Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

Kbaby - I'm so sorry about your cat. It happened to us a few years back and it's heartbreaking. Try to console yourself if you can by knowing that you did the very best for her that you could have done. (((hugs))) to you all. xx

Just a quickie to say glad Eilidh is feeling better Algach and I too used your method for getting Clapol into Toby and it worked a treat.

KBaby - so so so sorry to hear about your puddy tat, I got tears in my eyes, you sounded so very heartbroken you poor poor thing, it is rotten to lose a loved pet, lots of love to you and your family sweetheart.

Post more later when DH isn't looking over my shoulder saying "what are you typing??"

aww, don't feel flat honey.

Toby was doing tht back arching thing too, and I was worried about milk intake, was giving him his bottles while he was just pre nap so he was sleepy enough to take them, but all of a sudden he is back to full milk drinking capacity....give it some time, i do think it is teeth....

kbaby- so sorry to hear about your cat {{{{{{hugs}}}}} to you and your family

kz- hello! hope roshi gets over the teething soon, it is frustrating and worrying when they refuse to eat or drink

Lysettes · 26/01/2007 09:53

kbaby you poor thing i'm so about your cat

KZ thanks for the tips - we got a really great rate at the oriental and they are being amazing already, which is wonderful!

jacob is being a bit more tough with food now - we have red cheeks and crying from 5-6pm, so at least we are pretty certain it's teeth. poor little man - calpol works in the end but it still takes some time!

AnnieOleTing · 26/01/2007 11:24

Morning ladies

Kbaby so about your kitty. {{HUGS}}

Lysettes I was in Singapore many years ago, just for a few days, it was fantastic. VERY clean! I don't know what you were asking about, as I can't keep up with all the posts, but if you get a chance, (though I don't know if it's that easy with a LO) get to the hawker market, and get some street food, fantastic, 40 times better than camden. And the fresh fruit juices. Mmmm. Little India is also brilliant for little authentic local restaurants, where you eat with your hands and chat to the locals... Can be a bit scary though, if you are pale like me, they really stare at you!!

Haven't really read through the rest, but I hope the poorly LO's are getting better, and those of you back at work are coping ok.
I got in this morning to discover everyone is at a conference in Cambridge, so all I've been doing is MSNing home and MNing!! My babies are gone out for a walk now, so I have nothing at all to do!! Dearie me, and they pay me for this...

Kayley seems to have picked up a bit of a cold again. Can't get any calpol into her though, does anyone know if it's ok to put a spoonful in her milk? She's sitting really well, and gets from her back to her belly quite well, and makes moves to crawl but hasn't actually gone anywhere yet. Weaing is still rubbish, she'll grab our food and make all the chewing moves but put anything in her mouth and it's raspberried back out.
Keep on going, keep on going...

No teeth yet.

Another annoying thing: the BCG vaccine. Have you had it done? DS has it, but we've moved boroughs now, and so K doesn't qualify, as we are in a more 'affluent' area, yet down the road, the babies all get it as they are not so affluent? What if we go abroad? It's really annoying. If I was from a country where it's prevalent, she could have it, but if we travel to a country where it's prevalent now, she'll be be prone to it, cos of where we live!? Does that make sense? Stupid NHS government rubbish whatever it is...

Anyway, I'd say I'd better go and do some work, but I don't have any to do...

Have a good day everyone. Sorry for the long drawn out rambling... (well stop then...)

Annie

frenchleave · 26/01/2007 12:28

Oh kbaby, how about your cat (((hugs)))

Algach - glad Eilidh is feeling better.

Annie - the BCG is an issue here in France too. In theory it's compulsory before your child starts school or nursery, but now the govt has decided to offer only the old-fashioned (and supposedly more reliable) intra-muscular jab which hurts like hell and can leave horrible scars. It's so awful that most GPs and paediatricians are refusing to give it, and instead writing fake medical notes to say that their child cannot have the jab. Anyway, my mother asked at their surgery in the UK and was told that we could have the other type (the one we probably all had at school) there, if we paid. Maybe you could do the same?

No teeth here either. No solids yet either , though we have now bought a highchair so we're getting prepared. T isn't that interested, frankly, apart from the odd chunk of pear and cucumber, which can keep him occupied for ages, not that he actually eats them or anything. Planning to make a few purees this weekend for him to spit out next week.

Have a good afternoon/weekend ladies

sunita123 · 26/01/2007 15:22

Afternoon Ladies,
Haven't posted for a while so "Happy New Year to All of you!!!"

Well over the New Year MIL decided to sit Kavya on the floor on her playmat with her toys. She sat for a whole three minutes before toppling over. I was soooo Proud of her. She's been able to sit on the floor since (If put in a sitting position).

She has also started to crawl. And as far as weaning goes, she likes banana yoghurt, apple puree, and apple and pear pudding. She spits out anything else or clenches her lips together. She does like to eat anything we are having though. Were having Fajitas the other night and she was quite happliy rolling bits of the tortilla around in her mouth. She seemed to like it.(Haven't given her anything spicy yet, there's plenty of time for that!)

Kbaby - Sorry to hear about your cat.

Aglach - Glad to hear that Eilidh is getting better. So about you getting into size 14's.

Sorry it's been so long between postings, will try to post more.

Suni

(May even post under a diffrent name)

skay · 26/01/2007 15:29

Hello ladies

Suni here, Decided to have a name change.

This one is actually my initals. DS1 first initial and of course "K" from Kavyas name.

agalch · 26/01/2007 16:09

Hi girls

Well Eilidh seems to be really on the mend,i got a whole 4 hours sleep last night, feel like a new woman this morning.

You would think someone would tell us the magic blowing in the face trick to get medicine into them wouldn't you?

Hi Suni, long time no see, this is the 1st time in my life i have ever been on a diet/eaten healthily so am very very happy to be in a size 14 jean.Tho if i wasn't getting married in April not sure if i would be doing quite so well lol.Having said that i only lost 1.5lbs,prob cos i have been sat on my ample bum for days with the dd's sat on me.Never mind will just carry on.

Prettymum i ordered the thigh trainer too from the same place as you.No point in me losing weight if i'm not toning up too.So thanks for that

Kbaby,don't know what to say.Poor you(((hugs)))

I have millions of stuf to do over the weekend as i have my Care Commission Inspection(gulp) on Monday. My playroom is a tip and i have paperwork to find and put together.

Anyhow thanks for all the nice things you all said when my wee ones were so sick, does help and much appreciated xxx

maewest · 26/01/2007 20:13

grrr - wrote a post earlier but somethngs went wrong and it got lost somehow. Anyhoo...

Hi sunita, great news about the sitting up, we have this inflatable playring thing for DS, to give him a soft landing when he leans too far one way.

algach - glad your girls are on the mend, and that you've had some sleep.

Have been making good progress with the sleep thing - DS took 2 naps in his cot today and went to sleep all by himself, have been using the 'dump and run' technique . Had to go back in and sit with him for a few minutes at bedtime, but then left him to it cuddling his cow, what a cutie. This weekend is also time for weaning, I have special spoons and everything.

currently waiting for FIL to arrive - he is lost somewhere in the suburbs of Bristol... and I am getting HUNGRY

kbaby · 26/01/2007 21:02

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Its surprising how such a little creature quickly becomes part of the family and leaves such a gap no longer here.

DS has been in a wonderful mood tonight, really giggly and funny. His favourite trick is to grab your hair with both hands and try to eat your face by frantically sucking any part of it he can. It means you get a face of dribble and snot but its lush He also loves being tickled around his neck and giggles so much.
I found out the mil trick of getting him to sleep for long naps. He puts him on her bed as she didn?t want the travel cot and has been covering him with a duvet! No wonder. I told her to cover him today with just a blanket and surprise surprise he woke after 30 mins. The problem is I want him to have decent naps but not be too warm but its trying to find the right balance.

Now do I even dare to tell you all, hmm.. ok I will curse myself but only because I am so pleased. DS only woke ONCE last night he went from 7.30pm to 2.30am and then 7am wey hey!!!! And its was even better because it was DH?s feed he woke for, which meant I didn?t even get out of bed

I need some help. Now DS is ok with the 1st tasters I want to introduce more varied food, I think theres only so much sweet potato and carrot he can take. Do you think its ok to start making small veg casseroles or adding cheese etc. Hes now 25 weeks.

Maewest- well done on his sleeping and good luck with the weaning. Its so much fun!

IamBlossom · 27/01/2007 12:47

morning gang. Free to post now, as DH is, yes you guessed it, fishing. Not peturbed, his loss. I took the boys out for a lovely walk in the sunny woods this morning, DS1 asleep now, and Toby is lying on the rug, stunned into immobility by an enormous bowl of sweet potatoe and a petit filous. Cor that kid can eat.

Despite thunder thighs he rolled over yesterday! Very exciting. He is so adorable at the moment, so happy, and giggly, and gorgeous.

Anyway, not much else to report. Have good weekends all.

Bloss

HumphreysCorner · 27/01/2007 19:55

Evening ladies

Couldn't get on MN last night as it kept blowing me out

Bloss-another roller-fab news. Sophie still hasn't rolled but when she is on her tummy she moves her knees in a crawl like movement so I think she is bypassing the rolling bit.

kbaby-only once, that is excellent.

maewest-good luck with the weaning.

skay-once Sophie mastered sitting for at least 3 minutes she soon learnt to sit unaided for ages.

agalch-only 1.5 lb That is loads! Glad things are much improved.

Have introduced Ready Brek to Sophie made with semi skimmed milk and she ate it. Just got to try Weetabix next. Have also changed the tins to the 7 month ones so whole pieces of pasta. Gave her a chicken and veg one and she hated it-kept spitting it out. She needs to get used to lumpier food but I hate to see her cry through her meal.

Going on our day out with the in-laws tomorrow so wish me luck. Got a smear test on Monday afternoon as it is more than 3 years since my last one and I need to go and see the vicar on Monday night then Sophie has a 7 month check up on Tuesday afternoon. Sooooo much to do and sooooo little time!

Love to all and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

xxx

P.S. Dreamt that one of you was PG again last night but I can't for the life of me remember who it was.

o bugger. Have just packed dd2's bag and my "work bag", in readiness for me to start work on monday. DD2 is, after 1 week of trying, not really interested in solids. Also not keen on bottles/beakers etc. Also still only sleeps on my lap or in the car/pram. I just know she is going to cry and cry

babalon · 27/01/2007 23:13

Hi all,
Kbaby sorry to hear about your cat they really do become part of the family And you will sleep through the night again as will maewest and the others you don't see mumsnet threads says ' help my 14 yr old dd won't sleep!!!

Does wallace post here still? I've replied to her on a health thread and it sounds like her ds has what Logan has had. Spent thurs night on childrens ward 'cause Logan had croup which only eased with steroids. I really didn't think it was and didn't realise how bad it can get I sometimes think I don't panic enough with my kids, Logan being my third and me a nurse I think I 'd rather over react in
future!

Anyone got any ideas what to do with the kids on these dull winter days? dd10 ds1 7 and little Logan I'm doing my nut in the house!

Sleep well all, speak soon

CakeandFineWine · 28/01/2007 13:42

Hi everyone - just a quickie

HC - weekly weigh-in - lost 3lbs (yippee) this week so now weigh 13st 13lbs - obviously great but it does mean that I now have to eat 2 points a day less as I am under 14 stone!

HumphreysCorner · 28/01/2007 21:34

Ceebee-that is brill, well done! Think I'm on for a Nil loss this week-think it is something to do with week 3 weigh ins as you stayed the same then. Will let you know tomorrow night. Re points-are you working the daily allowance out right as you only drop 1 point for each stone lost.

This is out of my Journal:

  1. Are you:

  1. How old are you?
16-20 Score 5 21-35 Score 4 36-50 Score 3 51-65 Score 2 Over 65 Score 1
  1. How many stones do you weigh?
Ignore the lbs, the number of stones is the answer to this question. Someone who weighs 12st 4lb will score 12.
  1. How tall are you?
Under 5ft 4ins Score 1 5ft 4ins or above Score 2
  1. In you main occupation are you:

Well done on weight loss all you clever people!

Leo is alot better today (thanks babalon) I probably under react too, must be third child syndrome. To be honest if I hadn't been on my own with three kids (dh working) I would maybe have popped him into the doctor on Sat night. But he was fine, but it was worrying at the time.

Everyone said look to see if his skin is pulling in under his ribcage, it was a bit but I am so used to seeing that because before she had her heart op, she breathed like that permanently (her rib cage is even a funny shape because of it) so to me it didn't look too bad!

Anyway, that is enough waffling, I will see how he is in the morning, and maybe take him back to doc. He had peiods today when he was fine, but then he would quickly become unhappy and huff and puff a bit. If he hadn't been given the inhaler for a wheeze I may just have treated it as a normal cold/virus/snotty thing, but I think the idea of a wheeze got me worried - I know how quickly breathing can get really bad IYSWIM

HumphreysCorner · 28/01/2007 21:58

madness-I feel so reading your post. Sending you hugs for tomorrow. Try not to worry as I'm sure DD2 will be just fine. ((xx))

CakeandFineWine-yummy name. Evie seems to be doing really well. Nice to hear from you and sorry to hear that work is crap-can't remember how many days you are doing?

Thought I was going to have to take Sophie down to the hospital after last night. She was barking everytime she breathed when she was lying down. I kept sitting up with her then as she kept yawning I put her down again only to have her barking and crying. So, spent the whole night running into her room to check she was still breathing. Think she must have a chest infection so will ask the Dr to check on Tuesday at her 7 month check-up.

Anyway, have survived our day out with the in-laws and enjoyed our visit to The Deep in Hull. With Sophie being poorly as soon as I passed her to MIL she cried so being brave I took her back as MIL said 'shall I walk round the house with her?' Yep, grabbed her real quick. Did hand her back for a 2nd try but she only wanted me When DD1 was born and I had to visit MIL every Monday I never dare take her off MIL when she cried and MIL used to wander round the house with her and I used to be dying inside but not this time

Crikey, waffling now so will say tada! Hugs to all.
