Panic over he has just been. Think he was just waiting till my stress level reached panic!! Thank you though. And thanks for tip about water and syringe. Worth remembering.

Best bit was he went when I was in the shower so daddy had to deal with it.

mzzzf · 24/01/2016 11:02

Get cycling his little legs. Or bring his knees to his chest like squats. Or massage clockwise on his belly. A weeks worth of poo - poor guy!!!

MaGrat - we'll help you with the body!!

Fuck I've now forgotten what's on the other page!!
Yes to two week Caribbean holiday though!

So yes, all the lovely Relacin hormone has most likely left your body now in s big enough amount as to make you notice. It's the one that loosens the ligaments and in effect tells the body it's ok to loosen them so when it's effect wears off not only are the ligaments and soft tissue in s bit of a pickle but the body also is recognising all these new ouchy sensations - fun!
Mostly this occurs around the 5 month mark but if your BF can last up until 12months. Which is why physios always look like fun sponges when we tell post natal ladies to do low impact stuff for the first few months and not to massively overdo stretching exs such a yoga and pilates. On the whole it should just be an achey shit feeling but can be painful. If in doubt get thee to your docs!
The best idea for post natal IMO in weight training. In fact tis awesome for all women but important after 35 anyway. And proper weights, not 1-2lb tiny Dumbbells. Use your baby, use your own body weight even use old plastic milk bottles filled with water, either way it rocks. Just take it slow and careful.

Ok night here, so much nicer with two pairs of hands. She was up every couple of hours when we went to bed but prior to us going up managed 4hrs on her own. Cue a trip to ikea today to get her nursery sorted ASAP!

Happy Sunday folks!!

Mugabeansssss! I'm going to take your advice Mzzf and just do a quick up date as its been so long there's no way I can reply to everything!

DS has been a bit of a grouch bag of late which is probably why I've not had time to post as I have to constantly entertain him which is not like him! Cue lots of walks in the pram to give my poor arms a rest from holding him! At least I'm only 4lbs of pre baby weight and 8 off my ideal as a result and can do my work pants up ready for 5 weeks time, although the saggy mum tum muffin top it creates isn't very fetching! Major toning needed!

He has been being awful with his bottles for a few weeks either refusing them outright or taking a few ounce and then writhing around like I'm feeding him poison we had some luck with normal milk instead of comfort and I thought he had just got bored of the taste but after a few days he was doing it again and yesterday was particularly grumpy as a result of most likely being hungry all day! I think it's his teeth as we also had an hour of hysterical crying- never heard him so bad I was thinking when he's at nursery if he ever gets like that they would probably ring me to come get him it was that bad poor poppet! And yet STILL no teeth I just wish the buggars wpuld pop through already the drool and grumpiness is driving me crazy not to mention his hands look like he's been plaiting barbed wire where he's chomping them! All that said he is officially 6 months old to the day today and seems to have noticed as he has guzzled all his bottles after I put a size 3 teat on and has decided he loves his 6 month+ dummies both of which last week he spat at me like i was a mental case!!

Sleep is S L O W L Y improving but as long as we're heading in the right direction I'm happy!

Weaning doesn't seem to be progressing anywhere and I'm having to remind myself not to worry as he's probably swallowed about 3 things in nearly 2 weeks!! He's having great fun though!

Gotta dash the playmate is no longer fun apparently!!

Dozygirl · 24/01/2016 18:07

Happy Sunday mugabeans.

Mzzf I wonder if that's why I'm so stiff in the mornings? I bought a new mattress and it's been horrendous, i struggle to get up in the morning as my back hurts and is so stiff. I can change the mattress if I want but who knows if it'll do the same thing without trying it again. U only get to swap it once.

Piper has been a trooper and responded well to antibiotics. They've made her poop much more regularly heehee so now I'm changing pooey nappies as often as normal babies instead of her usual every 3 days nonsense.

I'm going to work on being better at feeding her because I think she's getting dehydrated in the day if I'm not having to change her wet nappies very often. It can be on for 12 hours and not be that full. Also will take her to weigh in this week to make sure she's gaining weight ok.

She's also had an allergic reaction to something she ate today. Came out in an almost instant rash all around her mouth but if faded within a couple of hours. I'd given her quite a few different things to try though so I don't know what caused it. Will try each thing individually this week to try to rule out what it was.

Lilydreams · 24/01/2016 20:18

Dozy we had an allergic reaction to avocado last week- same thing mahoosive red rash but it spread all over his torso too, I went to the doctors after googling said babies with eczema can also have food allergies and he's referred us to a paediatrician- although I suspect because he didn't know what else to suggest! Haha!

Wet nappies wise we change about every 3/4 hours in the day and are usually pretty wet- he can usually go through the night in one but it is mega full by the morning although that said he leaked last night poor thing! Sorry your having trouble still with the mattress the hormone thing makes sense my back is creasing but I think it's also due to lugging DS around he's a right lump now and it's my back where my arms attach if that makes sense!?

DS has been the happiest smiliest baby today thank god after yesterday's screamathon and even attempted rolling but in his own way the little loon!!

Mugabe Nights: sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your (sleep deprived) pain!
mzzzf · 24/01/2016 20:20

Dozy the hormones could be it but it could also just be that the mattress you've got isn't right for you. Were you getting achey on your old mattress? Glad to hear piper is on the mend too!

Saying that though I've bought a new bed base today. Our old one is ridiculously squeaky and has broken so many times. It probably won't survive another move so we took advantage of the ikea sale! Now just have to wait for DH to build it!!

A good Sunday had today, why do the good ones always go so speedily?!

FattyNinjaOwl · 24/01/2016 21:22

Well I mastered bedtime today. Took both baby and toddler up, bath, teeth, dry and bed. Was perfect until the fucking kitten sneaked his way into my room and woke the baby up Angry

Giraffescandance1 · 24/01/2016 21:51

Evening all

mzzf that's so interesting about the hormones and exercise. Is walking a lot with the pushchair ok?! Sounds like I need to start doing some weights...

Fatty well done on the double bath and bedtime, kittens are so cute but not when they wake babies!

I've just booked a holiday to Devon in May, yippee! Booked it on Owners Direct so a nice little cottage in the countryside close to the sea and national parks. I'm not keen on flying and love the West Country, bet someone on here will tell me they're from there now and make me very jealous hehe Grin

Lilydreams · 24/01/2016 22:30

Mzzf yay for the good Sunday! You are right when everything is going well it flies but when it's s naff day it seems to take forever!

Fatty yay for bedtime not so yay for kitten!

Giraffes holiday sounds ace we have been invited to go with the ILs to a villa in summer fights and accommodation paid for we are so excited! DS wl just have turned 1 and SIL's baby will be around 6 months so 8 of us in total a proper family hol cannot wait and saves us the worry of saving for a hol on our own which takes the pressure off! Grin

Dozygirl · 24/01/2016 22:49

Mzzzf yeah my back was hurting on old mattress but had also been bothering dp so we decided to go for new one. His is fine now but mine is worse. Still have a few days left to decide but also want to get it before the sale prices go back up again.

Awww fatty didn't realise you'd gotten a kitten. Funnily enough my cat woke baby yup this evening too. He never goes upstairs but somehow he snuck into dd room when we weren't looking. I'm not sure if he did wake her up but when dp went to settles her he was in there and he runs away from her crying usually. Hope he wasn't in her cot! !

Oh holiday sound s nice giraffe. And lily getting a holiday paid for is even better you lucky thing.

FattyNinjaOwl · 24/01/2016 22:52

Holidays sound fab. I don't do holidays. Can't afford them. So I'm very Envy of you all booking places to go!

dozy I got the George cat back in September. His birthday is the same as Nathans!

Joskar · 24/01/2016 23:49

Hello all! Been lurking as too shattered to post. It's all this watching The Bridge of an evening instead of going to bed as soon as is socially acceptable! Anyway that's us watched all three seasons. Bloody excellent. Highly recommend. Anyone got a suggestion of what we should watch next?

Can't remember who was baby proofing but it reminded me of our friends who were so paranoid they had locks on the top drawers and the wall cupboards from when their baby was about four months old. I think the chances of the wee one scaling the cabinets to get into the cereal cupboard were pretty low! Needless to say we didn't get round to it til dd1 was 1ish even though she was quite an early mover. We've got open shelves everywhere and a wood burner and a Rayburn. We're so crap. Tbh I never really left her alone that often til she was older so it wasn't really necessary that's what I tell myself anyway

Also feeling like a dropped bag of hammers. And v fat to boot. Really need to do some dieting and exercising. Cba. Pilates once a week but that's not exactly burning up the calories although I think it's definitely a good thing to do. I've two weddings to go to this year so I really need to sort myself out. No more hiding from the scales! No more chocolate! Does the baby count as a weight?!

I'd love a holiday. I'm the main wage so it's probably not going to happen. We'll see. Sort of trying to do life jenga at the moment where we work out if we want to extend or build a new house or move somewhere else or...or... Gah! Just talking round in circles!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 24/01/2016 23:59

Evening all,

Hope everyone has had a good weekend - yours sounded nice mzzf, well done for not having a massive barney in IKEA!

Grumpy 1 has been a poorly soul, temp of 39 and a nasty case of hives so we have been taking it easy. Had a lovely walk around Ness Gardens yesterday though before the weather closed in.

We are still a way off weaning yet but grumpy 2 gets so annoyed by everyone eating except her that we have been giving her a cup of water to play with at mealtimes. She loves it so much, it's very sweet seeing her launch herself at it like its the best thing ever!

Nice to have you back lily well done on conquering the work trousers and getting your hols sorted. giraffes your holiday plans sound lovely too.

kbro grumpy 2 is a poo storer also which freaked me out at first as her older sister has always been super regular. We got to 6 days poo-free this week before it finally turned up. It doesn't seem to bother her though and apparently it is normal for bf babies. Who knew?? Anyway, when they do come they have the consistency of paste and are particulary grim to scrape off the nappy. Eugh.

Am having fun flogging off baby stuff - DH is not relenting on his plans for a trip for the snip so I may as well reap the financial benefits. Next to go the Maclaren buggy - 3 buggies is too many buggies, right?

loveandsmiles · 25/01/2016 06:39

Another new week🤗. Had a rubbish weekend - I felt sick all weekend, toddler was sick and babyloves full of snot again. Those with older children - why when they are sick is it always in the middle of the night and all over the bed???? DH who usually works non stop had to take DS to a big swimming gala at the Comminwealth Pool In Edinburgh on Saturday and Sunday leaving me feeling ill with all the other DC but thanks to the wonders of modern technology we were able to watch him racing on livestream - amazing!! Toddler could not understand how her big brother was on telly😂😂

dozy babyloves does not have very wet nappies - goes all night without any leaks and if she hasn't pooed would only needed changed once if at all during the day - she is bf.

mzzzf thank you for explaining about the changes your body goes through related to excercising - I did 2 classes last week and my body was in agony - just recovered now. It's really hard as I enjoy walking but can't go out with babyloves as I have toddler too. The classes were ideal as you can take DC but think they are too tough for me - will give them another go this week and see how I get on.

slow you can never have enough buggies!! My garage is full of them - I have a thing about buying prams / buggies - think with my 6 DC I have tried them allBlush

Dozygirl · 25/01/2016 07:22

Joskar I'm the same with the house dilemma. Do we me or extend. Plenty of room to extend but will it still give me my dream house or do we move to somewhere that's already a dream house? Or is it all too expensive and we do nothing. I do have a decent enough house but for I'm being greedy and want bigger and better. Especially as children accumulate so much stuff. There are baby things everywhere.

Slow are u using reusables? I forget who's on them and who's not lol. Do u scrape the poo off before washing? Dd are similar poos to your dds from the sound of it but I just shove it straight in the washing machine.

I need a new buggy for my holiday. Waiting for aldi baby event this week as I think they do a cheap umbrella one. Just need something mega small and light and cheap so I don't care if it gets broken. Any suggestions? I so want to take my lovely pram but it's just not worth it plus it's mega bulky so won't fit in everyone's car.

Fatty George is beautiful. I must admit I'm a bit neglectful of my cat since dd was born. Try to give him cuddles whenever I can because he loves sitting on my lap but he won't when dd is on me.

Weight loss I was back on track post Christmas and lost 5lbs but had a terrible weekend of eating and drinking too much so I need to eat really well if I'm to lose it again by Thursday. I suck at dieting at the weekend. Too much going on.

Loves good to know another baby doesn't wee as much. Hope you're children start feeling better soon.

mzzzf · 25/01/2016 09:11

Loves - if the classes are designed for mummas then they should be fine but maybe try to have a rest day or two in between classes. If you've not worked out in ages you're likely to get muscle soreness anyway but the achey feeling I'm talking about isn't post exercise (although that can make it worse!) is more of an ongoing feeling of ouch rather than the ones you get the day after exercises. Try the classes again and see how you feel, tell the instructor you aches like buggerary after the last one though!

For those feeling body crap (me included!) just start with bits everyday to chip away at better fitness. Squats when waiting for the kettle. Standing on one leg whilst changing the baby (good for bum!) but alternate legs each change. Go upstairs either two at a time or go up three then down two etc etc until you're at the top. Walking lunges holding the baby. Chest presses on the playmat with the baby as weight etc they're are loads. But the motivation is hard !! I so know that.

Just to put it in perspective a recent study on oldies who have lung problems - so think old/frail/v unfit showed that weight training rocks. They spilt up into 3 groups, one just cardio (walking, step ups) one mixed cardio and weights and one group just doing weight training. The weight training only group knocked the other groups out of the water for strength (obvs!), heart/lung fitness, fat loss and weight loss. And our babies are the ideal weights to use as they wriggle, making it dynamic, and they naturally increase in size getting heavier too!!

Sorry for the exercise rant. I can talk a good game but still need buckets of motivation too!!
I'd always rather eat cake then workout 🍰😀

sianihedgehog · 25/01/2016 09:47

I used to do weight training and confirm it is the fucking bomb. Me and my old housemate joined a cheap gym and decided we wanted to "get beefcake" - we're not very girly girls. We both lost absolutely SHITLOADS of fat, but she got really lean and looked like a goddamn underwear model, and I got massive beefcake muscles. My mum was always like that, so I figure the bulking up must be genetic. Most importantly, though, we both felt GREAT, and got really strong, and spent way less time in the gym than friends trying to get fit with cardio.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 25/01/2016 13:38

Hi dozy, yes I am using reusables and I do give the pooey ones a rinse before shoving them in the nappy bucket. I dry pail and only wash every other day so I find the thick pastey poo stains if I don't 💩😄!

loveandsmiles · 25/01/2016 14:07

Well despite having 6 DCs I am still a complete idiot when it comes to looking after them safely. Babyloves NEVER moves - the most she has done is roll from front to back and I've only witnessed that about 3 times. Every morning she lays in the middle of my super-King bed, propped up with pillows whilst I get ready - usually she is sleeping. This morning I came out of the shower and heard crying - omg - she was lying on the floor on her tummy!!Shock. My bed is really high (DDs call it a Princess and the Pea bed!!) - I just don't know how she moved so far as to fall off it?? At least bedroom is carpeted. I remember a friend told me before that babies are quite bouncy and more robust than you think?! Confused. She seems fine - think she got a fright more than anything. No idea what I am supposed to do with her in mornings now when I get ready - I already have the quickest shower ever!! Wouldn't tell anyone in real life about my shockingly bad parenting - just watch where you leave your babies lying ladies - think all of mine have fallen off something at some stage - obviously I never learn Blush

sianihedgehog · 25/01/2016 14:45

loveandsmiles oh god, what a fright!! I put DS on the floor while I wash... And pretty much every time I put him down. But he's starting to commando crawl and I don't have stair gates yet, so I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with it either!

Frolicacid · 25/01/2016 16:11

Ola mugabeans!
I have BIG news! Ds just drank 2oz ebm from a bottle. I only had 2 oz, or he would've had more. I'm literally crying with relief. I can smell freedom.
Who fancies running away to a tropical island with me? 🌴☀️🍹

We've had a good few days. A lovely day out yesterday with a mega nice lunch and some shopping. Swimming was fun today.
evenings and night times are shit, but I'm being positive today

Thank you for the exercise advice mzzf. I am definetly feeling very generally achey. Does a big cake count as weight lifting? 😉

We are exactly the same lily, weeks and weeks of teething, but still no sign of teeth.

I'm still using cloth dozy. I was rinsing the poo and then dry pailing. I've started to use liners now as Ds is swallowing food and we're moving away from the sweet smelling ebm poo. So far so good, just flush the liner and the poo.

I hope grumpy1 is feeling better slow.
Like loves, I love prams and can totally see how people get obsessed. I'm slightly gutted that our first choice has turned out to be perfect for us as I wouldn't mind a bit of pram shopping 🙂

Nice pussy fatty I wish I wasn't so allergic to cats.

I'm sure that if she seems fine, she will be fine loves. Babies are way more robust than we think. How were you to know she was going to do that? Don't be hard on yourself.

Right, better go and wash the chlorine off this boy.

Tindel · 25/01/2016 16:47

Yay, well done frolic baby! I think you definitely deserve a tropical island, I wouldn't be able to function if J wouldn't take a bottle occasionally!

Am very impressed by everyone's exercising - I go to mum and baby yoga and one dance class, but that's it. I'm quite lazy really.

I probably should be a bit more vigilant about J moving off stuff - I'm terrible at leaving him places quickly while I grab a shower etc. He's still not moving anywhere, but he's getting much better at sitting up - he's almost managing it unsupported now!

We've had a rubbish couple of nights with J refusing to settle again. Am wondering if I should put him down earlier, but given that he's never fallen asleep much before 8pm, I'm not sure how well it would work. Am getting very down about it all - it just feels like I don't get any time off - by the time J finally goes to sleep, I'm ready to sleep.

Hey ho, he's currently snoring on my lap, so will see when he stirs next and decide when to put him down then.

kbro79 · 25/01/2016 17:05

Yay go baby frolic!! God that must be a relief. Get yourself some baby free time!!!

I had some nice baby free time yesterday. Went to see some friends. Was lovely and so nice not to be wearing a nursing top and taking a hand bag rather than nappy bag. Rather funnily when I got home DH announced how hard it is to get anything done when ds won't nap in his cot. Yep. Tell me about it. He confessed to me he assumed I was just being a bit soft with him and he thought he'd easily get him in his cot. Ha ha ha. Well now you know.

oh Tindel sorry to hear things are getting you down. This babies are hard going. I know what you mean about feeling like you don't get time off. By the time I've got DS in to bed I really should go to bed but end up sitting up late as I feel I need some baby free time. And is nice spend time with DH without a little person between us.

Oh Mzzzf that is bleak news for me. I hate weights and only ever do cardio in the gym. Clearly that is where I am going wrong!

Loves I always do the same with DS as he never roles. Must stop!!!! Pleased baby loves is ok though. What a shock for you though.

Cute pic fatty. He is gorgeous.

mzzzf · 25/01/2016 17:33

Ahhh love what a 'mare!! Hope baby loves is fine and dandy. Bit of a shock for you though! I'm like Siani in that I put a few of her toys down on the bathroom floor and go for it.

Yay frolic!! Quick run for the border and don't look back!! 😁 I'm clearly doing something wrong as mini mzzzf is ff and DH has never taken her out on his own and the only solo trips I get to do is the joy of food shopping! Slightly irrationally angry with him today, wants me to take the dogs out with her in the sling it's bloody awful weather so isn't happening but he hasn't EVER taken them all out on his own!
What are you planning to do with your new found freedom?! And yes cake deffo counts as weight lifting! 😁

Isn't it funny how babies just 'get' something and decided that they can/want to do it when previously they've screamed bloody murder over it or refused it altogether!! Such little lunatics!

Tindel that sucks not having any 'adult time'. Is there anyway your DH would take J in the evenings and deal with the crying for one or two night?! I speak from no experience as my DH doesn't do nights or put her to bed. He does now do evenings though, for example goes up to her if she cries after bedtime. I'm working on the rest!

Yeah Kbro to Mr Kbro getting to see how tough it is!! YES! And I agree it's lovely having wife time instead of mum time really I should sleep though!!

Ok so my crappy nighttime sleeper has now become a crappy daytime sleeper. She was a reliable napped (albeit on me) but today she has managed one tiny power nap this morning after her first bottle and one lunchtime one and that's it. I've been fighting her for 40mins to nap just now and have given up the fight as the tears are not worth it!! She looks fucking shattered though! What to do?!!
