Thought I had better start a new thread as the old one was about to crash

Happy 30th B'Day kbaby Wish I was 30 again but then I suppose I wouldn't even be married let alone have a house to live in or my 2 precious children. Whoops-going all sentimental now, better go!

Taking DD1 to her dance class Christmas Party so got some sarnies to be getting on with.

Happy Sunday

PS - Toby is losing interest in his milk big time - can just about get 20 ounces down him in a 24 hour period, is that enough? He is eating well, should I be offering water at mealtimes too?

Lysettes · 17/01/2007 09:19

morning everyone!

desperately trying to keep up on all posts and lok at photos - i'll post some of jacob soon, promise

we too are waking at 1030, 1, 4 or 5 then 7ish, and hungry each time! our routine goes something like the following:

5 wake up and milk around 120ml

7ish wake up and play while mummy prepares breakfast

8 fruit puree and around 160ml milk

9-10 nap

1045ish sometimes milk - not always

1230 milk and veg puree sometimes with fruit puree as well - milk around 180ml

3 milk - around 160ml

5 fruit puree and sometimes veg too if he didn't have much at lunch with milk - about 180ml

6ish bath then another 100ml or so of milk then falls asleep.

then wake up at 10ish for another 100ml or so of milk.

jacob has only started waking so regularly since we started weaning - and we get through enough milk during the day! he's just so hungry!

anyone else having problems with different foods - we only eat apple and pear, and veg we only eat parsnip, sweet potato, potato, butternut squash. carrots he doesn't like, and tried papaya yesterday and no go on that either! should i try him with some cereal in the mornings? he won't eat baby rice.

iamblos 20ozs is the mimimum at 6 months old.
I dont know how im going to keep up with you all when Im back in work.

Ds was a tinker last night and woke at 12 and wouldnt go back to sleep, he eventually went down at 2am and didnt wake until 7am, well im not sure about that bit as he had a nap at 8.30 which makes me think he may have woken earlier but I just didnt hear him. I was so tired last night that I felt glued to the bed and couldnt move a muscle.

maewest · 17/01/2007 19:49

Hey all, hi to new people. So many posts and so many pics of lovely babies. Been following all your messages but bit sleep deprived here, so haven't got it together to post before now. Last 2 nights (fingers crossed) the boy has gone to sleep without being boobed down. Last night he only woke up twice before starting the day at 7.30, so not too bad.

Pics here hopefully. Recent ones of the boy, plus a bump pic (taken a week before I was due). I thought I didn't have any stretchmarks then went thro labour and looked down and found a little patch of them low down, I just hadn't been able to see them before .

frenchleave · 17/01/2007 20:25

Lovely neat bump Maewest! I got my stretchmarks with my smallest baby, DD2, who was less than 5lb at birth. Wierd. And your little man is gorgeous!

Kbaby - I do that too, sleep through my baby's crying , and he's in the next room so it's not like I can't hear him properly! Sometimes I'm just soooo tired...

Bloss - thanks, you flatter them! Luckily they look nothing like me, nor, oddly, like DH

Reading all your routines makes me want to put off weaning forever! It's all so time consuming, I'd completely forgotten just what it's like (it's been 6.5 years ).

Have got a date and a venue for T's baptism now, just need to find a restaurant, cos the British church is too far from home to get everyone back here, phew .

Time for a cuppa and more chocolate, methinks.

Wallace · 17/01/2007 21:35

fench - love the photos of thomas and his beautifyl sisters.

maeweat - lovely bump! And such a grownup looking boy

Did someone ask about BLW? It is me that keeps going on about it. It suits Leo down to the ground - greedy pig that he is

Another photo I posted earlier n response to the thread about all prams/pushchairs looking chavvy Leo in his pram

Twinklemegan · 17/01/2007 22:12

Hello people. There's loads I want to say but frankly I'm knackered and I haven't got the energy.

KZ - you asked about Aidan's skin. It started off dry, now it's more red and bumpy like it's inflamed. When I used the steroid cream for a few days all that went leaving a few flat red spots. But it just keeps coming back. Interesting that it's not really a site for eczema because it doesn't really look like eczema to me. BTW, can you believe that b/f article thread!

Christening - we've been trying to arrange to get Aidan christened. I wanted to do it before Xmas but my brother, who's going to be godfather, was away. He's not going to be free until April and I really wanted Aidan christened before he was six months . And DH's family is so far away and we don't think they'll probably want to be bothered TBH. So we were quite tempted just to get him done with just us two acting as godparents and not involve anyone else, but that would be quite sad. Now we think we're going to wait until we've somehow moved house and settled and have a housewarming/christening/probably 1st birthday do.

Weaning - Lysettes have you tried fruit mixed with the baby rice? Aidan loves that, but hates br on its own. He had mashed avocado with apple today (from a book I can't name) and really liked it. He's introducing us to things we've never eaten!

Oh well, it seems I've found the energy for a long post after all. Must go to bed now - first full day back at work today and it was very stressful and knackering. Night!

oh poor poor Twinkle and Festive and all you harrassed new mums back at work, BIG HUGS to you all, please do keep logging in and posting, none of us mind if you haven't read all the posts or seen all the pics do we girls??? If I ever feel pissed off at the moment I remind myself I can loll at home in my jarmies if the weather is shite, and I went back to work after DS1 so I really know how you are feeling, lots of love. xxx

Maewest, totally delish boy, and your bump looks like a plaster of paris stick on it's so perfect! He he, do you remember those fake kenny Everett boobs he used to put on, amazing what you remember....

KZ, poor you, I am sure Rosh is totally fine, but it must have been a shock, DS1 upended himself out of his push chair onto his head in a reastaurant at about 6 months, cos I hadn't strapped him in properly so I know the feeling. Thanks for advice re water and milk, will offer Toby some water today with lunch and tea. Anyone else giving petit filous yet?

Catch up later girls,

Love

Bloss

maewest · 18/01/2007 08:12

kz - I sort of dropped DS the other day when I was putting him into the cot, so his head bounced on the side . He roared and I cried, it's an awful feeling isn't it.

Thanks for your lovely comments about the bump and the boy. Can't believe there was more than 8 pounds worth of baby in there, how did he fit? I think our sleep probs are directly related to the cheeky monkey wanting to be awake all the time because he doesn't want to miss anything, even when he's completely knackered he finds a watery grin from somewhere. He did go to sleep by himself last night, but woke up screaming 2 hrs later and then again at 10ish. He eventually settled at 11 and slept until 6.30am . I on the other hand was awake half the night because I couldn't relax, insomnia's all I need!

Twinkle - re Aidan's skin probs, one of my NCT friends had the same issue with her DS. He's about 6 weeks older than my DS and he seemed to have grown out of it by 6 months - maybe just a time thing? His skin is pretty peachy now. My DS has scaly patches behind his ears (think maybe to do with all the puke and dribble) but it doesn't seem to bother him so I'm just keeping an eye for now.

Ceebee74 · 18/01/2007 08:57

Twinkle & Festive - big hugs for you both. People keep telling me going back to work gets easier - not sure if that is true!

KZ - am sure Roshi is ok - these babies are quite tough aren't they? Josh headbutted the wooden floor this morning (he was playing on his front, managed to wriggle off the rug and then let his head drop - whoops!) Anyway, have a good flight tomorrow and can't wait to speak to you all the way from the sunny land of Oz!

Not sure if I will be able to log on at work - we have a policy that staff can use the internet in their own time (ie lunchtime) but the IT department have banned such a huge amount of sites, that there is very little you can actually use.

Anyway, Josh is at nursery for 4 hours today (not sure what I am going to do with myself for that long) - I hope he goes down for his nap ok while he is there otherwise I will picking up a very grumpy baby

HumphreysCorner · 18/01/2007 10:54

Morning ladies

Me too struggling to keep up now I have got into doing my jigsaw in an evening-v. therapeutic.

Sophie has woke up for a feed at 10-30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and woke at 5am on Wednesday morning hoping it is just a growth spurt.

Gave MIL a list of possible dates for the Christening so she could check if her and FIL are free as last time I changed the date twice due to FIL going away and he still didn't make it He keeps going abroad on his own as MIL won't go with him-SHAME ! Anyway, she just ticked one of the dates she thought was suitable and when I asked DH if they could make any of the dates he had to ring her as she hadn't even thought of checking and she hasn't asked FIL so he may not be there as I'm just going to see the Vicar and pick a date so tough if they can't make it!!!!! My bro and SIL said to turn up at 10am at a certain church on the set day for their DC and that was that. DD1 was 10 months when she was Christened and looks like Sophie may be as well but this doesn't bother me-gives me time to slim.

kosh-good to hear from you and pleased you are getting on better with you ex but why are you paying his charges? You are an angel for doing it though

french-truly gorgeous children.

Really feel for those struggling with the reurn to work-it does get a bit easier but I didn't settle as I hated my job and my boss. Telling me I hadn't got enough points after only being back for 2 months after a year off and what was my 'action plan' to deal with it was the final straw when I had a 1 year old that was far more important than bloody points! I used to cry all the way to work then of course once someone asks if you are OK it sets you off again. ((Hugs)) to you all. Oh, and you can only access the Bank internet so you can't even MN for comfort

Loving the bump piccies Do so wish I had taken one like these as I took a pic in my maternity dress next to the cot when I was having both of them but you can't see the bump very well.

kayzed-am sure Roshi will be fine after her gymnastics. Not long until your hols.

Don't know what the swop thing is so will have to go and investigate.

Bloss-have given Sophie Petit Filous from 4 months. Her eyes light up when she sees them and they are convenient to take out.

Am having tea out with my friends and children so have been onto the Brewers Fayre website to study the menu to try and find a lowish point meal. So, will be either just a Prawn Cocktail starter or Beef Stroganoff and Basmati rice or a plate od salad and pitta bread or some similar bread.

Sophie is playing with her VTech musical DJ toy which has a microphone. I have just heard this v. loud arrrhhhh and saw she was singing into the microphone-has made me

Better go and do some ironing. Have a good day ladies in this dreadful weather.

Toby refused brekkie too KZ. Ate everything I offered last week, including courgette mixed with swede which looked and smelled pretty disgusting but he nailed it. Trying not to stress about it though and making sure his milk intake is 20 ounces or more. I think I am going to go right back to really really plain veg too......

prettymum · 18/01/2007 11:53

morning ladies!

kz- still not working
junior did the somersault thing today! i was on the phone to dp and he wanted me to look for a letter so i sat him on the couch and turned my back to search for letter. then i just heard a loud thump and he was on the floor!!! we have floorboards aswell so it must have hurt, but he got over it quick!

dp and i have insomnia!! dp is worse!! we just cant go to sleep! we go bed around 2am or later and he has to wake up around 6.30 for work!

well better take advantage of this rubbish weather and tidy up my messy flat!

prettymum · 18/01/2007 12:16

i just got a 2007 diary from slim fast for free!!! its really nice!!!

if you want one go to
slimfast

and in the code box type in diary

it normally costs £6.99

Lysettes · 18/01/2007 13:24

hugs to everyone back at work {{{{hugs}}}} i have to decide in the next couple of months, and am dreading it - boss is like a petulant child if i'm not there at his beck and call 24 hours a day, and If I do go back i'm going to ask for part time and restricted hours, so no contact after I leave the office - I can just hear him roaring with laughter at the idea

we started porridge this morning, and jacob wolfed it down! then potato and sweet potato (not quite sure how nutritious this is!) with apple and sultana for lunch - took to that as well! I'm sure we'll have a really grizzly afternoon and no sleep though just to make up for it. And he refuses br with fruit in it - even apple which he loves on its own.

HC you poor thing re the christening. We are in a similar sort of quandry over Jacob - MIL and FIL aren't religious so don't understnad why we want it done, but if we are going to have it done we have to have it done in NZ where they live as the people we would like as godparents live there. But my parents who are religious would then miss out, and be really upset by that - can't win! And DH had the nerve to say his parents "wouldn't mind" if we got Jacob christened!!!

Anyone any ideas on this - jacob wakes pretty much every night about 20 mins after he has been put down - wakes yelling and as soon as you go to him and pick him up he goes straight back to sleep.

sorry really long post again!

Ceebee74 · 18/01/2007 13:43

HC - LOL at the Brewers Fayre menu - we must be on the same wavelength then as we have one 2 mins down the road and I pointed out the exact same meals to DH as the healthy options if we go whilst dieting! (Quite fancy the beef stroganoff tbh)

Re christenings - DH is keen to get Josh christened but I can't face all the organising, having to go to church for a while before etc - I know I am going to have to do it sometime but am putting it off as long as possible.

Lysettes - no idea about the sleeping - I suppose if he only does it once, it is liveable with but I have learnt babies are strange.

Don't know about the rest of you in the UK but the wind here is terrible - have lost all the back garden fence panels already (and they have snapped in half, not just blown over which means we will have to replace them) and part of the drainpipe. I hate the wind more than anything - I think my imagination runs wild about the damage it can do!!
