Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

Hi Girls
Started typing this yesterday but got distracted so sorry if I?m a bit out of date!

Sleep ? hope you have a fab visit to SA ? lovely time to get away from here with the lovely Feb weather

Kosh ? gorgeous set of pics, what a sweetheart

Skay {{{hugs}}} , what a rotten time you?ve had. How are things now?

Kbaby ? hope your DS is a bit better today, must be very distressing to see him so feverish xx

Agalch ? well done on the weight loss, not long till the wedding now, is it April?

Kayzed ? Enjoy your last week! We should all get ourselves a private website (no lurkers allowed) so you can spill the beans on the full story!

Pretty ? hope Junior?s teeth are improving ? poor wee thing slapping himself! Re broadband, there are some good comparison sites (eg uswitch.com) ? if you type ?compare broadband? into Google lots will come up. Don?t go with Orange though, they were dreadful when I was with them!! Am with BT now, not the cheapest but working okay so far (fingers crossed)

Bloss ? blimey ? a whole avocado and banana !! That?s great, he?ll be getting lots of vitamins into him. Emma does eat surprisingly large meals for such a wee one, but I don?t think she could manage that yet, have to get her to work up to it! Hope your tooth?s not feeling too bad, what a bummer about the headaches. Well you have a good excuse for using alcohol as an anaesthetic till you can see the dentist anyway Lol at the camera thing, that?s exactly what Emma does!

Was filled with trepidation yesterday as I gave her some yoghurt ? her first dairy since she was really sick on formula (rang NHS Direct and everything, she was really ill poor thing). She won?t drink formula any more, but she did scoff down the yoghurt ? no obvious ill effects so far but she is VERY grumpy today and just had a horrible nappy .

She?s still sitting well, but topples every now and again, backwards, sideways and forwards! No sign of crawling, but she does like being propped up standing. Bought a babycentre on Ebay yesterday (bit like an immobile baby walker with a seat that swivels) as they have one at nursery that she likes going in ? can?t wait for it to arrive!

Have a good weekend all xx

FirstAtForty · 17/02/2007 16:04

Well postscript to my earlier post ? she has just puked for literally the first time since she last had formula about 3 months ago, so looks pretty conclusive that dairy is just not her thing. Same pattern as before, she wasn?t sick until about 2 hours after the feed (and she only had a teaspoon of natural yoghurt). Just wondered, how often do your lo?s vomit and when? Is it usually straight after a feed if they do?

maewest · 17/02/2007 16:43

F@F - DS used to be a real puker, but has slowed right down now, usually just the odd bit after feeds (used to be pretty random, some times a huge one up to 2 hrs later). He's not really taken to actually swallowing solids much, more moving them in his mouth, storing them up and then dribbling it out later as soon as I've taken the bib off . Sounds like dairy may be a problem for Emma, what a pain.

It's my birthday next Tuesday (will be 29), so my parents are staying this weekend to babysit whilst DH & I go out tonight. This is our first night out together since the boy was born . We are going for a bite to eat/drink and then going to cinema, how exciting. My parents are out now wheeling DS around the streets to try and tempt him to have a nap...

FirstAtForty · 17/02/2007 18:47

Hi Mae - Happy Birthday for Tuesday
Yes should be fine for Bristol meet up, looking forward to it!

Well the vomiting continues here, gave her a feed late afternoon (bf, pear and baby rice) and she chucked it all straight back up, and has carried on chucking since then, poor thing. Been doing some reading up on dairy allergy, apparently one of the common symptoms is poor weight gain (dairy can pass through into breast milk) so am a bit that none of the health profs so far have mentioned it. Guess I'll try cutting down on dairy myself (boo hoo) - I luuurve cheese, butter, ice cream and milk on my cereal.

Bloss - sorry just noticed that you said you were giving up alcohol for a while, so no good for anaesthetic! (I'm sure you are quite lovely and svelte enough without resorting to drastic measures like that though )

skay · 17/02/2007 19:52

Hi girls,

All of us feeling better now. Thank you to all of you for sending regards, (And just being there!)

Any way update on Kavya's progress.

Kavya is now really crawling - speedily!
She crawling to furniture and pulling herself up. She crawls to a particular stool, pulls herself up, and pushes it along walking behind it!!!
I wish she would slow down she's growing up too fast!!!
I made DS a sandwich for him to eat on our travels. Just plain bread and buter. He refused but Kavya was quite happy eating little bits that were given to her! I think I'll be making a small sandwich for her to eat on our outings.
Hope I haven't made too many of you jealous but she's been speeding along.

Bye for now

Happy birthday for Tuesday F@F.

Evening ladies

Hope all are OK.

First-Sophie used to be very sicky and now it is every now and again but does tend to be after eating Petit Filous and the sick smells of it too. Did cut it out for a while but it is convenient for when we go out. Hope Emma's sickness passes.

mae-have a good night you dirty stop outs

skay-gosh, crawling and cruising already. Brilliant.

kayzed-you never fail to surprise me. Sounds v. exciting.

We went to the Pizza Hut and I stuffed a small Italian Supreme, 2 bits of garlic bread and a salad. Now I feel guilty that I won't lose weight this week. Got to have a life though. At least on pancake day DH and DD1 have their tea at MIL's when DH picks DD1 up so I won't have to make and eat pancakes.

We called in at MIL's on the way home and it was OK. Kept my beady eye on her.

Have had 2 attempts at ISketch when the server lets me on and the first time in a MN room it kept saying I was asleep. The 2nd time I hadn't a clue what to draw each time so passed. Must practice drawing first methinks-am quite good at guessing.

Have a good weekend.

Hello ladies. Koshka - what lovely pics and nearly crawling too! What a clever boy! We've had to stop using Aidan's bouncy chair, it's just too nervewracking.

Us - Congratulations!

Everything's really slow on my PC at the mo as I'm trying to email a 60MB video to my M&D. Is that too big for emailing do you think? And does anyone know where I can get free Winzip type software?

Aidan's rolling has really taken off now and he's rolling himself all over the place now. He seems to do a kind of tacking manouvre as well, rolling side to side and gradually moving forwards or backwards.

He had a settling in visit to nursery on Thursday which went very well. We were able to watch him for a while on their CCTV. They sat him down surrounded by cushions and he sat up on his own for about 20 minutes . All of a sudden he just seems to have got the hang of his balance and he's absolutely loving it - he was waving toys around and everything [proud mummy emotion]

The worst thing about him being one of the youngest on the thread though is that all these things are old hat to most of you . But he's my PFB lol and I find it so exciting!

KoshkaAndJake · 18/02/2007 00:42

Hey everyone! He's crawling!!!

He propels himself with his feet to get to the basket with newspapers in to pull over his head (we have a fire, not just lazy with recycling) so I have sorted into broadsheets (my mums) and tabloids (my news of the world) and put the tabloids out to recycle as my mum prefers bigger papers to light (i think she is just a tabloid snob to be honest but she wont say it to my face)

Soph - jake has a tooth like that, i only found out when he was drinking water from my glass and there was a clinking sound...oops i wondered why he was crying at night.

KZ - thats way cool wosh i could elope like that, telling noone, sounds romantic, your own secret! You could always have a vows renewal at vegas, bet they don't have many of them there.

Wallace - get your bum back on MN we miss you!

F@40 - Dairy allergy must be bad good on you to notice, i would just think it was one of those things and bad on docs not to listen to you, just shows they should take mums seriously even if it just to placate your own fears. jake throws up if he falls to hard on to his tummy to roll but not much apart from that (touch wood)

HC - dont feel too bad about a bit of naughty food. im on slimmingworld but always have to have choc when my mum allows me to take time off for a bath...heaven!

Best go do bottles, have had busy day, cleared out the cupoard under the stairs, it had about 10 loads of washing stashed in it with the condenser dryer, mostly mums and i hoovered it out and mopped, then hoovered and mopped the kitchen and living room...could you tell i wasnt looking after a child at the same time, i do not know how anyone manages to do housework and look after a baby. i do it all when hes in bed after 11pm (GGGRRRRR).

Night night x

Ceebee74 · 18/02/2007 08:13

KZ - how exciting your life is - am !

Mae - Happy Birthday for Tuesday - hope you had a fab night last night. What film did you see?

F@F - Josh doesn't throw up straight after eating but does possett quite a bit in between feeds. LOL HC at the yoghurt-smelling sick - we had that yesterday. Josh ate a full strawberry Little Stars yoghurt (which is a major achievement for him) but then promptly deposited little bits of yoghurt sick all over the floor on his travels for the rest of the day - all we could smell for the rest of the day was sickly-sweet strawberry sick!

Soph - wow - what a clever baby you have

Well, Josh has started saying mama - so sweet. (Well it is actually mamamamamamama but still....DH is not pleased he thinks I have been secretly training him when he is at work)

HC - I have not had that good a week on the diet either - just found it hard to be strict and eaten too much chocolate (mini-eggs just keep calling to me!) so we shall see tonight at the weigh-in.

Wallace · 18/02/2007 09:14

I d read all the meassages - it's having the time to reply that is hard. I'm evening wondering if my sore wrist is down to too much isketching

Well done jake and kavya for crawling!!!! And wow at the cruising! Leo doesn't even really support him self on his legs at all - just bounces

Well done Aiden on suddenly getting the hang of sitting! Leo was like that for ages he could sit, but as soon as he reached for something he would topple over. Then suddenly he could just do it

Happy birthday for tuesday mae

koshka - come and do my house work please! We got a new kitchen put in (we are lucky in some ways to have a council house!) and most of the crap from the cupboards is still piled in my sitting room.

I find it so hard to get anything done. Leo has been miserable because he hasn't been well, but also I think he is starting seperation anxiety. If I walk out of the room and he doesn't notice, then when I walk back in and he sees me he starts crying. I take it as a compliment! He also saw me throught hte window when I was hanging washing out and started to cry.

Food is going well, luckily Leo is a born eater. He happily chomps everything within reach (eg books, paper, the dog...)

F@F - it wil be interesting to see if there is a change when you cut out dairy (poor you though!)

DS temperature finally seems to have gone after 6 days and he seems a lot brighter and eating much better. Now we just need to get him back on track with sleeping as hes been used to being held to sleep as ive been so afraid of putting him down.
Ds cracks me up as he is such a serious little boy and scowls all the time. Its almost impossible to get a piccie of him smiling. Its lush though as he hates being with anyone else if im there and its such a nice feeling when I get hold of him and he cheers up. It makes me feel special.

Prettymum- No idea how it works sorry as we also need it. At the moment I have to travel a lead from the living room into our study/play/junk room to use the pc.

DD sat up at 5.5 months, crawled at 7 and was walking at 12 months so to me it seems that DS is a bit behind her but then he doesn?t get half as much practice, as hes normally consigned to his bouncy chair while I do the housework etc and if I lay him on the floor DD will not leave him alone so he ends up crying.

DS will eat slightly lumpy food ie banana but wont eat other fruit that hasn?t been cooked ie mango, papaya. Ive now given up cooking fruit and I just buy the cow & gate or organic fruit purees. I was gutted yesterday as I opened the freezer door and a box of cauli and green beans ice cubes fell over the floor. Typical all my hard work down the drain.

Iamblos- how did you get him dry? Dd has been potty trained for 5 weeks now and her nappies in the morning are dry but at what stage do you take the jump?

Kayzed- you sound so happy back home and youre making me make the most of your last week.
Koshka ? He looks like such a happy little boy and so grown up and big, You must be v proud of him.
Wallace ? whats iketch?

kbaby · 18/02/2007 11:08

omg- im broody and even feeling nostalgic about DS baby days and how lovely it would be to do it again. Am I mad!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont even enjoy newborn babies but seeing one makes me go ahh. Realistically 3 would be too much work, not enough bedrooms and mil would have a fit at having to mind another but then I see little babies and I want one.

Please tell me this will pass

FirstAtForty · 18/02/2007 14:00

Lol (and congrats ) re the cruising babies ? this wasn?t a term I had come across before a couple of weeks ago and I had all these images of babies cruising bars before I realised what it meant

Well done to Jake for crawling, he?s definitely one of the most mobile (if not the most mobile?) of the bunch so far isn?t he! Re paper tearing, Emma loves it too, her favourite time is at the weekends when she gets a whole colour supplement to destroy, keeps her occupied for ages.

ISketch is good isn?t it. Had a bit of a stressful session the other day though as my palms got a bit sweaty with excitement when it was my turn to draw so I couldn?t control the touchpad and each attempt at drawing turned into more and more of a disaster? the guessers started typing things like WTF??? Kbaby iSketch (online pictionary) is at www.isketch.net ? read instructions, type a log in name and go to the Mumsnet room at the bottom of the list on the right.

Kayzed and Ceebee ? congrats on the words, how exciting! I?m dying for Emma to start talking, if only to find out what?s going on in her bonkers little head!

Prettymum ? sorry I may have misunderstood, thought you wanted to change supplier. If you don?t then you can just buy a wireless router box (just a small plastic box with an aerial on it) and plug it into your broadband phone line - and load the software that comes with it on to your computer. It?s fairly simple, I managed it without too much trauma so it must be! I think you can get router boxes for around £50, or maybe less now. Have a look at www.netgear.co.uk ? that?s one of the most common brands of router and it explains what the equipment does and how it works. Once you know what box you want just do some websurfing to find the cheapest one.

Emma?s much better today, puking over. Though she did throw up all over herself and her bedclothes at midnight last night after her last feed, grrrrr. Three changes of clothes and a change of bedclothes, all because of a teaspoon of yoghurt. I don?t think I would have made the connection if she was a generally pukey baby, it?s just that since she was about 4 weeks old she has weirdly never once been even a little bit sick, except after formula and then this time with the yoghurt, so it was a very obvious departure from the norm. (Unless you count that time with the broccoli, but I think that was selective regurgitation rather than vomiting ) And when she had the formula last time she really did look ill, went white as a sheet and floppy, so again fairly obvious that something was up.

Well better get on, sorry for the essay!

maewest · 18/02/2007 14:38

Had lovely night out last night - saw The Science of Sleep, v funny (and Gael Garcia Bernal is cute). DS was v well behaved for his grandparents, apparently he roused briefly just as they were about to eat supper, but my mum went up and rubbed his tummy and stuffed the dummy in and he went right back off to sleep.

Bit knackered today as we didn't get in until midnight, such a late night for me now and DS seems to be in a habit of late of waking for an early morning feed at 4.30am , but then will go down again until about 7.30/8.00. He's definitely hungry at this time, so time to go with the flow again...

Foodwise, he has recently experimented with cucumber, lettuce, dried apricot, rice cakes and this morning scrambled egg (courtesy of my mum). I did offer him a few spoons of pureed sweet potato on Friday to show my mum that I am making a bit of an effort, think she realises now that he's not that bothered about solid food at the mo. She also seems to think that I'll be winding up bf soon (like she did), so have been suitably vague about that. She's not nasty about it, just when she was feeding us the guidelines were that babies could have cows milk at 6 months, so that's what she did.

IamBlossom · 18/02/2007 19:49

evening ladies.

KBaby, glad DS is feeling brighter. Re getting DS1 dry, he just never had a wetnappy in the morning, I noticed also that he would call me at whatever time of night he needed a wee, so it was actually waking him up, the feeling of needing to go. So now I just make sure he has his last drink by 6pm, and goes to the loo before bed as much as possible. He just seems so attuned to the feeling of needing a wee now, and so far so good! I think with girls you can do that "lifting" thing, like a dream wee, or something, before you go to bed, just lift them and put them on the loo in their sleep, but not sure if it would work so well with a little willy in the equation.....

Had a good weekend, DH has deffo had enough by the time Sunday night rolls around though, two very whingy boys this afternoon, they were so tired. Went to my parents for a cuppa late this afternoon and DS1 had a complete melt down about something random, which is not uncommon, for me anyway, but DH and my parents were like "WTF??" I see it everyday and was completely unfazed, so at least they now see what I am dealing with, although to be honest it really doen's tbother me anymore, I just shut him in the other room till he had calmed down and then got him to do what I wanted. Gold star to me.

KZ, congrats on Roshi's first word, how exciting, clever girl.

have now been told by parents and DH that Toby eats too much and I should watch him for excessive weight gain. Which I think is ridiculous as I do not over feed him, he just likes his grub! Here's a couple of pics, one is a rudie nudie shot which I will remove from the site tomorrow. What do you think?

Speak soon, hi to everyone.

Bloss

kayzed-good on Roshi saying wower. So, so cute

Bloss-came over all emotional looking at pics of Toby. He is gorgeous. DH thinks I am getting broody-think he may be right How old is DS1 as me and my friends are struggling to get our DC1's dry at night. Have heard that lifting is not recommended nowadays as you are emptying their bladder without them feeling it first IYSWIM. DD1 does wee in her potty but only in the morning and really she should be using the toilet then. Her nappies are heavy in a morning and I don't give her juice after 5pm so she only has milk.

mae-pleased you had a good night. A well deserved break.

Ceebee-excellent weight loss. Well done! Going to have a 4 point Twirl as it won't make a jot of difference as I seemed to have ballooned this week. Have bought another journal off Ebay so determined to stick with it.

First-your ISketch attempt sounds like mine-tee hee

Still have a rotten sore throat and have a mild migraine so off to bed. Sophie woke at 4am last night-doh!

he still isnt interested in solids, will chew on finger food but loses interest soon!

better get off pc, need to clean and settle in a nice warm bath with my book

Bloss, Toby is a v.scrummy,, and I am sure it's a good thing that he has a healthy appetite. Rather that , then having a real battle to try and get them to eat. A bit like it has been with Jazz really.

However, saying that this weekend she seems to have made a break through, and is eating rather well. Tell me what you think:

Brekkie- 1 1/2 tablespoons of porridge with honey.

Lunch- 2+ tablespoons of savory food

Dinner- 2+ tablespoons of savory food, or finger food (whatever's going)

Snax wise, she doesn't have many, but might have an organic rice cake/breadstick/cucumber to chew on.

We spent 2 hrs in minor injuries on saturday afternoon. Dh was hogging the bed in the night and I needed space to feed Jazz. So I tapped him on the shoulder and motioned for him to move over. Unfortunatly when I did I caught his eye with my fingernail and put a great scratch across his pupil.

Apparently it was very painful. He almost lost all vision in that eye (tho it has returned now) and he was having very bad headaches due to the light sensitivity. He spent the rest of the weekend wearing dark glasses. And feeling quite sorry for himself.

Oh and my weight loss was a big fat 0 this week. Over indulged a bit me thinks. Never mind, just have to try harder this week.

Sorry I havent had time to catch up on all your posts. Hope you are all well.

Bye for now

usandnosleep · 19/02/2007 08:47

KZ- I think it sounds very romantic But have to say I too would love to know the rest of the story

Hi Soph

Wallace- Hope Leo is on the mend? I too enjoy ISketch although haven't played for a while.

F@F- Bless Emma it does sound like an allergy doesn't it? Zack is very rarely sick so like you I'd know when there was something wrong.

Skay- Well done Kavya! I bet she feels really proud of herself when she is stood up!

Twinkle- sorry I'm rubbish with anything to do with the PC so I can't help you there. Well done Aidan! Couldn't you just burst with pride?

Kosh- well done Jake! No stopping him now

Ceebee- I'm going to start speech training immediately

Kbaby- It's great being the favourite isn't it? Ooh are you going to have a third?

Mae- Glad you had a good night out. We are out tomorrow night for dp's birthday (32) Typically though the last few nights Zack hasn't settled well in the evening so have a bad feeling about it.

Bloss- Toby looks scrummy, I bet he gives the best cuddles.

HC- Another broody one! Hope you're feeling better? You seem to have been under the weather for ages?

Pink- It sounds like Jazz is doing well. Not sure if I'm remembering right but I think I was told not to give honey until 1 year. Can't remember why and like I say I may be completely wrong!
Bless your DH, if I had done that I would have had a fit of the giggles and DP would have milked the situation for all it was worth!

All ok with us except Zack is still waking 2/3/4 times a night.

he's awake better be off
