Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

Morning girls

Haven't posted for ages.Have been sooo busy with stuff to do for the wedding etc.

Eilidh was much better after the bronchilitis but was ok for only a few days. Was unwell for a few days again and has developed a secondary infection and a rash so not too happy atm.

Life is so much easier/better now that dd1 goes to bed at 7pm each night.Makes her a much nicer wee girl during the day too.

My diet is going well.Have lost a total of 2st 5lbs so far.I ocassionally get fed up but i am so much more confident and happier than i have been for years. One of my friends makes comments and says my weight loss is all due to me still bf Eilidh.I reckon she's jealous but do get fed up hearing it at every class weigh in.

Weaning not even started, gave her purees 2x and think because she wasn't well she projectile vomited it all back up.Am going to wait till middle of next week and see how she goes.

Anyone else think it seems quieter without KZ?

Have a good Sunday all

Evening - hope you all had good weekends.

Kbaby - Josh is having about 25-30oz milk a day but only eating 2 'meals' of half a yoghurt pot each on a good day (it is usually less food than that).

Agalch - what a fantastic weight loss - did you do WW or SLimming world or do it yourself?

IamBlossom · 11/02/2007 19:52

Algach, ruddy good going, you should be very proud of yourself...

I too have another cold, second since Chrimble, and I NEVER get colds....grrrr..

Very very tired today, boys were up and down like a tart's knickers all night last night - we went out for dinner with friends which was great, but my MIL who babysat let DS1 come downstairs for a couple of hours (which I NEVER do) so he kept getting up all night asking for nanny and to go downstairs. Toby also woke up three times for milk which he hasn't done for months.....going to bed in a minute, my DH has just made me fishcakes which were totally divine, and cleared up the kitchen. Making up for sleeping in till 9am while I was downstairs with the kids having been up all night....

Have great holiday Lysettes.

Anyone ever lived in Wales? Thinking about looking at houses there....

can I give Weetabix to Toby yet?

Bloss

Hi all, DS and I are sharing a cold, bleugh. I went out on Friday night and felt really guilty because DS woke up loads (did take a bottle tho) and then didn't really sleep at all. I was hanging on Saturday morning . Still glad I went out, and DH was really sweet on Saturday, took the boy out in the buggy for a couple of hours while I caught up on some sleep and had a shower. He's even been doing some housework .

Then last night looked like going the same way so we gave in and brought DS into bed with us. Slept surprisingly well, from 10.30pm until about 7am (with a slight break at about 1am when I mistakenly tried to sneak DS back into his cot, he was NOT having any of it). Think the poor boy is feeling a bit congested, doesn't seem to bother him too much during the day, but nightime is a different matter. Have already had to settle him once tonight since bedtime, ho hum. Also had an incident with some Karvol, trying to get the little capsule thingie open and managed to squirt most of it down my cleavage . Oh well, might help DS be less blocked up when feeding...

HumphreysCorner · 11/02/2007 20:45

agalch-v. well done girl. 33lb is my target loss and I'm only 7lb into it. Fab, fab, fab-you will be a beautiful bride. Ignore your friend, BF Sophie made me lose some weight but then I stuck so am only losing the weight by dieting now like you. Hope Elidh feels better soon.

Bloss-MIL ggggrrrrhhhh!!!! That is exactly what mine would do-infact, when they babysat in December they kept DD1 up for hours! Mine was supposed to be coming round this afternoon so was moody at the thought and she never turned up! Sophie has Weetabix one day and Ready Brek the next all mixed with semi skimmed milk. Thinking I should be mixing it with full fat milk Hugs to you and damn that cold!

Ceebee-at least you know why you haven't lost and you haven't put on which is always good news.

kayzed-are you home soon? Find it hard to keep track of time nowadays. Hope all is well with Roshi tomorrow.

Still feeling crap and struggling to swallow. Did turkey for tea and ate a Christmas Pudding up so had some crackers too which was fun.

Love to all.

morning all

lysette have a lovely holiday!!

agalch- well done!! i which i could have the motivation to lose a bit of weight! i just love my food to much- currently im obsessed with subways!

bloss- my dp does what your mil did! thats why i like to be in control of bedtime as dp doesnt like hearing kids crying so gets them in the living room to watch telly! i always worry when i go out that he doesnt do it properly!

well junior here is still refusing solid food! he just clamps his mouth shut and slaps away food and he wont chew on finger food for long either, but he does seem to be putting on weight anyway

i better get off, have the whole bloody flat to clean!

Kayzed - glad the surgeon was able to put your mind at rest re the lump. I guess that's more or less what my GP said as well. Hormonal fluctuations eh - well that might explain why Emma is Miss Moodswing!

Re the Weetabix, it was suggested by my HV so must be fine. I've heard the thing about the poo though so have only tried Ready Brek so far. She tends to get a bit constipated anyway so I've been giving her watered down prune juice in her bottle, and chopped up prunes in her porridge!

lol at tart's knickers too Bloss!

We had two blissful nights of uninterrupted sleep on Fri and Sat, but she was up three times again last night - actually makes it worse I think when you think you've cracked it, only to have all hope cruelly snatched away again [grrrr]

Hope everyone's nasty bugs are getting better. xx

Morning Ladies
Miserable rainy weather today. Boo.
Poor K has been trying to poo for two days. Just got a text from DH saying she has finally delivered! Yaay!
I don't know why she gets so constipated, as she doesn't eat much. She likes to gnaw on toast or tea-cakes, but never actually eats any. Am also a follower of MLW!

Pretty, your junior sounds just like K for eating. She's definitely putting on weight too though, so I'm not worried either. It is lovely when they play together, just have to watch out for DS trying to either sit on her or throw a train at her head! But he knows now that it's wrong, cos he runs straight to his naughty corner... finds it very funny. He's probably too young yet for a naughty corner really.

KZ good news about Roshi, at least for now. Hopefully it will sort itself out. She's one brave little girl.

HC, Mae, and Bloss, hope your colds are getting better. Your DH's are doing a nice job of looking after ye!!

Right well best look busy for another while. Would like to sneak off early today to buy Valentine's cards/gifts/booze. Hmmm

Annie

kbaby · 12/02/2007 21:38

Algach ? who cares if its bf that?s making you lose the weight as long as youre losing it that?s all that matters. Im going to become a wet nurse next time I need to diet anyway

Hmm maybe ive been giving him too much solids, he just seems to prefer it over his milk. Ill cut it down over the next few days.

Hes not well at the mo. Hes had a temp of 38-39c since last night. The gp said it?s a virus and he cools down once the calpol kicks in but once it starts to wear off he burns back up again. Im too frightened to sleep so have just been dozing next to him.
Iamblos- I live in wales just by Cardiff. Where you looking at?

Twinklemegan · 12/02/2007 21:47

Hi people, just checking in briefly. I haven't really had anything to say recently, which is pretty unusual for me . The good news is Aidan started rolling from his back to his tummy last week - the bad news is he does it in his cot every time I put him down for a nap then screams the place down! He's started waking in the late evening as well - he seems generally much more unsettled. I'm sure it must be down to teething, but he seems to have been teething for months now with nothing to show for it. Anyone else experiencing this?

Good to hear from you KZ - poor Roshi, she's really going through it. Glad to hear there's nothing to worry about though.

pinkdolly · 13/02/2007 08:00

Hi guys,

I had a great birthday yesterday (26). my cheesecake was soo worth waiting for. BTW- if anyone is interested in the recipe c my thread in "food".

So I blew the diet completly yesterday, whoops! Never mind, if you cant let your hair down on your birthday, when can you?...

That reminds me, I had one too many glasses of wine last night (4 in fact) and I never drink, and I never planned too. Do you think Jazz will be ok? I feel really bad coz I never expressed or anything.

She seems on top form this morning, so figure she must be ok.

Well, I'll check in again later on.

bye

Ceebee74 · 13/02/2007 08:38

Pink - Happy Birthday for yesterday - will be popping to the food thread asap for that recipe - it sounded so yummy!!

Kbaby - lol at wet nurse idea Wouldn't work for me though as I couldn't produce milk for Josh, let alone anyone else!

Twinkle - Josh is starting to get grumpier in the evenings aswell - I have just put it down to tiredness as he is showing no signs of any teeth either. From about 5pm, he just whinges constantly until bathtime (6.15ish) and then he is ok - presumably because he knows bedtime follows?? He goes to sleep quickly and then stays soundly asleep so I do think he is just tired. But I know this sounds selfish, but I am reluctant to bring his bath/bedtime forward as that might mean earlier mornings

Going to a MN meetup with 2 other Mners today - looking forward to it but must choose something healthy off the menu!

FirstAtForty · 13/02/2007 09:39

Morning girls

Happy birthday for yesterday Pink! (Sorry forgot to say it yesterday, brain missing as usual). Glad the cake lived up to expectations and that you managed to enjoy a few glasses!

Re the drinking question, I really wouldn?t worry. I noticed this link recently which was quite reassuring (I drink wine with my dinner every day):

kellymom bullet point 5

If anyone?s interested, there are more ?breastfeeding myth? links at the bottom of
This page

Twinkle ? not sure what Emma?s wakefulness is related to - she does have some very grumpy episodes during the evening which could be due to teething I guess, but who knows!! Still can?t feel anything beyond the hard gums which she has had for ages.

Ceebee ? don?t feel guilty about avoiding early mornings! It must be best to encourage sleeping within normal hours.

Kbaby ? hope DS is better today and you got some sleep last night

Well not in the office today (hurrah), got the excitement of the Tesco delivery to look forward to. Recently discovered the joys of mysupermarket.com which has cut down on pounding the aisles on my days off, it also seems to be cheaper (partly because I?m not impulse buying I suppose!) but you can choose who you get deliveries from according to which supermarket is cheapest for your shopping basket.

Have good days all xx

HumphreysCorner · 13/02/2007 09:45

Morning ladies

Couldn't get on MN last night-lately, it keeps crashing and aborting. Grrrhhh!!!

pink-Happy B'Day for yesterday. How can you only be 26? I drank a whole bottle of Blossom Hill on New Years Eve-felt guilty but Sophie was absolutely fine.

kayzed-pleased to hear the lump isn't serious. Enjoy your last few days.

Twinkle-excellent news that Aidan is rolling. Sophie is nearly there so hoping she manages it by the end of the thread.

kbaby-lol at the wet nurse bit. Can't imagine them feeding other babies in the olden days. Hope DS feels better soon. Sophie has hardly any milk but I only give her half a jar of food so I can't cut that down any more. Tis so difficult to get the balance right.

I think I have laryngitis (sp?) so my voice has gone and it really hurts if I try to talk. Sophie woke up barking last night and struggling to breathe so the cycle of illness starts again-into its 4th week now.

Was talking to my SIL yesterday re DD1's constant hyper activity and she said that the son of a friend of hers was the same and the medics told him it was orange that was causing it. So he couldn't have Cheesy Wotsits or any orange drink (sugar free or ordinary). Think I may cut orange things out for a month to see if it stops her climbing walls so to speak.

Meant to say that on Sunday Sophie started to shake her head so it looks like she is saying no all the time. I had forgotten that babies do this so it did make me

Going to make another drink before my throat splits open with dryness.

Toodle pip.

HC - well done on the weight loss - isn't it a lovely feeling when you get on the scales and it has gone down

Glad you mentioned about the head-shaking - Josh has just started doing it so am glad that it is a normal thing that babies do!

First - thanks for the tip about mysupermarket - am looking for anything that will save us money at the moment! With me going part-time and nursery fees, we are officially skint!

maewest · 13/02/2007 10:41

We're both feeling a bit better here. DS slept in his own bed all night. Very cheerful chappie when I went in to give him his morning feed at about 7 .

He is now regularly flipping over onto his side, usually when I'm trying to change his nappy. He will also do it to reach for toys when he's on the floor, but usually only when I'm out of the room. When I'm there he whinges for me to pick it up for him, lazy boy (or v smart, can't decide )

skay · 13/02/2007 14:19

Hello

Got back from "up North" yesterday. Tis been a very harrowing and emotional week.
DH is just on auto-pilot ATM.

Any way will post more later.

SK

HumphreysCorner · 13/02/2007 17:40

skay-how are things? Keep your chins up. Hugs to you all ((xx))

OP posts:
FirstAtForty · 13/02/2007 18:30

Skay - sorry to hear you've had a bad week

HC - hope your throat feels better soon, it's a horrible stage that isn't it when it hurts to swallow.

Ceebee - I've definitely saved cash with mysupermarket.com - it keeps prompting you to make further savings by comparing items in your basket with better bargains! It takes a while to set up your first basket, but worth it as you can just adjust it a bit each week from then on. It's worth keeping your old supermarket till receipts beside you as you order, so you don't forget certain things.

Well big news from here is - she has finally rolled - three times!! From front to back, presumably to escape from evil tummy time which she hates. (I don't REALLY know if today was the first time though - when I mentioned the lack of rolling to the girls at nursery and said she didn't seem interested they looked a bit surprised and said that she had very nearly done it a few times there (where they have a big padded bit of floor). Now I wonder if she had already rolled and they just didn't tell me to spare my feelings, bless them )

And another first today, she properly did a BLW manoevre, eating three quarters of a baby rice cake with her own fair hands, aaaw. Still messy though...

Have good nights all xx

kbaby · 13/02/2007 21:35

Prettymum- was it you whose DS had dry skin, if so what cream were you using aqua??
Ceebee- hope your meet up went ok.
Pinkdolly ? Happy Birthday for yesterday.

DS still isn?t much better today, his temp is still high without the calpol. Trying to give it to him is a nightmare as he clamps his lips so tight it?s a 2 people job to prise his mouth open. Weve tried it on a spoon but he just KNOWS that its calpol and still wont open.
He slept a little better last night. I stayed up until 1am with him(well actually fell asleep but technically I was still up) and then he woke at 3am which DH dealt with.

HC ? that?s the prob were getting, really hes not having that much solids either, I guess about half a jar full but has cut back so much on his milk. Hes scraping in at 16ozs but that includes a night feed. DD was having much more solids and still drunk her milk. Re your DD ? mine is exactly the same, she was always hyper as a baby and has continued. Rarely sits still and if shes doing something it always involves whizzing about or dancing while doing it. I wish I had her energy. I actually thought she may have been hyperactive but was told no shes just active and lively. If shes in a hyper mood she talks so fast you cant understand a word.
Faf- well done on the rolling and the rice cake.
When I ring my mum to say DS did xyz she always says ?well actually he did it Sunday but I didn?t want to tell you? im just happy that hes done it regardless of where or who with.

FirstAtForty · 13/02/2007 22:11

Kbaby - I can only get Emma to take Calpol when it's dissolved in water (about 2oz) and in a bottle. Sometimes she will only drink this with a bit of Gripe Water added as well though as she loves Gripe Water! Or can you add it to whatever else his favourite drink is? Hope he's better soon xx
