Congratulations Indom, looking forward to seeing a picture.

Have not posted for ages but have been trying to keep up, and enjoying everyone's updates and news. Can't believe we all have babies now!

Oliver is 2 weeks old today and doing well. Was weighed the other day and is now 7lb 6oz (birthweight 7lb2). He feeds really well but still getting pain when feeding from the left side. I have a crack on that nipple (from when he had a tongue tie), but it's slowly healing so hopefully will improve soon. The MW recommended putting breast milk on it after feeds so have been doing that (followed by loads of Lansinoh) and it does seem to be helping.

Here's a picture of my milk monster

suz I had mild mastistis with ds, I just could not get warm no matter how many layers I wore. Keep feeding/pumping and when you massage try to push the milk from where it is most painful down to the nipple, you need to clear the blockage. Babies are more effective than a pump so try to feed from it if you can. I do remember that once I started to feel better I recovered pretty quickly and I had a massive store of ebm to freeze . On that note has anyone been organised enough to freeze any milk in case you are ill/need to be away from baby at all. Now Cassidy feeds beautifully I haven't expressed in ages but I keep thinking I should get dh to do the odd bottle to make sure she doesn't start getting fussy and at least store up a couple of packets in the freezer for emergencies.

Congratulations indom!! Flowers

Martha has been smiling for a week - I read that it happens anywhere between 4 weeks and 3 months. It's fantastic to see a real smile.

Martha has got a couple of birth marks - a tiny one on her nose and a stork bite on the back of her neck, they should fade with time, but as she grows they'll probably shrink.

Suz hope you feel better soon. Flowers

It's quite emotional - the babies are all here and we've done it! We've grown happy, healthy babies, and now we get to watch them grow up into happy healthy toddlers and moody arsey teenagers. Wine

MrsElls I've not expressed for a week, Martha is still combination feeding, she feeds off me first and than we top her up with a bottle. My supply isn't great so she needs a bit extra. I keep hoping that "something" will kick in and I'll start producing loads but I doubt it will.

Feeling fab this morning - DH did all the feeds overnight so I've had tons of sleep , amazing what a difference it's made.

Have a good day and indom can't wait to hear about your LO's arrival xx

Congratulations Indom! BabyIndom must have been holding out for an April birthday! Hope you're both doing well.

Purpleprickles · 01/04/2016 10:46

Congrats Indom so pleased for you!

Thanks for the birthmark comments, they make me feel better that they are common. I'll see what the midwife says when I see her next.

I can't wait for E to smile, we've had wind ones but not the real thing yet. I think she is focussing on faces a lot more now though.

Here's a pic of her looking a bit perplexed. You can just see the red mark on the side of her chin

Congratulations Indom, looking forward to hearing details!
The midwife has just been and weighed Eleanor, and now she's gained her birth weight back we've been discharged from her care. She's more than happy with the progress little Nella is making, which is a relief as she's solely on expressed breast milk now and I wanted to be sure it was suiting her with bottles and the amount she was wanting and it seems to be doing.
Just managed to prank DH for April Fools- I wandered upstairs to express some milk and after a few minutes ran down yelling to him to look at what I'd 'expressed'. I'd put some cows milk in a bottle and a load of yellow food colouring- looked like Orange juice- and pretended I'd just expressed it. He was panicking, going 'oh my god that's not right, what's happened?! Can we still give it her?! Are you diseased?!' Grin

Woodenmouse · 01/04/2016 12:46

charley that's hilarious! Why didn't I think of that!!
I haven't done anything for April fools day

MrsElls · 01/04/2016 13:28

charley that did make me lol!

BumpPower · 01/04/2016 13:53

mrsellis I have 3 100ml bags in the freezer and am feeling organised! DS was a very poor sleeper and I remember feeling very nagged by DP to express (even though he was only doing it so he could do a night feed and let me sleep) and it became a really chore. So I've been expressing during breakfast each morning and am hoping to keep to the routine. On a random note that might help anyone who plans to express, DP made me an "expressing bra" which is just a primark sports bra with holes cut in! It is super handy though as the bra is tight enough to hold the pump on allowing me to eat my breakfast with both hands!
charley that made me laugh!

vroc81 · 01/04/2016 14:04

Congratulations Indom and by page your of your thread too!! Hope everything is going well!

Charley that's brilliant, I was trying to think of something to do to the DH in the small hours of this morning but was too sleep deprived to think of anything!

purple R has birthmarks along her eye lid.. The midwife at hospital told us they would be more noticeable when she was angry.. This appears to be true!!

Hello Grin
DS2 was born about 2am after 3.5-7 hrs labour (depending on where you count from). This was much faster than with DS1 but so much more painful!

DS2, still without a name, was 8lb14. He's really mucusy and is really snuffly & sicky, and is very sleepy so having trouble getting him to suckle. (Tips welcome!)

But when he does - omg the after-pains are something else! Very glad I bought incontinence pants as they're containing the after-pain-cramp-gushes well so far.

Has anyone got a good feeding/sleeping tracker ft iOS?

ffauxlivia · 01/04/2016 16:19

Yay indom congrats!! so happy for you!! Picture???

Seren is still sleepy - I strip her down to nappy and have cold wash cloth on hand to lay on her to wake her up, just don't put it on their head as they jolt and unlatch. Legs are good, and tickle inside their elbows apparently works too

I use the Sprout app and it's great, but not sure if it's available in UK

Enjoy the snuggles finally!!

ffauxlivia · 01/04/2016 16:21

My grammar was terrible there. I meant tickle the inside of his elbow, and lay the cold flannel on his legs Smile but it is so frustrating when they are sleepy I know!

MrsElls · 01/04/2016 16:40

indom Cassidy was really mucusy as well and the midwife said she had probably swallowed some during labour so would feel like her tummy was full therefore not want to suckle. Stripping her off for skin to skin was the best way to encourage her.

nixxxy · 01/04/2016 17:05

Congratulations indom! Ellie was a bit mucusy when she was born and threw up a couple of times, that cleared but other bloody issues took over!

Speaking of the posterior tongue tie, I called the consultants secretary this morning and they're putting on extra clinics! Luckily Ellie will be seen next Friday and have the procedure Grin We have a two hour round journey, but it's the closest clinic for us. That means only a week of bottle feeding (fingers crossed) DH ordered the MAM breastfeeding starter set (pump, slow release teats etc) and steriliser for me using Amazon prime so we should have it tomorrow when we get home.

magpiedreams · 01/04/2016 17:29

Well done indom! Sleepiness and horrific after pains...sounds exactly where we were 48 hours ago! MW said not to worry too much about him being sleepy and mucousy, especially as he was a good weight, and you have 6oz on us so even better. At about 20hours old he really woke up and has been chomping happily every 2-3 hours since. The after pains are still there but nowhere near as bad now replaced by nipple pain

Great news on the tongue tie snip date nixxy, not too much longer to wait then.

Loving your April fool charley!

We've been referred to the physios for his talipes. Hopefully won't need anything specific doing but I'm feeling weird about it and wanting to keep it secret from friends and family - as if me not telling them makes it go away. So thanks for letting me share here.

QforCucumber · 01/04/2016 17:33

nixxy I have the MAM set and find it brill but have just invested in an electric pump as was getting so tired doing it manually. R has taken their bottles well though and the storage pots are great.

Congratulations indom impressive he only missed March by 2 hours! I'm using the glow app, let's you track sleeps, feeds, and nappy changes.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 01/04/2016 18:29

magpie DD1 was referred to physio for positional talipes - the physio looked her over and said she would be fine, so it might not be a big thing.

Wow to all you organised ladies using naps to track feeds, nappies etc. We're very blasé about it in our house and just feed E whenever she starts rooting, and change her nappy when it feels like it's been a while Confused

Poppins27 · 01/04/2016 18:33

Congratulations Indom, hope baby wakes up soon.

Makes me laugh, I panic when Bertie's sleeping too much re feeding, panic when he's feeding loads thinking my supply is poor, panic when I have loads of nappy changes, panic when there's too few....when do I get to just chill out again?!?

That's a great point re freezing some ebm, I've been expressing during the day, then DP feeding him it giving me a chance for a bath during his cluster feed time. I'll start saving some for the freezer in case of illness, thanks for that!!

My boobs appear to have gone crazy today after only feeding Bertie once during the night, like the day your milk comes in, all lumpy etc. ouchy!!

I hope you feel better soon suz I had a touch of mastitis with Dd, the pain was horrific but luckily I didn't get the flu symptoms, can't imagine the pain alongside feeling like death too.

1frenchfoodie · 01/04/2016 18:49

Indom congratulations. Eloise is very sleepy on the nipple too. Tickling/massaging her feet is the best way to get her to wake gently though blowing on her head and patting her back can work too.

Have been hand expressing so DH can do a night feed and manage 80ml in less than 15 mins so not the pain I imagined. My sis is bringing breast pump soon though and may then be organised enough to freeze some. What are you all freezing in, tupperware?

Purpleprickles · 01/04/2016 19:24

Congrats Indom! Looking forward to seeing a pic. The hospital told me to do skin to skin when E was refusing to feed and also tickle feet and to quote one midwife "generally annoy her".

I feel ancient not having an app for feeding because I have a notepad and pen Grin

Suz hope you are feeling better.

Poppins I worry about everything too. My mum tells me worrying never ends as a parent and I suppose she is right!

BumpPower · 01/04/2016 19:51

french I have specific breast milk freezing bags. They are v good
You need to fill them then freeze them flat which means they defrost quickly - rather than freezing them in little pots which then take a while to defrost. You can get them from boots etc.

magpiedreams · 01/04/2016 20:16

Thanks marmite that'll prob be the case for us too, just struggling due to the timing clashing with day 3 milk hormones I think!

suz I hope you're feeling better.

Missikat · 01/04/2016 20:32

Place marking, will have to come back later and catch up. hope I've not missed anything...like our thread namesake giving birth?!

Poppins27 · 01/04/2016 20:56

French a friend bought me some Lanisoh freezer bags especially for expressed milk. That way the date expressed can be written on the sachet etc so you know whether it's in date still. Must get them out!!

I haven't got an app for feeding, I hadn't even thought of that being a thing. Any recommendations?!

Missi... You totally have missed a baby...! Smile
