Me here too.
V tired today as went to a party sat night then stayed in our camper van - was awake every hour checking temp, checking ds as our 1st time with him in van, then he woke me up every 2 hrs last night.
Hopefully a lunchtime nap is in order soon and i'll spend the hour napping rather than vacuuming, dusting etc as fly lsdy suggests!

SachaF · 26/02/2007 12:56

satin, hope all goes well for dcat, almost like it's happening to your own child as you are responsible for their welfare. let us know later after you've picked him up.

babypowder · 26/02/2007 13:08

LFM, DH is from Watford - his mum and dad are still there. Not that he stays with them when he goes down, preferring to stay with his mate in Bucks It costs us an absolute fortune for him to follow his team, but at least it means that I can limit the amount of footie on telly. I have promised myself that when the DDs are in their teens I'm going to jet off to Goa for a couple of weeks with a friend, leaving the kids in DHs capable hands as my reward for all the matches he's been to

babypowder · 26/02/2007 13:14

Sacha, really of your camper van. I really, really want one!

Satin, hope the cat is OK. It's so awful when anything happens to them.

margo1974 · 26/02/2007 14:00

i'm here too - well, I'm at my mums house as dh was working over the weekend and doing 10 hours shifts for the next 3 days. dd2 also has the flu - very snuffly. I got the saline drops, anyone got any best practice tips or anything else I can use for LO?

satinshoes · 26/02/2007 14:51

thanks everyone. called the vets and the operation went well but they have to keep him in overnight so we wont get to see him until tomorrow. calling back at 5 to see how he is.

Olihan · 26/02/2007 15:03

Glad the cat's ok satin! It's so awful when they're hurt, isn't it? Nearly as bad as the dcs.

Margo, until they're over 3 months there's not a lot you can really do that's very effective. All the good stuff is for 3 months plus! Try a wet towel over the radiator to humidify the air, prop the end of the cot up on a couple of phone books, and the saline drops to clear a bit of the gunk.

DS2 also has another cold. He was really stressy last evening, screamed inconsolably for 3 hours then finally conked out. Settled okay after the midnight feed but woke completely bunged up at 3am. Was too stuffy to feed lying down so had to do it sitting up. Took him until 5.55 to go back to sleep then ds1 and dd got up at 6. Typically dh was working away last night so I am unbelievably knackered today!

LowFatMilkshake · 26/02/2007 16:02

Phew - glad you;re all here!

Satin - glad to here cats on the mend! Do you have insurance? If not that' gonna be a mini fortune for you to spend.

Margo - echo what Oli said. The saline drops are great. You may also want to get some Olabs oil on a hanky and waft it around DD's nose. I know it say 3mnth plus, but I was desperate, and when I told my GP and the peeops from ENT both said it was fine used sparingly. Also effective with a ocuple of drops in a jug of hot water just before the feed. We actually bought a humidifyer for DS's room as we expecthim to get colds quite a lot with his floppy larynx. John Lewsi sells one for £30, and it does help. even helped me when it was on in our room - but makes DS's hands freezing.

DS will be 12 weeks a week tomorrow and then I can use medised should he get anohter cold, that stuff is brilliant. Touch wood he wont though

Indith · 26/02/2007 16:28

Poor puss Satin, hope he is well on the mend.

I'll scond Olbas oil, ds been stuffy, I've been putting a drop on a tissue and placing it in his cot.

ds weighed in at 11lb7oz today the greedy little piglet and has jumped up a centile in all measurements. I feel great today, he slept so well. As in he actually slept between his feeds and at one point went 2.5 hours instead of 2! Think he might be waking out of habit though now as he falls asleep at the breast after mins and is rally hard to wake enough to get going again. If he does it again tonight I'll just put him back down and see what happens, if he wakes 10min later he is probably hungry! If not I'll start sending dp in at the 2hour wake to sttle him and see if he gives up waking after a while. 3 hours would be nice!

He does give some damn good smiles though, makes up for everything doesn't it?

weirdbird · 26/02/2007 17:11

Well I am still having issues with DD2 not feeding properly and have resorted to feedig her every 2 hours to hopefully get it back to normal again (she was going every 3-4 for the last 3 weeks..) Its a bit of a shock to the system to be feeding so much again, but at least she isn't refusing to feed now! Cause that was very upset and angry and frustrated.

DH is going away for 3 days, I am dreading it, if DD2 was feeding well and as she was, I wouldnt be worried, but she is really winding me up and I need the break from her at the moment that having him here in the evening gives me... I could shoot his boss for making him do this.

Gah

Satin - Hope everythings ok with the cat, seconding the hope that you have insurance!

Right better go make dinner while she isnt screaming!

satinshoes · 26/02/2007 17:24

Cat update - He suffered a fractured pelvis and fracture to his femur. They arent worried about the pelvis as it was a small fracture but the leg was not so good. They had to remove the top part of the femur bone, and also the ball bit of the joint. So effectively he will have a shorter leg, but the vet was confident that he will recover well and regain use of the leg, although there may be some lameness it wont be because of pain. The vet also said the injuries were consistent with being hit by a car and not a fall as we originally thought.

And NO we dont have insurance

SachaF · 26/02/2007 17:48

Remind me to never expect to get a nap in myself - that always means his nap will go haywire! Ended up with me getting in the car in tears and driving round to a friends for a cup of tea (after taking out the earplugs I'd had in for the previous however long he was crying for because he was overtired - you see I'd coughted 20 minutes into his nap and that was that!)
All better now, of course he was awake the whole time in the car there and back - doesn't send him to sleep like it used to!

SachaF · 26/02/2007 17:50

Satin, my heart goes out to you, the idea that he has been hit by a car makes me shudder - I'm glad the vet thinks he will recover use and be pain free though, that is good news in a way.

saltire · 26/02/2007 18:40

Sorry to hijack this thread ladies, but i noticed margo1974 posted on it

Margo, I was looking for you on the Forces wives thread, if you get a minute can you pop over there and have a look? thanks

Hijack over

saltire · 26/02/2007 18:44

Actually completely forget that post It's a different name i'm looking for, sorry am having a bad time of it today!. Sorry

LowFatMilkshake · 26/02/2007 20:08

Hi All,

DH gave me a sleep again this afternoon as DS has decided that sleeping through the night is not really for him at the momnet.

Put him down last night in the cot at 10.30 and he slept till 3.30, fed and setled again in the cot. DD woke when daddy got up for work so she was in with me from 4am. Then DS woke and refused to settle so bought him back in our room in the moses basket where he slept till 7.30. Also where he used to give me 10 minutes grace before a fedd to change etc he now wake and screams from the off. Perhaps he is getting hungrier agin?? What to do - he is already on 7 oz 6 times a day

DH has had a funny turn this evening and is feeling really dizzy, He has a physical job which has him up at 4, then he gets home at 1 has breakfast, plays with the DC's helps me with the house has a 2 hours sleep and gets up for tea, then does more house or baths DD etc. But he started to feel dizzy tonight after tea so I have just been round the shop for a ton of sugary stuff including lucosade tablets and drink and mars and coke. Typical man, he sits there now saying he fels a bit better after just one mars - so I am bullying him to drink now as well have not just sent £10 on crap for him to eat 30p worth!!. What are my family doing to me - turning me grey - that's what! Bless them!

satinshoes · 27/02/2007 09:26

Morning all.

Bad night with DD2 feeding every 3 hrs again.

DD1 is not well.

Pick cat up later.

I remember sleeping in the afteroons with DD1. wish i could do that now!

Have a good day all.

Indith · 27/02/2007 09:38

every sodding hour! How many growth spurts can one baby have? And how come the little monkey can do almost 4 hours in the evening? All smiles now bless him.

satinshoes · 27/02/2007 09:50

ok Indith. I'll stop moaning about 3 hourly feeds at night , although DD has started feeding every 2 hours again during the day after managing every 3 hours last week.

Calmriver · 27/02/2007 10:26

My Ambi has her 2nd inj's today...

She sometimes goes 6 hours inbetween her night feeds..amazing!(although formula for night...they go longer normally!)

I got 10 hours sleep last night! WOW!!!

Runninglate · 27/02/2007 10:41

oooh calmriver - my DD is going for her first lot this afternoon - is it very making? My DH is away tonight too - is it going to be a nightmare for her to sleep? Are we all cruel mummies?

satinshoes · 27/02/2007 10:47

runninglate - my DD had her 1st jabs 3 weeks ago. she cried for a second before she had a cuddle when the jabs went in and then was fine all evening. the only time we had real tears was when we knocked the site on her legs that evening. it must have been pretty tender as she had a real pained cry.

DD1 was awful for a week but that's another story.

margo1974 · 27/02/2007 11:21

Wow -I felt important and needed by Saltire then (although dh isn't in the forces)

Now i'm not needed

weirdbird · 27/02/2007 12:05

I have to admit Hannah was due for her first jabs today, but as DH isnt back till late Thursday night and I will need to get DD1 up and ready for school in the mornings with no help I decided to postpone them till next week and there is someone else around.

I stand in awe of some of the people on here doing it on there own 24/7, I just couldnt do it.

Its my first major deadline with work coming up and am wondering how I am going to manage to fit in 35hours worth of work in the next week, but I managed it after DD1 was born so know its technically possible!

castlesintheair · 27/02/2007 13:14

WB, you would manage on your own all the time if you had to, you just do. Pleased you don't have to though

Well I fainted at the wheel of the effing car today, managed to pull over & park and fortunately it was just after the rush hour so it wasn't too busy. Anyway, regretfully, I have to now think about completely giving up breast feeding . I feel so traumatised by it - what if I'd crashed with my 2 girls in the back? My eyes are filling up. The GP (useless twassock - sorry to any out there) says these "spells" won't stop until I stop bf'ing.
