DH ust phoned to say he's got the matress - hurrah!

And he's getting takeawy on the way back double hurray - no cooking!

LowFatMilkshake · 24/02/2007 17:35

John Lewis still not phoned ...Boo!

Gloria42 · 24/02/2007 19:29

MEGA poo arrived this afternoon, seems to mainly happen when kicking on mat with no nappy on. must be most relaxed this way. Thanks all for reasurance DS is normal, mum needs to relax it seems!

will keep prune info for future reference!

Olihan · 24/02/2007 20:13

Gloria, I've spent a LOT of time reading the bf threads and after the first 4 - 6 weeks not pooing everyday is completely normal in bf babies. Apparently they can go anywhere up to 15 days without it beig a cause for concern, if not more. BM is such a perfect food that there's very little waste. The other tip I read is to hold their ankles as if you're changng their nappy then push their feet up so they are infront of their face, so they're almost folded in half. Hold a nappy under the business end, wait for 5 minutes or so and voila! Haven't tried it myself but might b worth a try if you're worried.

Eli, dd was the same with bottles. She was too lazy to suck from me but I couldn't get the expressing going well enough to give ebm.

Drat, ds2 muttering through the monitor, got to go...

Runninglate · 24/02/2007 20:18

Any ideas anyone.....if I express in the morning, i get about 120mls total. If it's later in the day, all I can get in one go is about 40mls at a push. Am I doing something wrong????

DD is on her 3rd night of going to bed at 7pm and staying there. I am SO chuffed! She sleeps until 11pm when I wake her to change and top up feed and then she feeds every 3 hours all through the night . She's 9.5 weeks now..... I'm hoping the 3hr feeds are just because her bed time has shifted and she's still adjusting!?!?!

Runninglate · 24/02/2007 20:26

Also - another question - when can I start sitting my DD up in her buggy instead of being flat?? It seems to be a bit all or nothing with the buggy I have - well it's flat, 45-50 (not a gentle slope!) degrees or 80 degrees

OonaghBhuna · 24/02/2007 20:57

Runninglate - I only ever express in the morning apparently the best milk is in the morning. I am the same if I leave it to the afternoon I never get enough milk. I go to a BF support group and this seems to be the norm with most mothers.
The four of us went for a lovely walk to the beach today using our new double buggy which is fab! However DD1 is now unwell and has a temperature poor thing. She is snuggled up under her duvet.

LowFatMilkshake · 24/02/2007 22:50

RL - not that breast feeding or expressing worked for me, but I was continualy told - express in the morning you get more milk....
However if you missed it in earlier posts my boobs are ornamental and I only managed a total of 3oz (over 3 weeks)

OB hope DD feels better soon.

My DD played up with her dinner and we both got really cross with her, to the point where we even threw away thecontents of her haribo tub - which she has about 10 sweets from after dinner if she eats well. Imagine our guilt when she fell asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow. Poor mite was too tired to eat.

However from tomorrow all meals willgo back tobeing served at the table, and I am going to FLY with a room a day!

satinshoes · 25/02/2007 10:17

hi everyone.

feeding seems to have slowed down again

bad dat though as cat has hurt his leg and we have to take him to vets in a bit. i'm worried he may have broken it.

rl - 3 months at an angle and 6 months upright in buggy i think.

milkshake - i FLY only way i can keep on top of things..

weirdbird · 25/02/2007 14:19

me three, though my routines are out fo the window at the moment and the emails arn't being read, but we do the zone of that week every Sat and I am glad I had gotten myself into better habits before DD2 arrived cause we never would have coped otherwise!

SachaF · 25/02/2007 14:29

RL - my buggy says only from 6 months up and it goes fairly flat, i am thinking of using pram attachment till 4 months and then try it - but mine has no head hugger. Flat until they can hold their head well to stop it flopping sideways or forwards i believe.
Expressing - as your body hass rested and recovered over night (i know, it's never enough sleep!) it produces more in the morning - same works on less busy days i've found i can express more. however i'm expressing now as i want to go to bed as we went out last night
Gloria, i keep giving mine nappy off kick about time to help ease his windy bottom, it would make total sense to me that this would also help yours poo. Does the fact that mine is still pooing about 3x a day make him unusual for bf babies? (9 weeks). It would be nice to have less poo (might help him at night as he might be less windy?)
LFM, suprised by John Lewis, they were really quick to change things when i noticed the shop assistant had put the wrong colour cot on our order form - hadn't checked when in shop as only one on display and nothing obvious saying it also came in white. However they did leave everything out by the back door and no slip through the front door even though I was in all day - only realised as it was a nappy wash day and was using the washing line - then struggled to get it into the house!

accessorizewithbabysick · 25/02/2007 14:31

am trying to fly, but there just don't seem enough hours in the day
Spina, have you seen the nappy kits on makesachange.co.uk for fluffles (15 nappies, 4 wraps) - Indith uses fluffles & I've just bought some can't wait for them to arrive! They're about to do kits for wambamboos, which are also fab - they do 10% discount for mumsnetters.
Indith, glad you tried that bf'ing position, my ds gurgles the entire time, he loves looking at me I think. And obviously your ds likes looking at your mum too!

accessorizewithbabysick · 25/02/2007 14:35

I'm dreading moving ds2 out of his pram, won't be able to look at him anymore. Makes me want my bugaboo back in some ways (swapped it last year for a mountain buggy). Well as it's still in the garage, I guess I could haul it out again instead of selling on ebay as I promised dp! You can tell I'm a pushchair addict (mb no.5!).

magnolia1 · 25/02/2007 14:43

Blimey my ds1 is still pooing every other nappy

Cranial osteopath was a bizzare experience but going back next week as the osteopath 'only managed to open up the probelms slightly'

We are using the nevatta carry cot on the pushchair frame and I will probably use this till ds1 is pulling himself up in it I like to get my moneys worth

B/F not going to well, ds1 only feeding well from one side and making other side sore going back to see the counseller tomorrow.

satinshoes · 25/02/2007 15:55

my DD poos every other nappy and then some. normally afew mins after i start to feed her. dd1 was the same.

Elibean · 25/02/2007 17:28

Interesting fact re expressing. I've been doing it about 4 x daily since dd was in hospital (managed to get down to 3x at one point, but then she caught a cold and had to go back to drinking upright most of the time) and since her 12 week growth spurt have had to add one small feed of formula per day to make up the required amount. Or pump at night, which I refuse to do anymore.

But just got back from 24 hours at my mother's in Oxford, and after two large roast meals and far too much cheese, chocolate, and general feeding up (Mum not so good with kids, brilliant with food ) I have been producing 200mls+ easily at each go. No formula for dd tonight.

Had no more rest than usual, just a lot more food - what a great excuse to pig out: now considering expressing for Britain until oh, at least 18 months

Elibean · 25/02/2007 17:29

Poo: at least twice a day, sometimes still four times and she's 13 weeks old

Still waiting for poo to slow down to start reusables

Elibean · 25/02/2007 17:30

BTW, for those of you with wings - what exactly is FLYing again? I do remember it being explained on the antenatal thread, but was far too lazy and pregnant to pay any attention. Now wondering if I should have, as it seems to be something to do with being more organized and housewifely, which I sorely need to be...

SachaF · 25/02/2007 17:57

But the poo washes out!
Just tried a wash at 40 as was suggested on AQ's thread and they seem as clean as normal (use ecover so no bleaching agent), maybe slightly whiter and it's just the prior stains as haven't been able to line dry for a while.
Elibean, my HV suggested eating between every feed - sometimes feel like eating at 4 in the morning but not got round to it , maybe she meant between every daytime feed.

Runninglate · 25/02/2007 19:53

Oh I DO love the sound of having to eat more . My main concern actually, is being able to express enough for one meal to send off with my DD to the childminder (in the next month or so). As it stands - I can't produce a full meal. Should I be expecting to express in the evening and then top it up the next morning as it were? Any other ideas??

LowFatMilkshake · 25/02/2007 20:22

Hi All, Had to ring JL this moring to remind them about us, but they agreed to a refund so DH took it back today and we're all square. Never got to put DS in his cot last night as time ran away woth us, so tonights the night! Monitor, humidifier etc all set up and he's had a nap in it earlier this evening so it looks like it should be good to go. Sadly the Tomy star DD haad no longer goes round so there is a static teddy projected on to the ceiling for 10 minutes with a lulabye. Gonna have a look on e-bay for a new one - or in our little second hand shop. have to admit I am a little sad to be loosing my bed buddy and - not that i dont like sleeping with DH in the same bed - but I was getting used to all the space I had

Eli - Flying is tidying up your house systematicaly with FLY lady - she has a website, but admit to being too lazy to link it just now.

LowFatMilkshake · 26/02/2007 09:27

Where is everyone??? Have we started a new thread? Am I being sent to Coventry??

babypowder · 26/02/2007 10:00

LFM, I'm here!!

SO much on this thread to catch up on - I promise I will go back and read everyone's entries, but I hope you're all doing well

I've just been so incredibly busy, but doing nothing interesting. Between the ILs visiting 2 weeks ago, and then DH being away this weekend, I've hardly had time to think. Thankfully, some friends to DD1 to see Charlotte's Web yesterday, so I had a whole 3 hours to spend concentrating on the house and DD2. I'm knackered

DH is away again this weekend - he has a season ticket for Watford FC, which would be OK if we didn't live in Northeast Scotland!

LowFatMilkshake · 26/02/2007 10:09

BP - Is your DH from Watford originally - it;s just down the road from us!

But DH is a Liverpool fan, not that he gets to go much! About twice a year if he's lucky. He works Saurdays so making a match can be difficult, also unlike you I am not as generous in letting him out so much, wicked wife that I am .

satinshoes · 26/02/2007 11:08

morning. i'm here. a bit stressed as i was right yesterday and my cat has broken his leg. he has to have an operation today and we pick him up this evening.

DD1 back to preschool today

DD2 being very good

Hope you're all ok.
