staceym11 · 14/03/2007 07:59

well dh came home last night, apparantly he doesnt know whats going on but he knows he loves us all and wants to be here. and now hes trying to act like everything is ok, and yesterday never happened.

think we need to get rid of the kids for a bit so we can sort it out properly, i cant pretend it never happened, my world came crashing down and he just wants me to forget it! hopefully it means he wont be leaving, but hes got some explaining to do!!

thanks for all the kind words!

yeah just utterly confused by it all!

HappyCatandIzzy · 14/03/2007 11:46

For anyone who has got HV complaining about their LO's weight gain, I had the same problems a few weeks ago. It took DD ages to reach 10lb and I had HV asking me what I was eating and telling me to eat everything in sight. I did eat loads the following week and she put on more weight than ever before, but I've since started eating less again (only one cake a day rather than two!) and her weight gain has continued to be very good. Some health professionals apparently don't believe breastfed babies should be weighed at all as babies are individuals and don't all follow the graphs. My LO certainly isn't following the graph in her red book.

Stacey - I really hope you are ok.

Debbsyandson · 14/03/2007 12:00

Stace me and dh have been a bit like this,so if you need to talk im here with my big eyes and ears xxx Will catch up later we are out for the day,we have been to baby massage on monday now we are off to baby group then to a garden centre so cant catch up just yet back later xx

podglet · 14/03/2007 14:18

Happycat - The graph in DS's book is based on formula feeding not bf, the lines are different (they do not rise as steeply). I have no idea why they don't put both graphs in there and here in Essex you have to ask for the bf graphs - I have asked and asked til I am sick of it

Stacey, glad your DH came home but it does sound like you need to talk, hope you are ok.

yeah ok as i said thoroughly confused but ok!

well ds seems to be doing much better with feeding, we'r now managing 6oz bottles almost everytime about every4-5 hours, so much better than 2-3ozs every 3 hrs!!

podglet · 14/03/2007 16:05

Mygirl, they do publish them (so I have been told) but it would appear that they aren't very eager to let on about them. I really don't understand why, everyone harps on about bf, yet these are based on ff??? My friend is going to try and get me some graphs from her HV who is brill - if you like, I can scan them in and email them to you, when I get them?

Well this is all very interesting, just came back to talking with the HV and clinic doctor about DD's weight too. I was really excited as she has been putting away 6oz bottles at night and my boobs have been leaking etc so was sure that she would have leaped back up in the charts but she hadn't put on any weight at all!!!!

I was really upset actually as it meant she was down on the last percentile now so HV let me see the doctor. They said they were really pro-breastfeeding but as she was down on the bottom and I seem to be feeding ok they want me to try a bit more formula rather than one bottle day to see if that boosts her. Also to re-introduce breastfeeding during the night as milk should be at its peak. Bummer! as I was starting to get used to sleeping through to 5-6am.

I will ask about BF graphs as I am in Essex and they keep claiming to be BF friendly. Actually DH being the hardest, totally freaking out she has some major problem and wants to just formula feed etc so have to tell him to get on the bandwagon and not to make things worse.

But most reassuring to hear that it isn't just her. Keep looking whistfully at the other fat babies...

Stacey - I hope you and dh get the chance to talk and connect again. It is so so hard to keep relationships healthy when you are so bloody tired and caught up in baby world.

NatalieJane · 14/03/2007 21:14

Stacey, I am just echoing everyone else really, hope things turn the corner soon

Had George weighed today, he is 17lb 5oz at 13.6, he also had his second lot of injections I don't like that bit, the poor thing sat there all happy and smiling and then the witches just stick them both in at the same time on different legs I hate it.

But we went to a Wacky Warehouse for dinner, I played in the ball pit LOL I don't think I will ever grow up when it comes to soft land!! LOL DS1 loved it as usual. 4 days to go till the big day

I am off to watch Grand Designs, DH has had it on pause for ages waiting for me Chin up Stace, G'night everyone xxx

Tinasan · 14/03/2007 21:46

Stacey, I hope that you managed to talk everything through with your dh today and got things sorted out. I think every relationship has its moments when the babies arrive, I know mine certainly has!

Had DD weighed yesterday - she is only 13lb 14 at 20 weeks, I had thought she was already over 14lb but had got mixed up with the metric to imperial conversion charts at the last visit. Anyway, she's dropped from the 50th centile at birth to the 25th now - I'm not really worried at all as she seems very healthy, alert and active etc but the HV wants me to introduce solids...I'd really wanted to wait until 6 months as both me and dh have allergies. Does anybody wait until 6 months, or are you all giving solids already? Any tips or advice most welcome!

staceym11 · 14/03/2007 22:18

tinasan, if you want to wait till 6 months wait till 6 months, the hv shouldnt be advising it if you aren't thinking of it anyway.

ds has had some solids when he felt like it (oh and the gingerbread mans leg that dd fed him!) but he hasn't been weaned by any stretch of the immagination! he only gets them when he refuses his milk, which he hasnt been doing much lately!

good luck with it all! and thatnks for all the kind words everyone!

I think as long as the baby is happy and content, bugger what the scales say and how much they are eating (or not) if they are happy then that is the main thing, and things don't need to change.

I am just going to add a new picture of George in his Jumperoo thingy, I wish we could catch him smiling, our camera flashes twice the first one is for reducing red eye, which is great because none of our pictures have red eyes, but the first flash makes him stop smiling so when the second flash goes off and the picture is taken he is looking a bit stunned. Oh well, hope everyone is well

Sorry you didnt get on very well mygirl, gps can be so annoying cant they?
Nat just seen pickie of George (bloody hell whats in your breast milk then) he is huge! proper chunky gorgeous little boy, does he like his jumparoo we are thinking of getting one not sure though as i like the leap frog one and the baby einstein one, unsure which one to go for.

Debbsyandson · 15/03/2007 16:16

mygirl is there not another gp you can see preferably one with a bit of empathy.

NatalieJane · 15/03/2007 17:40

Mygirl, I think if the doctor was worried about her feet he would have said, wouldn't he? Maybe he is of the opinion that they will be OK? Not very reassuring for you though I can imagine.

Debbsy, DS1 had one like the Einstein one and he loved it, I can still remember his face when we first put him in it The Jumperoo doesn't have so many toys on it and it is quite large (bigger than the Einstein), but if you have the room for it I'd say go for it, George has loved it today, he cried when I took him out of it!! Just be careful how long you leave him in it for, it says 20 minutes but TBH at first he will get too tired to stay in it for 20 minutes. And the breast milk contains everything it probably shouldn't !!

Just had DS1's parents evening, his Teacher said she doesn't think she has ever had to tell him off, and he is doing really well with his writing and reading despite all of the time off he has had recently, so I can stop worrying that he has missed too much to catch up easily!

DH is home, I am off for my cuddle xxx

Charleesunnysunsun · 15/03/2007 19:32

Hello all

Im am being so slack about posting just latley i tought i would have a proper catch up!

Harry is 18 weeks now and a little cherub! He is so alert and all he wants to do is stand up (supported obviously!) and sit up and he kicks all day i think he's a budding Beckham!
He has a proper little laugh now it is so cute.
He is eating 1 solid meal a day, well i say meal he has 3-4 tsps of either porridge or fruit puree with his bottle, he doesn't seem really fussed at all.

He is sleeping well although he does think that 3am is a perfectly aceptable time to play! I have other ideas

He is 15lb 7oz now is 69cm he is growing well.

He has a constant mad professor hair style it stands on end and he has massive amounts of it, i can't get it to stay down!

Jack is ok he is being a horrible beast which i suppose is good! He is well into the 'pushing the boundries stage' which is so fun! NOT!
He is taking his meds and having daily physio so that's all good.

I'm ok, im planning on going back to my g.p and talk to him about my anti d's. I am having huge excessive mood swings and it's getting us all down. I do suffer with manic depression so i think i just maybe need my medication adjusting. or maybe it's the hormones where i have cut breast feeding down slightly. who knows?

Anyway i hope your all well. xxx

NatalieJane · 16/03/2007 13:28

It is quiet on here today!

Glad things seem to be going a bit more smoothly Charlee Hope the GP works out for you.

I have been to DS1's Mother's Day assembly today, it was also his class's turn to 'do' assembly as well, so they all had painted a picture of themselves with their mums, and then they had to stand up in turn and say why they loved their mums, all the kids were saying "I love my Mum because... she gives me kisses/takes me to bed/looks after me/cooks tea..." etc. DS stood up and said "I love my mum because she takes me to the shops"!!! WTF?!! LOL Thanks a lot my little ray of sunshine He got a certificate for good behaviour in the playground and then he had to stand up again for everyone to sing happy birthday to him (and the others who had birthdays this week) and get his little pressie, was quite sweet

I have my sister and her hubbie and son coming up from Cheltenham tomorrow, we are really close and don't get to see too much of each other although we talk on the phone every week, but I do look forward to seeing them She sent me a picture on my phone this morning of my nephew with all his hair stuck up on end sprayed bright bright bright red LOL

And we had a rather flush day yesterday, in the morning DS1 and I did some scratch cards I'd got at Asda a few days ago, I won a tenner on mine and he won £27 on his which was a lovely start to the day, and then DH came home and opened his post and had a cheque for £170 tax return But best of all I put some washing on and then found a quid in the washer

Only have tomorrow and then it is his birthday, I am so excited I can't believe he is going to be 5, I can't believe it was 5 years ago I was sat, overdue, facing induction, absolutely shitting myself to be frank LOL

Right enough, the bathroom is calling me to get it cleaned up! xxx
