Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

faf- i was thinking of doing that but then if he didnt drink it all I wouldnt know how much medicine he had actually taken.

FirstAtForty · 13/02/2007 22:26

kaby - think it's not too bad if you keep the overall volume small (and well mixed), maybe just 2oz fluid per dose of Calpol - then if he drinks half of it you know he's had half a dose or whatever.

Twinklemegan · 13/02/2007 22:43

CB - Aidan's the same as Josh before bathtime and then calms down into sleep mode. I guess the bedtime routine must be working. But then he's been waking up really crying around 9.30 or 10ish - he'll take a couple of sucks from a bottle then realise he's not hungry. Sometimes it's been taking an hour or two to settle him again. It's just not like him at all. Calpol seems to work to a point but I'm not convinced it's not just coincidence tbh.

I've just realised today how well he can sit. I've been reading all your posts about sitting up with envy since Aidan was doing so well but seemed to stall. But I tried him sitting up with his shape sorter to play with (not posting shapes through but he enjoys picking them out of through the top of the box). And he sat for ages - think it helped to have something in front of him to focus on and not keep turning round to look at things. I was soo proud of him lol!

Sorry to hear your DS isn't well Kbaby.

F@F - well done to Emma for rolling! Aidan spent ages nearly going onto his front before finally doing it so maybe the nursery isn't just sparing your feelings?

I'm liking the sound of this supermarket website - will have to give that one a look.

KoshkaAndJake · 14/02/2007 00:11

Hello all!

Skay - sorry to hear youve had a bad week up north. x

Well done to your rolling babes!

Went to the meal with my boss and my 'team', it was alright, but not fun like I would have with my real friends.

Jake has a tooth coming through, which explains why he didn't sleep last night, my mum gave him some tea from her mug (grrr) and heard a clinking!
So he is dosed with some calpol and some milk.

Jake rolls over quite a lot now. I can't stop him and he is a stealth paper finder.

I feel so low at the moment and I dont know why. I think i am just tired, i am getting these weird headaches that make my left eye feel droopy and my right feel twitcy.

GP (not my usual one shes on hols -how dare she- i just needed a sick note continuation) said take paracetamol...duurrrrr

Used to have headaches a lot when i was a kid and had scans and stuff probaby makes themthink im a hypochondriac...which i am...most of the time.

Any way, Jakes just gone down to sleep so i can get on with washing bottles and maybe some time around two when I have tidied enough i can go to bed!

night x

just another quick one.

happy birthday pink

We are all ill again (still!) A horrible fluey cough thing. Leo won't be put down for more than a couple of mins, and I have a really sore wrist (don't know what I did to it) so I can't even do anything one-handed. Dh is away at the moment, and tp make things even worse we are getting a new kitchen in at the mo, so the house is chaos. Did have the best nights sleep for ages - Leo went to sleep at 7ish and was only up at 12:30, 4:30 and woke at 6. He spends all night in bed with us now. more room when dh away!

maewest · 14/02/2007 07:46

Sorry to hear that you all have lurgy Wallace. Crossed fingers that our plague house status is lifting, think we're both feeling a lot better. I thought that DS was making some interesting new noises, but then I realised that he was just a bit hoarse .

Happy Valentines day ladies xx

prettymum · 14/02/2007 11:29

happy valentines day ladies!!

kbaby- ds does have really bad dry cheeks ar the moment, im using aqueous cream does sort of work, but also use dooublebase which i use for dds eczema.

juniors teething so badly and its really frustrating me too! he still isnt into solids and he's not even drinking his milk properly!

iv decided to start control crying at bedtime as he wakes 30 mins after settling at 8pm and wont go back down till 10-10.30pm. used it on dd and it worked.

i started last night and it took 1 hr to get him to sleep after a lot of screaming! but he was more settled throughout the night and woke just before 8am with 1 dreamfeed.

junior crying again, better go

AnnieOleTing · 14/02/2007 13:14

Happy Valentines All!

Got a lovely box of chocs and a bottle of bubbly, delivered by DS in his toy truck. I got DH a pair of Hugo Boss boxers, so we'll see what effect they have later...

Kayley has taken to screaming Dada at a very high pitch. Delightful at first, but then goes right through you! If she was saying Mama it would be different mind...

Sorry to hear all of you being ill. Everyone here at work is ill too, so I guess it's only a matter of time...

Skay, sorry to hear of your bad week.

Happy birthday for Monday Pink.

Koshka, sorry to hear you're feeling down. You still manage to sound cheerful though!

Best go, lots of work to pretend to do...

Annie

mistypeaks · 14/02/2007 13:28

Hello ladies - remember me?!!? Probably not -It all went a bit wrong for a while, but we're back on track ( I think) Anyway hope you're all well. dd2 is rolling like a maniac, loves sitting up and just adores her big sister (and the feeling thankfully is mutual) anyway gonna go catch some zzzzs (I'm back at work - on the nightshift. In laws have girls on Wed pm so I catch up a bit!!)

IamBlossom · 14/02/2007 14:32

welcome back Misty!

Happy Valentines girls.

Getting a card later apparently. Romance is not dead then.

KBaby, we are looking at areas around Aberystwyth, any suggestions? I am not so sure, as I reckon I only stay in control due to the legion of family and friends and friends with kids I have around here, so am reluctant to give that all up, but DH is very very keen, like within the year keen - sigh.....closer than Australia I guess....

Toby is doing the shaky head thing too....I am going to watch what I feed him now, as i think I may overfeed him. he will drink 24-28 ozs milk in a 24 hour period plus a Weetabix for Brekkie (he loves them KZ!!) bowl of veg/jar plus 2 x petit filous or baby rice with fruit for lunch, same again for tea. That's loads isnt't it? He is a big boy, but not bloated looking at all...

Hapy Birthday for Monday Pink!!

xx

skay · 14/02/2007 15:35

Hi girls,

Sorry for my meager post yesterday. But you do deserve an explaination.

Further info on my post of 1/2/07. My FIL passed away a few days later. So have been "Up North " with my MIL. She's coping but has come down with some sort of Viral Infection.
Got back late Monday to a freeezzzing cold house (Heating broken down). Tried to make sure kids went to bed early, not easy since both of them fell asleep in the car.
DS slept with his socks on and Kavya had two babygros on and three blankets. Must have kept them warm coz they didn't stirr until morning!

Any way will go now, will try to make my next post more cheerful.

SK

HumphreysCorner · 14/02/2007 19:49

Happy Valentines Day girls

skay-I was afraid you were going to say FIL had sadly passed away. Offering you my condolences.

Wallace-you have described what is wrong with me and my wrists are sore. Had sore wrists a few months back and the Dr said it was a viral thing and gave me Ibuprofen. Was also run down then as I am now. Have bought cough medecine and lots of vitamins as I am fed up of being ill. Hope you all feel better soon.

Welcome back misty-is everything all right hun?

Kosh-you have been signed off again haven't you. The eye twitching is part of your anxiety/stress. Have your anti d's 'lifted' you yet-I know it takes a while especially with a little one to look after. Hugs to you.

Sophie woke me at 4am with her barking and then I couldn't get back to sleep due to my coughing.

DH moaned about his tea-gggrrrrhhh! Told him I don't feel like cooking as I feel to poorly so did a small salad. I did get some flowers but no card so 1 out of 2 isn't bad.

Going to settle down and watch The Brits. Hugs to all.

Morning all

I have written really long messages twice over the last week and lost them both

We are all fine no horrible bugs so far (fingers crossed) I hope all of you feeling poorly pick up soon- as if taking care of children isn't hard enough.

{{hugs}} Skay, so sorry to hear your news.

Chin up Kosh, you have been through a lot and you're coping brilliantly. Keep going and the fog will begin to lift x

I have been soooo busy, working form home seemed such a great opportunity but it is EXHAUSTING. Getting anything done during the day is an absolute nightmare so I'm working in the evenings, the late nights are taking their toll.
I'm forever juggling housework, work and babies. Zack obviously comes out on top and work are waiting on my information so I'm afraid it's the housework that slides. DP has suggested a cleaner- RESULT!
It must be bad for him to suggest spending money though

Sleep is still something we don't talk about in this house without a scowl! The last 2 nights Zack has gone down at 8 and woken at 11.30ish, 3ish and 6ish getting up at 8 so that is a bit better but on past performance I'm prone to believe this won't last!

On the plus note Zack has started crawling properly, he looks ever so cute! He is so dinky (my sis says it looks abnormal!!) and I just love the way his little bottom wiggles as he goes!
Mind you in the last couple of days he has been at the plug socket and touched a hot radiator so I now definitley can't leave him for second.

Weaning is good, he actually gets excited and moans with frustartion as I'm getting his meals ready. He isn't eating a huge range of foods, sweet potato, carrot, parsnip, rice pudding, toast, bread, fruit and rice.
I'm going to try chicken tonight. He can't stand yoghurt, banana, fruit without rice, jarred food or pasta.

Welcome back Misty, it sounds like you have been having a rough time x

Congratulations to Emma for her roll and Aidan on sitting xx

Good news girls! DP proposed last night After 12 years who would have thought hey?! He says he feels ready now and it feels right Nothing like taking your time and not rushing into something is there
So it's wedding bells for me too. We are going to work out over the next couple of days what kind of day we want and then decide whether we book for this year or next.

Zack stirring so better be off, if this message goes AWOL I'm going to be extremely peed off. Ah I'll copy and paste just in case! (I'm quick me)

maewest · 15/02/2007 08:08

Morning us - nice to hear from you and congratulations on your engagement . Fingers crossed that things really are settling down sleepwise, maybe the crawling will knacker him out?

maewest · 15/02/2007 08:08

Sorry to hear your sad news skay

usandnosleep · 15/02/2007 08:25

Hi Mae- he's hoping! He's still in bed now so maybe you're right?! Last night we were throwing wrapping paper back and forth because we love watching him crawl, maybe we should do that again tonight

Ceebee74 · 15/02/2007 09:10

Skay - so sorry to hear your news

Us - congratulations - was it a romantic proposal with a ring - and what is the ring like?

I got nothing but a dh feeling sorry for himself last night! he has got 'manflu' so was being very pathetic - and not getting much sympathy from me.

Josh 'made' a heart-shaped biscuit at nursery yesterday - bless! it was yummy

Us - wow - can't believe your lo is crawling properly - Josh is crawling on his tummy (very fast) but not on all fours. he found the wine rack the other day, pulled out a bottle of wine (don't know who he gets that from ) and started playing with it on the floor - it kept him entertained for a while anyway!
Is Zack sitting up as I think Josh has just decided to miss that bit out all together - he is still not at all interested in sitting - just throws himself backwards, rolls over and crawls off.

Anyway, must go - another 'exciting' day at work

pinkdolly · 15/02/2007 09:22

Skay- sorry to hear about your FIL, hugs to you all.

Us- Congrats on your engagement! and on Zack crawling! Wow, Jazz cant even sit up unaided yet.

thanx for all your birthday messages.

I have had 2 3-course meals this week so am gonna have to work hard if I wanna lose my 2 pounds.

I've got to take Jazz down for her pneumonia(sp) injections at 10:30. Am dreading it coz I usually send DH but he is working days at the moment...oh well, the things us mummy's have to do.

Ok am going to give Jazz some sitting practice before we have to go out.

c u later!

HumphreysCorner · 15/02/2007 10:19

Morning ladies

Have the biggest spot on my chin this morning to add to my list of ailments. Bought DD1 some chewy Omega3 Fish Oil Vitamins to take as we don't eat fish as me & DH don't like it so I can't bear to cook it. Anyway, she took one bite and said yuk and spat it out. Bought 2 boxes as well Have split 2 open and squeezed the insides into her juice so here's hoping she won't notice.

us-congratulations on your engagement What ring will you have? Brill that Zack is crawling-you will be rushing around a lot more now DD1 crawled 1 day before 8 months old so Sophie should crawl on the 26 Feb-er, not likely-she is far too happy sitting on her gym mat.

pink-hope Jazz's jabs go OK. I find jabs traumatic and it isn't me that is having them.

Ceebee-sounds like Josh won't be far behind Zack. It's nice when they make things for you at nursery-gives you a warm glow. Ignore your DH-am dreading my DH catching what I have got as he will retire to bed, I just know it!

Must go and iron my sheets. Have a good day girls.

Thanks girls
Well he was on two knees not one because he was holding Zack! The proposal followed a really lovely soppy speech about our lives together so far- aahhhh! It was really special with the 3 of us there. He had planned to do it over our meal but the moment was right. I have a big fat diamond ring
It's my 30th this summer and Zack's 1st birthday so I think it would be quite nice to do it around then but it depends if it will be possible to organise in that time.

Zack sits alone but not well enough for me to leave him without being surrounded by cushions and he ALWAYS falls forward and therefore misses the cushions!
And yes he is already running me ragged! On the plus side he is happier occupying himself for much longer unfortunately he tends to do this by finding things he shouldn't

Oh and I too have a massive spot on my chin, quite gross I actually had to squeeze it this morning. TMI?

FirstAtForty · 15/02/2007 14:10

CONGRATULATIONS Usandbump!!! What a lovely story! When is your birthday?

Beadmum · 15/02/2007 14:43

afternoon ladies

us - congrats on your engagement, your dp sounds very romantic

hc - hope you feeling better soon

pink - how did the jabs go?

skay - sorry to hear your sad news

hope all others who are ill are better soon too

well, pil decided to visit us on sunday as theyd realised they hadnt seen charlotte for 3 weeks, i was quite sarcastic when they came in 'do you remember who this is charlotte' but they just ignored me . Dont get me wrong id happily go for months without seeing them but was just annoyed for charlottes sake, surely they should make more of an effort to see her. Im going to stop thinking about them as they just seem to wind me up, sure some of you know that feeling

charlotte is sitting quite well now but still in her inflatable ring or with cushions as she tends to go over if she loses concentration or is getting frustated with a toy trying to get her on her tummy more but she is still not very keen on tummy time so who knows when she will crawl, great others are though, havent our babies changed so much in the past month or so?

weaning is going ok, dd always seems really impatient with her breakfast, i cant feed her fast enough. I give her ready brek with fruit first then her bottle, is it best to give her a bottle then food? what does everyone else do?
shes not like this with her lunch and takes her time or stops after 4/5 spoons, she seems to hate little stars yohurts even after 7 trys (got them on 2 packs for £2 offer ) but gave her plain yogurt with fruit and she loves it.
Also has anyone been trying lumpy food yet? I tried a couple of lunchtimes but it just made her keep lips tightly closed once she tasted it, do you just persevere or is this too young anyway (shes 7 months now)?

sorry for all the questions, this weaning lark is just so confusing.

Charlotte is still sleeping so off to make myself a cup of tea, you never know I might even get to finish it before she wakes up for a change

bye for now xx

usandnosleep · 15/02/2007 17:01

Thank you F@F, my birthday is July 8th. I'm trying to embrace the thought of my thirties!

Thanks Beadmum DP can be a real softie!
The first meal Zack really ate and enjoyed was breakfast, after a few weeks it was tea and then finally lunch. Zack has milk in the night so I give him cereal when he wakes for the day. He then has milk mid-morning and mid-afternoon, after tea and before bed.
It took me a while to find what suited him though. I'm not sure how old your LO is? Zack is 7 months tomorrow
Hope you managed to drink you tea!
