Oh my days marmite....I had to read your post a few times. The talk of diahorrea and getting some on your hand and licking it off....how it smelled sweet....?! Hmm I really must pay more attention!!

Purpleprickles · 12/04/2016 20:30

Haha Poppins me too! I'm so bloody tired tonight I can barely string a sentence together.

Just popping in to place mark really and to say yay to Time for a successful trip out.

Hi to everyone else, sorry not to post properly but I have brain freeze.

dobbythedoggy · 12/04/2016 20:37

suz dd had oral thrush when she was small, which I then got around both nipples. Went back to the gp who said he could prescribe caniston but it would need to be washed off before every feed. The faff free option was to rub dd's medication around my nips it was a major relief also meant some actually got down her.

charley I can second suz's advice, dd's consultant recomeded avoiding using the pram or pushchair and wear her as much as possiable; I used the caboo or wrapped her once she out grew it.

MrsBenWyatt · 12/04/2016 20:54

Charley I cannot recommend the Caboo enough. I have tried about five different types of sling, but this is by far the best. So easy to put on and Ted drops off as soon as he's in it. In fact, I have to be careful to take him out of it from time to time or I think he'd sleep all day!!!

MyNameIsSuz · 12/04/2016 21:19

dobby medicine boobs is a genius idea, I'll try that!

Poppins27 · 13/04/2016 03:12

Wow it's quiet tonight...I do hope it's because (dare I say it) the babies are allowing some sleep?! We've just had our first 4 hour stretch in 5 1/2 weeks and I'm delighted!!!

Watch me try in vain now to get DS to settle in his Moses basket again...wish me luck!!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 13/04/2016 03:29

Wow Poppins 4 hours sounds lovely! Hope DS settles in Moses basket! E has been fine in her bednest for a few days so hoping we've cracked that problem.

Having a better night here so far, E has woken at 12.45 and now 3.20. She went down at five past one so I've had a 2 hour stretch of sleep which is first one in a fair few days. Hoping there are no more feeds after this until half 5/6 but we'll see.

MyNameIsSuz · 13/04/2016 03:51

Sadly not the case here, another all-nighter for us I think!

Crispylicious · 13/04/2016 05:27

A much better night here too! A 4.5 stretch and then a 3 hour one, mostly in his own bed! The poor thing is now moaning and writhing with wind :( I think once his tummy is more used to working, he might be a good sleeper.

suz with DD, the GP told me to put the baby's thrush meds in my nips! So that's a good recommendation.

Metanium is highly regarded in our household too!

Crispylicious · 13/04/2016 05:28

*on my nips, not in

Purpleprickles · 13/04/2016 07:10

Hurray Crispy, Poppins and Marmite for better nights. Suz Brew for you, hope you got some sleep.

E had a good night too, she fed at 2.30 and 6.30 and slept well in between. Dh has been doing the last feed of the day which was 11.30 last night and then bringing her to bed. I've been going up about 10pm so having a sleep of 4-5hrs before the early morning feed has really helped.

Not sure what to do today, we have no plans so I'll probably just go for a walk as it's supposed to be sunny here again.

RhubarbAndMustard · 13/04/2016 07:15

Not a good night here. Bouts of crying every 30-40 mins or so. Yawn!! Not sure if it's the crib or tummy ache as there was a lot of farting going on. Glad some of you got some sleep though. We've had a good run up until now.

Timetogrowup2016 · 13/04/2016 08:18

C had an ok ish night. Didn't really settle properly until after 1am feed.
She fed at 10pm,11pm,1am,3am and 6am.
Off out today but I'm shattered.
Turned around to get dressed this morning and found c crashed out like this . Bless her - at least she gets to sleep !

RhubarbAndMustard · 13/04/2016 09:20

Same for us time. J has decided now is his time to sleep. Little monkeys.

March 2016: the one where Indomitable gives birth...
MyNameIsSuz · 13/04/2016 09:26

Sorry to hear of the bad nights. We had a slightly better night than the one before - two two-and-a-half-hour stretches of sleep - but I'm still pretty exhausted. But WE MADE IT TO PRESCHOOL ON TIME!!! I'm so stupidly proud of us. Really feeling it though, we walked there with the baby in the sling, I am not as strong as I used to be! Called into the pharmacy on the way home to ask about the thrush treatment and he said I should be using something so I'm now waiting on a call back from the doctor. Fingers crossed I can get sorted soon, feeding is killing me.

Poppins27 · 13/04/2016 10:24

Aw look at all that hair rhu...scrumptious!!

Me624 · 13/04/2016 10:32

Aw bless Rhu! Gorgeous!

We had an ok night. But only because we gave DS a dummy again. If that's what it takes then that's what it takes ... I don't know where my previously contented baby has gone! He only used to cry really when he was hungry. Now he's crying a lot more. I think it's because as he gets older he is sleeping less and then he gets overtired. I feel like such a crap mother!

DH is fed up of me and can't understand why I'm being so hard on myself. He is away on business tomorrow night and I'm dreading being on my own on the one hand. On the other hand we are snapping at each other so much at the moment with all the tiredness that it may be a good thing to have a night away from each other!

BeautifulLiar · 13/04/2016 12:08

I'm really nervous today. I'm STILL really itchy and sore down there. It's been five weeks now. I've seen a nurse and bought three different Canesten treatments but there's been no difference. So today I've booked into the local clinic. Really scared about potentially getting my bits out. If it's a male doctor I'll have to walk out. Hope Nancy doesn't cry!

Purpleprickles · 13/04/2016 12:46

Rhu and Time gorgeous babies!

Suz well done on being out on time. And yay to the better night.

Me when we had ds me and dh were at each other's throats constantly. I really think having a baby is the most stressful thing you can do in life (and the most wonderful), the worry about their welfare can be so overwhelming and the adjustment to a couple is huge. I have no real helpful advice as we just muddled through and we got there, we really did. My dh initially seemed to think stuff should be easy and natural for me but I think looking back that was a bit of male bravado from him as I also think he might have had the male version of pnd a few months in. Anyway I can honestly say things get better and it is all really normal.

Beaut Good luck. I've been having similar issues but this week it feels a bit more comfortable down there. I've used canestan too and still find I have to be really gentle wiping as if I'm not it can flare up. Sorry if that's tmi-was aiming for reassuring Grin

Well I'm feeling smugly organised which means I'll be back on later wailing that the day has gone to pot. E has been very happy this am so I made the dinner for tonight because trying to do anything more than shove something in the oven between 5-7 is a no no. Then she slept on me so I caught up on some tv and now I've managed to transfer her to the bouncy chair and gobble a sandwich before her next feed. It's all going to go wrong now isn't it?Hmm

Oh my phone did temporarily break this am but the man at vodaphone told me how to reboot it and I cried down the phone with relief Blush So it's not all Disney happiness in the house of Purple Grin

dobbythedoggy · 13/04/2016 13:21

Think eddy and I are going to be joining you in the oral thrush club suz. His been fussy feeding for a while which we throught was due to his cough. But after discovering loads of milk spots had a good look in his mouth and his got white spots on his cheeks so must be sore. Gp this afternoon for him.

Have had really difficulty emptying both breasts properly since carrying dd on my back on Sunday. She's well over 2 stone now so was convinced I compressed things to much with the wrap. Poor Eddy just couldn't seem to drain them and I've been worrying about developing mastitis. Finally noticed multiple milk spots and managed to hand express most of them out. It was like popping out a cork, so much milk shot across the bathroom like a never ending fountain. Ended up leaning over the sink doing breast compressions until both breasts drained. Kicking myself now for not saving it for the freezer but the relief was too good to think of anything else.

beaut fingers crossed you get a female doctor and get sorted asap.

MyNameIsSuz · 13/04/2016 13:41

Oh no dobby! I hope you get sorted soon, this is horrible, I'm so sore and Sylvie is so miserable! Sorry you're having the same problem. I've spoken to a doctor and got some pills to take in addition to the baby's drops, so hopefully it will clear up soon.

I hope you get sorted too Beautiful.

My dh had a similar attitude last time me, he just didn't get how physically hard it all was on me, just saw me staying at home while he went to work and felt like I had it easy. He's been so much better this time, maybe because he saw it all improve as ds got older and realised how hard it was in comparison. Or because I was more assertive and told him frankly how hard I'd found it last time and what support I needed. Definitely agree with others that it puts a huge strain on you both!

Me624 · 13/04/2016 18:24

I'm glad my DH isn't the only one. Suz I really think mine thinks I have it easy at home all day too while he is working hard. He doesn't seem to appreciate that I'm doing every day on roughly 4 (not consecutive!) hours of sleep a night! And that actually it's not all easy. I think he might have the male version of PND too - I think that's the reason he's finding work so stressful. But he dismisses it when I suggest it!

Beautiful i hope the clinic is ok. I have been a bit itchy too but I realised it was the scented always pads that were causing it! As soon as I switched to a non scented other brand it seems to have gone away. I'm really fed up of my lochia though - it's been 6 weeks and not stopped completely yet! It's yellowy brown and light now rather than proper bleeding but I just want it to stop, I hate wearing pads every day for 6 weeks!

I don't think my stitches have healed up properly. It doesn't feel quite right so I had a look with a mirror today and mostly along the scar it looks fine but right at the top of the cut, right by the entrance to my vagina, it seems like there's a little bit that's open. I have my 6 week check with the doctor next week (at 7 weeks as they couldn't fit me in this week!) and I will ask him to have a look. It's a male doctor but after the carnage of the birth I'm really not fussed anymore by who has a poke around down there!

Poppins27 · 13/04/2016 21:26

Me my DS is a similar age to yours (born 4th March) and I am completely in the same boat. For the first 2-3 weeks he was adorable...this week he has been especially in adorable. If he's not at my boob or asleep he's is the grumpiest boy around. I'm really not feeling the love right now...but just keep thinking (hoping!!) that come week 8 he will improve, that's when I remember feeling happier with Dd1?! And as for the dummy...I REALLY wish DS would take one as I think it would give him the comfort he wants.

Whilst were talking TMI, I have my 6 week check on Friday, my lochia has cleared up, but I'm still having to wear pads as I'm leaking wee Blush I had no idea until I tried going pad less but it's not like I'm nit able to hold my urges to go to the toilet, it's just random leaks. I leaned over to make the bed and dribbled a bit. Is this normal or should I mention it to the GP whilst frantically squeezing my pelvic floor muscles?! I didn't have anything like this after my first birth...but quite mortified?!

And also does anyone know if the GP will weigh DS at the check up?! Just asking as if not I'll pop to the clinic tomorrow that's all but don't want to mess about if it will be done again the following day?!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 14/04/2016 04:10

Terrible night here, E slept from 7-10 last night so only had evening feeds at 6.30 and 10.30. Had been up every hour so since 12.30 Sad lesson learnt - no evening mega naps from now on.

Breast thrush sounds awful suz and dobby hope it clears up soon. I'm still battling with Raynaud's which is giving me pain in between feeds but it is getting better. I still haven't got the latch right on my left hand side so that often hurts but we are getting there gradually. E is four weeks old today and I was really hoping Bf would be sorted by now! Still, it has improved massively and feel like we are on the home straight at last.

Me624 · 14/04/2016 04:56

Sorry you have had a bad night marmite. Well done for persevering with bfing - I'm sure E will get it soon on your left side.

Wow DS is really learning night and day I think! Last night he fed at 5pm, went to sleep about 7.30pm, and stayed asleep until a feed at 11.30pm. He was back down by 12.30 and slept until just now(, 4.45am!

I'd love to say this means I got loads of uninterrupted sleep but I didn't! I woke up when he stirred around 2.30 (he went back to sleep himself) and then I think because I was anticipating him being up soon I kept waking every half hour or so to check the time. But it feels like real progress, it's the second night in a row where he is going 5-6 hours between feeds.
