pg - give nurofen and calpol together - that's what we had to do (dd 40.3 yest and 39.8 today), and it reduced it considerably within about 20 mins.

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 21:56

I have this feeling that no-one will be arsed to go to Tussauds once we've done the eye, all the hassle of getting there with buggies etc Or is that just me being lazy again?!
Trust me Flame, even at half price, its not worth it! I might give you the card to take and post back, then abandon you all in favour of a look round Hamleys The older kids might like Tussauds, but there's nothing for babies, its a mare to get to changing places, it'll be packed like sardines, literally. I'm not sellling this much, am i?!

Are we taking butties or what? Am just thinking that if the weather is bad. we'll need somewhere to go inand eat anyway, and have a wee! Am am thinknig I'm too lazy to carry so much stuff around!

CanSleepWontStarve · 11/02/2007 21:59

mrm - agree re Tussauds - think it will be a lot to fit in in one day.

Both boys please.

Don't mind re packed lunch, as long as I know in advance! Think Jelley was planning on taking stuff. Is there anywhere decent to eat nearby if we did decide to do you know?

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 11/02/2007 22:00

I'm liking the sound of hamleys - was thinking everyone else wanted tussauds.. sounds like hell to me in half term!!!

MRM - both boys

PhoenixGirl · 11/02/2007 22:01

No nurofen in csws and he had calpol just before bed so he can have some more soon (last dose about 6)

mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 22:04

Well, there's good old macdonalds 20 secs away. Shit food, but you can trash it and leave the mess, and you know there'll be a nappy change and loo for the kids And you can do a nice mix of buying and picknicking in there!!

I'll have a think about other places. Alot of grass for a picnic if it is nice weather.

Be warned, the loos in Westminster tube are 20p a go

mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 22:05

Maybe csws should do packedlunch for us all, as she has less kids to lug around

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2007 22:07

Oi! Not if I go with the sling method - then she'll have to lug my cr*p round too let alone your lunch

CanSleepWontStarve · 11/02/2007 22:09

ROFL.

I shall be bringing B just as much as flame will. She likes 'the other lady'.

hi everyone, long time no speak.

Just wanted to let you know that we had a call from Gt Ormond St last Monday, asking us if we could go in on Friday, so it was all very sudden, but DD had her hip operation on Friday afternoon. it all went as well as we could possibly have hoped, she had the "closed" operation so they didn't have to cut her open, and she was discharged on Saturday evening. I've put a photo in my photo gallery of her in her cast - I chose purple, much to DP's disgust!! I hope you can all see the photo.

I'm sorry I've been rubbish at keeping in touch - I haven't read this thread yet so I hope you are all well, and I hope to catch up soon.

mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 22:14

Dont worry, ds1 isnt that bothered about you, he just asks about Kipper

Am thinking of ways to travel light; the only thing I could cut out would be ds1's spare trousers.Might be a false move Last time I did that, I had to spend £10 on new stuff after chronic runs in an indian jewellery dhop and then a wee in New Look in the middle of a clothes rail

mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 22:15

Hi Amiable ,crossed posts. Wow! That was no time at all to wait! How does she feel about her cast?

Jelley · 11/02/2007 22:16

That's still two adults to 3 children though. That leaves mrm and me with 4 (or 5 )

I definitely agree re Tussauds. I've only ever done one thing on trips into town.(Usually we go to the NHM, eat, see the dinosaurs, and go home, and the whole day is gone)

I'd rather have a relaxed day than rush and stress.

I don't mind buying cheap food (is there anywhere apart from Mac d? - I will do it if I have to but don't like it, except for the clean toilet aspect)

CanSleepWontStarve · 11/02/2007 22:17

Yes can see the pic Amiable. So her hips/legs are actually fixed in that position? How long for? Glad to hear that it went well, and purple is a cool colour!

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 11/02/2007 22:17

So pleased it went well amiable I like the purple - you DH has no style

Jelley · 11/02/2007 22:18

Also cross posted.

Love the cast Amiable, and it doesn't look too big.

It must be a huge relief to have a successful outcome so quickly

Flamesparrow · 11/02/2007 22:21

DH told me to bring "the good nappies" to make sales!

Amiable · 11/02/2007 22:25

I think they had a cancellation at the hospital - we had been told to expect an appointment for end of Feb/March sometime.

Assuming everything heals as it should she will be wearing the cast for 3 months, followed by 6 weeks in a brace which holds her in the same position, but she only has to wear for 23 hours a day! we have been warned that if the joint pops out of position again she will have to have the open op, but we're crossing everything that doesn't happen.

The cast is actually loads better than I had been expecting ? we had been warned it would probably be down to her ankle on the left hand side, but the consultant decided that wasn?t necessary, so she will have more mobility/flexibility the way it is. She?s loads heavier than before, so my arm muscles will be huge at the end of 3 months!

mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 22:33

My Mum had a full leg cast in purple when I graduated, chose the colour in my honour

Jas, I guess there's always a pizza hut somewhere. Or we could jump on a tube/bus somewhere else. Ds1 would love the Rainforest cafe. but its a total rip off, very expensive Its all a bit far south for me to know well, but all I can think offhand is to head up to Leicester Square; lots of eaty things there. Or all those little places by Charing Cross, that little road down the side of the station. Or eat in Waterloo!!

Jelley · 11/02/2007 22:43

I'll just bring my cash card, and go along with whatever we decide on the day. (The dds love MacD. It's only me that objects to it)

I'd love to keep the card if I can.
Would it be mad to go on the Saturday?
Or could I be really cheeky and use it for an extra two people (mt=y mum and dad are visiting on Friday, and then it would be an easy day out for us all?

mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 22:53

Of course keep it. I know vaguely where to hunt you down I think there will be enough left on it for you all. Am hoping the machine at the eye works now, so I can tell you for def how many. Then try and use them all up for us!!

Er, am I missing the point or is MrFlame going to come along too? Thought it was just Flame staying with csws, byt then vaguely remeber a mention of him driving in snow, or was he just thinknig about flame doing it? Sorry I'm so crap.

Jas, I wont be eating much at MacHell, but I do have a free coffee due, from peeling the tokens off all the empty cups people left on their tables over the last few weeks

mustrunmore · 11/02/2007 22:54

My Mum is coming on Friday too Spooky. Because ds2 is having his 'open day' for his brthday on Sat!!

2boysmacca · 12/02/2007 07:48

You lot were busy last night.

Amiable, how she doing now? Love the purple cast!

Just thought I'd pop in whilst ds watches Bottle top Bill

For what it's worth, there is a great pizza place along Embankment. If you stay down near the river and walk away from Houses of Commons there is a pizza place and other little foody places. If you keep walking, about 10-15 mins you'll hit an even bigger Pizza Express which is so geared up for kids. Or you can head towards Victoria by walking around Parliament Square towards Westminster Abbey, but to be honest you'll be hitting lunch hour with the workers as well as the half termers. I reckon you'll be best to keep down on the river. If the weather is nice, there is a little 'green, just behind the Eye. had many a picnic there and lots of space for the little ones to run around. Have fun
