my dd1 was a nightmare with sleep but it settled down at 11 months thank goodness. I agree with the routine thing and definately the baths really helped. However dd2 is now 7 weeks and she is so unpredictable, luckily she loves a bath and she seems to settle after this. She hasnt been crying just as much over the last couple of nights which is good. she has collick so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is maybe settleing although I agree that 12 weeks seems to be the normal for settling.
Although I have been exhausted and overwhelmed with the masssive changes with having two little ones to look after dd2 has started to gurgle and smile which is just lovely!!!

Calmriver · 14/02/2007 19:09

Hi guys, I think they very much have us all wrapped. Ambi likes having me around her all the time! She watches me walk out the room and suddenly starts to grunt and make noises, calling me back. I'm glad to hear you have the same thing!

Do we have a list growing for this meetup in March?

I spoke too soon.

Dd2 screamed and screamed while I put dd1 to bed - her sense of timing is spot on

Runninglate · 14/02/2007 21:10

yup - that's the other 'new' thing. DD has sussed out who I am and objects loudly if I move out of eyesight. It's all very flattering 'n' all but.....

OonaghBhuna · 14/02/2007 21:18

Umm as long as I massage her toes and feet she stops crying OMG!!! And shes another one that wants cuddles and rocked all the time......

accessorizewithbabysick · 14/02/2007 21:27

Also, went to baby massage yesterday and he was so chilled out for the rest of the day I want to give him one every day!! Went & bought some oil so I can try it again tomorrow.
Just put him down at 9pm, earliest yet yay. Took an hour & a quarter of feeding though...and then I was sure he'd wake up again so I organised my socks & knickers drawers. Hmmm, so that's why i wanted my evenings back. I hope all your lo's sleep well tonight!

Indith · 15/02/2007 09:53

Seems ds has finally figured out that it is possible to have both breasts in one sitting! Got him down to just 2 feeds last night between 10 and 7.30! I feelsorested.

LowFatMilkshake · 15/02/2007 10:21

Hi All,

Just a quick one. We've been in hospital since Satuday, getting home last night. Dylan stopped breathing after a feed again on Saturday but this time went blue so we had an ambulance. Apparently he's had some sort of cold, then developed gastric flu in hospital.

Tummy is better now and we came home last night. We're working on geting his feeds back to normal - although without all the hospital noise he slept from 10-5 anyway.

Anyway as I said a quickie - will feed you in more later and catch up on posts. Hope ou are all well!

Oh, LFM (still think of you as Baileys) - what a fright for you. And to have your LO become ill in hospital - with something else - must be so upsetting.

Glad you're all home safe and sound.

Indith · 15/02/2007 10:38

Oh no! Horrible thing to happen. THey do like to keep people on their toes these little ones don't they! Glad you are all home safe.

margo1974 · 15/02/2007 10:51

How horrible - hope your nerves aren't too frayed Milkshake

Hope he gets better soon

Runninglate · 15/02/2007 11:22

OMG - you poor things LFM. I'm pleased you're back home. Home dreadful for you all. Big hugs x

castlesintheair · 15/02/2007 12:05

Calmriver, I'm free for March meet-up!

LFM, hope your LO is better soon. Roll on summer!

AQ, glad everything is going better for you now

We got a dx for DS on Tuesday so I feel like I've been through the washer this week. TG DD2 is such a dream ...

magnolia1 · 15/02/2007 13:23

Oh LFM, Hope you and lo are ok xxxx

Ds1 has been asleep since 10am!!!!!
I know I will pay for it later but we went out for breakfast at 10am and he fell asleep in the car, had brekkie and came home and he is still asleep!!!!

He was still 3 hourly last night though

I am up for a march meet

OonaghBhuna · 15/02/2007 14:17

LFM glad things are ok but it must have been very shocking for you.
DD2 seems to have a bit of a cold so I will keep a close eye on her.She woke at 6am and was quite distressed for a few hours. She is asleep now so was able to watch neighbours and have some coffee as dd1 is having her lunchtime nap.

castlesintheair · 15/02/2007 14:26

Magnolia, DD2 has a big kip in the morning - about 8.30am to 12.00 as I am usually out. Doesn't seem to affect her night-time behaviour (she's a good kipper then) so maybe it's a sign your DS is settling down a bit now.

weirdbird · 15/02/2007 18:57

AQ - So glad the doomoo has helped, was so pleased with mine, despite my initial reservations about the cost.

My comment about BF being the one thing going ok must have been stupidity on my behalf DD2 then stopped feeding again, luckily it was our 6 week check at the GP's yesterday and she agreed with me that DD2 really did need a higher dosage of Ranitidine with her 2.5lb weight gain since being prescribed and increased it, it "seems" to have done the trick, but I won't hold my breath just in case!

Eli - DD2 was doing this just screaming every time I offered her the left boob, its soul destroying I find and I am going to end up more lob sided than ever!

Everyone on here seems to have worries about not gaining weight and my hubby is worried about how much weight ours has put on!

She is over 13lbs at 6 weeks and is out of 0-3 clothes already, some of them still have the tags on!

CR - With DD2 not sleeping almost ever without being constantly walked/rocked/jigged all day, I am barely eating/drinking during the day let alone getting online and when it is the evening I have to try and do everything else.
Wish she would take a liking to the baby carrier but at present she screams when you try...

weirdbird · 15/02/2007 20:01

Indith, I've added you on MSN!

I'm dazmaniakathotmaildotcom if anyone wants to add me...

Gloria42 · 15/02/2007 21:37

Stupid question alert!!!

Is it possible for a car seat to damage DS "down below" IYSWIM? The bit that goes between his legs seems to squash his equipment.

PS LFM, sorry to hear about your hard time, hope you all feel better ASAP

LowFatMilkshake · 15/02/2007 22:29

Hi All,

Thanks for your good wishes. DH and I now have gastric flu - DD seems, but time will tell!

I hopefully am over the worst but DH has just gone to bed an asked for me to escort him in cased he passed out

DS is getting on, although he is now feeding just 3oz every 3 hours, as opposed to before 6 oz every 4 hours - so hes on half the feel. However we are hopefull it will improve. He's sleeping well which is probably the best thing for him - last night he went through, fingers crossed for tonight.

The hospital staff were amazing from ambulance crew to dpctors - but especially the nurses - how undervalued are they!!!

Anyway I have scanned previous posts so not quite ofey with all your news, but it;s nice to be in touch again.

I am on here till 11.15 when DS is due his feed.

Elibean · 15/02/2007 22:35

Eek, missed a lot again - life got busy (er), nothing bad really, just stuff. dd1's cold and cough seemed nasty for 48 hours then became just a sniffle and cough - and little dd2 has been a bit more congested and noisy, but not coughed at all and is feeding like a starved creature (is there another growth spurt at 12 weeks?!?).

LFM, sorry to hear your ds has been in hospital...that sounds really scary, did they say anything about the stopping breathing? And then gastric flu on top - poor lad, poor you! HOpe he's all better now and that life gets back to normal fast.

Castles, was ds's dx a positive thing, overall? Hope so - friends have been through that process and found it overwhelming at the time but quite helpful long term.

WB, I actually went to see the breast surgeon who checked me out years ago, today - with my sore right boob. He prodded it and said the extra soreness was hormonal (apparently ovaries kick in again around the 12-14 week mark, even if you don't get a period) but I am quite sure its dd mangling it in the way she does (fiercely, as if it pisses her off 'cos its not the left side) combined with over pumping . Either way, nothing nasty - which is the main thing

Elibean · 15/02/2007 22:41

x post.....get well soon, LFM and DH. Hope dd doesn't get it!

LowFatMilkshake · 15/02/2007 22:43

They think he stops breathng as he panics and he has a 'strider' when breathing out, meaning the airflow doesnt work as well, so with a cold and floopy larynx it all adds up - I think.

However the hospital gave us infant resucitation lessons so we know what to do if it happens again, also not to panic and just rub him to calms him.

And we are now under the ENT dept. to make sure the larynx doesnt become an issue.

But it was bl**dy scary to see him go blue and then when I had blown doen his nose see blood from his mouth - and I swear I will never forget the sound of panic in DH's voice - we both though we had lost him!

weirdbird · 15/02/2007 23:26

LFM - My prayers are with you (unless youd rather I didn't!) it sounds incredibly scary.

jabberwocky · 16/02/2007 00:13

OMG Bailey's! What a frightening time for you. And now to be sick on top of all that Here's hoping that your ds's floppy larynx improves quickly. I think ds1's went away somewhere around 3 months.

Still lop-sided here, too btw. He's feeding much better on that side but maybe it's a done deal size-wise by now...

We had to take ds1 in to the oc today. One of his little playmates got dx'd w/ scabies and he came down w/ a suspicious rash. It turned out to NOT be scabies after all, tho. whew! I was mainly concerned ds2 would catch it as the treatment seems rather toxic for an infant.
