Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Lunavix, We have a really really poor daytime routine - there isn't really one As she is my third I really thought I should have done better! Oh.. though we do do school run everyday with DS2, so she gets two lots of walks. It goes like this...

She wakes between 3.00 and 5.00 and co-sleeps from then on, feeding on and off. I get up at 715 ish to get DS up.
Drag her from bed at 8.15, leave house at 8.30 (never happens, always late) Day, random, demand BF, naps downstairs... then afternoon school run.
Evenings are now so much better though. Babyrice 6 or 7 ish. Bath at 7.30 - 8ish, then she throws a fit until she is dressed and plugged in. When full, she will go to bed, whether asleep or not, with a radio playing white noise quietly in the room...
Anybody else done their profiles yet?

olivo · 19/01/2007 08:57

morning!
luna - nice to hear from you. regarding routines and sleeping, we have a strict(ish) night one. bath @6.15, story, bfeed and bed by 6.45 at latest - sometimes starting at 6 if she's not slept much in day. she goes to bed usually awake unless she's really tired. she sleeps till around 8 but with 2 or 3 feeds in night. during the day, the naps depend on whther we're in or not. if we're out, she'll sleep in car or pushchair as and when but if we're in, i put her in her cot at about 10ish (45 mins or so) and again about 2 ( an hour and a half) i never wake her unless it gets past about 4.30. sorry about this essay!

nwgreenmum - which washable nappies do you use? we're looking at maybe moving on to them soon.

snow - and at dh's cousin and the branflakes! mental note not to accept feeding advice from my gp, just in case

holly's trick of the day is now to roll right over whilst keeping her thumb in her mouth! she looks so proud of herself! she is so cheeky in the morning when she's had plenty of sleep - i LOVE it!!

nwgreenmum · 19/01/2007 10:37

Olivo, we have bamboozles from tots bots, though she has almost grown out of them (I need to buy some new nappies !eek!). I loved them, and they seem softer than terry nappies, but they do take quite a long time to dry. We also have Kushies, which are an all in one, so are very grandparent friendly - not that any grandparent has had a go! DH doesn't need easy nappies, thankfully, and is even quite a good folder of flat nappies (we used muslins in the first couple of weeks when she was so diddy). I really really really like using re-usables and could go on about it for ages so I am going to make myself stop now!

PinkTulips · 19/01/2007 10:46

lol nwgreen, i'm a bit evangelical about reusables too, and bf, and blw...... i have to restrain myself at mom and toddler group or i'm afraid i'll be branded 'the boring hippy chick'

luna, no AF here either so your not the only one. not expecting mine til 9 months if that soon (i had stopped night feeding dd at 6 months but i won't be with caleb).

Snow, your dp's cousin sounds like such a spacer cornflakes and cow's milk.... did you keep your cool? i'd have gone ballistic, lol!

well dp is refusing to get out of bed again... sulking as i suggested that seeing as we're flat brok him taking money to bugger off to his parents for a few days for a little break wasn't really on, especially as it's dd's birthday on wed and knowing him 'something' would happen and he'd be late back. twat!

dreamydowler · 19/01/2007 12:53

morning ladies lol pink at your dp bloody typical male. nwgreenmum Im not far from you in Ellesmere Port near the cheshire oaks we could meet up for coffee sometime if you like I have 7 kids so please tell me what this routine thing is all about lol my house is permanently noisy and messy things get done as and when and babies sleep when its quiet enough to do so lol Im still full of cold so house is even messier than normal at the moment dreading Sophie-jane catching it but I suppose its inevitible Ive done my profile and added a couple of photos too

BigHotMama · 19/01/2007 13:18

Ah Pink your not boring at all! You sound hippy but I think thats a cool thing and if I were you I'd go kick your dp out of bed.

NWGreen, I tried re-useables only once but think it was too late as ds was 16lb and the nappies were 9-16lb so he wet through them so am sticking with my disposables. I'm just useless as I have l the good intentions of using reuseable then forget I bought them and they've been in the wardrobe until last week ops

Oh so thats what it means, ha! I've not had an AF either? Will feel wierd actually having one, its been so long.

Ok for those of you who stopped Bf what happened with your boobs? I stopped altogether last week as didnt think it was worth letting Jackson suck for 10mins a day. They never got engorged so thought milk had pretty much dried up? 10 days later they started leaking and are very sore to touch? WTF?

Lunavix quiche is really scrummy, quick too. Just cook a batchelores pastan sauce, add cooked mushroom, onions, sweecorn, broccoli, half tub of cottage cheese, whisk 5-6 eggs and pour over top and cook for 20 mins then add grated cheese on top mmmm. The Lasagne crisps sound good? How you make them?

TBH we have got Jackson into a really good bedtime routine now, he has 4 x 1/2-1hr naps throughout the day, then he has rusk n milk at 9pm and usually in bed for 10-10.30, and he has started sleeping through till 8am, also likes to sleep on his front now, only murmers for few seconds for his dummy. We havent fed him through the night for about 6 weeks now, I havent even heard him during the night over the last few nights bless.
Its scary though as I often wake up wondering if he's still breathing so get up to check anyway.

And Olivo I agree that morning cheekiness is priceless isnt it? Jackson gets so excited when I go into his room, he rubs his face into the sheets and starts squealing loudly.

Eeny, enjoy Alex while he is this small as soon he'll have you chasing after hima round the house and you'll be saying ' I wish he was still small and would stay put' we'll all be losing loads of weight then ha!

Lol at your new cricket friend Snow.

Thanks for info on Courgette Yellow. Just a question for those who are weaning, how many spoons do you give your lo? Not sure wether am giving too much? Sometimes I give 15-20 spoons but not full spoons? Also do you give it with the milk feed or as a seperate meal? TIA x

eenybeeny · 19/01/2007 17:10

Yes I know you are all right about being patient! I should be. I am just so excited about everything new with Alex.

Welcome to the board nwgreenmum!

I have bambino mio nappies and still havent got the courage up to use them so Alex is in disposables. My laundry pile is enormous and I just dont want to add to it!

Pink it sounds like your DP needs to do some growing up! I know he isnt that old but hey, he has a family to look after!

Luna Alex goes to bed every night at 7. Sometimes he has a bath before bed sometimes just a bottle and a story!

olivo · 19/01/2007 18:49

hi again!thanks for your words of wisdom on nappies, have been given the name of a guy here to contact about them so will see what he suggests too.

am quite excited and apprehensive as i have accepted a day's supply at the school where i work for next week. It will be the first time i have left dd for anything longer than an hour but dh is taking the morning off and my pil will have her for the afternoon. tbh, it'll be good to have a trial run and the cash will come in very handy too - just abit scared as i havent been in the classroom fpr so long! I twont be in my dept though so i'll more be supervising work set by the teacher who is away.

going to open a bottle of wine tonight i think...

dreamydowler · 19/01/2007 19:20

that will be great olivo have been thinking about it myself as pretty skint too. I think supply is all I could cope with at the moment teaching full time food technology and running my mad house would just about do me in. Im going to look at invigilating over next few months

nwgreenmum · 19/01/2007 21:49

Hey to Pink - just really want to do BLW, I have started a thread under weaning and would love you to join me

dressedupnowheretogo · 19/01/2007 23:49

hi welcome newgreen?

well have had an awful day really really awful im sufferring with anxiety and have not been able to go into work today am feeling sick and dizzy just typing this dont really know whats causing it really

went to docs today to get my pill script i brought my weight up coz nurse brought it up and he too told me im over weight and he'll check me in 6 months never mind im bf exclusively and cj is 23 weeks but hey ho

umm am wondering if nurse anf docs comments could be causing anxiety as im having major shakes typing

sorry to go on any ideas email me

nwgreenmum · 20/01/2007 00:00

Hey booby - I can't email you coz I don't have your email, but hey hun, I feel for you.
I used to live nr nottingham in Lowdham. Let me know if you need to chat and I will try to get my phone number to you somehow

PinkTulips · 20/01/2007 00:02

booby

{{{{hugs}}} don't let them get to you... your losing tonnes of weight babe and you'll keep a fair bit on til you stop bf... the body keeps reserves for the baby.... or so i'm told!

stumpydoglooksforwardtospring · 20/01/2007 00:04

hope you feel better soon booby. i've had a strange day- we had an appt. with dr mushtak this morning who will operate on reuben within the next few months at the evelina children's hospital in london. he will have a pyeloplasty to his right kidney (was first diagnosed with hydronephrosis at the 20 week scan). i'll be pleased when it's all over, but he will still have to take antibiotics for another year or so, and have more tests. he was weighed today and is 16lb7oz
lunavix-he does have a sort of bedtime routine. because his sister goes to bed at 7.30ish, we put the lights off in the living room at that time, put him in his sleeping bag and bf him, and he's got the idea now.
the wind's not too bad in jersey (yet)
hope to do my profile soon. i'm off in the car now to take my grandson, adam, back to his home. i've been babysitting and he's lovely

nwgreenmum · 20/01/2007 00:17

Hey booby, just looked at your photos, your LO is edible
[whisper] I also saw that you like take that - you know Jason Orange nearly came to my wedding, and actually nearly helped me for my last dress fitting

olivo · 20/01/2007 10:58

aw booby - sorry you're feeling anxious again. i gnore the weight thing - you've done such a good job to still be bf, i totally admire you. PT is right about your body hanging onto the weight while you're feeding (i have to keep reminding myself of that too as i'm caarrying lots of extra weight, but i'm stopping bf over the next couple of weeks ) - its like a primative survival thing i think.

dd has got a cold, little feeble cough and a very snotty nose. she doesnt have a temp and actually seems ok in herself, just very bunged up so not sleeping well either. what are your recommendations, oh wise ones ?

stumpy - must be worrying about reuben's condtion but they seem to be sorting him? i have to say, i've been pretty impressed with the hospital here; they've been great with dd and the staff on robin ward are lovely.

off to have my haircut today - good timing, couldnt have shown my face at work next week looking like i do !!(mental note to self to check for sick over my shoulder when i go as well!)
catch up with yo guys later!

dressedupnowheretogo · 20/01/2007 12:55

well still dont feel right so am off work today

reading about reuban sort of put things in perspective as cj is so well and healthy

nwgreen dont tell nbg re jason she will kill you how do you know him?

my email is jayneallport81@hotmaildotcodotuk

thanks for reassurance re weight but i do still need to lose quite abit

am only a 16/18 too

dressedupnowheretogo · 20/01/2007 14:13

put a few pics on my profile too btw

NbgsYellowFeathers · 20/01/2007 15:02

nwgreenmum
not fair not fair not fair! If you see him just say that you know someone who wouldnt mind being helped into her clothes everyday of the week and he can pass that on to the rest of the guys too Did you also say that your hubby works in North Yorks? I'm in North Yorks, where abouts does he work?

Booby, hugs to you. Will chat to you on msn. xxx

Ellis is still having bits of food although not masses of it. I think it'll be better when he can hold and feed the food himself cos I think he's that kind of baby.
Still not sleeping either and I am getting so so rundown as a result.
I've taken on another project now and am decorating the spare bedroom so that dd can move into it and Ellis can have her room. Will keep me busy!

eenybeeny · 20/01/2007 19:32

Hi all! How are you? I am pretty stressed at the moment, dont know where our money is going to come from when my maternity allowance runs out in a few weeks.

Booby hon I am really sorry you arent feeling well. I need to lose weight too. I Am starting a new diet on Monday would you like me to email it to you?

Stumpy we will keep lots of good thoughts for Reuben. You are a great Mum and very brave.

oops meant to post more but have to go dinner is ready. Love to all!

stumpydoglooksforwardtospring · 21/01/2007 08:09

thanks for all your kind thoughts re reuben. luckily it's a problem which can be put right and there are no symptoms now and it's not dangerous unless he gets a urinary infection ( that's why he takes antibiotics).

olivo -have you got a nose aspirator ? and i've also found the hospital v good. the only prob is that they lost some of the papers for a few weeks (for a mag test) and we were going to complain. however, when i thought it over i realised it's just the sort of thing that can happen to anyone, but my dh got angry and now there is a very tense atmosphere between him and dr malpas and dr mushtak

btw reuben does that thing now - every time i bf him in public he stops every minute or so to look around and smile at everyone. of course they look back to smile and see my boobs hanging out. it's hardly discreet
