Don't think it's funny cos it'snot.

pcf and lth got therer first - must type faster!!

EasterHattieOrShouldItBeBonnet · 03/04/2007 10:49

you can also get these to prevent head getting any flatter

EasterHattieOrShouldItBeBonnet · 03/04/2007 11:04

2happy - dd went into a booster seat when she was about 3.5, this was when she got too tall for the second stage seat though and was heavy enough for the booster (she's only little). I think height and weight are a better guide of which seat they should use rather than age.

Lizzzombie · 03/04/2007 11:47

Thanks for advice. I think his flat head has occured due to sleeping on it etc, so will do reprositioning technique and look for one of those pillows. (thanks EAH)
How long do you leave your LO on their tummies for? Dylan doesnt mind it, but I am not sure how long I should leave him like it for.

Lizzzombie · 03/04/2007 11:58

Sorry - meant, Easter Hattie, not EAH.
Any ideas where you can buy those pillows new? I cant find them on the internet at all. Not mothercare or NCT .com either. Hmm.

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 03/04/2007 12:00

awwww you missed me!

those poems made me all weepy and now i'm tearing up again. FGS - i'm hardcore, i'm not supposed to be all weepy!!

well, Z was supposed to have his jabs yesterday, but i asked the HV to take his temperature to make sure that he was ok after the hospital, and it was 37.5 which she said was a bit high. so i'm not sure if it was the thing he had when he had the rash and the blood in his poo, or if it's something he picked up at the hospital. anyway, the HV blithely said "Give him some Calpol and see how he goes..."

ok - how exactly do you get your LO's to keep Calpol in their mouths? i have a small syringe for this purpose and all the happens is when i put it in Zac's mouth he lets it dribble out the corner. so i've no idea how much he's had. he's still a bit hot, but he has a really runny tummy today so i'm wondering if the Calpol's caused it or if it's all part of the same bug! arrrrgh!!

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 03/04/2007 12:02

btw - i try to give Zac an hour or so of "tummy time' over the course of the day, usually about 20 mins each time, either on me or on the sofa next to me. he loves it, goes straight to sleep.

Shimmer · 03/04/2007 12:08

Freddies head is quite flat on the back too and he has a funny little bald patch right on the back where it's obviously either rubbed off from lying on it all the time or never grown there.

We were at baby massage yesterday with a 10 week old baby who could lift his whole chest up and support his head when on his tummy and roll over onto his front. Freddie's nowhere near doing this and hates going on his tummy. He gets really fustrated and wriggles around loads making lots of grunting noises and then starts crying after about 3 mintues. So god knows how he's ever going to learn to lift his head up

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 03/04/2007 12:11

Ud I give Hattie calpol on a small medicine spoon and she sort of sucks it in does that make sense?

LTH glad Georges skin better

Lizz poor you re back have you tried those deep heat patches thaye are great

Had a fun morning here been to a and e as ellie managed to alomost slice the top of her big toe off, she was having a bit of a paddy (as usual at the mo!) downstairs and I was upstairs dressing Hattie when I heard a huge scream went down to find her sitting on the floor sock covered in blood, her nail almost of and top of toe with a very very deep cut. I have no idea how she could have done it there isnt anything sharp and door was shut so couldnt have ot to kitchen, dining room or playroom. Dropped Hattie at friends and took Ellie they have glued her toe and put skin plaster on which helps the skin reknit and heal. They have given me a weeks worth of dressings and shown me how to do it. I think it will be the first ofmany trips as she is such a kamikaze kid

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 03/04/2007 12:23

EAH poor Ellie! bless her! i'm anticipating many trips to the fracture clinic with broken limbs from climbing trees, riding bikes ...

he'll probably spend all his childhood with his nose stuck in a book like i did!

EasterHattieOrShouldItBeBonnet · 03/04/2007 15:38

OMG EAH, that must have been a nasty shock for you - sounds like the kind of daft thing my DD would do, she's always black and blue from tumbles.

Lizzz - this is the only place I've found selling them and it's showing out of stock at the moment. There were a couple of new ones on Ebay as well a week or so ago.

WilkieBarEasterEgg · 03/04/2007 16:18

Hello all chatterboxes!!!

EAH - how horrible - hope Ellie is OK now

UD - agree with EAH, I give J his Calpo on a spoon a little at a time OR I have also given him it with a baby syringe (like the ones we used to use in science class) which is easier.

Shimmer - has Freddie stopped screaming at night after you have put him down?

Lizz - J's head is slightly flat at the back to one side but he always has his head slightly tilted that way. It's not too bad but I am really paranoid about it getting worse as our friends baby looks as though he has been smacked in the back of the head with a shovel it is that severe!!!!!!!!!! but also a bit (nasty Wilkie)

Carrot - we didn't bother with a wedding car, just get a friend to put some ribbon on theirs. Waste of money IMO unless you have loads to spend which we didn't.

Well, we went to Sheffield today to see SIL and then the plan was to go onto Meadowhall but our p*ssing car (excuse language) wouldn't start when we went to leave SILs. It took 15 mins to get it started and we didn't dare go to Meadowhall in case the same happened again so came straight home to look for new cars. Currently looking at a Focus and the old style Astra (2002 reg). Bollocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J slept from 7.00pm - 4.15am with a 10.30pm dreamfeed!!!!!!!!!!! Whooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lizzzombie · 03/04/2007 17:08

Easter Hattie - I've just ordered one from that site and they didnt say anything about it being out of stock. How odd. Fingers crossed.
Wilkie - glad I'm not the only one whose baby has a head which looks a bit flat!

Shimmer · 03/04/2007 17:24

Wilkie Freddie has been better the last 2 nights and not woken up just after going to bed. Not sure why he was doing that. He did it for 3 nights in a row, so i was getting a bit paranoid thinking he was going to do it every night til he was 18 or something...

I've started feeding him a bit more today as he was getting really whiny and really wanting his milk every 3-3.5 hours instead of 4 lke before. So he's now having 5.5oz every 4 hours. Still hit and miss with the sleeping thing. Sometimes he wakes up for a night feed, sometimes he doesn't. Another

UD Hope Zac's doing okay. I agree with EAH and Wilkie about giving medicine off a spoon. When Freddie had capol after his last jabs i sat him in his bouncey chair and sort of tipped his head back a bit and dribbled it in. Just bought this months (May) Mother & baby magazine and there's a whole article about how to give medicine. Their website seems to still be on April edition but i guess they'll update it soon.

LTH (or anyone else worried about their LOs skin) Looking on the M&B website just now i saw there is a 'baby skincare web chat' tomorrow at 8pm with some expert. Just in case you still want another option...web chat

Shimmer · 03/04/2007 17:28

Just put a really cute picture of freddie in the bath last night on my profile. Makes me grin every time i see it

RGeeSusIsCrucified · 03/04/2007 19:27

Hi folks! Hope you all had a good day. I had a lovely day as I met up with our very own Vinorouge , and would like to report that she has the best behaved daughter in the whole of the world!!

Shimmer - that piccy is really cute! He must love his baths.

EAH - really hope lo is ok. Made me a bit squeamish when I read what had happened. Poor Ellie

Lizz - Pippa has a little flat bit too, and is losing all her hair. little bald patch now just like her dad! Hope your back is a bit better btw. Bend at the knees (blah blah blah...)

UD - good to have you back but sorry to hear that Z is still not himself. Good luck with the calpol giving.

LTH - hope the cheeks keep improving. Good old health professionals and their extensive knowledge

2Happy - going back a loooong time (11 years to be exact) I spent a short time as a pushchair and car seat buyer at Mothercare. The advice then was weight is the single most important thing when it comes to buying a car seat, definitely not age.

Wilkie - good luck with the car purchase!

Looking forward to tomorrow as am going to London to a work meeting. DH is on full duty, and I am going to enjoy a bottle of wine, and maybe a dodgy magazine (along the lines of 'Take a Break' rather than a porno btw) on the train on the way back home

WilkieBarEasterEgg · 03/04/2007 19:30

RGee - Aw I am jealous, I would love to arrange a meet up with some of you lovely laydeez

RGeeSusIsCrucified · 03/04/2007 19:32

We're not too far away from you so maybe we can

RGeeSusIsCrucified · 03/04/2007 19:34

BTW when I am out tomorrow, DH is going to set up MSN for me. Bless him. I think he's doing it so I spend more time on the computer which means he can spend more time on his Playstation / X box / Wii....

LadyTophamHatt · 03/04/2007 20:42

George had his jabs today, he screamed blue murder for about 10 mintues, fell asleep and has been as right as rain since.
I gave him some calpol just in case though.

I forgot to ask the nurse about his skin, well actually I didn't forget but when I started to mention it she stopped me mid sentence saying "Let me tell you this first.......blah blah blah"
and gave me a pile of bumpf about the jabs.
Cheeky bitch.

Anyway, I wentto the health food shop and got some calendula (sp??) cream which can be used for nappy changing and dryness on any sensitive skin so fingers crossed this will help.
I know i said I was going to leave it but it must feel horrible to have such dry skin and if it started to crack I'd never forgive myself.
Poor little chap.

Finally today my period has returned. About 10 day after I thought it was starting it has properly. I've had 10 days of is it/ isn't it going to start and it's been driving me mad.
Strangley its almost a year to the day since my last one....Dh just said so that means you've got eggs again.

Yes.

2 dozen, free range organic Dear

laughalot · 03/04/2007 20:43

Wilkie ill meet up with you at meadowhall anytime you want, we could do some shopping have a bite to eat that would be fun.

Eah sorry to hear about ellie hope she is ok.

Ud we use a spoon for the medicane

Lth hope georges skin gets sorted soon

trixymalixy · 03/04/2007 20:56

I just can't keep up with the chat on this thread!!

Ds slept from 8-4am with no dreamfeed last night!! If only he would do that from 11-7, but he seems to be in a habit of waking at 4 no matter what I do.

Have had a really busy day. Was round at my Mums to show off DS to random family members I'd never heard of or met before that bought presents for him. He took one look at all the people and started howling!

Then some friends from work came round and he was being ultra cute cooing away and bashing at his playgym.

For those worried about flat heads -\link{http://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/detailfash.php?type=FASH&code=A7153&branch=&category=\head support]

UD - when i give Ds infacol I drop it in his outh and then stick my finger in his mouth so he sucks and it doesn't dribble out of his mouth.

EAH - poor ellie!!

Our wedding cars were VW camper vans!! DH has one he is restoring so he put an add on a website asking if anyone would drive us to our wedding. One guy drove from way up north and wouldn't accept any money, and the other DH flagged down in glasgow one day and also wouldn't accept any money, although we did buy them presents for their vans. They are now both really good friends!

CarrotAteAllTheEggs · 03/04/2007 21:12

Trixy, that sounds great! We have actually got a vw camper somewhere. Dp bought it to go to the Isle of Wight festival last year and I think it's still sitting on a friends bit of land not sure what state its in after it's journey though. I might copy Wilkie and put some ribbon on a friend's car.

Today, I got my dress! Pretty pleased I found it on the first day i looked, spent much more than I meant to (very clever corseting meant I got in a size 12, hooray), never thought I'd wear a veil but it looked so nice, and well, bridey?

LTH, hope the cream helps poor little George's skin

UD- hope Zac is feeling better too

and EAH= OW, that sounds very painful. When I was five I caught my foot under a door and took off all my toenails. Really hurt. I put them under my pillow and got five shiny ten p's', was almost worth it!
