Oh Slow that is a classic!!!! Hope it's received with hilarity 😁

Oh woe is me ladies, I know we're all tired and all exhausted for different reasons but I've just had a really big wave of fatigue hit me. Wonder if I've just had a shift in hormone levels? Or maybe it's the continual lack of sleep 😔 Just not a bit knackered but like 'can't go on tired'. Like when you hit the wall when you run long distances and your whole body just goes 'no'. My goodness I feel like I'm running on fumes...

X posts mzzf. The relentless tiredness is tough. Can you get your DH to do a night? Or try a sneaky nap if she naps?

rrra · 03/02/2016 16:27

Just back from seeing HV, who advised me to put DS in his own room, do controlled crying and nightwean him as babies 5-6 months don't need night feeds. Really???

She was trying to be helpful about getting DS to sleep better, but still.

Talking of sleep curve balls, DS went to sleep in his pushchair just after 1 and didn't properly wake until after 3! He did wake up in the middle but pushed him a hit and got him back to sleep. Me and DD made a picture for her friend at nursery with stuck on sequins and jewels!

Slow, love that card!

Mzzf, totally with you on feeling wiped out. I think it is the cumulative affect of little sleep. My entire body aches by this point in the day.

kbro79 · 03/02/2016 19:27

Something in the air today as I also felt like can't take the tiredness anymore. DH called to say he'd be a tiny bit late home and I just wanted to sob. We've not even had a bad day. Been v nice. The tiredness is just killing me. Thinking of doing some v gentle sleep training. Maybe very soft version of gradual withdrawal? Those who've been here with other babies is sleep training worth a go? Would have to be gentle as I am too soft for any crying. Don't by any means expect him to sleep through but a couple of 3 chunks of sleep would be nice.

Can I ask what time your babies eat and then when you start bedtime milk? Think I am giving DS his 'dinner' to late as he won't feed for long before bed which won't help his terrible sleep.

rrra my friend today was saying the same about night feeds. How they know when out babies are hungry I don't know.

rrra · 03/02/2016 19:56

Kbro, I'M considering doing some sleep training with DS turns 6 months. I've got a book called baby sleeping trust techniques which basically talk through variations of gradual retreat. Some with no crying and some with some crying but never leaving them alone.

I'd like to get started with weaning and starting some daytime formula first. And I'm not going to stop night feeds, but just try to cut them down to two after certain times.

At least I'll do all of this whe. I've worked up the nerve!!

sianihedgehog · 03/02/2016 21:07

Kbro, we do grownup dinner at about 6:30, (baby sits at the table and plays with food), then bath, then a book, then boob. Boob usually starts around 7:30 or 8 and he feeds and feeds and feeds until around 9. He actually really wants to sleep at about 5:30 or 6, but we really want family dinner to be a part of the routine. I think if we could do it all an hour earlier it'd work much better.

FattyNinjaOwl · 03/02/2016 21:19

We all have tea together at around 5, then its a bath at 6 for the two little ones, teeth brushed, into my bed to get dry, into jamas and Nathan has a bottle while I read to DD and have quiet snuggles. Nathan into cot on his side, into DDs room with her, kiss, hug and she goes to sleep.
DS1 then has a bit of time for us or to finish homework and I tidy up, make a brew and mumsnet.
That's how its worked the last few nights, but tonight fucked up a bit as Nathan missed his afternoon nap thanks to parents evening. He was in the sling but was being nosey.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 03/02/2016 21:33

kbro we all have dinner at around 5:30pm, then upstairs for bath at about 6:15pm. Tend to do the girls on alternate nights - have never bathed either of them nightly as it makes their skin really dry - so one goes in the bath and the other has a flannel wash. Then into jammies.

DH usually reads to grumpy 1 while I feed grumpy 2 then both fall asleep around 7ish, grumpy 1 goes out like she's been pole-axed, I tend to sit with grumpy 2 upright for a while to avoid trapped wind!

Like siani we have always made eating tea together as a family part of the routine but we are lucky in that we have both been able to make that work around our jobs (when I had one of course!) I appreciate that's just not a possibility for many families.

We are not weaning yet, but when we do start grumpy 2 will have her food with the rest of us at 5:30pm.

Thanks for the love towards the card! I bloody love 4-year olds, they are genuinely hilarious Grin

Frolicacid · 03/02/2016 21:46

I'm only doing a quick post as I'm determined to sleep at a decent time tonight. Dh and I just watched the first episode of Luther. I fear I may not sleep now due to naught thoughts of idris Elba 😍

Brilliant photo everything - it definitely wasn't the cat that done it 😉

That is the best card ever slow! Just had me doing an actual lol!
Glad you are all on the mend.

Ds had squash, sweetcorn and pea purée tonight magrat. Went down very well.

I'm not surprised you've hit a wall mzzf. 6 months of shitty sleep is probably catching up with you. Can dh do some duties for you to get a rest? you've had it very tough on the sleep front. Take care of yourself 💐

I think your hv must be on crack raa.

kbro, I have also wandered about having dinner earlier. Ds usually sleeps 5-6 ish and then we have food all together about 6:30 - 7. I may try getting it down him sooner.

randomsabreuse · 04/02/2016 06:17

No one here - hope that means a good night. Tried to get someone back to sleep after 4.30 feed, was having none of it, turned light off anyway and tried to ignore her. Gave up and discovered her horizontally across the top of the cot - kind of wishing I'd seen it in progress!

mzzzf · 04/02/2016 07:05

Uurrghhh mini mzzzf decided to wake up an extra hour earlier today. Sod's law today is me solo all day and night as DH is out. Hellloooo chocolate!!! 🍫😁

DD normally has a late nap starting at 4.30pm that lasts anywhere until 5-6pm. She eats at 6pm ish then bedtime for her starts at 7.30. So she has about 1.5hrs between dinner and bottle.
Lately, regardless of the length of her last nap time she's been making tired signs and sounds at 7.30. She used to do that at 9pm, and in fact will often need a resettle at 9, but she naturally seems to be wanting that bedtime... I may try getting her up sooner but it's nice that DH has time with her in the evening. However, if she's tired at 7.30 I should probably already be getting into bed mode rather than just starting it.

Random - mini mzzzf used to do that all the time!! Until she got to bug and wedged herself!! 😁

Grrrr to your HV rrra!!

And who are these psychic people who know if our babies are hungry or not at night?! Faaaack off!

SHES NAPPING IN HER COT...yes I could snooze but no I'm painting my toenails, they look soooooo pretty!! Bye bye chipped outgrown polish HOOOORRRAHHHH!

Awful, awful night but I tell myself she's ill so must not resent it Smile

Routine here is bath at 7, and she must have boob or bottle at 7:30 otherwise she majorly acts out! Asleep around 8 for cot transfer if it's a failed attempt then it's more boob and I tend to her in there by 9? x

randomsabreuse · 04/02/2016 11:45

Congratulations on the cot nap Fanby!! Completely understand the doing something for you priority - sometimes the return to the adult world is worth more than a nap ever could be.

Rrra your HV sounds mad . The one I saw was nice and sensible - no stress even though we've dropped from on the 25th to just above the 9th.

I'm super lucky that F self settles pretty well provided she considers her needs fully met - her opinion of a wet disposable nappy is quite forthright but she's less obvious about a wet or dirty reuseable. Have no semblance of a routine and she usually works around us which is handy. I go against accepted wisdom and don't try bed until at least 9 but she'll often sleep on one of us downstairs alternating naps and feed before then. From bedtime she then does 7 ish hours so I prefer the later bed making 4 am less painful than 2 for me. Day time naps are totally random but if tired will just conk out at random. Please don't hate me!

Need to get back to sorting out our room so big cot can move in allowing travel cot back into living room so project nap not on me can restart!

Tindel · 04/02/2016 11:50

Urgh, still feeling ill, not helped by the fact that J woke up every 2 hours for a feed last night. Am feeling utterly destroyed right now, so hoping another sofa day will do the trick.

mzzzf · 04/02/2016 15:10

Ah Tindel hope you recover soon!

Mini mzzzf did a 40min nap in her cot this lunchtime - WTF?! Is Molly starting a trend or something? Yay for cot naps ( autocorrect wanted that as car baps hahaha!!)!!

DH is out tonight so I'm running the ship solo - Arrrgh I need some anxiety monkey repellent!!

Fanby · 04/02/2016 16:44

Amazing Mzzzf! I hope she has. I think I've got a case of billy big balls, I'm currently attempting another one. She's not having any of it though x

Fanby · 04/02/2016 16:59

BOOOOOOM!!!

mzzzf · 04/02/2016 20:12

Second nap dans le cot? 😁 GET IN!!

Popped into asda today by chance and they were selling packs of56 pampers for £3.50 if anyone's interested. Also looked like they were gearing up for a baby event!

Frolicacid · 04/02/2016 20:18

Today we are winning 🙂Good naps, excellent cake at baby group and Ds was great for dh while I went swimming this evening. And, the biggest win of all is that for the 3rd night in a row Ds has not fallen asleep on the boob, but on his own after I just put the light off and left him. Miracles do happen.

Yay to cot naps and painted toenails mzzf and fanby.

It's very quiet here today - where is everyone?

FattyNinjaOwl · 04/02/2016 20:21

I've been dealing with a worm infestation.

Kids really are gross.

Fanby · 04/02/2016 20:29

Oh frolic that is epic!!! Yay for a great day!

And what a bargain mzzzf! We're aldi nappy users in this house, if we end up having to buy any on holiday I reckon the price is going to shock me (and we probably will have to buy some as she's gone back to poo'ing after every feed! Lovely!).

Fatty - worms are THE worst! Hope the treatments and towel washing are underway

Catching up with silent witness - love it, latest episode is like a classic storyline :)

mzzzf · 04/02/2016 20:32

I've been lying in a heap. J has fed constantly today, which I'm struggling with, as I still feel lousy. He's also wide awake still despite feeding for an hour, so DH is taking over so I can get some sleep.

Fanby · 04/02/2016 20:55

I will always be loyal to Harry Cunningham x

mzzzf · 04/02/2016 21:00

Ahhhh Harry! Bless him!

'Twas a good SW this week as well.

Right mini mzzzf is down/pretending to be down. I've scoffed a double dekker and awaiting the arrival of my drunken, kebab eating DH!
