Just popping in while at work to say hi (don't tell the boss). Sorry I can't reply to everyone but just to say the BLW book deffo says they should have milk before being offered food. DS mostly throws his food on the floor and BLW is stressing me out a bit so spoon fed him an Ellas earlier, might change to a mixed approach.

Also big jumparoo lovers here, don't know how we'll cope when he grows out of it.

Hope everyone is having a good week. We're off to Center Parks tomorrow, woohoo! Catch you soon Augmums x

Frolicacid · 18/02/2016 16:12

Good afternoon mugabeans!
Things are improving in the frolic house. After a few days of staying in due to the chest infection, we have been able to go outside today without Ds coughing. It's a beaut of a day here and a stomp around around the shore was what we all needed, especially the dog.

Ds is exactly the same loves, after dropping a feed last week due to smashing it on the purées, he is now firmly back in the I love boob camp. Stroking and smiling at them like he's worried they might leave him.
i hope you survive all the running around tonight! How are your teleporting skills?

Thanks penguin, he's much better today. We also have a roller who is frequently found licking the skirting boards or dog bed!

coconut, snap! Ds has been drooling through several bibs a day since December, but still no teeth. No hurry while he's still on the boob I suppose 😬

I hope the nurse is helpful mzzf. Hot cross buns? Now you're talking....

ruby, I think you'd get plenty of use out of a jumperoo stop. Ds loves it, but hasn't really got the whole jumping thing yet!
Have a look at local Facebook swap sell pages, there seems to be loads on ours.

I have a snoozing baby and no remote or drink. Do I risk transfer or stay where I am?

Frolicacid · 18/02/2016 16:13

Missed a page! I hope work is ok clstow. But, more importantly, have a fab holiday 🙂

randomsabreuse · 18/02/2016 18:47

Hi all. Scary couple of days. DH has major health scare, still at tests stage though. Also denial a bit but last night I failed at sleeping when F did. Only parents know in real world so keeping it off Facebook. GP being fantastic and it's all going really quickly - x-ray results Monday, CT Tues, results weds and biopsy attempt tomorrow!

Have sorted a prescription for formula in case we need to use babysitters as weaning is going nowhere - the only thing she consumes is lettuce and I can't express enough reliably - can usually manage enough for a music rehearsal/concert over 2 days of expressing so would probably take a week to express enough for a half day so gp decided to prescribe in case - haven't got time to deal with reaction to cows milk protein if she is cmpi- highly suspicious but not proven as yet.

Tried purees/ baby rice - spoons are rejected unless empty in which case they are good toys so will have to try her on formula to top up what I can express!

Also bought some vitamin D drops. We're both very fair but it's not like there's much sun around this time of year.

Drooling not too bad here but her back molars seem to be on the move - some sharpish bits of gum when she chews a finger.

Definitely considering a jumperoo - have something similar but doesn't look as bouncy and she loves bouncing with us holding her.

Frolic I'd risk a transfer, can't cope with being pinned unexpectedly with nothing to do!

kbro79 · 18/02/2016 19:39

random that sounds horrobly stressful. Really hope all is ok. Will be thinking of you Flowers

EffinIneffable · 18/02/2016 19:40

Gosh random you and DH must be so worried. In my experience the NHS tends to be really good in cases of actual alarm. It's very difficult while you're waiting for results and don't know exactly what's going on. Great that you have a plan for DS to be looked after if you need to be away too.

Hot cross buns? With butter and a slice of cheese? Phwoar.

We have a space saver jumperoo, DS is only now really getting into it. He also loved my friends' baby Einstein - no jumping action but more toys to fiddle with.

Ds is still not actually eating much, either finger food or purees, and doesn't seem to make much difference how recently he's bf. We were going down the blw route too, clstow but have given some purees too as I'm too impatient for him to 'get' it.

Ds has dry skin on his cheeks too, think teething had made it worse. Aveeno is da bomb for all his other eczema patches, and we bathe him in just water.

coconut ds is a strictly 40-min napper too. Except occasionally when I massively overheat him

Think I saw every hour on the clock last night. I'm still vainly hoping it's teeth related and will pass quickly as it was so nice to get a couple of 3 hour stretches - who knew that would count as the height of luxury!

I'm off to a gym class tomorrow - ds is coming and will stay in the pram and I'm very dubious whether he'll accept this! Either he'll be awake in which case he'll want interaction or he'll be tired and grumpy or will probably be woken up of he's already asleep. I need one of those clockwork babies so I can plan around him!

Battery is about to die so gonna post and run, sorry for those I've missed!

Tindel · 18/02/2016 20:17

Thinking of you random, hope it gets sorted soon. It's reassuring when the NHS kicks into gear and you get tests and results quickly.

frolic I had a sleeping baby on me who kept stirring every time I tried to move from under him, so fed him on and off for over an hour and a half. DH then tried to move him into his cot and he's currently going ballistic. Was really hoping I could get an early night, but it's not looking good...

Frolicacid · 18/02/2016 20:30

Oh god random. I hope you're all ok. Will be thinking of you 💐

Snap tindel! Ds WAS asleep in bed. He's done exactly what he did last night. Screams, big poo, big smiles. He's currently trying to lick the sofa feet Confused

MaGratgarlik1983 · 18/02/2016 21:19

Evening all. Random that sounds really scary but glad it's under control, thinking of you all. Frolic glad you're all feeling better and getting out. Loves hope you managed a sit down amidst all the activity! Clstow hope work was ok.

Such a busy day today. Got DS weighed as he's been ill and as expected he's only put on a little bit in the last 2 weeks. Milk intake has gone up now though. Then went to this charity coffee morning before meeting a friend for cake. Fun but tiring!

Re: weaning. DS has got on so far with single flavour purees so gave him a mixed Ellas today which seemed to go down well. Doing baby porridge for breakfast. Going to try yoghurt and cheese soon as he's six months tomorrow. Then toast and pasta. Then meat...that's the plan anyway I think...

CraftyPenguin · 18/02/2016 21:25

Kbro DD was fussing at the boob today and wouldn't take it. I was hungry so we went ahead and had lunch anyway and she had an utter meltdown. So I think milk before meals definitely works for us!

Coconut Did you get out in the sunshine in the end? Hope you're feeling happier. I'm making a giraffe hat with the brown wool. I don't think it's very giraffe-y but it's for Dh’s Nan and he thinks it looks like a giraffe and that she'll like it!

Mzzf How did the Dr's go? DDs eczema on her tummy is looking better already from her cream. Her face is still bad though.

Ruby I'd recommend a Jumperoo. I don't think it's too late as DD only really got the hang of hers about a month ago.

Tindel Hope you feel better.

Clstow Enjoy your holiday!

Thinking of you Random. Hope everything is ok with your dh Flowers

Frolicacid · 18/02/2016 21:32

magrat, how's the hand, foot and foof? All better?
Ds does much better with mixed purre's too. Cheese sauce with veggies was going down really well before the lurgy.

randomsabreuse · 18/02/2016 21:36

Thanks guys. We'll get through it somehow!

F seems to be a savoury type person. Thus far she likes crispy duck, lettuce and will suck cucumber. Nose very much turned up at pear, banana licked off finger but not often. Need to start with more veggies but generally her thieving stuff off my plate is more successful than special food for her...

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 18/02/2016 22:51

Sorry to hear your news random hope you get through the diagnostic phase quickly and get some (good) answers.

clstow we are big fans of a mixed approach to weaning here, it definitely doesn't have to be all or nothing blw. Grumpy 1 used to like finger food for lunch and spoon food for tea which worked for me. Hope work is going well this week, have a good holiday 😀

Got to dash.... Grumpy baby alert!!

randomsabreuse · 19/02/2016 05:20

Flipping hate night feeds atm. Too much time to think and getting back to sleep is a nightmare! So of course we have got worse at sleeping. Meh

loveandsmiles · 19/02/2016 06:38

Spent last 2 nights with babyloves lying on top of me, boob in mouth - not ideal but at least I get to sleep!

mzzf your sleep sounds like it's going great just now. You put me in the mood for hot cross buns - went to M&S and got chocolate and fudge ones - delish!😋

ruby babyloves sits in jumperoo but can't move yet, though loves it when we bounce it for her. My other DCs have been in it up to 18-24 months previously so I am sure you will get a lot of use out of it. They seem to sell well too when you are done with it.

clstow hope work is going well. Enjoy Centre Parcs!

frolic glad someone else has a baby that treats boobies as their best friendGrin. It's hilarious how babyloves coos, smiles and strokes them as if she has been deprived because I put some purée in her mouth instead!

random what a worrying time for you - stay strong X

effin hope DS sleeps for you at the gym. When I go to Mumafit, babyloves is usually awake but there is so much going on 20 mums jumping around like idiots that it seems to keep her entertained😂

I encountered two acts of kindness yesterday that made my day - the first was that my DD1 phoned to say she had lost her bus pass. Much raging at her from me telling her to be more careful and I would now have to make a trip to bus station to get another one - later in day a lovely gentleman came to the door, having found it blown into his garden a few streets away. Then I went to Sainsburys. Lady in front had 2 trolley loads of shopping. After she paid she turned to me and said "what beautifully behaved children (toddler & baby) and would I like her money off coupon for my shopping". The coupon was for £4.97 (what she would have saved had she shopped in Asda) - I said no as too much but she said she wouldn't be back until next month and it would have run out by then so she would rather a young??!! mum used it - could have kissed her for calling me young - never mind the voucher😂😂😂. Lovely day filled with kindness❤️❤️.

Dozygirl · 19/02/2016 06:46

Clstow I've gone down the mixed feeding route. Dd is desperate for food and blw just doesn't fill her up because it's a lot harder for her. She devoured a whole ellas kitchen pouch yesterday. I'm too lazy to do make purees and proper food. I hate being a grown up. I need a personal chef.

ruby242 · 19/02/2016 06:59

Good morning!

Thanks for the jumperoo advice, didn't realise they can be used for such a long time so sounds like we will be buying one!

Random so very sorry to hear your news. I wish there was something we could say to make it better but sending good vibes and hope for good news soon

Tindel hope you are feeling better today? So hard to be unwell looking after a baby

Clstow enjoy centre parks! DH used to go all the time as a child so is looking forward to us all going as a family in the future. Let us know how it goes 😀

Effin how was your gym class-did he stay happily in the pram? Would love to do something like that but DS definitely wouldn't accept staying in the pram!

Frolic thanks for the idea, cheese sauce with veggies sounds like something DS would like!

Love, what a lovely day to be had-love when people restore your faith in humanity!

Happy Friday all, almost the weekend 😀

Tindel · 19/02/2016 08:32

Morning all! Feeling a bit better this morning - was having a minor freak-out that my Crohn's is flaring up and I will have to stop bf, but have done a little reading, got a relatively decent night's sleep and have things a bit more in perspective this morning.

loves how lovely - I'm a big fan of little acts of kindness, it reminds me I need to do one at some point very soon. Also chocolate and fudge hot cross buns? I definitely need to investigate!

dozy I hate being a grown up as well at times. I used to love cooking, but I don't have the time or the energy right now. DH cooked last night, which was thoughtful, but he rushes, doesn't do following instructions and the results are interesting, to say the least.

We now have our highchair, so am trying to put J in it once a day while I'm eating so he can see what all the fuss is about. He really enjoyed it yesterday - he likes being involved in what's going on and being able to see everything, so this seems like a winner so far!

clstow DH is a centre parcs fan, but I've never been, let us know how you get on.

Happy Friday everyone x

Mugabe Nights: sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your (sleep deprived) pain!
Coconut0il · 19/02/2016 10:07

How scary random Glad you have a good GPFlowers

crafty did manage to get out, felt much better for itSmile Jealous of you being able to make a giraffe hat! I can just about sew a button on!

I love hearing stories like that loves reminds you that there are kind people out there. Spoke to one of our neighbours yesterday, her dog had got out over night and someone a few streets down had taken her in all night. So kind.

Yes to the personal chef dozy Could also do with a personal shopper and personal trainer if possible. I hate being a grown up too, would love someone to look after me.. my mom's not really that type and DP needs as much looking after as DS1.

Glad you're feeling a bit better tindel and frolic. Amazing what a bit of sleep and fresh air can do SmileYou're both braver than me risking moving a sleeping baby! If DP not here to pass me things I have to have remote, phone, water and a chocolate all next to me before feeding starts Grin

clstow Enjoy centre parcs!

DS2 loves the jumperoo ruby . Definitely our best buy. He's been in that more than he's been in his cotShock

effin DS is still bf just as much with food. He's not really swallowing much yet, I feel a bit sad that he will start dropping feeds...

DP on a half day today so could do something nice but think we will have to brave a food shop as the cupboards are looking a bit bare. Bread sticks and Nutella anyone?!

Tindel · 19/02/2016 11:01

Coconut breadsticks + Nutella = giant KP dip, surely? Used to eat them that way when I had a summer job in Italy

FattyNinjaOwl · 19/02/2016 11:37

Hi all. I have read back but can't remember a bloody thing. But I'm still here

randomsabreuse · 19/02/2016 15:55

Tindel I just read your post as "coconut bread sticks" which sounded intriguing and rather tempting! Worthy of the great British bake off!

I have now picked up my tin of prescription formula and am feeling pretty bloody clueless!

Basically going to try in the morning so plenty of time to deal with any reaction.

Will try to have a bottle of EBF ready as well. Don't want her to reject the bottle full stop!

1 scoop per 30 ml so makes sense to make up a small bottle for the first time say 3 scoops as I'll be there (other side of house probably best).

Aware we have massively short circuited usual procedures for this kind of stuff - this time last formula wasn't on my radar as something I fancied the faff of!! I just think we need to respect the neighbours' (and the grandparents' eardrums, the HVs will worry if we cross the 9th percentile and I can't express enough even when I manage to do it every day - she generally requires 2 sessions worth for one feed when I go out!

EffinIneffable · 19/02/2016 17:55

Well we both survived the gym class! Though will have to see how I feel tomorrow! Ds was pretty chilled and the owner of the gym did a bit of light entertainment and dummy replacement. Don't think he'd sleep through the music and spectacle so timing will be hit and miss next time we go. Feels so good to take some exercise and use my body for something other than lugging ds about. So I've had two sickly but worth it cream eggs to celebrate Grin. (they were on 3 for 2 and I wanted to get one for DH too... So there was one 'spare')

Last night was also better again... Just three wake ups. Dare I hope for a repeat? Nah, of course not, these babies like to keep us guessing.

Too busy to offer ds lunch today, and he eats so little it doesn't seem to matter. Gonna try him with some mashed up fish, potato and broccoli when he wakes up from his nap.

Glad things are feeling a bit better tindel.

Hope you got to put your feet up for a moment magrat sounds like a whirlwind day.

CraftyPenguin · 19/02/2016 18:12

Argh I'm so annoyed.

I changed my profile picture on Facebook to one of me, dh and dd . I think it's a nice photo, not our best but still nice. Well, so I thought. I just like that it captures how happy me and dh are as this week has been lovely for us after a very upsetting few weeks. In the photo, DD has a dummy. She had a dummy cos she went 4 and a half hours without one when we were walking around looking at things etc. We then needed to rush back to the car as our time was up and she was in the carrier but we didn't have time to put her in the pram. So I put the dummy in to stop her niggling so we could rush to the car without having to stop and put her in the pram, where she would inevitably fall asleep and we'd have to wake her up to put her in the car. Also, she has a dummy in general because otherwise I would have given up breastfeeding as I couldn't cope with her needing my boobs for comfort. She only ever has her dummy in the car/pram to get to sleep, and to get to sleep at home (but strangely doesn't have it at night). Anyway, today has been a big deal for me and dh to have gone and had a day out (for lots of reasons). Some rude cow on my fb has commented on the photo "sorry, but I don't approve of the dummy".

It's one thing to not approve, but did she have to tell me she didn't approve?! And did she have to tell me so publicly, when that photo is a public profile photo for all to see? I shouldn't have to justify why I use a dummy, but without it I'd have given up breastfeeding, so surely it's better she has one?! (Not that there's anything wrong with ff, as long as a baby is fed. I was never bothered whether I ff or bf, I waited to see what DD wanted).

Is it just me, or is that just incredibly rude? Or am I being oversensitive as I'm tired?

randomsabreuse · 19/02/2016 18:20

Incredibly rude! Parenting decisions are very much what works for you. The only reason I never used one is that she found her thumb on the first night so we went with that.
