did you find the supplier of the doors? I have their website if you didn't from 1200 for the foldy back doors......that site of yours looks lovely though. We'll just be going with boring conservatory for here, as not planning on staying in the long run, now the next house, my fab farmhouse in the country, now that will get gutted!! (I'll be in me B&Q conservatory for many a year to come )

laundrylover · 23/06/2007 08:43

send us the door supplier Friz - that company does doors too but options (esp. cheaper ones) welcomed!

Just printing Night Garden colouring sheets off to keep girls occupied for 3 whole minutes whilst I read 2 pages of the Guardian.

UniSarah · 25/06/2007 10:11

HELLO. sorry its ben sooolong, but I'm back for a bit. Till next bout of work hits me in a weeks time anyway.
This wekends outdoor show I was working on was a very soggy experience, teh build was wet, the tear down was VERy wet but teh show its self was dry thankfully. We left teh feild looking like teh LARPers had done WW1 in one corner as teh telehandler was tearing up teh ground with every pass and no other vehicle could get on to the feild at all. 3.5 ton of generator plus 3 ton of telehandler leaves some deep trenches.
Holiday was fun. came back a few pounds lighter thanks to all the cycling. We only had one epic day of rain through which we cycled as there was nothing better to do. We got VERY lucky with acomadation on teh 2 nights we chose not to camp and found B&B rooms. 1st time it turned out to be an apartment above the garage so boy could and did shout a lot with out bothering teh hosts, 2nd time we ulled up out side option 3 ( 1 & 2 were full, we were getting worried) at same time as german couple with bike on their car, they took one look at our drowned rat appearence and told us to go and ask 1st as they could drive on some where else if we got the last bed.
On teh whole boy enjoyed it all, pottering about campsites, fiddling with bike pedals and playing fetch with a ball. His walking has improved lots as we have expected him to walk to shower blocks etc, didn't matter if it took 20 minutes we had time. We also made him walk round towns at lunch time to get him active after being in the trailer for a couple of hours.
Hes not to well now tho. seemed a bit off coulour for Dh yesterday, wanting lots of books and sitting down more than normal, this morning he slept late had milk, refused weetabix had more milk and was so grumpy I put him back to bed at 9.15, been asleep ever since. ho hum, wonder waht hes coming down with, hope its quick.
al this home inprovemnet stuff makes me feel guitly, have been planning a bathroom re-vamp for months, just havn;t quite got round to doing any thig about it. really must.

Glad you had good hols Uni sorry to hear ds isn't feeling upto much at the mo though
Got a thing thru from Focus, with 342 offer on today, so may invest in paint for living room, as is getting rather grotty....if we send my mum in on a wed, she can get her oap 10% off as well

LL will send you that link then!

So we had a fun weekend, managed to miss most of the rain.....lucky it rained Fri night and Sat night and not during the day hurrah! dd1 appears to be over her tent in the rain phobia as well, and both girls have slept till 8.30am three days on the trot! hurrah!! this resulted in me banging them into nursery this am rather rapidly and begging for breakfast for them though and
dd2 spent much of the weekend climbing onto various things around the forest and then throwing herself off them and rolling I blame myself for all the aikido when she was a mere bump

laundrylover · 26/06/2007 09:45

Hi Friz and Uni,

Do you think the boy may be teething Uni? Kiah is a complete grump at the mo but has cut 3 new teeth and I reckon some back ones are coming too. I hope they both cheer up soon - I'm such a fishwife every day it gets me down but what with the constant whinging from the pair of them I'm finding it tough going.

Anyway DP has taken them off for the day doing all sorts of errands so he can get stressed instead.

Tile shopping yesterday.....thankfully one salesman gave them a choc hobnob so reckon he'll be getting our business!! The ones we really liked for the floor look like rusty metal but are £70 a square metre so we found some coppery ones at £30. Going to look at linoleum too though as reckon it'll be a bit warmer underfoot and is good eco rating wise.

We haggled for an old chest of drawers and got it for £135 which we will butcher a bit as the basin will sit on top of it...basin and trendy radiator are ex display and suite will come form B&Q....we use DP's parents for the OAP price.

So, now have to get a shower, decide on flooring and tiling still, lighting...erm loo roll holder that isn't £50 (hello??)....so much planning for one small room! Uni, I'd stick with your old one if it isn't orange.

Frizbe · 26/06/2007 13:03

LL the only thing I'd say re lino is, although its a bit warmer, it dents and rips easily with small people about, ours (which will be relaced one of these years) has wax crayon which won't come off on it, from ss (then aged 4) it has two rips where washing machine had to be taken out, and where diswasher went in and an assortment of smaller lumps and bumps......it came with the house, but I wouldn't choose it again, instead I'd go either tile, or underfloor heating and tile. PS: Our kitchen floor is freezing cold even with lino!

Boo for the kids making you a fishwife, I know what you mean, I catch myself sounding the same some days, it's just their age. Keep thinking in roughly a year, dd1 will be at school all day and dd2 will be at pre school, that thought sobers me up, cause it all goes so fast from then on No I am not getting broody!

laundrylover · 26/06/2007 13:14

Good thoughts re lino but we would go for the proper lino and not vinyl which is much better I think. Much more expensive that's for sure!! Shouldn't be too cold with the 3,500 BTU radiator!!!

I agree about the kid's ages. I'm a bit frazzled at the mo and not sure why. Things are getting on top of me so could do with a day with my sister helping to sort out rooms/clothes/toys etc but sadly since her MC my sis has changed a bit and isn't as willing to help me or the kids. I guess she is feeling down too so can't blame her. Anyway DP has a few weeks dedicated to the house coming up so maybe together we can tackle some of the mess?

Sorry for the moan...off to slather a few Ryvitas with very naughty blue cheese and lovely little orange tomatoes that I bought at the farmer's market on Sunday...mmmmmm!

UniSarah · 26/06/2007 20:07

Teething- I wish it twere so simple. hes been teething non stop since 4 months and cut 2 molars and 2 canines while we were away. I more molar still bubbling under in a nasty way then we MAY get a rest. No I recon its viral, hes got a bit of a rash today but has been a much happier normal boy.
Bathroom- well its not orange, but it is butterscotch. Almost as bad. We aim to replave with white with a bit of dark green or blue in the tiling. Floor staying wood block parquet as is now coz its the same colour as the door.
Real Lino is reconed to be V hard wearing and fairly eco IIRC.
Don't talk about preschool ... its far to early surely.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 27/06/2007 10:23

What a marathon teething session Uni! Glad the boy is a bit happier today, rash or no rash.

Butterscotch - actually I think that may be the colour of our suite! It's not that bright orange, more beige but I was struggling to describe it! Anyway it's fow as we'd say at school.

Found some very cheap metallic looking tiles so may get my way with very expensive glass border.

Uni, I know you think pre school is far away but when you've got two little blighters playing up you do dream of the days to come!!! For me bring on Sept and regular child care, hopefully some new contracts and just some 'quality time' with my delightful daughters each day.

Frizbe · 27/06/2007 14:20

at you ll, quality time
Hows the water up your way??? soggy here today, but no floods, the delights of hill living! bil phoned earlier to see if we were sinking, I had to re point out we're about 25miles south of the mess. Geography is not his strong point

Butterscotch doesn't sound too bad ours are beige and cream

Nursery has hand, foot and mouth hopeing dd2 doesn't get it (it was in her room)

laundrylover · 27/06/2007 15:04

It's kind of sunny today and was lovely yesterday. We've not really had flood issues near here but like you we live on a big hill. My rels were driving to Nottingham today and said that the M1 was still shut.

Gotta be a white suite for me Friz, I'll have to email you a photo of the yukkiness!

Hand, foot and mouth - ugh! Hope she avoids it...

Frizbe · 27/06/2007 16:22

ok email me away!!

UniSarah · 27/06/2007 19:32

HF&M been there done that, can be nasty! so fairly sure its not that this time, seems to be calming down so am mum diagnosing a non specific viral thing. I think hes over it enough to go to hueristic play tomorrow. But wasn't having him MMRed yesterday.
Its not looking like a dry weekend coming, suspect our NCT teedy bears picnic will be a wash out.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 28/06/2007 09:30

Oh no, picnic is not a good plan for this weekend anywhere you can do it indoors??

Where oh where is our vat return???? I did it 3 weeks ago (efficient n all that as on top of things for once) and then gave to dh to sign, he gave it back apparently saying he'd do it at end of month when forced

laundrylover · 28/06/2007 11:08

Uni, this weather is so up and down I can't keep up! Put washing out anyway but I agree with Friz, it's not the time for picnics!!

Just printing off newsletters for Playgroup and sending minutes round - the joys of voluntary work distracting from real work!

Friz, get looking for the VAT return woman - bet it's under a pile of paintings and has also been 'signed' by DD1!!!

DP and I are putting off our tax return as of course we lost all the invoices and accounts in the great laptop crash! Think it is supposed to be done for Aug though to get tax credits sorted out eh? I feel a tetchy day together in the office coming on....

Frizbe · 28/06/2007 17:06

Found it! phew, although it'll be late in, as no cheque signed for it at the moment.... and postal strike tomorrow, fine heading our way me thinks

LL, tax credits estimated by end of July, else they stop your money and ask for it all back, then they want actual by end of Aug

UniSarah · 28/06/2007 19:54

Dh found his last 2 P60s in differnt places, I still havn;t done my side of teh tax credit form. Boy is being difficult about going to sleep tonight, prob my fault as I let him nap 4-5.15 this afternoon as he hadn;t had a lunchtime sleep.
Picnic is out doors only unles one wished to buy beverages from the ratehr pricey cafe on site.
Mums and tots outig tomorrow has just been called off, maybe i sohould bung off an e-mail in case picnic is similary cancelled.
Going to recue boy as well, bye, back later?

OP posts:
Frizbe · 29/06/2007 17:53

Uni, what's it been like today then? it cleared up here this afternoon, is sunny but windy at present. We've been playing out this afternoon, before dd2 did a 2hr sleep (I woke her up to her disgust!)dd1 and I did sticking and colouring

Yay for finding things! got all of ours in the post now, tax returns gone off, (boo!) etc just wait and see if everyone agrees now.....

Off to Scarborough (well just outside actually) this weekend visiting friends, so if I'm not about you know why! fingers x'd they've got all the forecasts wrong, and we can get on the beach tomorrow (yeah right!)

Just debating whether to go gym tonight or not, my buddy has dropped out on me, so pizza and wine are sounding nicer, but reckon my waistline could do with gym 1st, hmmmm eh!

UniSarah · 30/06/2007 21:52

rain rain go away.
picnic cancelled, I helped neighbours pack a van for their big house move tomorrow instead while boy and dh went to dads play group. Boy had a big nap and I took him to teh supermatket while dh popped into teh office to catch up on work. What an interesting saturday, NOT.
Hoep you got on with more interesing things today.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 02/07/2007 10:38

Hello,

DP has had a revelation and said that as we are moving the boiler we can now have a new kitchen (free standing budget Ikea one) and a gas range. This is because of all the pipework needing to go behind the units and also because I screamed at the crap cooker and kicked it in a fit of rage the other day. Anyway, Sis and BIL have got the kids (they are off to Tanzania for their honeymoon on Weds) so we are, yet again, off to the plumbers, discount cooker shop and lunch at Ikea.......hurrah!

Pouring down again but got my arse in gear and took washed nappies up to my Mum's to hang around the rayburn.

How was the beach Friz?

Frizbe · 02/07/2007 13:16

Thanks for asking LL!

We enjoyed Yorkshire, saw the sea on Saturday, and did a quick go on the arcades, then went to friends and drank lots of wine and the kids played happily. Dd2 got over excited though and got up at 11pm and didn't go back to sleep until about 2.30am, when she passed out on the bed between me and dh.... then we all had a lovely walk through the fields yesterday, before lunch and heading home, just as a huge thunderstorm descended. So a good one here , great to catch up with people you know!

So which kitchen have you chosen LL?

Uni hope the neighbours house move went ok, have you met your new ones yet? any good?
Hoping it will eventually stop raining enough for all of us to do something eh...

UniSarah · 02/07/2007 15:23

Don;t you just love it when they do that all excited manic creature thing at 11pm. boy did it one night in teh tent on holiday, Dh cracked 1st and bundled him into the trailer to go for a walk round teh site, didn;t work, nor did another breat feed and a fresh start, he still had to cuddled to sleep by daddy .

No sign of new neighbours yet, but its a rented house so might be a gap. I'm not overly bothered about who they are, it s a house over teh road and along a bit. We got friendly with them as both cycling families with kiddy trailers. They were more hardcore than us and had no car.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 02/07/2007 17:24

Wow very brave of them!! I like my car for certain things
Its great that raving in the middle of the night thing
I have drugs have to get a repeat of them on friday, as they can't get me in for a re do of my now leaking filling for another 2.5 wks....apparently I have a small hole in this one n stuff is getting behind it, bah.

laundrylover · 02/07/2007 21:21

Ouch for your tooth Friz.

We are having an Udden sink unit and another Udden stainless steel top one. Also 2 Varde drawer units with wooden worktops. Three Udden black wall cupboards too and the white glass splash back. Think it will look rather good and draw the eye away from our gopping tiles! Just online looking for a good price on a shiny range cooker to go with it....

We ordered a bath today (Ben de Lisi), bought a shower and a shower screen - wow, this is real progress. Still need taps though...

Frizbe · 02/07/2007 23:15

cool is sounding funky, don't forget to barter for the cooker now!

Have been aqua aerobics tonight, was fun
