Astro, my dh is doing the same thing too I'm confined to mumsnet till he's done

Astrophe · 24/12/2007 20:39

He's still going? Must be a big haul, or else he is very slow at wrapping!

Astrophe · 26/12/2007 09:25

Happy boxing day everyone - how did yesterday go?

We had a really day: Jesus birthday cake for breaky (was revolting, as the kids wanted it to be blue...!)then some pressies, talked to my folks on the phone, then church, home for some more pressies, lovely duck for lunch, a little nap (for DS and I, while DH and DD watched the new Wiggles DVD), then friends with a DS same age as DD popped in for drinks and stayed until 9pm, so two tired DC went straight to sleep and DH an I tidied up and th watched 2 episodes of House. Today we are off to the park to try out new bike and scooter, then to a friend's for tea. I hope to try out my new hair straighteners at some point too

I hope you all had similarly relaxing and happy days.
x

WeFrizYouaMerryChristmas · 27/12/2007 09:53

We had a lovely day too Astro! lots of people popped by my mums to say hi, which was lovely and we all ate far too much!

Both dd's got lots of stuff here, think the best present for dd1 has been the polly pocket race to the mall set, its had loads of use, for those who don't know, its a pink and purple car racing set, you fire the girls cars round the loop, they hitch onto a track that takes them up the hill, then they either go down the slope and back around again, or they can go down the garage bit to the mall, via the handbag pickup point both of the girls have spent agest playing with that, and also dd2's Peppa pig house.

I tidied up dd2's room yesterday (Boxing day), chucked out the cot (with dh's help) and booted out her baby toys too! so have a few bags to ebay when I get a sec (not sending anything else to Aunties for others to nick, its clothes only from now on)

laundrylover · 27/12/2007 13:31

Happy Christmas everyone - bit late sorry!

Sounds like we all had lovely Xmas days....girls got tons of stuff but mostly books which is good news....we have little twins visiting tomorrow and Tilly is quite taken with the idea of giving them some old books and hopefully toys too!

Well, DP has just set off to Hull to a family do which I wriggled out of with the excuse of working (phew)....he's back at bedtime with sleeping girls so am planning to work and then have a long, quiet bath - luxury!!

Happy New Year though I'm sure I'll be on here again before 2007 is out.

DTM - tell us more!! I'm guessing that NG is New Guy??

Frizbe · 27/12/2007 19:23

LL a bath sounds like heaven, see below for why I'm not heading there......glad you all had a good Xmas and the girls got good stuff!

Pissed off at dh here, he's been running the shop all day and is there till 20:00 as its our late night for the games club....am annoyed as he's a) automatically assumed I'd be happy looking after the kids, (rather than at work) b) when I mentioned we could do half and half he balked at the idea and then c) Waited till 16:00 before he decided, actually we could shift swap now just cause he's getting bored now eh.......oh and just about the time when all he'd have to do is feed and bed the kids..... As you can guess I've been at home with the little dahlings all day by myself, with no heating (did I mention it packed up again on Boxing Day, and can I get a plumber this week???) I think I've stuck, glued, painted, played everthing new and more and I'm craving some adult conversation!! gibber, I'd forgotten how much I like adult people until recently

laundrylover · 27/12/2007 19:51

Hugs for you Friz!!!

(whispers)...bath was lovely!!!

Frizbe · 28/12/2007 19:37

Sooo both girls shattered here, dh and I have just put them both to bed, he's downstairs now playing top trumps with ss, who has just had fun opening all his prezzies with the girls. I'm in more bother though, as dd2 forgot to buy ss a present it appears (nothing to do with the fact that I didn't know what dh had gotten him until Xmas eve and even then I didn't know he'd not wrapped 'owt for ss from dd2 )

Glad bath nice LL shower is warmest water here! either that or a boiled kettle, sigh.....

Frizbe · 29/12/2007 17:16

Hmm talking to myself eh....

Friggin freezing here, have just looked up room rate for local posh 4 star hotel (we stayed there one night for our wedding party) and just so know we can't afford it, but am so fed up with being cold and having no hot water, and knowing it won't be fixed until at least Wed is slowly killing me (on the bright side at least we have a roof over our heads, which lots of people haven't) I'm so tempted to max out our credit card and have at least one night in comfort and warmth (with the kids in an adjoining room!) There's too many of us to go to mum and dad's they just don't have the room....(well they do but its full of their stuff! and we'd all fall out...) on the plus side, as its forecast to go below zero tonight, our heating my kick in again like last time, and then I'll be again.

UniS · 29/12/2007 21:14

Hello. waves and shouts. I'm back. Did ya miss me? I survived a nearly internet free week! just a litttle surfing with my dad looking at possible holiday rental apartments for teh summer trip.
Boy liked opening presents untill we got to the train duplo set, then he just wanted to play with that. HAppily the other duplo sets he was given work well with it so it's been " choo choo chuff tunnel tunnel" ever since.

HAd a V relaxed stay with my parents( sorry, to gloat but it WAS ).took boy to run around at church during mums handbell band practice on a very cold sunday afternoon. he liked teh crib service on christmas eve, he spent most of it watching teh sound tech and desk! rather than teh animals or nativity characters. Thougton christmas morning we were going to lose him under teh alter rail to go and take a closer look at teh little crib scene.
Sympathy friz, bummer to e stariught back to work. Dh is taking off all teh days between as ist teh only time hes alowed to take leave at teh mo. hes back in harness on teh 2nd wth another deadline on teh 4th. Boy is going to miss him as he has become a total daddies boy this last week.
here hoping boilers buck their ideas up and we all get a warm new year.

Astrophe · 29/12/2007 22:53

Glad you had a nice Chrissy Uni. Isn't duplo great

Friz, at least splash out on some electric heaters and an electric blanket, even if not the hotel. (((hugs))) (warm cosy ones!)

UniS · 30/12/2007 20:47

gosh they ARE hard work when thier ill arn;t they. Boy didn;t wake up till 10.30 this morning! we knew he was running a temp from his middle of night rough patch. Was up at 38.8 when he did finally surface, Lots of milk, not much food and a gentle indoor clinging to parent day later and hes gone to bed early, still running a temp and maybe developing some spots... oh joy.
Hi Astro. waves.

laundrylover · 31/12/2007 11:37

Happy New Year for tonight girls.

What is everyone up to? We've managed to get the girls away for the whole night so are off to a friend's party for fizz a plenty.

Friz, check out the Hilton deals at the mo - DP said you could get a family room for £50 - would highly recommend...pool and everything and plenty of HOT water!!!

laundrylover · 31/12/2007 11:39

Frizbe · 31/12/2007 21:19

Happy New Year girls, am just stuffing the girls into bed, so may not make it back on here before midnight/tomorrow am, will catch up on everything then

UniS · 31/12/2007 21:59

happy new year. not staying up unnessesaryiey. have had enough midnight wakings from boy this week not to want to be awake then.
Hope you all ahve an OK 2008 and cope with what ever life throws at you in competant manner.

Frizbe · 01/01/2008 20:24

Happy 2008 girls!

Thanks for the Hilton link, off to check that out LL

Uni, they're not much fun when poorly eh...how is he today? better I hope? or have you got the pox? its going round again here
Thanks for the NY wishes, although am pondering if I'm compatant at anything?!

Astro I was just about to do that, when Meridian came to our rescue with two elecky heaters from her loft, so much love and hugs go to her and her family from parting with them to keep us warmer

Here's hoping the boiler chap can come to us tomorrow girls, not fancying snow with still no hot water or heating
We did the pub early last night for a meal with my parents and some friends, then home for 8.30ish (hence my quick post on here, then dh, ss and I played Risk till 11:45, before watching Jools Holland etc) put ss to bed at 12:15, we went to bed at 1am then dd2 joined us at 3am
Dh is a love though, he let me lie in till 9.30am bless him

Ooh got rid of the two stairgates downstairs today (kitchen door and hall) doesn't it make your house look huge again

laundrylover · 02/01/2008 11:07

It's 2008 ladies - where did 2007 go????

Friz, I hope you are at the Hilton by now!

Uni, hope the boy is better and that he slept through for you last night. We all slept until 9.30am today!!! Hopefully this will restore the girls to something more normal as the constant tears and tantrums are wearing me down. Also Kiah had one day where she peed her pants twice, once in a shoe shop, for no apparent reason. Back to being dry yesterday though.

Tilly had her ears hoovered out at hospital on Mon - it was great and a HUGE plug came out of her left ear so maybe she'll be able to hear us a bit better now. I really wanted them to do mine but thought they may object to me hopping on the bed!!

Astro, hope you had a nice New Years Eve. We went to a friends party, just 10 of us, had some fizz and then watched all the fireworks from their garden as they live at the top of the valley. Fab and free.

UniS · 02/01/2008 14:50

Urrgh, ear wax plugs, grim, but kinda fasinating... My turn for teh medics next week, I'm off to see a physio for some ultrasound on my dodgy wrist on monday. Its been getting better but still twinges, hopefully she will think it better /worse enough for ultrasound to be worth doing.

Thanks for asking, boy doesn;t "seem" to have C-pox. hes back to noirmalish now. Asleep at teh mo having had a HUGE ( by his current standards) lunch of 2 rolls and 2 helpings of carrot and tomato soup. I think that may be more vegtable matter consumed in one meal than hes had in total over teh last 2 weeks.

Its getting kinda chilly today. hope your heaters do teh biz friz. Could you all move into the shop? Hot water bottles all round at bedtime ?

laundrylover · 02/01/2008 17:00

The ear wax was very interesting - same as the stuff that came out of one of my ear piercings the other week thanks to my sister!! I had three women fighting over who could squeeze it out!

Glad that it wasn't the pox and that he's eating again.

DP had a run in with our nursery this morning as they are charging us for last week even though they were shut!!! The childcare is great but the customer care is crap and so am thinking I may find an alternative.....

Astrophe · 02/01/2008 19:48

LL, we used to pay over the holidays for nursery as well but now we don't as DD only has a 'term placement'.We thought it was really cheeky though, but what can you do? DD told me told me today that she doesn't want to go to nursery any more, so I hope she settles back ok next week. This is the longest she has had off since she started at 2 years 3 months!

I hit the sales today - got DS new shoes (he had the same pair for 7 months! I can't believe we actually got our money's worth from kids shoes for once!) and some calf length boots for me...blew the budget a little, but I love 'em.

We put our two down for a afternoon nap on the 31st and they then kicked on until midnight! We were at a party, just chatting and drinking and playing tennis on a Wii, which was fun. I managed to pull a muscle, which all the 'young' people thought was hilarious - I am really feeling my age (not yet 30!)

Glad your lad is on the mend Uni, and Friz, I hope the bolier is back today, before we have snow. The wind today was icy, must be even colder where you are!

Frizbe · 02/01/2008 21:54

Yay for boy being better Uni, hope your wrist gets sorted too. Uni, shop not an option, only two storage heaters in there too! may be taking my friends loaned elecky one over there tomorrow actually! there's also a cellar below that makes the front of the shop colder than it should be, brrrrr.

Astro, yep brrrrrr up here, wind is whistling around the front door, shiver.....
more on boiler below!

LL, thanks for the link, I wanted to go, but dh said no bah! he says I'm going soft, I don't think I week with no heat or hot water is soft......anyway....

We got heatand hot water and a small bill for £55....for putting the earthing wire back onto the bit it had fallen off behind the circuit board apparently......let's hope it was just that and it doesn't go again eh.

Bad mother award goes to me today too, lost rag at dd1 this am, her constant pestering got her a sponge mini roll thrown at her must remember not to lower myself to her level I did apologise to her, after she said sorry for nagging me, when I was trying to sort the banking out bad mother.....

dd2 was happy though, got a whole swimming lesson to herself, as no one else turned up just us two and the swim teacher....it would have benifited dd1 more somehow me thinks

Frizbe · 02/01/2008 21:55

We pay for nursery hols too, but I guess they have to pay for there staff to have hols to, so don't begrudge it, not as if nursery staff are paid loads anyway.

Frizbe · 04/01/2008 20:17

Hmm talking to myself again
we found dd2 in bed with us at 3am today, que dh taking her back to bed and 1 hr of controlled (if you can call it that) crying which we endured till she dropped off in her own bed, till 5.30am when she attempted to get back in ours again, so I took her back and played at getting her to stay in her own bed again for an hour, before giving up and getting up (not good as I was still on here at 12:30 last night!)
