Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

I can see them and I haven't got an account...

FestiveAtForty · 14/01/2007 13:36

French ? this is exactly what Emma has started doing (been about 3 or 4 weeks now though) ? before that she slept 11pm-8am no problem. She has a dummy (since about 6 weeks old) and it falls out after she goes to sleep. It hadn?t occurred to me that the dummy might be the problem as when she wakes up she?s too upset/awake to go back to sleep without a feed ? just putting the dummy back doesn?t fix it. I?ve been assuming she is hungry as she had a very flat few weeks growth-wise so a growth spurt now would make sense ? she also feeds well up to 3 times a night. Grrrr it?s doing my sleep-deprived head in ? wish I knew for sure what it was! Am stuffing solids into her now in the hope that she will eventually eat enough of them to make a difference. Not doing BLW as I don?t think she?s ready, she will only swallow v smooth purees at the mo. She?s 26 wks today and has been on purees for a couple of weeks, she loves them. Will be interested to see if taking Thomas? dummy away will work, let us know!

Pretty ? sounds like something that your computer is doing, maybe pop up blocker or something? You could try temporarily disabling it (if it?s switched on) to see if it makes a difference?

Babalon ? good luck for your return to work! I?m probably not the best person to ask as I?ve been finding it a struggle but Ceebee has started a ?back to work in Jan? support thread in the ?Going Back To Work? section, have you seen it? My only advice is give yourself about 5 times longer than you think you need to get ready in the morning (even if you have prepared everything the night before) !

Willnbel ? embarrassingly all of my whinging has been generated by going back to work for only 2 days a week so far (plus some from home), but I?m building up to 3 days in a couple of weeks? time as I?m using up leave at the moment. What are you finding most difficult?

Bloss ? fab pics! Very stretchmark free! Wish I?d taken some now, it?s hard to remember exactly how huge you get isn?t it. I also think in your head you don?t ?feel? as big as you look - I can still remember being startled by my reflection in shop windows!

IamBlossom · 14/01/2007 19:17

Evening ladeez.

I know Festive, it's amazing isn't it, and I was two weeks late with Toby too, i can so remember being that big, although I am mesmerised by the photos, I can't believe I was carrying that around. No wonder DS1 was getting fed up with me not getting down on the floor to play with him I would never have got up again!!

Prettymum, I forgot to say that your photos of Junior are gorgeous. what a beautiful little boy, Amazing big eyes!

Babalon, goodish news re Logan's Talipes progress. I expect it will have taken this long for the longevity of the treatment to sink in, that seems perfectly understandable. So glad it is being managed effectively though, it must be frsutrating when he kicks the boots off if you know that will prolong things..

KZ - the swimming costume try on nightmare....... I am 4 pounds off my target pre-pregnancy weight, and feel rather pleased with myself until I a) catch sight of my upper thighs in a stupidly placed mirror (why did I put a full length on ein the hall outside the bathroom?) b) pay attention to the wobbly excess skin on arms/legs/arse as I run up stairs c) ever try anything on in any changing room. Weight is so irrelevant after childbirth it's the African boobs and saggy everything that you never really shift I reckon. Going swimming twice a week to try and tone up. I could lose another stone and still not feel comfortable wearing certain pairs of troos any more. On that point - DH kindly informed me that an article in the paper said that after 35 you shouldn't wear embroidered jeans, logoed t-shirts or show your thong, whether intentional or not....kerist, I'm going ot have to chuck out 3/4s of my wardrobe in three years time if that's the case......

babalon - re going back to work, no tips really, only that if you find it hard at first it will ge teasier if you get into a routine. A bit generic I know but true none the less. Toby seems to be on exactly the same feedng routine as Logan.

Fell off the wagon last night and had a glass of wine. Dh crowed like mad. Went to Bogor Regis for the afternoon today, had a lovely time. Toby teething like mental, terrible nappy rash poor thing, and didn't drink any milk tonight, had to Medised him to sleep....i think that spells a wakeful night for me...

catch up tomorrow.

sorry girls couldn't resist sharing these with you from today. I'll stop posting boring pix of my family now, promise.

(This is the problem when I drink wine you see...I get on the PC and there's no stopping me...)

Bognor Regis today

Ceebee74 · 14/01/2007 20:50

Bloss - lovely photos - looks like you had a good day.

Festive - you have made me rethink my 'getting up' time for work next week - I am trying to estimate how long it takes to feed and dress Josh (plus the time waiting for him to poo which he always does sometime after brekkie - don't want to dress him and then have to redo it all!) - plus dress me as I don't want to feed him whilst dressed in case he throws up over my suit ! Who would have thought it would be this hard!

Bablon - lovely to hear from you - glad things are a little better with Logan.

It is Josh's '6 month' birthday today and we have done the big move into his nursery - so far so good tonight (he still has to fall asleep wriggling his head in our duvet though) -lets hope he stays there all night. I couldn't do the moving the moses basket into the cot etc as he outgrew his moses basket at about 2 months so he has been sleeping in a crib in our room. I have been putting him in his cot to play with his cot toys every day for a while so it should be familiar to him - we shall see.

prettymum · 14/01/2007 21:10

ceebee, bloss, what are you doing to lose weight because i need to strat taking care of myself!

bloss- still cant see your pics, i have an account, its not pop up blocker, i dont know why!!!! this is getting to me not being able to see pics

festive- heres what i do before i leave for work on saturdays for 9 o'clock shift

wake up at 7, have quick shower, do my face and hair which all takes half an hour- 45 mins. feed junior and get him dressed, 8.oo- get dd dressed and fed, 8.30 madly rush and get bag packed, 8.45 dps uncle picks us up and drops me to work and takes kids to dps mum. did you notice how i end up skipping breakfast??

sometimes i rush for no reason, i just hate the thought of being late, whereas dp takes his time with everthing and i end up in a hump!!

better go and get junior off to sleep, thought id let him stay up a bit as he slept from 5pm till 7.30pm! goodnight xx

Lysettes · 14/01/2007 22:18

ceebee - our 6 month birthday too!

so many posts - i've just had to read to catch up and now i can't remember what everyone said

jacob does the most amazing farts too - really loud long ones! my parents heard them for the first time this weekend and were highly embarrased.

thanks for the lovely welcome too everyone

i am 5 foot 8 and weigh 11 stone 4 - need to lose about a stone and a bit - i put on 5 stone while pregnant with really bad pre-eclampsia (that accounts for the early birth), and have lost pretty much all of it, but am really flabby and stretchy now

for weaning we have fruit puree in the morning at 8ish, then mid morning milk, then veg puree and fruit for lunch then afternoon milk and dinner milk - if i introduce any more solids he doesn't have enough milk and is already waking at 1030ish and then 4ish for food..... he does love to help hold the spoon when i feed him which is great!

the little monkey - after my rolling question - the other morning he was on his baby gym and by the time i'd filled his bottles with water, he'd rolled onto his front and turned himself round 90 degrees and was grovelling around on the floor! won't do it when we are watching though

dh back tomorrow - has been away with work since wednesday - anyone else's work long hours / travel for work? have found it tough today for the first time since he went away on this trip, so glad he's back tomorrow.

sorry long post - will post more regularly and shorter - promise xxx

Hi all,
Too manyposts to catch up on all (4 days worth!!!)
All fine here... except neighbour above us has builders in so lots of loud banging which is ANNOYING! Dont know how Sefton is going to sleep through it.
Still only on fruit and veg purees, havent quite got brave enought to try anything else!
I am nervous of the BLW - how do they chew and not choke especially with no teeth?

My birthday coming up on the weekend and some girl friends are getting together at one of their places and making me a big meal! So sweet

Lovely pics on the beach, Bloss.

Kayzed, I am avoiding the costume buying in the faint glimmer of hope that I might lose weight in the next 6 weeks before I go to SA. All my family is there, and DH's Mil is a witch, so I also have the lack of day to day family support here, it can be tough

Have good weeks, all.

AnnieOleTing · 15/01/2007 11:43

Hello all ye ladies.

Hope all your weekends were good, though one day runs into the other really. My first week back at work was fine really, Festive, I know it's hard, but I just leave my two with DH and go. I hope things get better for you.

Bumpy, or WillnBel, great to see you back! I was offline for months too, it's impossible to catch up properly!

Kayley had a tiny bit of broccoli yesterday. She wasn't very impressed with it though. She's almost 6 months too, but I can't get her to eat anything really, I've tried loads of stuff, on spoons, on fingers, on the high chair... Maybe she's still traumatised after DS shoved a tuna sandwich in her mouth when she was about three months old!

KZ, thanks for asking, the arthritis only kicked in after I had DS, then went away again when I was pregnant, then kicked in hard again after I had Kayley. I've always had a fat knee and ankle, so I guess it was underlying, and just got triggered by suppression of the immune system during pregnancy and then over-compensated afterwards. I'm on steroids now, but I see the doctor next Monday and hopefully he'll give me these new biological drugs that he's pretty sure will work. Not nice, but it could be worse, once it's under control then I'll be able to live with it. Your carpal tunnel sounds painful, it is hard to look after little uns. I'm lucky that DH is there most of the time.

Getting the hang of sleeping I think! DS woke only twice last night, early on, then slept through in his own cot til 6.30am. Kayley seemed to be awake a lot for food, but I let DH see to her! She was in our bed for most of the night though. Just have to gradually get them to sleep in their cots I guess. One wakes the other...

RIght I really am jabbering on. Best do some kind of work now that I'm here.

Have a good week everyone

Annie

pinkdolly · 15/01/2007 12:41

Good afternoon from a very bleary eyed Pink at the mo.

Dd1's pox is worse than the others, she was up till 2am last night and still awake early this morning (dh dealt with her really tho).
As for me Jazz has discovered that she can shout, very loudly. Yeah, yeah, yeah... over and over till past 11 last night and early again this morning.

It's quite nice that she has found her voice but how can a child so small produce such a large sound.

I am shattered and will be glad when the pox is gone.

Bloss what lovely phots again. When everyones spots are gone I will post some more pics.

Well, am gonna leave it at that today. to tired to think.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

frenchleave · 15/01/2007 14:22

Oh bgger, just typed a big new message and Explorer crashed before it posted and now it's gone... does this mean the thread is already* too big for me to post on it?

AnnieOleTing · 15/01/2007 15:15

Ooh French, I hate when that happens!

Pink, hope your LO's get better soon, and you can finally get some sleep. Jazz is finding her voice at 11pm!? I know what that's like too, specially when DS is asleep, PLEASE don't wake him!! Get better soon lil pinks

Annie

Wallace · 15/01/2007 15:41

Very bleary eyed here too. Sleeping has gone haywire. Sat night he went to sleep 9 ish, woke at 11 (before I had gone to sleep) settled again at 12:30. WOke again at 2am, settled after about an hour in bed with me (decided it was too cold to try to put him back in his cot - prb for my sake, he's a good hot water bottle!). Dh came in (doing door work) and woke him at 4am. From that time on he didn't settle - I think when he is in bed with me he feeds to much then gets grumpy. He would fall asleep on my chest, and I drifted off, only to be woken 5 mins later. I eventually gave up at 6

Lat night was not quite as bad, but still pretty grim.

frenchleave - when I do a long post I alswys copy and paste before I clik on post message just in case

You lucky buggers off to foreign climes - I could do with a holiday!

Beadmum · 15/01/2007 16:10

bloss - great pics. looks like you had a lovely day, pics looked v.professional

pink - hope all is better soon, sounds awful

wallace - hope the sleeping is better soon

kz - was it you who said they had carpel tunnel? i had this while pregnant and mw said it would disappear after the birth but 6 months on it still gets v.painful at times, sometimes dont think its too bad but then out of the blue it sort of seizes up and is very sore, did you get any treatment for it? thinking of going to the doctors if it carries on

seen hv this morning and she said i should just keep giving charlotte fruit and veg purees for next few weeks, was thinking of introducing protein in couple of weeks. is this too soon? she was 6 months last week and just started weaning last week, only giving puree at lunchtime, anyone any advice as to when to start another mealtime?

im v.excited as dh and i were at b&q yesterday and we have ordered new kitchen hated the one in our flat since we moved so cant wait, 12 weeks before installation though

charlotte just woke up so better go, bye for now xx

HumphreysCorner · 15/01/2007 20:00

Have only missed 2 days and so much to catch up on. Me too is v. of any foreign travel as I last went to Spain in 2002 and DH and I haven't been anywhere since. Considering DH never takes his annual leave going somewhere is nigh on impossible. Have said we must get Sophie a passport so we can go next year (as long as I'm not up the duff again ). Have loaded my learn Spanish CD into my laptop but just need to sort out the microphone bit so I can be word perfect

madness-grrh at spilling the precious milk. If I have expressed for a babysitter and the milk doesn't get used I give it to Sophie the next day as I can't bear to waste it.

pink-hugs to you. Hope the girls get better soon.

Wallace-big hug to you too as tiredness is not easy to deal with.

Beadmum-new kitchen-hurrah!!!! 12 weeks is ages though.

Going to have to go as DH needs me offline

Back later

HC - big congrats! Don't worry about eating those extra 5 points - make the most of it. The main reason I go to the gym is so I can eat more

Willnbel · 15/01/2007 20:36

Evening mummies!

Aw Bloss, do you feel all nostalgic looking back at your bump piccies? I roared and snotted with laughter at reading your ponytail of skin comment! ... and ive just come across your other piccies... what a little love. Its such a pity we dont all live close. It would be so fab to have a babies get together.

Kayzed!! I snotted with laughter at your flippity floppy boobs comment too! Mine are sooooo much like dogs ears at the moment its so depressing! They used to be quite nice but look crap now!

festive... the worst bit about being back in work for me is missing things like the first time he rolled. I was gutted. And MIL was the first to see it. I love being able to get back into the gossip and i do enjoy doing what i do (child protection), but i miss him an awful lot.

Annie... have you tried rice pudding or anythinglike that? I started on things that looked a bit like milk but a bit thicker.

HC...I've probably eaten your five points worth six times over and William is on the bottle, so i've got no excuse!

soph28 · 15/01/2007 20:52

evening everyone!

Chloe rolled over from front to back on Friday and has done it several times since but only when she is naked! Obviously a bit of an exhibitionist!

HV basically didn't have a clue about tongue tie and recommended I take her to the gp. However am going to visit my sister this week and her friend who is a paediatrician is going to have a look.

Have read up about BLW - is it right that you can't really start until they can finger feed? Chloe can't really hold things very well yet- she's a bit slow in that department unlike her older brother who could practically spoon feed himself by 6mths.

I do the dumping them in bed and running thing too- works a treat- tired babies only really want their bed, they just don't know it until you leave them there. If you catch them before they seem tired it's even better- they just drop off without any fuss (ok not everytime but it does work). My two have been in their own rooms from day 1.

KZ- how big is Roshi (lol about the 12-18mth bottoms) but have you tried boys clothes cos I'm sure they're bigger. Lol I hope they are otherwise my two will be wearing the same size soon. Chloe is in 6-9mth trousers and Toby is in 9-12mth trousers and vests (he's 21mths).

I am also 5'8'' and would like to be 11 and a half stone. My ideal weight is apparently meant to be between 9 and 10 and a half stone but I would be emaciated, I don't think it's humanely possible for me to be that thin.
