Me sorry you are feeling emotional, if it makes you feel better I am too. Evenings are tricky here as well although she is napping now. E will cry a lot more early evening and it's just hard to do everything and look after her too. I'm also aching all over from holding her which doesn't help.

I've found the weekend more stressful than the week. I think it's because there has been a lot on and I've felt like I've had to be in charge and I'm too tired to be! Ds has also been really quiet and in worried the changes of having a baby in the house are getting to him. We did have a bath together tonight and a good chat. I just feel like I'm neglecting him quite an lot Sad

How much are anyone's 5 week olds smiling? E was smiling in the morning but has hardly smiled for the last two days. I don't know why I'm so hung up on the smile, obviously it's lovely but I find myself thinking is she focussing is she doing the social smile? All the time. I think I just want her to be at the more interactive stage which feels like I'm wishing her life away.

God tiredness is a real recipe for misery isn't it?!

Oh MrsB great choice of outfit! That was E's first outfit! Ds is a huge Star Wars fan and when we told him I was preg we let him pick an outfit, we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl. So when she was born she had to wear that one first!

Purpleprickles · 17/04/2016 21:15

MrsB here she is a few hours old Grin

Oh by the way I am totally flabby, still have my line thingy and not at all interested in dtd or helping dh out. To be fair he is to knackered to care either!

Purpleprickles · 17/04/2016 21:15

Hmm would help if I posted the pic.

MrsBenWyatt · 17/04/2016 21:45

That's a gorgeous pic, Purple. DS1 picked it out for Ted before he was born, too!

About smiles - Ted has been smiling since 4 weeks, and he's smiling lots now at six weeks old, but I don't remember the other two being like that this early on.

I am back in my old jeans, but I have a decent amount of loose skin to tuck in Hmm so I'm only wearing my high-waisted ones at the moment. I'm six weeks post-section now, so I'm back to running and I'm hoping that will help me tone up a bit more. I think a combination of breast-feeding and not having time to eat helps shed weight quickly!

Poppins27 · 17/04/2016 23:07

Aw well done to those back to pre pregnancy weight and in their old clothes....I'm not remotely one of them. Still 1 1/2 stone away from where I need to be despite bf. can fit into old clothes....leggings Blush I can't moan too much, my snacking has been out of control but with dd1 back at nursery now I should have time to make healthy snacks so diet starts tomorrow.

Still haven't got back into exercise with Bertie refusing a bottle he won't settle for DP on an evening so not able to get to the gym Sad The plan is to get an exercise DVD sorted so I can start at home. At a wedding in 4 weeks so absolutely need to shed this chub!!!

Me my DS is also unbearably grizzly around 7-8.30 and it is so so draining!! Luckily for me DP goes to Barcelona for 3 nights on Friday so I have to deal with DS and get Dd to bed in my own at the worst time....did I say luckily....I lied massively!!! Sad

TriJo · 17/04/2016 23:53

I'm in my bigger pre-pregnancy clothes, still have a good bit of weight to get rid of though! Boobs are enormous while I'm nursing too, I wasn't small before but being in the H-J cup range and wearing unflattering non-wired nursing bras isn't helping. I'm only 3 weeks PP though so hopefully will lose another bit soon. Absolutely itching to get back running, I'm really bored of walking.

Tried to DTD with DH yesterday... no go. Ouch. Even with a metric fuckton of lube it wasn't happening.

Newfamily2014 · 18/04/2016 01:35

Hello, 3 weeks in here and still a wobbly tummy too. This is second baby so perhaps takes longer to go away? But still early days.

Just wondering what those with baby's at 3.5weeks are doing over night? How many hours does your lo sleep in between feeds?

Me624 · 18/04/2016 02:53

Ugh I've just changed DS in the middle of his night feed and he peed all over our bed 😕 and his vest, so full outfit change. Everyone is wide awake now including DH who was sleeping in the spare room as he has a very early start in the morning, but DS was not quiet through the outfit change unfortunately so that's scuppered his peaceful nights sleep!

New I think at 3.5 weeks DS was starting to go 4 hours between feeds at night. Now at 6.5 weeks he wil sometimes go 5 and very occasionally 6 but equally often he will still only go 4. I'm praying that the broken nights will end soon!

QforCucumber · 18/04/2016 03:04

new ds is 4 weeks and just started going from 2 hourly to 3. However tonight his midnight feed lasted 1 hour so just started again - shattered. Is your baby ff or bf? I have read ff baby's will go longer than bf ones.

Newfamily2014 · 18/04/2016 03:22

Hi, my ds as (hopefully still is!) the same- sleeping for 4 hour andn3 hour blocks over night. About a week ago we had two nights of double that amount of feeding, if not more, which I put down to a growth spurt and that thankfully went. But yesterday night was awful, up every hour and tonight he's initially slept for 3 hours but Imm up again and he's only slept for an hour :-( He's very windy and that is causing discomfort and I think he might have silent reflux too- aggh!
I can hear such great rumbles of air in his tummy as he lays upright on my at the mo. It's difficult because if it's wind then I need to run his back but if it's reflux that will make things worse. Please give me back the baby that sleeps for 4 hour blocks!!

Newfamily2014 · 18/04/2016 03:23

Yes cforcucumber I'm breast feeding

Purpleprickles · 18/04/2016 03:44

MrsB Ted's smile is gorgeous! Hopefully E will start giving them more freely over the coming weeks. I know from the red book that ds smiled at 5 weeks so similar to her. I can't remember being this hung up about it though.

Just done the first night feed which was 4 hours since the last feed of yesterday. We seem to be getting one four hour gap now at night. New at 3 weeks we were about 3 hours between feeds if lucky. Q I used to believe the bottle fed going longer thing. I know realise it's a lie!

Me I've been caught out with the weeing freely at night. It's a right pain having to do a whole change in the middle of the night isn't it.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 18/04/2016 03:47

new my DD2 is a month old and hasn't gone more than two and a half hours between feeds at night yet! We're up every hour and a half at the moment with her being unsettled and sick (rather than feeding) so not sure what to do.

To add to the awful night I think DD1 is teething again as she woke up from her nap yesterday crying about how she didn't feel well, and she's had terrible nappies. She's woken twice tonight, first time wasn't too bad and DP got her back to sleep quickly but the second time she was very distressed and DP has had to give her calpol and get into bed with her. We are both going to feel wrecked in the morning .

To top it all off I think I'm coming down with a cold! Not ideal 😕

Wow to those of you back in pre preg clothes. With DD1 it was 2-3 months till I was. Think it'll be the same this time. Its weird as its just my belly, no extra weight anywhere else. Oh except my boobs of course! They're currently a 34HH/J depending on how long its been since I've fed! So I'm sure that accounts for some of extra weight but I'm a stone heavier than pre preg so got a fair amount to lose. Have been walking a lot but may need to start proper exercise soon... God knows when I'll find the time though!

IndomitabIe · 18/04/2016 04:57

Morning wideawake club!

I actually went to bed earlier than 1am today! But DS2, who has been doing 4-5hr stretches from 1am, has been up every 2ish hours instead. Fortunately very straightforward feed & back to sleep though.

I still haven't weighed myself, and obviously still have the flabby belly. I was disappointed to find my arse and thighs are enormous and wouldn't fit even into my biggest pre-pregnancy jeans. I've bought a couple of new pairs in a size up so I've got something to wear, but they're still snug around my copious muffin top!

I'm planning on leaving it a week or so more till I start some P90 & the C25k. I'm not a dieter though, and instead have been ravenous! Which won't be helping, but I don't care!

Folks even considering dtd right now are very brave! There is NO chance here till I've at least got a new coil in!

Better try to get some more sleep...!

RhubarbAndMustard · 18/04/2016 04:58

Poor you marmite. That's a tough night.

New at 6.5 weeks J is going anywhere between 4-6 hours, but usually closer to 4. He is ff.

Purple not much smiling here yet, although when he does it's mainly reserved for DS1 who he loves!

Nowhere near getting back into pre pregnancy clothes, although maternity jeans just won't stay on so in a funny middle ground. Its all thighs, bum, tum. I did eat what I liked in pregnancy though so it's my own fault. Have started eating SW recipes, no snacking and hoping to get out running soon. I'm not too bothered and want to loose it slowly so it stays off.

Newfamily2014 · 18/04/2016 05:35

marmite what an awful night for you. Can anyone help you today? I'm awake feeding again. I wonder if this is another growth spurt? But only had what I presumed was one last week or so!! I'm going to be a zombie today looking after my toddler to :-(

BeautifulLiar · 18/04/2016 06:49

Purple I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hasn't been "helping DH out" Blush I started to cry I when I read about others doing that... especially as he has been horny as hell since I gave birth ffs. He's like a bloody dog on heat. Like Indom I'm not going anywhere near until I have a coil fitted... although I can't really do that until I'm sorted down there. To top it off I think I have BV as well!! What?!

Rhu I also ate what I liked while pregnant, and am also now all thighs and arse. I'm sick of leggings and getting quite upset about my body tbh. Oh well.

Marmite I hope you feel a bit better after some Brew today, poor you xx

Nancy has just started to smile, although she's only done a couple for definite. Last night was better with her - I can remember her feeding roughly around 11, 2 and 5. I'm getting more sleep now than when I was pregnant!!

Me I feel EXACTLY the same in the evenings sometimes, I have done with all the children. It's my worst time. I don't know what the answer is. Just try not to think too much and go with the flow. That's very hard for such a control freak like me though!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 18/04/2016 07:23

We've also been getting smiles the past few days but mostly only for me haha . She is getting more consistent with them gradually and gave DP a lovely smile when he left this morning.

Definitely got a cold coming on Sad ugh! Expect my immunr system is wrecked from lack of sleep. DP offered to stay up and hold E at 5pm so I could sleep till DD1 woke up. She's at grandmas today for childcare so only have E to deal with and I will be doing bugger all. May go into town shopping but that's about it. he's just left with her and I've fed E who has just vommed on me. Joy(!)

beaut my DP has also been like a dog on heat since birth and has asked me a couple of times when we can DTD again. I told him at least not till the 6 week check and propbatbly not until I've had coil fitted, which I don't yet have an appointment for and will sort out at the 6 week check. He's been fine about it but it is frustrating for us both tbh, if I felt like sex would be enjoyable I'd have no worries doing it now but given my experience after DD1 I really want to wait a while.

Glad I'm not the only fatty on the thread, though I'm mostly concerned about my stomach seperation tbh. I've also still got an outie belly button from DD1 which I'm expecting to never return to normal and I hate it Sad

RhubarbAndMustard · 18/04/2016 07:29

Anyone else waiting the hear about primary school admissions today for older DC? Really hoping we get our closest first choice.

TriJo · 18/04/2016 08:53

C had his usual 3 night feeds (2am, 4am, 6am) - the last had the fun of a full clothing change and a new sheet for his crib after he peed through everything again...

Taking him for his BCG this morning - he won't be a happy boy with that one :(

1frenchfoodie · 18/04/2016 09:04

Impressed by those back to exercise already, Eloise is 4 weeks today and only exercuse I have done is physio regime for separated stomach muscles. To be fair a lot of core based exercise is out until those are sorted but I've not felt the urge tbh. In pre pregnancy clothes A week after the birth but flabby wrinkly stomach pouch needs tucking into jeans. Yuck but given I looked like I was carrying a basketball I'm surprised it is not worse, skin is surprisingly elastic. Worth it for our sweet baby who slept 10-4 last night and managed to get back off again for 3h after a bf and nappy change. The trade off is grousing/crying for a couple of hours every evening without (so far) fail.

Paperblank · 18/04/2016 09:11

No where near DTD here. We haven't had sex for months!! I think I've forgotten how, but I do miss it Blush

DH is going up the loft to dig out my exercise DVD. I've got so much bagginess going on its awful - it comes with losing a lot of weight quickly; bit of a pisser really.

Very strong Brew to all of you who've been up through the night. M was good last night so I'm not too shattered this morning.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 18/04/2016 15:23

well we're definitely out of the newborn sleepy stage in this house - since waking up at 7 today E napped in her cot for about 30 mins and then again in the sling from 10.30-12.45ish and has been awake ever since. Tried rocking her with white noise on - no joy. Just went for a walk with her in the buggy and she stayed wide awake Confused. Going to have to put her in the sling again which is a shame as I was going to try to nap if she slept in buggy.. feeding her now and was hoping boob was going to send her off but apparently not! DD1 was a crap sleeper day and night and was hoping it would be different this time but she's got other ideas!

vroc81 · 18/04/2016 16:27

I got a 1.5hr nap!!! Yikes when did that sort of thing become exciting?! I'm still catching up from the hideousness of the no sleep Saturday night, last night more bearable as had a couple of 3hr stints until 4am when it was every hour but we have the same here marmite at a month old and she's decided being awake is far more fun and was awake 4am to 1pm with just a couple of naps on me... Although she has let me have a small sleep this afternoon so..

I'm going in to work with her this week though and obviously she's a model baby who sleeps and eats and never vomits right.. Wink

We've had the awakey-baby today too. He's had a couple of short naps, but otherwise been awake since sometime this morning. He's just crashed on SIL. Hopefully he'll sleep a while now.

Good news is that we saw a sensible/nice doctor and got some gaviscon this morning.
