rattleskuttle - i'm dying to know which hv you have (so i can avoid her!!). mine is prob off on maternity leave now so i guess i have someone else but havent had an appt for dd's 9 month check.
we had a bad night last night and ended up with dd in A and E. Her breathing and coughing was awful and she was throwing up everywhere and choking on it. they put her on nebuliser and she eventually calmed down and we took her home. i didnt realise croup could be so horrible, poor thing
have cme into work for a couple of hours as i'm finding it quite draining with her clinging and crying all day. dh has got her till 3!!
pink, hope your car makes it! you've reminded me mione needs a service but i'll have to wait till i've been paid.

rattleskuttle · 24/05/2007 15:48

wishing all the babies well again

i remember my dh stayed up all night when dd3 had croup, switching the kettle on in her room every 5 minutes or so. luckily she didn't get it too badly 'though. i know it can be really horrible.

my usual hv is on mat. leave, olivo, so perhaps you'll have this one too. her name is sarah, and she is very nice really. she was quite helpful about some other things but unfortunately sees cc as the solution to tired parents. she gave me a leaflet about it. she really is quite keen on it. ds tried to eat it, lol.

purpleturtle · 24/05/2007 15:55

So sorry to read about all these poorly babies.

The turtle household is in rude health, and we are off camping tomorrow. The car does not seem big enough for everything I've still got to put in it.

Any suggestions for keeping ds2 under control? Have travel cot/playpen but I'm most worried about him pulling himself up on all the flimsy bits of camping kit. Thought I might ask my sister if she's got a pushalong walker she can bring, but I don't really want him learning to walk yet, LOL!

micku5 · 24/05/2007 15:58

hi all, I am still around. I try to pop in once in a while but with Talia in and out of hospital like a yoyo it is difficult to keep up.

Hope everyone is well.

BigHotMama · 24/05/2007 16:13

Good luck with the camping PurpleT your a brave lady ha! I love camping! Am sure the tent will be down in no time (only joking! ) If I were going probabaly take travelcot and travel highchair. Where you off to?

Hi Micku5 hope Talia is doing ok

Sorry to hear about your dd Olivo, what exactly is croup?

Seems like there is a lot of nasties going around at mo.

Jackson still has chickenpox but spots are clearing up, I thought they would have scabbed but they just seem to be fading? Was hoping to go to my moms caravan so will check the spots before we go incase they still contagious.

PMSL Snowboo, I'm not hiding hun just too lazy to post sometimes!

purpleturtle · 24/05/2007 16:46

Even if we had a travel highchair I don't think we could fit it in - meals in the pushchair I think.

We're going about as far north as you can go - Sutherland - because we are quite obviously insane. (I didn't realise ds2 would be quite so mobile quite so early )

Fortunately, my parents have finally collected their motorhome (yesterday, should have been ready before Easter) so we will have company on holiday after all: grandparents and cousins make for easy entertainment .

PinkTulips · 24/05/2007 16:55

thanks snow, looks a bit similar but hard to tell really.

hi micku, hope talia is ok. how are you coping?

purple.... madness! utter madness! hope you have fun though, thank god for grandparents eh?

car sort of passed, needs a new brake light (oops ) but they're being uber cool and retesting for free when we get a new one put in so will be done tomorrow

Snowboo · 24/05/2007 22:14

i've got another one of his eyes, will email it as its go dhs best mate in it and i dont think i'd better share him lol!

Aww poor babies, hope they're all better soon....

On another note.....AUSTIN WALKED!!!! He was standing in the garden, next thing he walked over to me! still , thought i might get a bit longer before he started tearing about upright !!!! HV thinks i'm mental alrady as he speaks and she doesn't believe me, god knows what she'll say when he wanders in to her.

purpleturtle · 24/05/2007 22:40

Sssssh. Don't tell ds2! Last thing I need is for him to start walking .

It's not like there's much peace left to shatter anyway by the time you've got to number 3, but they could give us a bit of a break!

Glad your car passed, PT - ours cost over £600 to put through last month .

PinkTulips · 24/05/2007 23:05

woo hoo, well done austin!

am dying for caleb to figure it out as he's bloody useless at craeling. he spends the whole time trying to get up on his feet and shouting at us lol.

now go toddler proof your house!

OP posts:
Snowboo · 25/05/2007 10:24

I've given up trying to Austin proof the place. Hes now (god knows how!!!) worked out how to open the bloody washing machine. Caught his little legs dangling this morning. Maybe i should bath him at some point

Pink, glad car is ok.(ish) Just found out i've been driving mine thinking dh had done the insurance but it turns out he hasn't got round to it yet MEN!!!!

Right Austin is on the move, best be off til later

PinkTulips · 25/05/2007 11:33

lol at austin in the washing machine

typical man forgetting the insurance too, dp would do that, it's why i have to deal with all paperwork!

met a women from an irish site this morning for coffee and she's lovely. cutest little girl too and caleb slept the whol time so actually got to chat for a change!

olivo · 25/05/2007 13:21

oh you ladies of leisure ,i really miss my days of being out and about with dd BUT....i'm now officially on holiday! dd is still poorly and all week, i've only been into work either mornings or afternoons, so now i'm back home and its half term next week! hurray!
dd has very conveniently fallen asleep in the car so i'm actually having a bit of time to myself - perfect!
hope the other poorly babies are getting better.

sarahlou1uk · 25/05/2007 14:39

Sorry to hear there has been a lot of poorly lo's around - mine are both fine apart from Jacks' hayfever eyes - he looks like a panda! Docs have given me cream for the skin around his eyes but finding it hard to pin him down and put it on!!! Bit damp and drizzly here but still warm. Bit of a change from the past two days when we have had lovely warm weather. Got to go - Molly has bum shuffled herself over to bin and is currently emptying contents onto carpet!!!

Arabica · 25/05/2007 14:58

Hi everyone. Esja has got over her German measles and is back to her normal self. She wasn't a very smiley baby until now--I don't think she had the control of her facial muscles. But today she has been beaming at me and anyone else who looks at her.
Amazing walking babies, already! Am very impressed.
Big hi to micku5, I am sorry to hear Talia has been in and out of hospital...

PinkTulips · 27/05/2007 23:07

he's slept through 2 nights in a row

he's not going to now tonight because i've told people but i'm so proud of him!

yesterday he came into our bed at 7am and slept on til 11am and dd stayed in bed til 12 so i got a lie in!

did everyone else enjoy their weekend?

Nbg · 28/05/2007 07:41

Hi everyone!

I have now returned from my almost week away, child free lol!
I slept virtually the whole time and when I wasnt doing that I was just sat being a real lazy arse lol. Had all my meals cooked for me, cleaned up after me.
Just like it used to be

Dh has done an amazing job looking after the kids. He's tried with all his might to sort Ellis out with his eating, although now he refuses anything to pass his mouth lol. But that may be teething.
Sleeping was bad for him too but he is full of cold and really chesty. However he did sleep last night . Obviously he wanted his mummy.

Snow, well done Austin on the walking! Poor you though
Its bad enough Ellis crawling!!!

Purple, not sure if you've gone yet but all I could suggest is a good mixture of things to occupy ds so that he doesnt feel the need to pull himself up.
Its a bit hard I guess when you have enough to pack!

Micku, hope Talia is well.

BHM and Arabica, poor babies with the pox and measles
What a shame. BHM, hopefully it will stay mild for Jackson. When dd had it, it wasnt too bad but Ellis got it full on.
Some children definatley get it worse than others. Lots of Bicarb of Soda in his bath, works a treat.

Rattle, hmmmmmm at your HV. Although my HV did suggest a bit of CC for Ellis. But not full on IYSWIM.
I'm still swearing by plinky plonky music

Oh one more thing.....

ITS MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW

melsy · 28/05/2007 17:05

ok pre emptive apology for not saying hello to everyone individually. My mind is racing with nerves !

I hope the babies unwell are on the mend and if not yet , then very very soon.

Well my op is tommorow and am just about holding it together. I think the hypnotherapy got me from inside panic room and Im standing just outside it lol. Hearts racing and I keep having to deep breath as I can feel the nerves rising.
