Great tip there Bump!

Well, I just had a "bloody show" (well, bloody streaky pants-mucous) while supervising DSs bath.

And since have had 3 painful contractions. Well, maybe not painFULL, but definitely BHs-with-cervix/lower-abdomen-ouchyness.

What do you reckon? Game on? Or just more uterine mucking about?

marmiteandcheeseplease · 31/03/2016 19:27

crispy we've also had no success getting E to sleep in the cot. Managed one hour last night! I've been co sleeping with her and hoping to gradually transition her to the cot.. Let me know how the sleepyhead goes, have been tempted by it!

suz I second using copious amounts of lanisol. Also, I've been using these moist wound healing sheets called 'jelonet'. Basically a large square of netting, which I cut into smaller squares llike a postage stamp size. Then after a feed apply lanisol, place a jelonet square in top, then put a breastpad over it. Has helped heal the crack in the base of my nipple down from about 15mm to 3-4mm. It's taking a while to heal but getting there eventually. I did consider using nipple shields or expressing but couldn't be bothered with the faff of expressing at night and didn't want to go down the nipple shield route. Hopefully your nipple heals up soon.

magpie E was diagnosed at birth with positional talipes but have literally heard nothing more about it so am just going to ask at the 6 week appt.

Sorry to hear about the jaundice trijo. It's so common though with newborns, please don't feel bad about it. Hope treatment goes OK Flowers

time if you're that concerned about baby weight then I'm sure your local children's centres will have weigh in drop ins. Where I live there are drop ins pretty much everyday but I live in a large town with lots of children's centres. Your health visitor should have given you details of drop ins when you had your visit?

Speaking of which I have finally heard from the health visiting team and have a home visit from them next week. DPs mum said hv are supposed to see baby between days 10-14 but E is 14 days old today so they've missed that window! Postnatal service has been a bit crap here- I had to chase up about Es newborn hearing screening, they gave me an appt but I realised it's Monday and they didn't tell me where to go for it! So spent half an hour on hold to audiology dept at hospital today before giving up, need to ring them tomorrow to chase it up.

Re nappies- we've been using Aldi as they are cheap and haven't experienced any leakage, and they've always worked with DD1. We're going to move E onto reusable nappies once her cord stump has healed, but will still use disposables at night. DPs brother and SIL bought us some cheeky wipes which are reusable wipes, and have started using them, would definitely recommend them to anyone considering going down the reusable wipes route.

E has been a cheeky bugger today, after feeding every 2 hours last night she spent most of the day sleeping. Had to wake her for a few feeds!

Ooh cross post with indom hope this is things kicking off! Grin

magpiedreams · 31/03/2016 19:48

Yay indom I hope this is it! Your description of the possible contractions is precisely how I would describe my early ones on Tuesday. You have 4.5hours left to produce a March baby, no pressure Wink

Glad I hadn't completely imagined that marmite. How are her feet looking now? Hopefully nothing further to be done.

tri - Flowers hope she clears the jaundice quickly, of course you will feel upset, but you are doing great, as others have said its common and she's getting the right treatment.

MrsBenWyatt · 31/03/2016 19:48

Good luck Indom!!!

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 19:52

Grin I'm fairly sure this is actually it!

DSis & DM are on standby. DH has started leaping around the house tidying things & making it acceptable to DM!

This better not stop now!

magpiedreams · 31/03/2016 19:59

Whoop! Hope you have a gorgeous baby in your arms very soon.

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 20:04

You know when you're not sure if it'll be 13 hours or 3?

magpiedreams · 31/03/2016 20:11

2nd babies often quick...you don't want an unplanned kitchen-floor job like me

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 20:16

I really don't!

When should I go in? They're already up to lasting 45-60 seconds every 2:30-3:00 mins.

On-call midwife is 30 mins away too.

magpiedreams · 31/03/2016 20:21

Now, go now! Have you ring? Is DM or DSis there yet? 3 contractions every 10 mins... You need assessing I think. Good luck!

CharleytheFrenchPoodle · 31/03/2016 20:24

Ooh how exciting Indom! Go now, I'd say! Rather run the risk of getting sent home again if they tail off than not making it there in time!

RhubarbAndMustard · 31/03/2016 20:26

Woop Indom, you are on your way to holding your gorgeous baby. Good luck!!

Tri how is it going at hospital? Thanksfor you.

J was sick today and it had green phlegm in it. He's been retching a lot this evening too on top of the coughing and sneezing. Think could be a long night. Indom feel free to update as much as you like Grin

Crispylicious · 31/03/2016 20:30

Go now indom! How exciting! I was told to go when getting 3 in 5 mins lasting 60 seconds. Yay our final thread baby is coming Grin

Thanks for all the tips ladies re getting R in the cot. Will probably give them all a go tonight!

MrsBenWyatt · 31/03/2016 20:31

Brew Cake

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 20:37

Midwife is 45mins away. DSis is ~30
mins away. Have rung and will go in in about 45 mins.

I feel sick. Envy

BeautifulLiar · 31/03/2016 20:42

Yay Indom!! Just yay!! It's because of your freak out, I'm convinced!

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 20:49

I think it's because I scrubbed the bathroom floor and got those papers marked!

Woodenmouse · 31/03/2016 20:52

Yeay indom hopefully you will be having baby cuddles before midnight!!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 31/03/2016 20:57

Ooh exciting indom! 2nd babies definitely quicker so hopefully you'll have newborn snuggles sooner rather than later!

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 21:02

DSis is here, DS is finally asleep (if he got wind of other people he'd be bouncing off the walls). 20 mins till I can go get checked out.

Still every 3 mins, ~60 secs.

magpiedreams · 31/03/2016 21:14

I'm putting money on you being well on your way to a baby by the time you get there indom. Hope they're manageable, keep breathing and stay in control.

Paperblank · 31/03/2016 21:34

Eeeee!!!

indom will be thinking of you Flowers

Can't wait for your update

X

BeautifulLiar · 31/03/2016 21:35

Indom normally by the time I'm having 3 contractions in 10 minutes I'm starting to lean on things and moan/grunt a little... baby follows rather soon after. Hope you're the same!

IndomitabIe · 31/03/2016 21:50

At the MLU, only 3cm but paper thin, we're allowed to stay.

They went off the boil a bit when we arrived but back on to 3 mins.
