Morning, glad to hear the jab effect was less than feared paper, a couple of friends' babies have slept for england after them but been otherwise fine, fingers crossed this group has the same experience.

Loving the baby photos, some great smiles - E is doing v occasionally but not captured on camera yet.

Paper E has occasional mucous in nappy, only if she has just weed and perhapes followed through on farting iyswim, not as part of big poo. A bit of googling suggests it is either own drool or sign of allergy/infection. As it is occassional, light and she is in fine fettle I'm invlined to think the former and to track to see if any link with when she is droolier.

E still has her hair but baby acne is pretty bad.

Ooo don't know if anyone uses them or knows already but aldi baby event is on today Grin

IndomitabIe · 21/04/2016 11:47

Morning, another crap night here (I think I managed ~3 hours sleep in 3 batches, but topped up a bit this morning).

Found out yesterday that we hadn't been hands over to the HV team by MWs. But it's all sorted and they're coming this afternoon.

And DS2 is officially out of newborn clothes at not yet 3 weeks old. At last weigh in (last week) he was over 9lb.

Love seeing the pics. DS2 is still flakey and spotty. Still looks cute to me though!

MrsElls · 21/04/2016 12:10

Ah I've got a Velcro baby today, the only place she would sleep was on a pillow on my lap, managed to transfer the pillow on to the floor but now I can't leave the living room in case she manages to roll off the pillow. This is very unlike her, I got a wonder week email this week so I think we must be in a leap, will have to read the chapter later.

Dh is away tonight, my mum is coming to visit so I was hoping to at least pretend to tidy a bit before going to get her weighed, guess that is out of the question at the moment.

IndomitabIe · 21/04/2016 16:36

DS2 is having a right screaming fit. The HV has been but is coming back in half an hour to try the hearing test again.

He's screamed so much (hungry, but too cross to feed, and then tired) she thinks he must be in pain. We might need to go back to the GP. I think it's a poor latch (but when I adjust it he immediately adjust it back), causing him to gulp air and the be uncomfortable and be so cross he can't shift it. It could be tongue tie? I might see if she can check. Feeding isn't painful though and he's still on 91st centile (10lb2oz - no wonder the newborn clothes weren't fitting!).

Finally calmed & feeding... phew

ffauxlivia · 21/04/2016 17:41

Hi all, I'm back after a bit of a hiatus!

I think last time I was here indom had recently had her baby (did you share his name, I can't remember?)

I was struggling with a bit of depression and a lot of anxiety, plus feeding issues and bad reflux. Even reading mumsnet began feeling like something else I was failing at if I couldn't keep up with posts and be supportive to others!

Anyway I think the fog is lifting now! I've tried to catch up with posts a bit and will continue today

I go to a fantastic class for new mums and babies which has been a great support. Breastfeeding is slowly getting better but still supplementing and pumping which is driving me crazy! Reflux has been awful, especially on the bottle, she was just in so much pain during feedings, and utterly inconsolable. She's much better now we have medicine for her and I'm wearing her a lot in the Close Caboo to keep her upright, it instantly settles her, the poor wee thing

She's slowly gaining and is now 8 pounds 9, but still in newborn nappies so I was surprised to read about everyone moving to size 1 or 2! I might try size 1 just for a comparison.

Mum has been staying with us for 2 weeks which has been an amazing help as We haven't had to cook a single meal since then! But at the same time I could do with a bit more space now I'm getting the hang of things (no idea how you guys are doing it with no help during the day and other kids!!)

After she goes home my mother in law is coming for almost 3 weeks which I'm honestly dreading a little!

Baby is sleeping quite well - initial stretch of 3-5 hours then another shorter one. Our class leader said its normal for the first stretch to be quite long, and then the second one to be more fitful with them moving around - just like adults their sleep is lighter then

I second the WOnder Weeks app recommendation! And also I'm another one who has been watching grey's anatomy! Started in pregnancy and up to season 8 now! Also second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was great :)

Okay I'll try and catch up and hope to post more. Glad to hear that you are all doing okay though! Here's some pics I took last week when my munchkin hit 1 month old :)

Absolutely loving the baby pics! (See mine as a step by step of Georges hair loss😁)

faux you sound like you're really cracking on now, I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better and more yourself. 🌻 Good stuff you had your mum there (like you I could handle my mum but my dad and ILs would be another kettle of fish.)

indom I have a really fast let down and flow which is causing G similar problems. If you're not getting a painful latch could it be something similar?
He has to really gulp fast for the first lot of sucks before settling into a much calmer rhythm. When my milk came in we had to pump and bottle feed for two weeks because it was just too much for him, we are finally back with shields and practicing with out now though.

I'm nearly halfway through ER. If anyone ever fancies a tv series binge and isn't fussy with second hand stuff I recommend CEX.com. Each series had been £5 so I don't feel like I'm being silly setting myself up for an expensive hobby.

It's taken three weeks but I'm finally having my first post birth bath (instead of quick shower)
Using ALL my mat leave smellies ☺️

Amazing photos everyone. ffaux good to hear from you. I had to take a break from MN too until DS was about 4 weeks old as I was suffering with anxiety and struggling a bit. Mine passed and hopefully yours is now too.

Indom sorry you're having trouble with DS. It's horrible when they scream and scream and you don't know how to help them Sad

DS and I had our 6 week check today. The doctor didn't check my stitches despite me saying that I didn't think they'd healed properly - he just said to wait another 6 weeks as it can often take longer to completely heal and to come back then if I'm still having issues. It has actually felt much better over the last 4/5 days or I probably would have pushed to have a look today. I am scared it's going to really hurt though when we attempt to dtd again. DH said today that he's scared of hurting me and also weirded out a bit by the thought of it being different now! So we decided that when I'm ready to give it a try we're both going to have a few drinks first to relax us! It will have to be on one of the few evenings when DS decides to sleep ... tonight is not one of them. I keep rocking and stroking him off but he's awake again 5 minutes later ... DH just sits there and makes no attempt to help!!

1frenchfoodie · 22/04/2016 03:38

Hope lack of posts mean everybody is getting good stretches of sleep. Baby has been down since 12 and DH is asleep too but I am struggling to breathe due to asthma and hayfever being back with a vengence post birth. After a weeks wait I have a doc appointment tomorrow thank goodness.

ffaux lovely to see you back, cute pics.

Hope you got DS settled me, we had a grousy evening here too 8-12 though happily DH did most of the settling, she seems to go down better for him though she was harder work than usual tonight. Trade off is that I do most of the cooking.

dobbythedoggy · 22/04/2016 03:43

me hope your stiches continue to feel better. Do you have a follow up with anyone? I've got an appointment with the consultant in a week and a half. Very glad your post reminded me as mentally I was sure it was still 6 weeks away. My stitches or rather scar keep giving me odd fanny dagger type pains this week. Don't think I can justifiably book an appointment to get one of the practice nurses to check them with my hospital appointment so close.

Me624 · 22/04/2016 06:09

No dobby I don't have any follow up with the hospital, does that happen automatically in your area? I haven't had any fanny daggers thankfully! The scar was feeling generally a bit uncomfortable and tight and it seemed as if it hadn't completely closed at the top. When I checked it myself yesterday it still doesn't seem to be completely closed - perhaps one of the stitches came out or something - but it hasn't felt uncomfortable the last few days and the doctor said it will probably close up itself given a few more weeks.

I put DS in a Pampers Baby Dry nappy last night so we could avoid night changes. When he fed at 1.15 he was completely dry but when he woke at 5.30 it had leaked up his back. Will try again tomorrow just in case I didn't do it up right enough but he might just still be weeing a bit too much at night for them.

After Missi saying yesterday about putting the baby down for the evening upstairs instead of downstairs, we found it really difficult to settle DS last night in the lounge, but DH had a noisy film on and/or was shouting away on his Xbox. I thought back to the evenings where DS has settled early and they were all ones were DH was away and i either had the TV on very low or not at all. So we took DS upstairs and he settled quite easily. I think now he's not such a sleepy newborn he needs it to be quiet so we might try putting him down upstairs from now on.

BeautifulLiar · 22/04/2016 08:08

Dobby describe "fanny daggers"? Blush sounds like what I have, although I didn't have stitches. I'm seeing a consultant about it on Wednesday.

I was too embarrassed to tell the GP at my 6 week check that I have terrible constipation and piles. Anyone got any ideas of what I should take?

BeautifulLiar · 22/04/2016 08:10

Thought I'd add to the gallery - although its not a smiley one!

1frenchfoodie · 22/04/2016 08:28

Beautiful guess you have tried diet route i.e. lots of fibre and/or a few prunes a day. Dulcolax gets good writeups (happily prunes have worked for me over months of taking iron tablets).

QforCucumber · 22/04/2016 08:36

Senokot beaut seems to work for me.
And I love that pineapple sleepsuit!!

Paperblank · 22/04/2016 09:04

Beaut bless you, constipation is a pain in the arse (literally)

Try what French and Q have suggested but if it doesn't work take a deep breath and go back to the Dr's. I can guarantee that you will not be the only person they see that day with the same issue.

want Auntie Ra-ra to come with you?

MrsBenWyatt · 22/04/2016 13:13

Beaut a glycerine suppository sorted out my post-section constipation Blush

Me624 · 22/04/2016 14:33

Lots of tips already Beaut but you could also try lactulose which you can buy over the counter. I had awful piles in late pregnancy and after the birth but they have gone down now - I found the over the counter creams didn't do much so I did need something prescription strength for that.

DS has been fighting sleep today! He has refused to nap all morning so I have now taken him out in the pram, even though it is raining! He has the rain cover and I have my hood up. He will only stay asleep as long as we are moving so a long walk ahead for us!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 22/04/2016 20:00

Been lurking the past day or so but loving all the smiley pics - can't resist adding my own!

Driven to Bristol this weekend to see family and introduce E. Currently sat on my mums sofa wondering when I can get away with going to bed as I am knackered! E has woken up her usual times the past two nights (12.30ish, 2ish and 4ish) to feed but has been comfort sucking on the boob so taking ages to finish a feed and has been unsettled/gassy after the 4am feed so I'm knackered! We're introducing E to our friends tomorrow, can't wait to show her off, even if she is balding and spotty!

Yesterday had a phone call from my dad and predictably he wanted to moan about me and DP getting married and him not being invited etc. Bleurgh. I'm also getting lots of pressure from family to have a celebration and me and DP can't be arsed with it and they don't seem to get it. Wish we'd just done it on the quiet now! Oh well.

Sorry to hear you've had trouble getting DS to nap today me - I've had the opposite problem as E has slept all day and I expect will be up all night Sad

I think G has hay fever 😩
We went for a walk in the park yesterday and were stalked followed by the ride on grass cutter. It made my eyes itch and nose run.
After getting home G started to sound bunged up, this morning it's much worse and he has red eyes and a hot head (but no temp according to the under arm thermometer.)
He's been a bit more clingy and sleepy today too.
I don't want to do anything pfb and daft (like running to A&E) but what should I do? Should I wait until Monday and try and get in at the docs or go to tesco pharmacy tomorrow and ask them what's suitable?

Just re read what I've typed and I sound like a reet panicky mare 😧

Me624 · 23/04/2016 06:10

Second morning in a row that DS has soaked through a baby dry nappy - so I'll have to go back to changing him in the middle of the night still. Annoying but he's obviously still weeing too much!

I'm getting a bit down with the lack of sleep. DS will do a decent first stretch - last night he slept from about 9pm until he started stirring at 1.30. I fed him at 2 and after that it was a struggle to get him back into a deep sleep - he was stirring almost the same entire time. Eyes closed, but arms flailing around and the odd moan or grunt. It meant I barely slept as I kept thinking he was going to wake fully! I'm going to try putting him into a sleeping bag I think as he moves so much that he is constantly kicking his blankets off, so maybe he's cold? He doesn't feel cold to the touch although isn't warm either.

Missikat · 23/04/2016 06:27

Me, we had the same issue with Zach and DS1. The Woombie revolutionised our sleep/lives as often it's the flailing arms like you say that wake then again. They're good as they're stretchy so they can still move their arms a little in them (I think the main reason that swaddling is not recommended is as they can't move their arms so could overheat). We kept DS1 in it for night and naps until he was about 4 months and the Moro reflex had calmed down then he went into a sleeping bag. Good luck, hope trying the sleeping bag works for you xxx

RhubarbAndMustard · 23/04/2016 06:51

Wool maybe see how G is today and speak to a chemist first. They can always redirect you if necessary. Their airways are so tiny I'm sure they get irritated very easily.

J and I have both got shocking colds. I feel awful with a really heavy chesty cough and sore throat. At least I can take medication. Do you think I can give J Calpol? He is 2 months on thurs. Will have to check if there is a minimum weight equivalent.

IndomitabIe · 23/04/2016 08:50

Ooh, wool the potential hay fever sounds rubbish (understatement). I would deffo speak to pharmacist/OOH doc.

Sorry to hear you're both suffering too, Rhu. I recommend saline spray for little snuffly noses. It worked a treat on DS1.

After several days of terrible sleep (up to 4 hours in 3 blocks) last night DS2 slept for 6.5 hours Shock. Now, my app immediately told me I should be waking him after 4hrs, but 1. I was asleep (yay!) and 2. He's 10+lb, I'm pretty sure it's fine! So I managed to get to sleep shortly after him so have had several hours in a row! I feel fabulous! (Well, fabulous-with-enormous-boobs - he hasn't caught up with the milk yet!)

I need to prepare myself for the inevitable disappointment when it never happens again. But I am grateful for it happening at all.

Starting to get little smiles too!

DH is back to work on Monday. I'll be flying solo with school runs. Confused

docmcstuffins1 · 23/04/2016 09:01

Rhubarb you can give calpol earlier than 2 months (they use it in special care on tiny babies). 2.5ml three times a day is the dose in the BNF (drug formulary), it's just not licensed in babies less than 2 months so manufacturers have to put that in the box. Oliver had a couple of doses when he had a temperature with a cold at 4 weeks old.
