Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

tres windy here too Cee. I had to dial 999 to report a tree down across the road, all very exciting. Power cuts keep interrupting my Dr Phil viewing however, very irritating.. DS1 asleep, Toby sucking a toy at my feet....

Just spent a fortune on Amazon ordering books for DS1. I used the book club recommendations on MN, so excited about reading them with him. We read Peter Rabbit three times this morning, it's SO SWEET hearing him try to say Mr McGregor! He resorted to "that Giant" in the end, bless...

Afternoon all

I'm nervously watching the trees outside, we are surrounded by them. The wind makes me very nervous too.

Zack has been unwell but now seems to be on the mend thank goodness, bless him it's awful when they're poorly isn't it? You just want to be able to make them better again.

Had a weigh in at clinic on Tuesday and Zack is now 14lbs 4ozs. They are a bit concerned that he is gaining very slowly and I have to go back again in 2 weeks. He had text book gains for the first couple of months but it seems to be getting slower and slower with each clinic visit.
So it is just as well that he has started to accept solids again I'm having to mix everything with lots of baby rice and formula milk but as long as he takes it I don't care!

Sleep has also improved for the time being (notice my trepidation!) so I'm feeling a little more human

I hope things improve for those of you who are back at work, it must be really tough. Especially for those of you who aren't getting a lot of sleep {{hugs}}

I LOVE all the pics, beautiful babies and beautiful bumps. Some of the pics look really professional too

Best be off things to do whilst Zack is sleeping x

Lysettes · 18/01/2007 16:40

v windy here in west london too - we have scaffolding up at the moment so am rather worried.... couple of small trees down further down our street as well.

usandnosleep - jacob was 8 weeks early and is measured growth wise against corrected age - he's not much heavier than your LO, and our HV and doctors are happy with the weight - and the gain has slowed as well. may be just an over anxious HV tbh! A friend of mine has a DS born on May 1st - he piled on the weight to start off with and has really slowed recently - she says that he has fitted into some of his clothes for 3 months now - would have been unheard of a few months ago!

don't worry too much about the weight - as long as he is happy (and he has been unwell so his body will have been using calories to fight the illness rather than gaining weight) then he will continue as best suits him!

Beadmum · 18/01/2007 19:39

we had lots of snow this morning but it didnt last long, thank goodness. that wind is definitely the worst though, scary.

great pics everyone, lots of lovely babies and bumps

feel bad for all of you back at work, im not sure whether i want to go back and even if my work will let me do pt hours, keep thinking about it lately and getting stressed out, will have to make a decision soon though i guess

kz - have a good flight and thanks for the advice re carpel tunnel

koshka - i went to my first mother and baby group this week too, was a bit nervous but it was good, wish id gone to some ages ago now

well done to everyone who is losing weight, weighed myself on sat and i hadnt lost anything but at least i hadnt put any weight on as i hadnt exactly been good oh well, have been a bit better this week so we'll see at the weekend

weaning going well here, although as i found out the other day i cant give charlotte any of her bottle before food or she will not eat it so i keep the bottle out of sight until she has eaten. shes now on 2 ice cubes at lunchtime & will maybe add in tea or brekkie in next few days. shes had carrot, parsnip, sweet potato, courgette, pear and banana. not impressed with apple though, tried twice.

dh will be home from work soon so better get on with tea

have a good night ladies xx

HumphreysCorner · 18/01/2007 19:52

Evening all

Got home from having tea out and the house was in darkness-power cut so no heating or light. DD1 so tired and screamed for the light to be put on. Was just feeling for torches when thankfully the power came on. Stupid weather! Was just lighting the fire when DH came in and said I'll do that, you get my tea. GGGRRRRHHHH!

For the first time Sophie took one look at one of the waiters and yelled-didn't know why she was crying at first then he returned with our meals and I found out. DD1 was dreadful at crying at people-she hated my poor brother being in the same room as her for ages.

Ceebee-we all had the beef stroganoff but have struggled to point it up so said 11 points. So after the Twirl I had this afternoon I have run out of points. When we got married we had been to church once before to hear the banns being read but we were too late (they told us the wrong Sunday) then we never went again but had DD1 Christened and will have Sophie done. Can't see us going to church before the Christening I would like to go to encourage the girls (well, try and show them the right road to travel as such) but DH and I are not at all religious and he is not overly keen.

kayzed-didn't think about the sugar content in Petit Filous. SIL gave them to her 2 so I copied and all my friends give them to their DC. You are right though as I've just checked the sugar content and it is high. I know you don't like tins but maybe you could give Roshi one of the Heinz breakfast cereal tins-very creamy.

us-hope Zack is a lot better. I shouldn't think Sophie is much more than 14lb something and she is 7 months on the 27th Jan. I think sometimes the HV are there to put the frighteners on you.

Lysettes-crikey, your Christening plans sound 1000 times worse than mine I have to make a decision re work by April-just don't want to go but am finding sleeping hard now as I do sleep better when I have been to work. Bit drastic though to go back to work just so I can sleep methinks.

prettymum-bless Junior, we have another trainee gymnast on our thread

Love to all, will go before mammoth post is created!

Thanks Lysettes and HC, I think you're right about the over reacting hV. I hadn't seen this one since the week Zack was born my normal one hadn't been overly concerned on previous visits.

Hope your scaffolding held up Lysettes

Beadmum it sounds like weaning is going great

Have a fab trip KZ, pop on mn soon and make us all sick with

prettymum · 18/01/2007 20:09

just a quick one to say to kz- have a safe flight and hope you have a brilliant holiday!! try and pop in and say hello if you can

just got junior off to sleep after a bit of screaming!

Twinklemegan · 18/01/2007 21:00

Hello everyone. I've only scanned through the posts I'm afraid but thanks for all your kind thoughts.

KZ - strangely the sore patches seem to coincide with where I kiss him! I'm just wondering if he could be allergic to my lipstick, but then I don't wear it very often. It could be tears or dribble too I suppose. Trouble is, without washing his face ten times a day there's not much I can do about that, is there? Have a good flight - I'm very envious. BTW I've just flounced off that thread - I've noticed my posting style getting a tad more forceful since I've been back at work. I must watch that - not the best way to let off steam I don't think!

I can't remember much of what anyone else said I'm afraid. I promise I won't use this thread to moan about work - that's what DH is for! We're off down to Devon tomorrow for a long weekend so Aidan can meet his half-sister. I'm dreading it actually as it's a logistical nightmare, especially with him being so unsettled at the moment. Although it doesn't really compare with KZ's trip does it?! So I'll be back on MN on Tuesday I expect. Wonder if you'll have started a new thread by then.

Twinklemegan · 18/01/2007 21:01

Sorry Maewest - I forgot to say thanks for your input on the skin thing. I hope you're right and he'll grow out of it.

frenchleave · 18/01/2007 21:02

Yes KZ have a great time! You're brave, taking on that flight (but then I'm a total wimp when it comes to travelling with kids) I hope it goes ok

HC - how strange at Sophie crying at the waiter! I thought they didn't get fussy about people until around 9 months - she's obviously very advanced for her age

Thomas is 6 months old today! I can't believe it's been half a year already, he's changed so much. Happy 6 months to Annie's and Soph28's babies too

About time I started weaning I suppose

Got his check-up and 1st pneumo jab tomorrow. Fancy a guess the weight comp?! He was 7.26kg / 16lb on 15th December.

IamBlossom · 18/01/2007 21:44

have a great safe trip KZ!

KoshkaAndJake · 18/01/2007 23:13

Only 4lbs off 1.5stone!
Got my pushchair today!! YAY!!!
here if yor interested it is very light

Jake is ok, the ex has started getting up with him in the morning so i get a bit of a lie-in.

Im paying his charges as its an account in my name that his wages are payed into. He quit his job just before christmas as his boss wasnt doing things according to health and safety and he didnt like it.

antway, i really need to go wash bottles. this is the only time i get to myself jake and my mum have gone to bed!

KoshkaAndJake · 18/01/2007 23:18

PS! has anyone added a profile to themselves?
I have, just wanted to ask so i dont have to click randomly on everyones names!

agalch · 19/01/2007 07:04

Morning girls

Hope you have a great trip KZ!!!

Twinklemegan what thread are you causing trouble on.Jeez i must try to get on more often i miss all the fighting lol.

Bought my wedding dress last Saturday and kilts hired for dp and the ds's so getting there.Looking for favours etc, what a nightmare, didn't know there was so many different ideas for them.

Well done Koshka!!! I go to scottish slimmers and lost 4.5lbs this week so have lost 1st at the class and 2st altogether.I am starting to "feel" slimmer iykwim. My size 16 next jeans are in the bin cos they were soooo baggy and my friend gave me her size 14's that are too big for her.Yaaaay

Eilidh is teething atm(i think)dribbling wee bit grumpy and a red cheek but sleeping just the same.Up for 5/6 mins for a feed and back to sleep so not too bad.Still not sure what to do about weaning, she grabbed a peice of my sandwich yesterday and gummed it to death then spat it out. Will need to get my butt into gear.have no idea what she weighs now,not planning to get her weighed till we put her into a front facing car seat,to make sure she's heavy enough.

Boo Hoo i am back to work on Monday.Have a boy of nearly 3 starting.Have had him on a few settling in visits and he seems to be a really lovely little boy but his speech is awful.Dd1 has already started to copy some of the things he says,eg he says me want instead of i want and i will have a job correcting her all the time. One of my previous parents also wants a space but the care commission won't let me take on another under 5 so have to say no to her.Wish she'd phoned me first.

Better go get mt grumpy teenager out of bed,oh the joys of parenthood lol

usandnosleep · 19/01/2007 07:08

Morning

Twinkle- moan away I hope you have a fab wekend. Oh and don't worry about that thread, I can't even post on these I get so Too many mner's think there is one way- their way.

French- my guess: 16lbs 11ozs

Kosh- congrats on the weight loss you are doing so well. Pushchair looks good too, much easier to get on and off the bus.

I'm sat here in amazement as Zack went to bed at 8.15 we had a blip at 9 when he woke for a feed then he woke at 1 for another feed but he is still there now!
I woke at 6 when DP's alarm went off and had a fright went to check and he is sound asleep on his tummy. I know they're not supposed to sleep on their tums but how can you stop them? And the thing is he can roll onto his tum but can't roll back again. Would you worry? Although apart from checking him every hour through the night I don't know what I can doo about it

Hope the weather is better today it's our library rhyme time today.

Have a good day all

P>S Are you still around Figgy?

Wallace · 19/01/2007 07:09

Have a good holiday KZ!

koshka - glad you got your pushchair. It looks handy for those bus trips

twinkle - I don't know about aiden's skin. Is it on his cheek or just in front of his ear? And have you tried olive oil or sweet almond oil?

Hope no-one has very ba damage from the wind. We missed it up here, but had a bit of snow instead.

Leo sleeping a lot better, but has started being awful at going to sleep in the evenings agaoin. I can't win! Had a nice day yesterday. Leo and I went to the airport to collect my mum and teenager sister. They've been in Zimbabwe since the beginning of december so it was lovely to see them. THey said there was a huge difference in LEo!

usandnosleep · 19/01/2007 07:10

Morning Agalch
Brilliant weight loss, you must be counting down til the big day now!

Wallace · 19/01/2007 07:13

cross posted
us - hat sounds like a goodnigths sleep, hope it continues

agalch - reminded me what date yuo get married? Well done on your weight too Read yuor post as if you were thinking of putting Eilidh in a forward facing seat now, I was releived when I reread it and realised what you were really saying!

koshka - meant to say I haven't done a profile yet, but I will. Also congrats on the weight loss

usandnosleep · 19/01/2007 07:19

Morning Wallace

I always find that we sort one thing and somethings else goes wrong! It's a real juggling act! For us Zack has begun sleeping better at night but daytime naps have become near on impossible. I can deal with that though I would much rather have it that way round
Have a good day. x

agalch · 19/01/2007 07:30

Hi Wallace we get married on the 10th of April(my birthday)in Gretna Green.

Can't remember what weight they have to be to sit in a forward facing, but no not planning to until she's the right weight.Although one of my ex parents wanted me to put her baby in an unsuitable seat once and had a right go at me when i refused.

I want to lose another st before my dress fitting on the 15th of March which i think i can do.I' will be working 8.30am till 2pm so my mum has offered to sit with my dd's in the afternoons so i can go swimming/aqua fit etc so will get some excersise too.

What's the thread you are all talking about?

usandnosleep · 19/01/2007 07:38

It's in bottle/breastfeeding and titled something like 'another article about how awful breastfeeding is... blah blah blah!!.....' The usual now boring debate!

IamBlossom · 19/01/2007 08:36

morning girls! early birds this morning! DS1 is watching Chitty Chitty bang bang AGAIN! I knew all the words from watching it incessantly in my own childhood, so now I could act it!

Toby had pureed mango with his porridge this morning, seems to be a goer.

Koshka, I have added a profile.

Algach! Fantabbydozy news re your weight loss, well bloody done! You must feel like a slip of a girl!!
