Hi all

Just a quickie to let you know my big day was perfect.Wouldn't change anything!!!!

Will try to figure out the posting pics thing this week.

xx

Twink so sorry I forgot to offer condolences on how shit your job re-evaluation thing sounds,so stressful! Whilst at work, we had to start doing these self-assessment things, and I was rubbish at them, always used to email my big sister the forms so she could fill them in for me, she's great at that sort of thing. They are always so generic it didn't even matter that she didn't even get what I did for a living!!

Does anyone else watch Wife Swap? We were joking on Sunday night cos I was saying we would never go on it cos Dh would end up with some domestic goddess that cooked him 5 course meals every night and he wouldn't want me back....and he said "yes i would, I'd want you back for your 6 figure salary.....oh yeah you don't have one anymore......hmmmm maybe you're right...." The cheek of it!!!

BF came round with 6 week old DS this afternoon, spent it in the garden with my two. It was so nice, our friendship seems even stronger now that she understands what it's like to be obsessed with what your baby eats/when they sleep/how they po/what they wear/what they do etc etc. Before she did listen but you can see they don't really understand can't you......

I did the most creative thing today I really am most impressed with myself. have been looking for ages for a place mat for H to use at our relatively new dining room table rather than the adult wicker type ones that let all his spills seep through. So I thought sod it I'll make one, so this morning we drew all his fave foods on a big A3 size piece of foolscap and then I took it into town to be laminated and even if I say so myself it totally rocks!! I may even take a picture of it to show you!!

Right, having decided not to drink or smoke this week at all, Dh has just hadned me an enormous G&T and told me he has one fag left if I want to share it in the garden (only smoke about 4 a month) so off I go.

Hey all. Back at work now
I dont want to be there. I want to play with toys all day. I thought I wanted intellectual stimulation, but I dont. I want to blow raspberries and talk in silly voices and sing and clap hands. I do not want to to run rehabiliation groups, I do not want to try to re-teach offenders to behave, I do not want read the 2000 emails I have in my inbox, or read the training manuals.
i want to play with toys

Really tho, its ok. LO was with DP yesterday. HA! I asked him why the washing up was not done, or the washing hung up, asked where my dinner was!!!! Only kidding with him of course, he enjoyed it but found it hard work as she needs such intense attention now.
BF twice a day, he brought her in to me, and we sat by the sea (near where I work) in the sunshine and I fed her yesterday, today I had to go to nursery to feed her, but meant a nice walk in the sun to it at least
She was great at nursery today apparantly, she did not eat lunch, but ate tea of finger foods. Typical DD, likes to assert her independence!

She was pleased to see me tho, and it was loverly to get cuddles from her, she is becoming more affectionate nowadays too. I have taken to going to to see her at 10pm or so now I know she mostly sleeps soundly then, just to look at her

PavlovtheCat · 11/04/2007 21:40

I havent looked through thread recently, but has Algach been in touch with anyone about her wedding? I hope it went well...

Beadmum · 12/04/2007 10:13

prettymum - congrats for your sister an to junior on his 3rd tooth

algach - congrats!! glad your big day went well, cant wait to see your pics

bloss - what a great idea for placemat, you'll have to post a pic, sounds great

pavlov - for you being back at work, is it only part-time?

ceebee - hope work is better soon, must be awful when you dont even want to be there

Not much happening here, dh and i painted kitchen 2 nights ago but hated the colour so painted it with undercoat last night and have to start all over again. just want it to be finished and house back to normal, get there eventually.

was v.annoyed on tues, went up to docs surgery to baby clinic to get charlotte weighed and there was a notice saying it now only runs on a thur, you would think my hv would have told me

have a good day everyone, looks lovely again xx

PavlovtheCat · 12/04/2007 12:09

Beadmum - alas atm not pt, full time until my flexible working request has been looked into. Even then full time but over three days...
However for next four weeks phased return, this week two days, then three, then four etc.
It will be ok I am sure. Eventually, I think I will come to appreciate adult time, but for now

ImpyChica · 12/04/2007 15:22

Congratulations Mrs Algach!!! Can't wait to see the pix. Did you cry???

Beadmum - sympathy vibes on getting-the-house-straight. Our kitchen is now fitted but we won't get our oven connected to the gas until next week - scream!

Good luck with work Pavlov. BF-ing by the sea sounds lovely!! You gotta watch those pesky gulls though

God Bloss don't! My DP would totally not have me back either!! He's the best cook and does most of the cleaning too. For a long time I was able to sit back with the post c-section, new baby excuse - but that's hardly valid anymore! Going to have to pull my finger out.... Good luck with the no smoking/drinking week.

Poor CeeBee - {{{{{hugs}}}}}}. Hope work improves. Are you looking for something else?

Prettymum - exciting news about your sister! Know what you mean about Junior not wanting to nap - Ryan often goes through similar stages and will only sleep half an hour throughout the whole day - then the next day will have a four hour siesta!

Beadmum - think we've got that ELC animal noise/shape thing - but it's gone through about 3 lots of batteries in a couple of months - so I haven't bothered replacing them. Rubbish! Thanks for the kitchen message! We will get there in the end..... Glad Charlotte's better and tooth no. 2 is through! I think Ryan is getting his top teeth - he's been feverish and moaney for a couple of days now, poor lamb. His top gum is all swollen and sore looking too...

HC - sorry about the expressing and Sophie pushing you away... she might be teething or something? You could keep trying....

F@F - I think your supply will be fine. This past week I've just been b-feeding at night and morning without a problem. The old norks seem to adapt pretty quickly to new routines... Emma sounds v clever btw!!!

Twinkle - good luck with the job review. Sounds so unfair. Glad Aidan is better. Ryan has another really bad cough - going to try and get to the docs this afternoon.

Good luck with the cc Kbaby. I gave up after two nights. Pathetic. But he has been a bit ill of late - so that's my excuse for going to him at 4am....

Great pic Koshka! Hope Jake gets better v soon.

Kamikayzed - Roshi looks adorable in her poncho! Know what you mean about poppers on clothes - they do my head in! I always do them up wrong too...!

Hi Jersey - we haven't 'met' either. Congrats on your pregnancy! V impressed with how you're coping with two LOs already!

SleepWeak - shame about the shoes! Haven't really bothered with shoes for Ry - he tends to just chew on the laces if I do put any one him....

Us - sorry about your bad Easter. Hope things have improved with your DP.

Ryan's coughing loads, so going to have to go. Sorry if I've missed anyone's post/or picture - all the photos have been gorgeous!! (Easter bonnets - fantastic btw Bloss!!)

Hugs to all, Impy x

IamBlossom · 12/04/2007 20:01

Well all I can say is if you haven't been to Wellington Country Park and you live anywhere near Reading/Basingstoke/South East of UK, and you have a child between 15 months to 10 years, get yourself there! Had the most FANTASTIC day there today! It's only 6 quid per adult, kids go free, clean, beautiful, about 5 different adventure playgrounds, giant sandpits, inflatables, slides, tractors, trains, the lot. Harry thought he had died and gone to heaven!!

Sorry to bore, but here's a couple more shots, one of this afternoon and one of the other day

Never bother with Toby and shoes, he consistently pulls his socks off so shoes too would do my head in...

Where's Us? How are things hon?

How's your head KZ?

Evening ladies

Have been trying to express milk all night and didn't even get a teaspoon out. Have posted on the feeding thread but suspect my time of BF has come to an end.

Bloss-more superb pics. Hoping to get some on tomorrow if I get a min. Too busy in the garden doing pots ready for the Christening in May. Didn't know you smoked-must be difficult to give up.

There are too many messages to reply to but prettymum-congrats to your sister. Hope all works out OK.

Don't know who said about batteries in toys but rechargeables are deffo the way forward. Saves a fortune.

Big virtual hugs to those not liking work. ((xx))

I know my Manager has phoned today while I was out but she didn't leave a message and didn't call back so will be stressing about her ringing tomorrow. Will be at the dentist then meeting DH at lunch to look for kitchen worktop and flooring. DH has finally allowed my dad to tile the kitchen-yay! Am going to paint the walls again and get rid of the green theme-shame the cooker is green.

Had better go and check if anyone has responded to my question and feel shattered so I'll be back tomorrow.

Have a good evening all.

Oh kami-forgot to mention your migraine. I have discovered Solphadeine Migraine tablets and they work better than any others I have tried. I have prescription tablets from the Dr every month and take Solpadeine with them. As my mum and I would say-we would drink poison if it would help take the pain away. Mine has finally gone today after 4 days so my AF is imminent. You are the only one to reply to my question-thank you.

xx

HumphreysCorner · 12/04/2007 22:14

Doh-jelly bain. Poor Roshi-Sophie has sicked alot today. Even sicked all over the carpet in the mini theatre we went to today to see Pinocchio (whoops). What a difficult decision you all have in front of you. Better with a clear head though.

usandnosleep · 13/04/2007 06:51

Morning ladies

Thank you for asking after me and your kind words, I'm ok, it's shaken us up a bit and things aren't 'normal' but we're trying to sort things out.

Made myself a cup of tea and sat at laptop and Zack has just woken better go be back later x

FirstAtForty · 13/04/2007 08:59

Morning girls

Us - good to hear from you, have been thinking about you and hoping you are okay. Hope you can sort things out soon. xx

HC - sympathies re the expressing, it?s so frustrating isn?t it? I think the problem is often more to do with let down rather than there not being any milk, it?s in there, just won?t come out . I can sit there for ages with the pump on and literally nothing comes out. Then if I bf it works. I?ve got quite a slow let down even when bf though, I?m having problems at the mo because unless she?s really relaxed or very hungry she just won?t suckle for long enough to produce the let down, she gets frustrated and screams and writhes. So timing is becoming more important, she?s fine first thing and the morning (probably more hungry) and when I do the dream feed at about 11pm (sleepy so more relaxed). I guess I?ll have to aim to feed her when she?s hungry rather than after food during the day, and try and make sure she is relaxed and not too distracted. Challenging though.

She?s definitely having less milk now, I?d guess something like 12-15 oz a day. She also has a small bottle of rice milk just as a drink, and water from the spouted cup.

Kayzed - hugs re the migraine and hope you and Roshi are feeling better soon xx Would she take Calpol dissolved in milk? I add a dash of Gripe Water to the Calpol in water, seems to make it more palatable for her as she loves Gripe Water. Doesn?t sound like you would be happy with the substation

Bloss - sounds like a fab day and what lovely pics, the one of them hugging each other is just gorgeous.

Hi Impy, hope Ryan?s cough gets better soon, it?s horrible hearing them isn?t it.

Pavlov - hugs re work, it should get easier with time, I found it was a huge adjustment emotionally but a lot better once we had sorted some routines out and she had settled into nursery.

Agalch - hurrah, so glad you had a perfect day!

Ceebee - re work, do you find it?s quite up and down or bad all the time?

Pretty - congrats to your sister

Beadmum - congrats on Charlotte?s tooth no. 2!

Kbaby how?s the cc going?

Not too much to report here, Emma?s being Miss Moodswing again with big tantrums interspersed with happy waving She screams every time she is laid on her back to have her nappy changed, grrrr. Have taken to telling her ?no? and frowning at her when I know she is just being silly and she just gives me this LOOK.. she is going to be strong willed I think. Not really all that independent though, likes being fed (though she does eat rice cakes on her own) and although she is perfectly capable of holding her bottle up by herself she much prefers to have someone do it for her! Still not really interested in crawling or moving around, does like to be sat up on someone?s knee like lady muck though!

Have good days everyone xxx

SleepIsForTheWeak · 13/04/2007 09:20

I give S Calpol from a syringe, just pop it between the lips and quirt it in.
Although as KZ know, my Calpol giving is perhaps too zealous! (I gave him a double dose last night by mistake and had to phone NHS direct in a panic - all OK tho)

Thought I would share this with you girls, a suggested (flexible) routine from the "Baby book: how to enjoy year one" book for 9 - 12 months:

8-9am breakfast time: cereal etc and a drink of milk from a cup

playtime

10-10:30 mid morning snack (rice cake, fruit etc) drink of milk or juice from a cup

10:30 - 11 morning sleep probably 2 - 3 hours

12:30 - 1:30 lunch time: good meal with main course and desert. drink of water or juice from cup

playtime or walk

4:30 - 5:30 teatime: substantial meal or plenty finger food
give baby good drink of milki from cup if not giving a breast or bottle feed at 6 - 6:30

5:30 -6
bathtime

7 - 7:30
winding down before bed
your baby will probably sleep through to breakfast.

Well! I am not quite there yet - have been giving him much more milk from bottle feeds, and BF too. ALso wakes at least twice a night. SO I am going to try this routine and see how it goes.

Have an interview next week for what sounds like the perfect job for my circumstances! Nervous, need to get an interview outfit together erk!

Have good weekends
x

usandnosleep · 13/04/2007 10:57

I just lost a really long post, I'd replied to all of you and it had taken me AGES!

First- in my post I had asked if any other babies were becoming very stroppy and strong-willed! I'm very relieved that it's not just Zack!
Nappy changes, getting dressed, mealtimes, phonecalls etc etc are a complete nightmare. I'm fearing toddlerhood more and more...........

New party tricks here include giving kisses, waving and pretending to use the phone although the phone tends to go on the shoulder rather than to the ear!
Zack has also started walking using the furniture to hold on to, he uses this new skill particularly to get to something he shouldn't.

Ds is finally wearing a couple of bits of 6-9 month clothing-yay!

latest pics

usandnosleep · 13/04/2007 10:58

The nudie pic will be deleted tonight!

HumphreysCorner · 13/04/2007 11:32

Morning ladies

kayzed-how is your head today?

us-do hope you get things sorted together. Pleased you managed to post those pics. Isn't Zack grown up?

Have finally put the pic on that I took on Wednesday of my girl in her new 6-9 month HumphreysCorner outfit. Bought it in January and it finally fits-hurrah! here She looks an angel, shame she is a devil while feeding.

I have put on the feeding thread that in 9 months I have only had that let down feeling about 10 times. I'm just slow!

Have been to the dentist for a 10 minute lecture on gum disease. Have sore teeth but still need to have my crispbreads so back later. Got to meet DH to drag him round worktop places in his lunch hour.

HC and Us - SUCH gorgeous children!

I must get a holiday snap to show you all too

PavlovtheCat · 13/04/2007 13:15

Sleep is for the weak - I have been having lots of trouble with day time napping, sleeping through nights, etc, however the routine you mention seems to have set in, last week, just less than...its amazing, here it is...

8:00am - 8:30am breakfast, water from cup.
9:00am - 10:30am (11am), get dressed and play, play, play
10:30-11am - sleep. (still asleep now recently its been for 1-2hours, used to be half hour.
12:30-1:30pm, lunch. (later today as still asleep!
2:00pm - 3:00pm play some more (oh to be a baby!
3:00pm - BF. Used to sleep but not any more.
4:30pm. Tea.
6:30-7pm Snack, wind down for bed
7:30pm Sleep - right through!!!
