Ah - the dds are really interested in getting fit but type things so we can have a family challenge. My bday coming up so I think I might get a lower end fit bit and then v cheap versions for the dds.
Are you doing any weights? Builds the muscle which in turn uses more calories.

MrsNutella · 11/03/2017 15:31

WL that's my aim. I'm doing press ups and basically using my body weight and planks. I like planks because I know they work, but.... ouch! They are hard! And hot hands arggghhhh google that. It's a killer!

WLmum · 11/03/2017 20:55

Ah yes nutella we do that in my gym classes. Did I tell you about my press up challenge? I started the year on 1 press up each night and increased 1 each week - I'm up to 10 now!!

MrsNutella · 11/03/2017 21:15

WL that's awesome! I have set myself the challenge of being able to do a proper press-up. I have been working on my "cheaters" press-up and it has definitely improved.... can you do a really proper press-up then? I'm jealous!! Grin
Well done!

WLmum · 11/03/2017 22:15

Yep - I can do 10 - count em - full press ups!! Honestly I couldn't do any at the start of the year - hence one every day for a week, then 2 etc. Friends dh is a pt and says press ups are the ultimate exercise so I gave it a go.

PurplePidjin · 12/03/2017 13:57

Wow WL that's fab!

Nut that's exactly it. I'm eating exactly what I've always eaten except now I have to bugger about with points and putting it in an app. My diet isn't a problem!

I started couch to 5k before Christmas. Didn't like running in the dark (I go between bedtime feed and dinner) with earphones but have kept running and am attempting 5k tonight. R and I run/walk that every week at parkrun but obviously I go at his speed so it'll be interesting to see if I can do it solo and if I'm quicker. I'm doing a 10k for the British heart foundation in 3 weeks but I don't see muse running that distance. It'll have to be as much running as I can manage with walking breaks when necessary!

Huge amounts of cake and chocolate over the last couple of days. Hmm.

WreckTangled · 15/03/2017 20:11

I had an endoscopy today. It was all normal but it was not fun. The nurse said I was very brave Halo

MrsNutella · 15/03/2017 21:14

Pidj your original post is still up.... at least I can see it on the app. I'm not sure if it's different on the website?

Wreck well done you! They're not nice at all. Sympathy to you!
My little bro has had several. Poor love.

I'm working on my press ups WL Smile

WLmum · 15/03/2017 21:42

Run pidj run!
Hope you got a lolly tangled
Good work nutella! One every day for a week please!

PurplePidjin · 16/03/2017 10:49

Yeah, they took the trouble to edit it (and make me look foolish lol)

PurplePidjin · 16/03/2017 10:52

At the very least a sticker!

I managed 37:42 on Sunday and only walked across main roads and to snap a quick pic of the sunset

I ought to add in some strength training at some point, maybe I'll start the press up thing after Easter... or not Hmm

MrsNutella · 16/03/2017 12:14

Pidj oops yeah I didn't read through it distraction queen me oh well, at least it's edited. making you look daft was probably the real intention of the MN bods though
Well done on the running!

I was running during the summer and barely lost a Gramm (ok I probably lost a kilo or so, but still after three months or so...) and that was quite disappointing really. I might start up again this summer.

16:8 seems to be helping/working (?... I haven't weighed myself very recently) at the moment. It stops evening snacking and I think helps me resist sweet urges. I've swapped my afternoon snack to nuts. Otherwise I'm trying to just keep on eating less carbs and sugar and more veg.

Barbeasty · 16/03/2017 14:36

I've been asked by some mums at school to join in training for a 10k in October. I used to run a bit, but haven't since I got pregnant with A, so not quite sure.

Need to get rid of a fair bit of weight though, so tempted.

PurplePidjin · 17/03/2017 14:26

I'm doing one at the beginning of April. I can comfortably do 5k with minimal walking having not run since school and starting c25k before Christmas. So I say go for it x

Barbeasty · 17/03/2017 15:04

My main concern is that since I had pneumonia, every time I've started building up running I've ended up with a chest infection.
I'll definitely try training with them, but I don't know about committing to an actual run.

I love running but so hard to find the time. Really really want to start getting up early and going but my bed is just so lovely at 6am!

Barbeasty · 17/03/2017 22:19

Yes!

The thing is I'm up between 5&5.30am, leaving for work at 6.30. By the time I've collected the DC and made it home, done dinner and bed time it's after 7.30. DH gets home between then and 8.30, so once we've had dinner it's basically bed time.

Sunday morning training is about the only time I'm free!

Managed a 5k today and a 2.5k walk this evening with dd1. Good for today, but not enough for the week - or to work off the cake!

MrsNutella · 20/03/2017 07:51

WL well done!

We had a fairly rotten weekend. DH thought it would be nice to let DS have a pot of green jelly on Friday Confused three horrible nights and two long stressful days later I need sleep and am bloody glad kindergarten is open again!
We also finished he antibiotics on Friday and I think they affect him too.

Plus my mum is staying with us "helping" because DH is at a trade fair doing long days all week. Honestly, i think I'd rather be on my own and have some space!

WLmum · 20/03/2017 21:13

From the jelly nutella? That's nuts! Poor boy (and you obvs).
Know what you mean about helpful relations - ours are generally amazing but there are times...!

MrsNutella · 21/03/2017 07:01

WL it is the colouring and I suspect the flavouring (DH's brother avoids the flavour, in English it's Woodruff, because he knows it makes him weird and he is 45!) had a part to play as well.
DS spent all night Friday rolling into/on me, hitting, kicking and even pulling my hair. Saturday he was super wild. Sunday was better but I suspect he needs his telly downtime to tune out and was perhaps overtired and overstimulated.
Last night he was my happy funny boy again at last.

PurplePidjin · 21/03/2017 11:51

R goes weird on sweeteners. Between that and the no chocolate/caffeine when he was younger plus Slings and cloth nappies I looked like a proper hippy!

Anyone else still getting cute mispronunciations? R wants to be a bobthe when he grows up, as in Bob The Builder...

Barbeasty · 21/03/2017 20:57

DS uses the constructions to build lego, rather than the instructions.
