the rash the penicillin?

Booby, again am about today for a chat.

Ellis has been a real trooper the last few days. Sleeping well and eating good too. Not sure if the two are connected but its good whatever.
DD is being a star too. We got rid of night time nappies and shes having dry nights so we're really pleased. It will save loads of nappies!
I think I have felt the odd flutterings too. Not very many and they are just that, flutterings but I'm nearly 16 weeks now so about right I think.
Have the MW coming on sunday morning for my next antenatal appt, then after that it isnt till 25 weeks!

BigHotMama · 09/06/2007 10:30

Lol NBG, you stink! Makes me feel all gooey you saying you felt flutterings, god am I sounding broody?

Booby, you sound like your rushed off your feet chick? I can barely keep on top of the housework and I'm at home all day

Well done to Julia and Emily for crawling. Jackson was like a little snail at first but before you know it you'll have them charging at your feet and allsorts lol.

Hows your DH coping now Hoppy?

Sorry your feeling shitty Olivo, I hate being sick its the pits, hope you both feel better soon x

Melsy definately get the rash checked out as its just piece of mind, I would have done the same thing, hope your both doing ok x

Well the walk was good but slow, imagine the toddlers walking round and then they stop and create mini traffic jams lol, was a lovely day and full of kiddies and balloons and clowns and then we went to the farm and boy did it pong of pigshit, Jackson wasnt amused when his balloon slipped from my grasp and went up in the sky

All this talk of moving is making me sweat, just the thought of it. We are hoping to do it next year sometime. Isnt it meant to be one of the most ever strssful things a person can do? Yikes!

Jackson's new trick is doing a jig type of dance to music, its hilarious. He does it to certain advertisments on tv and music we play and if we say dance he does it bless!

Oh and btw I lost 6 and half pound this week so am bit high hence the essay

Hope everybody is well x

Arabica · 09/06/2007 23:05

Hey, sounds like you're NotSoBigHotMama now! Well done on your 6lbs. And there was me thinking I was Slimmer of the Week for losing 3.
Well done to all the little crawlers, I love the way they get so proud of themselves.
Hoppy, that's an interesting theory you have about weighing 15lbs being the turning point for developmental milestones for your children. I think it varies from child to child. Esja was born 27/7 but has developmental delay. She had a big surge in ability at around 13lbs and then again recently at 8kg (20lbs?). She hasn't bottom shuffled again, maybe we need to get a shiny floor!
Went to see the physio which was difficult for Esja. She seemed very uncomfortable whilst doing some of the exercises. I know they're important and will help her achieve her potential but it isn't nice hearing your baby scream in indignation/discomfort. It wasn't an 'I'm in pain' type noise but you could tell she didn't like being manipulated.

Arabica · 09/06/2007 23:07

Melsy, hope the rash was ok. Esja had one recently which was diagnosed as 'probably rubella' (maybe your baby caught it over t'internet). Looked like a heat rash, and it was only on arms and legs although started in nappy area. I always think it's worth checking out any kind of rash.

melsy · 10/06/2007 17:49

Hi Arabica , sorry to hear ejsa's having physio thats uncomfortable, its no the easiest is it. Ive stopped for now whilst I heal , but it has been very good for me, depsite being hard to start with.

So ejsa had rubella , is she ok with it now? They weren't sure either way whether hers was the penicillin or virus . Ive started a thread as Ive been a bag of nerves about it all. I phoned a friend who didnt know what happened and started just bawling and bawling , she told me off for not asking for help earlier in the week, which is lovely , but you just feel funny putting upon friends like that. Im calming down a bit now shes stabilised though PHEWWW.

WELLL DONE BHM , bet you feel good inside hey.

Booby , hope yuor ok chick , enjoying the sun and some rest hey.

we've done nout this weekend ,except administer medicine & watch the garden evolve without being in it and its soooo nice the weather.

Can you believe around 3:30 pm dd1 started having temperature , shes been very tearful and awkward for 2-3 days and I said to dh , "mark my words this ones getting ill to", OH BLIMEY POO PANTS, poor kids, Im just spent spent spent. With all my spiritual beliefs and stuff and feeling that we sorta plan what we need to do here , Im trying to figure out what it is I am to know with all this illness and stuff since Feb this yr!!!!!!!

dressedupnowheretogo · 11/06/2007 09:09
