hurrah for winning pass Uni great to swim every day, mind you I only live over the road from our centre, but we don't manage every day......maybe we should???? hmmm may look into that one, small pool has to be open though seeing as both dd's are now in the swim acadamy programme I can take them free all the time!!! (lessons once a week)

Off to Toy Library party this afternoon here, then who knows what!! have strawbs to plant, so prob that, and cake to make, car to clean....dh is away at ss's karate tournament, virtual day long job.....so guess I'd better get cracking!

laundrylover · 04/06/2007 11:24

Hello all,

We got back from hols yesterday an now have tons of work to do this week. My keyboard is misbehaving which won't help. Just caught up on this very slow thread - hi to Caddy. at DD2 Friz and many thanks for the paper, pink jelly vibes to Astro and water baby thoughts to Uni. Smiley - are you back from Wales??

We've had a fab holiday despite me being a bit grumpy!! I've eaten like a pig so am dreading weigh in on Weds. Just remembered 'well done Astro'. The wedding was lovely and despite a flurry of snow on the top of the mountain, the weather stayed dry. It was cold though, especially for BIL in his kilt! It's a beautiful area of Scotland and Findhorn is a cool place to stay - we saw seals but missed the dolphins Bloody long drive though and glad I'm flying up in the summer. My carbon footprint wins out over my mental health at the idea of 400 miles with the girls in a car on my own.

UniSarah · 04/06/2007 13:30

Welcome back from the fozen north LL.
I shouldn't be on MN, I should be out planting teh Strawbs and cucumber plantlets I picked up yesterday. Might wait til evening tho, maybe it'd be kinder to the tender wee things.

Frizbe · 04/06/2007 21:15

I've got some strawbs too Uni and I can report my courgettes are growing have two so far with more flowers on the way!! 2 x pumpkins in too, although I've never managed to grow one yet that's not gone rotten before picking.....also got Toms and Carrotts, with mum brings some beans over on Wed as well.

Well that is if dh is ok, he's off work with sick n trots think its from dd2 have sick last thur/fri......and dd1 having trots last sun-Tue.....odds on me being ill for the weekend???

LL glad you had a great time Scotland is so beautiful when its not raining or snowing!! reckon your right with the flight though

Astro hows the party going/gone?

Smiley, what's happening with you?

Cadmum · 05/06/2007 08:50

Hello there again.

DS1 (10) has been sick for nearly a week with a high fever and sore throat. We took him into the hospital on Sunday (at GP's insistence) only to be told that it was viral. His temp at the hospital was 39.9 only 2 hours post Nurofen so they saw him at a pretty low point. He is still on the couch and unable to do much although he is more chipper today. He has lost 4 kg!

DD2 is also fevered since yesterday. Thank heavens she is still BF or I can't imagine keeping her hydrated...

So far the rest of us have escaped unharmed.

The kids and I were supposed to be off to Bosnia tomorrow for the week-end (Thursday is a holiday here) but we had to cancel because of a sick (and potentially sicker) household. I am but resigned to it now. Poor DH really wanted the time to work on his PhD without us underfoot but it was not to be.

We have done no planting this year but we have a glorious cherry tree out front and I made a home-made pie on Sunday night. DELICIOUS!!

Cadmum · 05/06/2007 08:54

LL, I agree that Scotland is a beautiful corner of the world but at snow in May. That sounds more like Canada! I know what you mean about driving with the LO! My mum thinks that we should drive the 14 hours to visit the in-laws this summer but I would sooner DIE! The plane will make the journey wether or not you are flying...

I

Frizbe · 05/06/2007 10:44

A 14hr drive with kids Caddy your mum is nuts tell you what, why don't you fly with littlest one and leave your mum to drive with the others. It will be a lesson learnt
Yum for cherry pie

dd2 is currently sitting on her magnetic drawing pad, trying to scribble at the same time

Cadmum · 05/06/2007 15:48

Friz: Sadly, my mother would drive with all of them without a complaint. Canadians tend to love road trips and 14 hours doesn't get you very far at home!

Frizbe · 05/06/2007 18:36

Really Caddy then all Canadians are definatley nuts I've done long road trips thru USA and defo wouldn't do them with kids!!

laundrylover · 05/06/2007 21:42

Hello all,

Caddy, the average temp on the top of Cairngorm in May is -1.5 degrees!! The madder members of my family were up there in 6 inches of snow and found a weather station which informed them of this fact!!

Not sure why anyone would want to spend 14 hours with their kids - never mind in a car!.

Friz, had a proper look at the paper today and there are some lovely pics eh? Still have to do my donation - it's on the list!!!

Off for a bath as have to finish my book for book group tomorrow night...

Frizbe · 06/06/2007 16:02

Hmmm should I start a book group, it might encourage me to read more.......

Hopefully off to see Pirates tonight

going to wake dd2 up, went swimming and she went to bed at 1.30 still fast off.....

laundrylover · 06/06/2007 16:14

You're brave letting her sleep so long! My mum is trying to keep Tilly up all day today so that I can get her bedtime routine back on track....she's insisting on sleeping naked and coverless at the mo!

Have heard mixed reviews about Pirates so let us know what you think...

BTW I think I forgot to tell you that naughty Kiah stayed over at my sisters, woke up in the night and settled between the newly weds....sis woke up with small toddler attached to her nipple! Kiah let go, giggled and said 'booby'.

Astrophe · 06/06/2007 22:13

Aaargh! DH just off the phone after having had a big arguement with Orange, who said we had a 12 month contract (we didn't)...so now the internet is cancelled as of NOW...not on Friday as we had planned.

Just letting you k ow we will be off air for a month for some strange unfathomable reason to do with BT and TalkTalk both being idiots. Will try to hook into a friends wireless and say hi, but otherwise wont be on until we get back from 2 weeks in Ireland (29th July).

So happy June ladies!

Astrophe · 06/06/2007 22:22

pHEW, glad that is posted now, was scared they would cut us off before I could post and you would all think I had dropped off the planet.

DD's 3rd birthday today - she had a mountain of pressies and was abit overwhelmed, but then took cupcakes to nursery and had a nice day there. Her favourite presents are some little woden dollies with loads of different outfits, and a recorder which she toots while DS imitates the tooting by squealing (what on earth was I thinking???). She was also thrilled with pink nail varnish someone gave her, which she she has sinse spilt all over our white rug.

Little 'pink' party on Monday was nice - pink spotty cake, pink jelly and pink rice crispie cakes were a sucess...pink mash was NOT!!! ("ew...I don't like pink mash...its horrible"...it had about a teaspoon of tomato paste in it!)

Have started packing boxes now - how on earth have we accumulated so much stuff in 18 months??? Its quite useful to see, as we will have to do some major culling to what we ship back to Australia.

Must do some more before hitting the sack...am feeling all sicky and shakey - a bit stressed I think, so needs some sleep.

Love to you all, take care (especially you Caddy, with all that sickness at your house )

x Astro

Frizbe · 07/06/2007 07:58

oh Bye then Astro!! (waves down the hill into Derby!)
Hope you have an ok time of the move, its never amusing......in fact don't want to think about attempting moving with kids in tow, if we ever get out of here, they will be banished to the Grandparents for the duration, especially as dd2 likes to unpack what ever your packing at the mo.......

Gld the pink party went well and that dd1 had a fab day, Happy Birthday dd1

LL, at Booby, very amusing, dd2 here still nuzzles any available booby in hope too

So looks like dh trained dd2 to get up early, the rest of the kids are still snoring, but at 6.45 I had to get up and get her.......did stick my head under the covers from 6am.....in fact better kick the rest of them, or dd1 will be late for pre school

laundrylover · 07/06/2007 10:44

Oh Astro - gone for so long!! Good luck with the move. Happy Birthday to L - they're so grown up at 3 aren't they? Love the pink party idea - try beetroot with your tatties it makes the best pink mash ever. BTW we changed our phone number in the end so that we could get phone and internet quicker - modern technology is so crap!

Need to get some work done today but have the squits so my tummy is really poorly. Maybe too much wine at book group?

Caddy, last night I realised that I forgot to say how awful it sounds you all being ill and having tot go to hospital etc. Hope the virus is on it's way out and you're all feeling better. I think maybe your DH should go away for the weekend to get his writing done and leave you and the kids at home eh?

UniSarah · 07/06/2007 13:24

Hi All
I'm grabbing some MN time while boy is asleep and I'm printing lots of copies of the words, happy fathers day and daddy, grandad etc. My turn for craft at tots tomorrow. We will be doing scribbling and sticking fathers day words on to make the must have pressie for any proud Grandad! Actully i need to get boy to do one this afternoon so I have an example to show, also roads tests weather it is an accessable craft for the inept as boy is one of the younger set. Some paremts come up with lovely ideas but most of the kids can't DO it as to fiddly.
At Hurestic play this morning Boy decided to sit ,not on my lap like he normally does , but on the play leaders lap! She became his base camp. It was rather nice as I could see his face for a change, he spends a lot of time watching the other kids and "chatting" to them.

Moving with kids- I don't want to even think about it.
Caddy, hope all feeling better soon.

Astrophe · 07/06/2007 19:19

well, they have cut off th phone, but not the braodband, which is very strange!

Had the most horrendous day - almost fainted at the gym during my class - just came over all dizzy and odd. Weighed myself after class and according to their scales I have lost 3kg (1lb?) in 10 days. I don't think I really have, think I was probably very dehydrated, hence weight loss and dizzyness. Anyway, not much fun. Came home and DS SCREAMED all afternoon - literally screamed, even after neurofen, and finally fell asleep in my arms. DD thankfully occupied watching all the DVDs she got for her birthday - she though it was Christmas as she is normally only allowed one a day!

DS seems ok now, throwing balloons around with DD. I think him molars are giving him grief.

Anyhoo, should put these monkies in the bath. Hope DS will sleep after falling asleep so late today. I am knackered.
