Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

Hi everyone,

Hope your all ok. Have ordered a new pushchair (smaller and lighter to overcome bus difficulties!) but I have waited over a week now and am going crazy...!
So excited its a Jane Energy.

I only give Jake a couple of spoonfulls of puree after 2 of his bottles. I have no idea how to wean a baby, and when I try to read the bounty book its rubbish.
I cant seem to focus on anything

I am doing slimming world (yar boo yes i know!) and have lost a stone so far, I am 5'9 and just over 15st so I want to lose another 4and a half idealy 5 but know i will never be that thin!

Wallace - cute pic he's got chubby wrists like jake! so cute i never knew babies have them till i had my own!

Impy - very cute little heartbreaker!!

Anyway, better go, just waiting for the steriliser to cool down from skin-peeling so I can fill them and go to bed (yay).

Morning ladies

All of you tongue tie ladies,my brother always said ds2's tongue was weird but i assumed a baby with tongue tie wouldn't be able to bf so ignored him. As a result his speech was pretty much non existent at 2yrs.Took him when he was 18 months to the HV who referred him to get it snipped at the chldrens hospital.Within 3 months he was speaking properly, just wish i'd done something earlier.

Off out with my mum to look at dresses again.Someone asked if i can describe the dress i like,it's really simple and plain, will post wedding pics later.

Went to my slimming class, lost 5lbs this week after gaining at xmas time.Total of 1 and a half stones so far.The slimming teacher said i can easily lose another stone maybe more by mid march when i do my dress fitting.

Still thinking about the BLW but Eilidh can't roll and is nowhere near to sitting up so not sure if i should delay weaning or to start with the purees and do blw when she can sit up in her highchair.Wallace if you are about today maybe you can advise?

off to dress the dd's and do the school run.

Take care xx

Oh btw Eilidh is still exclusivly bf and goes down in her cot but wakes when i go to bed so i usually bring her into bed and feed her.I like co-sleeping as my bf babies have not slept thru the night till well over 18 months/2 years.Don't want to sit up in another room feeding then try to get back to sleep.Lazy cow eh?

kz, ive been bargain hunting online- us asians love bargains and haggle were possible!! i bought two dungarees for dd and junior and a buggy toy thing from vertbaudet.com and guess how much i paid?? £4.98 . they have a sale on and i found a £10 discount code in hotukdeal.com and only really paid for delivery.

heres the code if anyone wants to use it:
1086

make sure you buy stuff which add up to £10 so you only pay pp.

frenchleave · 12/01/2007 10:41

Ooh freaky dream, kz!

We didn't have time to dream last night, Thomas woke loads - at 11pm, 1am, 3am for a feed, 6am then 8.45am. Usually he wakes just once for a feed, so what was that all about? (yawn)

Algach - I wondered about the sitting thing too before going for BLW because T is the same. Will strapping them into a highchair be ok? Or is it essential that they can sit alone? Wallace, maybe?

AnnieOleTing · 12/01/2007 13:50

Frenchleave and Soph, my Kayley was also born on the 18th. Triplets! She can sit really well now, just the odd topple over (or more often shove over by her BB), but the weaning sounds just like yours, Soph, she'll watch us eat, chew away herself, but as soon as I put a spoon to her mouth, she shuts it tight!! Just have to keep trying I guess.

KZ lucky you off to the warmth of Down Under. Hope Roshi is ok.

HC, thanks for asking, work is actually fine. Better than I expected. Not doing a whole lot really!!

Not such a bad night last night, Kayley only woke twice, and DH sorted her out. DS woke three times, but as I was feeling not-so-arthritic last night, I got up to him and managed to get him back to sleep in his cot in his room in a matter of minutes! When DH does it, as he normally does, cos I can't move, he's up for AGES, playing, drinking juice, etc etc. Maybe I just got him on a good night, but it looks like I'll be doing it in future!

WillnBel, is that you bumpy? Seems obvious but I can't be sure!!

Oh yeah, hello to the newbies, and gorgeous pics everyone

Annie

HumphreysCorner · 12/01/2007 14:07

Afternoon ladies

Oh, I so lurve the baby swim class

Willnbel-panic ye not about Weetabix as it is fine to give. I follow this Cow & Gate Babyfeeding guide which I did for DD1 and it worked for me really well. Anyway, it recommends that after 7 months to introduce toast and sandwiches but before this all mashed and pureed food. I don't like Weetabix myself as find it too gluey as I dislike milk and can't bear too much on cereal. Sophie has spat lumpy food out before so I believe at 7 months it is time she tried lumpier food. The chart is as follows:

5-7 months On waking-boob/8oz bottle. Breakfast-cereal mix and boob/7oz bottle. Lunch-main course i.e. jar or own mashed food, dessert i.e. jar or own stewed fruit and cooled boiled water/baby juice. Tea-main course as above, dessert as above and boob/7oz bottle. Evening-boob/8oz bottle.

7-9 months On waking-boob/7oz bottle/packet milk(?) Breakfast-cereal mix, toast/sliced banana on rice cakes and cooled boiled water/baby juice. Lunch-main course as above or a mashed sandwich (?), dessert as above and water/juice. Tea-main course, dessert and boob/7oz bottle/packet milk. Evening-boob/7oz bottle/packet milk.

9-12 is the same apart from you don't mash the sandwich-yay!

Soooooo, milk 4 times a day (30 oz) up to 7 months then reduce to 3 times a day (21 oz).

But-this is only a guide and you can do whatever suits and if I was a better mummy I would be doing pureed veg and fruit in ice cube trays but been there, done that and got the T-shirt with DD1 and I found it a pain so stuck to tins of Heinz up until she was well over a year old Did mash up Sunday lunches and make her macaroni cheese and give her a baked potato with cheese (she wasn't keen as too dry) Spag hoops and beans on toast are a good one. With Sophie I am going to knuckle down when she reaches 7 months and reduce the amount of tins I give her. Also, v. annoying having to buy 35 tins a week especially zapping them through the DIY till at Tescos.

Sophie-(although I hate to say it) seems to take after DH. Having said that, both girls came out the spitting image of him but DD1 now looks like me-phew! So there is still time for Sophie to change. Do not want any of the Mafia traits in my girls.

Re: WW-I think we are just going to post our weight loss on this thread but have noticed a new WW thread on the diet section

kayzed-v. strange dream huh? Aren't we going to hear from you for 5 weeks Can't function if you are not on here-lol

agalch-brill weight loss-you are going to be a truly beautiful bride. Can't wait for the pics.

kosh-you have lost loads of weight. Well done ! Listen, you are tall-I am only 5 foot and weigh 11st 5lb so you don't need to lose all that amount. 5ft 9 and 10st is too low to maintain when you have a hectic lifestyle. You will get the hang of weaning-don't stress about it.

kbaby-thank goodness all is OK. How worrying for you, I don't remember you mentioning it?

Think I've droned on enough so will catch you all later.

Oh, must mention the MIL. She has taken it upon herself to find out how much our new tumble drier is and what the energy rating is. It is rated C so she lectured DH on how rubbish it will be and how much electricity it will use. Looked in Tescos and they are all C and C is in the green zone. GGGGGGRRRRR!!!!!

Thanks for all the pix compliments ladies. It's super easy and free to set up an account with Blogspot for those wondering about posting pictures.

IamBlossom's post was really lovely about Kayzed. A great way with words.

From what I understand, as long as the baby can sit with support, then weaning can go ahead. If I waited until Ryan could sit un-aided before I weaned him, he'd be about 2! (Going from his inability to roll at six months!)

Algach - your dress sounds lovely. Hope all the preparations are going well. Will it be a big 'do'? The stress of organising a wedding has been the main thing putting me off having one myself! DP and I have been together 13 years and sometimes wonder about getting hitched - maybe we'll get round to it when we're fifty!

Well done on the bargains PrettyMum. I'm all about good deals!

Scary about the lump, KBaby. Relieved it all turned out ok.

Good luck to those with tongue-tied babies - I'd never heard about it until this thread - and I thought I'd read up on everything baby-related!

Have good w/end all. I'm going out for a girl's night out tomorrow with a very small expat mum's group I've got going here! Babies' health permitting of course... {finger's crossed icon}

Hugs, Impy

Hi guys

Just a quickie - Kbaby - glad everything was ok, you must have been worried.

RE WW - I agree that we should just post our weight loss on here - don't want the entire MN world to know how fat I am . Me and DH are having weigh-ins on Sunday nights so will post on Mondays. Kosh - well done so far, agreee that 10st seems thin for someone your height (I am 5ft 8 and aiming for 11 and a half stone).

Impy - fab piccies - so cute! July obviously was the month for gorgeous babies!

IamBlossom · 12/01/2007 15:10

afternoon ladeez.

at comments re my KZ post. Nothing that the rest of you weren't thinking I'm sure. i love this trhead and get alot of support from it, so nice to think we can lift each other up on accasion.

KBaby - have decided on the stregth of what you said to go for the PM role. i think I'd be rudy marve, and am assembling my all female cabinet as we speak, and will post on my new laws as and wehen.... Hugs re the ultrasound hon, glad all is ok!

Algach - wedding shopping, what fun! Well done you on the weight loss. Cannot WAIT to see your pix after the event! I bet your kids are so excited. What a lucky man your soon to be Dh is

Have had a mixed couple of days, such highs and lows with this parenting lark. Toby eats homemade for lunch and jar for tea too Bumpy. I was taking out what I thought was enough from the freezer for two meals and he was eating it all for lunch so it's kind of stuck that way. he will eat the eqivalent of a jar for main and a jar for pud. Breakfast is baby porridge mixed with fruit puree. He will also drink 4 x 8 oz bottles a day. Slept 11 hours straight last night. I have found that I need to let him smell the food on the spoon to get him to open his mouth wide enough...Re BLW, I also think i will try that when Toby can sit up on his own, but he can't do that yet. I am feeding him in his bouncy chair at the moment.

DS1 is very high spirited, and I love him to pieces but I really lost my temper with him this morning and smacked his bum and I NEVER smack and feel like a monster. HC can really sympathise, kids can drive you mad. It's the opposite with us here at the moment, DS1 won't let his father do ANYTHING for him, but as KZ said, this will probably swap over soon enough...

Ciao for now girls, got some policies in my manifesto to fine tune...

Bloss

will of course have a secretary in my new position to spell check all correspondence....

HumphreysCorner · 12/01/2007 15:11

Ceebee-lol, yes will WW only on here.

kayzed-this is why Sophie has less milk as she wouldn't eat much if I gave her milk first and food makes her last longer DD1 was a bottle fed baby so it was easy to shove a bottle in at the right time and know how much she was having so was able to cut it down accordingly. Actually, I tell a lie, it wasn't easy at all-far from it. Weaning Sophie has been alot easier. Roshi is gaining weight but is perhaps a tad fussy like DD1 was but she was still a right porker. She is still v. annoying regarding food.

Hi girls,

I am soo tired. Both dd1 and Jazz have now come out in the pox. Poor Jazz has spots right next to eye (cant really put cream on that).

Have been reading all your posts on dieting. You lot are doing so well. Me on the other hand, not so good. nearly everyday i wake up and say today is the day, but it never is. I have 1-2 stone to lose but just dont seem to have the will power at the moment.

More beautiful piccies of the lo's, I do like looking at them. I must get dh to post some recent ones of Jazz.

Well, my pushchair came yesterday. Its soo big after having the maclaren but jazz loves it. Its lovely to push and seems very snuggly too. Best bit she can see me so she doesnt complain. Dear of her.

I have my sister coming to stay with me tomorrow. Her baby is due on the 24th and she is alone. So needs the support She is bringing her 4 year old dd with her, so will have a housefull.

Kbaby- am glad your lump was nothing to worry about.

Agalch- Was it you who mentioned that your b'fed babies didnt start sleeping thro the night until quite late on? How long did you breastfeed for? and how did you cope with the lack of sleep.
I am so loving feeding Jazz and hope to keep on for at least a year (dh thinks it a bit odd to bf a 1 year old. Although the HV recommend it until 2 years dont they.

I wish I had never found the for sale board on here, it runs my life now. By nature I am a bargain hunter and I cant help but check to see if there is anything I want. In the last week I have brought a pushchair, leap pad books and a happy street set. Must stop looking now.

Oh and you know that pamper day I was gonna have for my birthday... I'm thinking about not going. I havent left Jazz for that long b4. Last time I left her for just a couple of hrs she was distraught. Just dont think I can do it. Thinking about spending the £100 on the secret stash in Lush instead. What do you think?

FestiveAtForty · 12/01/2007 16:25

Hi Girls
Been dying to post all week but am hanging and just haven?t been able to summon the time and energy ? can?t properly catch up without writing a 3 page essay? I?ll try and do it in bits and pieces maybe. Thanks for all your nice comments about Emma?s pics . I?ve looked fleetingly at the gorgeous babes that have been posted this week but will go back now and have a proper look.

Back to work this week and last. It has been very tough so far ? physically (due to lack of sleep), mentally (brain doesn?t work) and emotionally (because of nursery). There?s just so much to organise before even getting there, I am useless in the mornings at the best of times and as I haven?t got into a routine yet it?s a HUGE effort. I got half way to work on Monday (running late already) and realised I had left the EBM in the fridge, drove back to the house sobbing, grrrrrr Even lining things up by the front door doesn?t work, I still managed to leave my coat at home today.

Bloss (and everyone else who posted) ? thanks for your nice words about going back to work, I read them (sneakily) while I was there and nearly burst into tears again, (but in a good way)!

Us ? Emma has settled well at the nursery I think, not napping for long is her only problem but she seems happy there and the staff are great, so that?s one less worry. Hope Zack?s sleep has got better again.

Bloss ? know what you mean about the highs and lows of parenting ? I can totally see how easy it is to get REALLY exasperated (I get totally hacked off sometimes with just a 6 month old and the dog!) and I think everybody must do, so don?t feel like a monster!

Re sleep patterns - Emma?s still waking up very frequently, seems to be getting worse if anything, has been about every 2 hours for the last couple of weeks. She goes off to sleep okay at night when we all go to bed, she just won?t settle again without a feed if she wakes up. She certainly feeds well during the night, but she doesn?t need to feed every 2 hours during the day so it doesn?t really make sense. She?s enjoying her solids though so am keeping fingers crossed. Am also going to try putting her down (earlier) in her own room this weekend to see if the peace and quiet helps (am currently blaming DP?s snoring and coughing!)

Re bf babies? sleep, Emma (who is exclusively bf) must be a bit of an anomaly as she slept through the night brilliantly from about 3 months to 5 months, and only recently has regressed back to ?newborn? sleeping patterns. Might well be due to a growth spurt, she is always hungry but is very light still, only 12lbs 8 and on the lowest pink centile. She will put herself to sleep really well sometimes, but only if you catch her ?sleep window?, otherwise I usually resort to bf to settle her.

Kbaby ? good news about the scan, hope it wasn?t too stressful, sounds as if it may have been xx

Pink ? sorry to hear about your poorly girls, hope you get some rest soon. Glad you?re enjoying your pram at last though! Don?t know how that model slipped through my radar, I spent many hours looking for something like that (rear facing etc) before I got the Quinny. Re your pamper day, could you maybe have a couple of practice sessions of leaving Jazz again before making a decision? Could have just been a one-off before maybe?

Well I?m going to stop now and will catch up with some more later. Have good afternoons all xxx

kbaby · 12/01/2007 16:33

Kayzed- they weren?t that full as I hadn?t long fed, was strange though to have the doctor groping them.
Koshka-I was the same re weaning on dd and found the do not mention person or Annabel book v good. Tells you what you should be doing when.
Agalch- please don?t frighten me, 2 years of no sleep!!! Well done on the weight loss.
Hc ? there aren?t that many a/b rated tumbles in the market as generally tumblers arent energy efficient. Those that are are over £400.00, ours is c.
Pink ? I hope both girls improve soon. I think you should go for your pamper day and just ring home and check how she is. You can easily go home if need be. It would be a shame not to go if jasmine was ok.

Ds has quite a bad patch of cradle cap and hes scratched it today and now its all weeping, do you think I should get the gp to take a look, what can I put on it.

pinkdolly · 12/01/2007 17:16

kbaby- re cradle cap. Olive oil is a good one. just rub loads in. Jazz either has to wear a hat or gloves to stop her cutting her head.

I went to herballink and brought a pot of cream. 100% natural. It works really well to stop the itching. it £10 for a small pot, but lasts ages. I use it on her ezcema as well.

I know your right about leaving Jazz for the day. I just find it v.hard.

HumphreysCorner · 12/01/2007 18:19

pink-I would go on your pamper day, Jazz will be fine and you will feel refreshed. Sorry to hear about the pox.

Quick question as should be doing tea. Sophie has gone to bed at 6pm tonight and last night was 6-15pm so it is getting earlier. She was shattered but isn't it too early? Should I be trying to keep her up? DD1 was always a pain to put to bed due to excess energy at this age and still is! She was going to bed at 9pm and I managed to wean her on to going at 7pm (much to MIL's disgust as she liked to come round and play with her????!!!!????) Sophie still sleeps through whatever time she goes to bed.

OP posts:
pinkdolly · 12/01/2007 19:03

HC- Dont quote me on this but IMO Some babies need more sleep then others. If Sophie is tired by 6 and sleeps the whole night then she obviously needs it. I'd be over the moon if Jazz slept like that.

I'm sure it's perfectly normal.
