Hopefully this works...

So we can keep in touch and pass on words of wisdom!

Perhaps someone clever could link to the stats?

Thanks sock that is really helpful. Dd finally slept and had 5 hours between feeds when she woke she had 6oz instead of usual 5 and finished it off so maybe I will try increasing other feeds x

Had an awful 24 hours could barely settle DD and don't know why. She fought sleep to the bitter end and nodded off several times only to wake after a few minutes then pretty much grizzled until she would nod off again and do the same. Exhausted! Took her out in pram and in car and neither got her to sleep. Have no idea why she wouldn't settle! She did it last week as well but went on much longer this time including through the night. Finally got her to sleep on my husband and he lay there with her for three hours. Hmm

primarynoodle · 11/08/2016 04:56

Ouch dolly, hope your sleeping now!

One more bottle q - we have the tt closer to nature ones but from the Aldo baby event so the big bottles - do I need to buy new teats?vsimething about flow..? Gahhh I'd only just got my head around the baby stuff I CAN do... So much to learn!

cookies is dp not pulling his weight because he can't (E.g. You're ebf?) or won't?! Sounds like an awful lot of extra pressure on you Sad. My dp obviously hasn't fed A yet but is desperate to wind/change nappies etc,... Although does occasionally take advantage of the lesser responsibility to sleep all night/have a leisurely time with his Efag etc Hmm

Errr quick question - anyone else ever had their baby's voice go really hoarse? Ruben's suddenly did late last night. I've tried to think back and I don't think it correlates with a period of him crying as it happened after he'd had two enormous feeds followed by a two hour sleep. He seems fine other than that though so I can't imagine what it would be other than vocal cord strain from crying. His little raspy squeaks as he feeds are breaking my heart :(

I really need to buy a baby thermometer. Will get one tomorrow.

socktastic · 11/08/2016 06:39

primary the aldi ones have number 1 teats - even though they're the larger bottle so just stick with them. Just make sure the valve can open ok at every wash.

Feeling so much better today. Just had 9pm-2am then 3am-6.30! Granted for the past hour or so I've had straining grunting baby - I went to prepare his bottle and he's fallen back asleep!

socktastic · 11/08/2016 06:43

Love the gummy smiles but they disappear way too quickly! Almost managed to capture this one!!

Primary yes from 7pm last night she has settled and got a good sleep but soo tired from the night before. Have no idea what it was!

Can only speak for the Mam bottles (which I can recommend but it does take practice to get the hang of putting them together) but they have 3 flow teat sizes. Size 1 newborn, size2 from 2 months and size 3 from 4 months. That doesn't mean you have to change on the day. I gave DD1 a size 2 teat at 2 months and she choked on it as the flow was too fast so I went back to size 2 for a few weeks x as they get bigger they can take more fluid and want it more quickly which is why there are different sizes x

Rubytuesday2980 · 11/08/2016 08:27

Morning bluebell - yes, I've had a slightly raspy baby since the weekend. His little nose is a bit snotty, so I think it's that as he isn't unhappy in any way. Haven't yet worked out how to de-snot a baby, caught myself yesterday thinking, 'I wish I could pick his nose'... Quite disgusted with myself.

Also do not have thermometer, bad mother.

Cookiesandcoffee · 11/08/2016 08:39

bluebell I have no idea sorry

primary I am ebf and he is taking expressed milk now but I've been doing it. he's sleeping downstairs with his phone off ( it's. 2 floors away) I got to a tiredness state at 6.15 and gave him to him, but he had to leave for work at 7. Terrible night im not sure coffee can save me!

Bottles usually come with the first teets in my experience - are they numbered or coded on them?

Rubytuesday2980 · 11/08/2016 09:14

Please can someone give me a virtual kick up the backside?

Yesterday: domestic goddess mother of hoovering and washing and first attempt at sling.

Today: Under a blanket watching crap tv and instagramming baby photos.

AnnaT45 · 11/08/2016 09:22

No ruby I won't kick you up the backside! Stay there and enjoy it. You should be resting, you're on maternity leave not cleaning leave! My cleaner is here so I'm sat in bed feeding contemplating toast or cereal?

blue start on test size 1 as BF baby are used to working hard to get the milk. The higher the number the faster the flow which may be too much for baby at first. Hope that helps.

Grace pretty much feed from 3.30 yesterday afternoon to 2 a.m. Cluster feeding is the pits and I hope it's not repeated today!!!

Rubytuesday2980 · 11/08/2016 09:24

sock he's such a cutie, well done on the sleeping!

cookies get the caffeine AND sugar out today, you deserve all the treats. Are you ok with that distant sleeping situation?! Clearly you are a lot more patient than me.

dolly that's really useful bottle info, I have Mam ones for when we move on from the Medela teat - not sure when I should try this?

primary coming to the realisation that the learning how to be a parent will never end, our poor tired brains.

Rubytuesday2980 · 11/08/2016 09:27

anna bless you, if you insist Smile
Grace is gorgeous, you clever lady. Where is the pink babygro from, I love it and need to get it for the next girl baby that I meet!

Flossiesmummy · 11/08/2016 10:18

Not much to report here. Only this exchange between DH and myself Hmm

DH: she's slept so well tonight, hasn't she?
Me: no, what you mean is you've slept well.

I'd been up God knows how many times feeding and changing her and shushing and rocking her. DH then proceeded to ask "has she been awake then?"

ALL THE RAGE Angry

AnnaT45 · 11/08/2016 10:46

flossie they are so bloody annoying! If it makes you feel better I think a lot of men are like this! DH is in spare room as he's awful on no sleep. He does get up early with DD1 but loves to moan how tired he is Hmm its prob a good thing he can sleep through it though?

ruby it's a DD1 hand me down from Petit bateau. So pretty isn't it? I'm thrilled I get to reuse so many of these lovely clothes! It's also stopped me buying anything which is good. Although I'm going to be a loser and get a few matching pieces for the girls! Enjoy relaxing till your visitor comes!

tams13 · 11/08/2016 11:13

Oh dear. Sounds like some bad nights. Fingers crossed for better luck today. I've got the opposite. Dh keeps getting up with dd and telling me to sleep because I'm tired. The problem is that he's back in work now and knackered himself! I realise that I'm lucky he's getting up though.

Is anyone using a baby carrier yet? Any recommendations? I'm too worried that I won't do them up properly or they'll slip if I use a stretchy or ring sling so was looking at full buckle jobs. I think I like the look of Baby Bjorn One, Ergo 360 or JPMBB Physiocarrier. I was hoping someone here might have tried some of them.

socktastic · 11/08/2016 11:24

tams we got our carrier from mothercare - it's their own branded one and it's quite good I think. I haven't used it yet as I'm still a bit scared but dh has and he enjoys it.

flossie I would smack him round the head with a dirty nappy!!

ruby relax while you can. Crap telly sounds like a great idea.

Adam was being mr cranky pants this morning. I wasn't sure if it was his stomach bothering him again or not. Following HV advice I filled a big bucket thing (you know the big rubber ones with handles) with warm water, stripped him off and popped him in. Worked a treat. Until he had to come out again that is...

socktastic · 11/08/2016 11:25

Does anyone else ever wonder if their babies get bored? A day is a very long time for someone who can't really do much!

Flossiesmummy · 11/08/2016 11:32

Anna I'm going to be a matching clothes loser too Grin

I'm using a papoozle carrier and loving that. Lusting after a mei tai though.

Rubytuesday2980 · 11/08/2016 11:42

tams we were given one:
www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk/products/beco-gemini-organic-black?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=1175656067&gclid=CJ2w-sfzscwCFQPgGwodFFIElQ

I tried it yesterday for the first time and it's comfortable and easy enough to get on, but I spent the entire (brief) walk worrying that he was going to overheat or stop breathing. Couldn't decide how tight it needed to be and again back to not knowing how many layers he should have on. And then there's his little ginger head on the sun!
Paranoid parent, me?

MrsRolly · 11/08/2016 12:09

Anna, Grace is a beaut she looks very wordly wise and not squished newborn.

We had a terrible night here as well, I spent the whole night in a weird daze thinking the reason Raff was waking up was because of a combination of someone waiting for their turn in the olympics and they were being overseen by Mrs Kim from Gillmore Girls... I may need to diversify my feeding viewing. It was very odd as I was awake so knew this made no sense but couldn't stop my brain trying to figure it all out.. Bizarre.

Cookies, no protein powder here, just a lot of eating! Also my DH is sleeping in with us but hasn't done anything useful at night since he went back to work which I am fine with, he would if I asked but he has an early start and is way more useless than I am on limited sleep and they are going into two months of overtime to fulfil a massive order so figure he needs the sleep.. I imagine if we have many more nights like last night he may wish he had put the spare bed in the nursery so he had a refuge ha ha

Right I need to shower before collecting my DD from forest school summer camp and hope she hasn't singed all her hair in learning to light fires in the woods!

MrsRolly · 11/08/2016 12:12

Tams, I have been using a close caboo and love it, only used the pram once! Have also got a Tula (pretty pattern) and just got a newborn insert so will be using that for longer walks.

Love baby carrying, so much easier than lugging a pushchair around for me personally.

socktastic · 11/08/2016 13:33

He's started collapsing his avent bottle teats now too. Do we need to go up a tear size?
Also think he may have a cold r something, poor wee toot. He's been snoring and when I burped him he made a horrible cough/burp/spew noise with a tiny bit of sick which seemed a bit mucusy - although was just normal white colour.

Jw35 · 11/08/2016 18:50

Hi all Smile
Violet Eleanor Grace was born on July 8th, 6lb 8oz. 3 weeks early by emergency section as I had pre eclampsia. She will be 5 weeks old tomorrow and now weighs 7lb 13oz. I have 2 other girls age nearly 13 and my toddler is 19 months. I'm absolutely shattered all the time with 2 under 2 and don't get much chance to chat but will come on when I can for support and friendship Smile

Flossiesmummy · 11/08/2016 19:03

Jw what a cutie! She's a day younger than Rose. Smile

beckslovestimmy · 11/08/2016 19:15

Hi JW, violet is a cutie. Congratulations. Life is certainly full on when you have more than one. I realised the other day in the 7 weeks Ben has been here I've had 2 days only where we haven't left the house. We've been so busy with DD 1 and Bens just come along got the ride!
