Wow french 10-4 is a really good stretch!

No proper exercise for me here either Paper but I am getting out for a walk with the pram every day for 40 mins or so which is better than nothing. Today DS and I went into town to run some errands and our local town is really hilly so it felt like quite a workout pushing him up and down, I worked up a bit of a sweat!

Any news on school places Rhu? We don't have any older DC but it's something that's already on my mind as our local primary is oversubscribed and I watch the local Facebook group with interest each year to see how ridiculously close you need to live to have a chance of getting in!

DS has days of sleeping all day and other days where he's awake all day. Yesteerday was an awake day, today he slept all morning but was awake all afternoon. He's been much less grizzly today though which is a relief as DH is away and I find it so hard when he's grizzly! He has gone to sleep now after his bath (in fact he was practically asleep before I'd finished getting him dressed!) so i should have an hour or two of respite so I can have some dinner before he wakes for another feed.

RhubarbAndMustard · 18/04/2016 20:08

It's been a good day today! My company have offered a bit more to the redundancy package in settlement so am going to take it and run (not life changing but will definitely help); Me DS1 got his first choice primary school place Grin and J rolled over from front to back twice. He screamed the house down afterwards and had a poo - no doubt from the shock.

We are inline for a bad night with the good/crap alternation but I'm on a high (and a few glasses of cheeky Monday night Prosecco) so don't care. Hope all your awakey babies mean a good night sleep.

Purpleprickles · 18/04/2016 21:02

Rhu fab news about school for your ds! It's such a nerve wracking time.

Me nice to see you sounding chirpy today-I'm feeling less emotional too, probably because it was just me today so I did what I needed too without having to sort out dh!

Beaut glad I have reassured you on the dtd front. Is it awful that I don't even feel guilty? I think I'm just too tired.

Can I just officially say as well that I hate 5pm-8pm. It's too hard!!

Paperblank · 18/04/2016 21:04

Just had a lush soak in the bath Grin Martha came in with me for ten minutes and seems to have changed her original opinion which was that baths were evil.

I am sure she weed in the bath; she definitely farted which amused DH greatly as he was hoping she'd follow through!

Today has been a challenge - she's fed every 2 hours and I can't seem to fill her up, she's BF twice (both boobs and for at least half an hour) and FF the rest of thEurope time. If she's not been feeding she's been squawking and crying. Fractious baby = long night Sad

Purpleprickles · 18/04/2016 21:05

Sorry Rhu great news about the improved redundancy package too Thanks

Paperblank · 18/04/2016 21:06

thEurope

Eh??

I bloody hate predictive text!

Poppins27 · 18/04/2016 21:56

Evening all, rhu congratulations on the school front, we found out Dd got in our 1st choice, huge relief as all 3 we applied for weren't our catchment so it was a gamble, but I did voluntary work in chosen school and it really would suit my 'spirited' daughter. I was stupidly relieved and burst into tears...relief and realisation I think!! (Also hormones and sleep deprivation!!)

Beaut i can concur I'm in your club re DTD, I have not helped once, feel really selfish as DP has been so understanding but I
have no urge in that dept at all!! Confused

So so jealous of all these babies going 4-6 hours...were still on 3 if were lucky. Last night we struggled getting DS back to sleep, he gets so congested and sniffly in his Moses basket, cue 2 1/2 hours on my chest then I went to sleep with dd so DS could sleep in bed with DP. Dreading tonight if it's the same...shattered!!

Me624 · 18/04/2016 22:17

Rhu great news about the school for DS and the redundancy package. Poppins glad you got your first choice too!

Well DS has had a fab evening - slept from 6.30-9.15, had a feed and nappy change and has gone straight back to sleep! What a lovely change. So I've had an evening of calm relaxed dinner rather than DH and I frantically stuffing it down so one of us can take DS, watched some TV and chatted to my mum and DH on the phone. Now snuggling down to get to sleep nice and early - see you all around 2am when I'll be checking in for our night feed!

Me624 · 18/04/2016 22:19

Oh and I meant to add ... after my lochia finally slowing enough to a yellowy discharge that I felt able to ditch the pads and having two blissful cotton knicker days, it's now either back or my period is starting Sad I had literally just moved the pads from being out in the bathroom back into a drawer! No such luck ...

Paperblank · 19/04/2016 03:48

Oooh its quiet on here tonight! Hopes that this means the babies are all asleep.

My prediction couldn't have been further from the truth... M has just slept for 5 hrs!! Go Moo!! Mummy loves you Grin

Newfamily2014 · 19/04/2016 04:08

I can make up the night time posting numbers. I'm ready to cry.. Ds had woken every hour since he finished his last feed before bed at 10pm. So that means about 30mins or so blocks of sleep for me- I am shattered. He wakes very grassy and ?reflux and then wants to feed to presumably settle himself. I really doubt he's hungry so much in fact he can't possibly be. This is the worst night of the three awful nights that I thought couldn't get any worse ... But they have...
He was sleeping 3 or 4 hour blocks- what has gone wrong????

marmiteandcheeseplease · 19/04/2016 05:10

Sorry to hear you're having a crap night new - yours sounds like my night last night. This is probably unhelpful but with my first (who was an awful sleeper) I found there was no rhyme nor reason to when she had a good or bad night. It does get better (gradually) but its bloody tough work.

If it makes you feel any better after a similar night to you last night, I've had a much better night tonight with E waking only to feed and not being unsettled. That still means waking at 12.30, 3 and 5 but I'll take what I can get. I've been going to bed early (between 9 and 10) every night to take advantage of her slightly longer early stretch of sleep.

Generally my belief is that its just luck of the draw with how much sleep your baby can do - and apparently I make crap sleepers! DD1 didn't sleep for more than 3 hours till she was at least 6 months old Confused but I know friends whose babies started off poor sleepers waking every hour and then suddenly at 2/3 months just started sleeping through.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 19/04/2016 05:13

Oh I should also say new if you suspect reflux you could try going to the doctors to see if they can prescribe something? Also tilting the cot is supposed to work? We did that last night and E has slept better but I expect for us its a coincidence as I'm not convinced she has reflux, just that she's a rubbish sleeper!

Me624 · 19/04/2016 05:36

DS has had his fairly predictable feeds at 2.15 and now 5.30. Like yours marmite he seems to do a longer early stretch - he will go 5 hours between his last evening feed and first night feed, but then only 3 hours until he wants his next one. So I also have to go to bed as soon as he's down to take advantage of that first block of sleep - I can sometimes get a 3 hour stretch! Last night I kept waking up though anticipating his wakings before they even happened 😕

IndomitabIe · 19/04/2016 07:15

Ooh, good stuff Paper!

Oh no, New. BrewChocolate for you. If you suspect reflux, go and see the GP. It might save your sanity.
We had a similar night yesterday, but DS2 slept 11:30-4:00 last night...

...which would have been great, except DS1 was up at 1:30, 3:00 and 4:00 giving the most ridiculous, melodramatic performance about a sore foot/leg. I understand it probably is sore (he has a touch of hypermobility, this is his main symptom) but it doesn't warrant screaming and yelling like a woman in advanced labour now does it? He does often overreact - we've talked about the "crying wolf" thing but he continues to do it. And every time I have less sympathy. (I know I'm heartless, but he genuinely is putting 90% of it on).

And then when DS2 woke up just before 6 I found myself with him on my left shoulder, grunting and snuffling away trying shift some wind, and DH on my right snoring like a fucking pneumatic drill.

It's going to be nap-central today. I am not getting off that sofa.

Paperblank · 19/04/2016 07:33

New sorry to hear about your bad night you must be exhausted Flowers I agree with the others. Ring the GP and see what they say x

M is another windy baby. She will not burp for love nor money; you spend half an hour rubbing and patting her back for the tiniest burp so we resorted to gripe water which seems to do the trick.

She's been asleep on my chest for an hour or two (she's happier on her tummy - less snuffly) but this morning she's been sticking her leg out behind her, giving it a little shake then farting. She takes after her father...

vroc81 · 19/04/2016 07:42

new and indom. sorry you had a crap night, does anyone else go off to bed the night after a crap night dreading what's to come? That was me last night but she slept 9:30 to 2am and then 3 - 5 and I feel slightly more human..

paper the leg shaking fart made me laugh!! R has woken herself up with hers a couple of times..

MrsElls · 19/04/2016 08:16

Cassidy is still only going 3 hours between night feeds as well, she is good at going back down after so I only have to be awake for the 40 minutes or so that it takes me to feed her but I'm still exhausted Sad. Dh takes ds to nursery three days a week so I could have a lie in if Cassidy lets me but I keep getting up because I want to say good morning to ds before he goes, I really should try to start in bed!

MrsElls · 19/04/2016 09:24

Prolonged broken sleep is really starting to affect me, anyone wasn't to complete the following sentence with things you have done...?

' you know you are sleep deprived when...'

I'll start with...

you know you are sleep deprived when you forget to clean your teeth then when you remember you seriously question whether it is worth the effort!

And

You know you are sleep deprived when you put a t-shirt on then try to put your deodorant on on top, hmm.

Missikat · 19/04/2016 09:54

New, sorry to hear about your bad night. I second seeing your GP re possible reflux. Going onto gaviscon has done wonders for Zach's sleep (because he's not puking up half his feeds and I guess is not as acidy) and he's gone from regularly waking every 1-2 hours to now going 4-5 hours the first stretch then 2-3 on the second one. I feel generally pretty human these days...but equally am prepared for it to all change again.

We also have a very awakey baby at the mo. Over the weekend we were at MILs to introduce him to BIL and family and he was awake other than a couple of quarter hour cat naps from 8am all the way through til 9pm! I was expecting an awful night but he actually then slept for 6 hours, his longest stretch ever! Like you Me I kept waking to check he was ok/anticipating him waking.

A little bit back on the thread we were talking about baby swimming. I started taking DS1 when he was only 9 weeks and he's been going weekly ever since (well he had until Zach came home and now it's kind if impossible which I'm gutted about). It's been amazing tho and he is so confident in the water, will jump in off the side not holding my hands (and we don't use any kind of arm bands etc) and he's not 3 yet. I recommend anyone taking their tiny babies. We ended up taking him to a local pool who do baby and parent sessions rather than water babies/puddle ducks etc as the price is £4 per session rather than about £10 I think!

dobbythedoggy · 19/04/2016 10:40

Sorry to all those who are struggling with lack of sleep. First thing in the morning I am completely evil to be around but touch wood eddy does actually let me get some decent strrches of sleep. His definitely not sleeping through but I've decided by some fluke his down to one night feed waking. He feeds somewhere between 3 and 4 something at the moment and goes down for the night around 9.30 to 10.30, although it was 12 last night. Beyond happy that his stopped feeding at 5 because it just wasn't worth going back to sleep before dh's alarm goes off. Hoping it means he isn't following in dd's footsteps.

IndomitabIe · 19/04/2016 14:38

I have done nothing today! Just watched the entire first series of Grey's Anatomy and fed & cuddled my cute, sleeping baby! Grin

I should have napped

BeautifulLiar · 19/04/2016 17:16

I walked into town today, love sunny days!

Nancy had her 6 week check and is now 9lb 1oz :)

Timetogrowup2016 · 19/04/2016 18:26

Took Calais to baby clinic today. 8 pounds 8 ounces now. :)

Me624 · 19/04/2016 18:50

We had a long walk today too in the sunshine - lovely.

DS is now having a grizzly evening. I think he has trapped wind as he keeps bringing his knees up. It doesn't want to come out though.

I noticed today that poor DS has a sore patch in one of the creases in his lovely thighs. Poor little thing I don't know how long it's been there. I have put some sudocrem on it for now. Will make sure I dry him very carefully after baths. He is also very very spotty on his face and neck. We have our 6 week check on Thursday so I will ask the doctor if there's anything I can put on it. He doesn't seem bothered by the spots but I am, his beautiful face!
