Our babies are teething, screaming and generally not sleeping, but we're still JS-ing - it's Just Mumming 10!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

La I don't know if it still exists but there used to be a thread in Conception - TTC while bfing. There are some useful links to Kellymom in the op about return of fertility while bfing.

Pud you're not vain at all. Your body goes through so many changes when you have a baby, not mentioning the whole world turning upside down. Do whatever feels good. Btw have a look at Hot Milk bras

  • they look v nice.

So a MW came over today. She observed the feed and said all looks good, we just need bit more time. She also said that a possible reason for misshapen nipples and soreness is that she latches on fine initially, but then at some point during a feed she slips off. Which also occurred to me today. So have to watch out for that. She apologised for not being able to help much, but actually she really built my confidence. Maybe the fact that I managed to feed from the worse side and it actually felt OK helped as well. Overall feeling more positive!

I did give her a bit of formula earlier today, and planning to give some more at bedtime. I feel like s bit of a break will do my nipples good. Expressing didn't yield much (0.5 oz Confused). Even though my milk is coming in now, it's still quite colostrummy. I might try again tomorrow morning but not sure if I cba. Always felt a bit meh about expressing.

Sorry about spamming the Fred with my feeding issues, I just needed to get it off my chest...

Hobbit19 · 02/03/2016 18:43

That's what the Fred is for Carrot! Giving your nipples a rest/time to heal is a good idea. You may be able to express more once your milk comes in too.

RPopz · 02/03/2016 19:00

Not at all carrot - we've all been there. Hopefully things will seem easier once your milk is properly in x

CarrotPuff · 02/03/2016 23:21

Ugh, formula idea abandoned. I think if I miss a feed my boobs are going to explode.

Hobbit19 · 03/03/2016 00:48

Ha! Sounds like your milk.is coming in then Carrot!

DH was doing the late feed tonight so I could get a good stretch of sleep. Except baby pud chugged all 5oz from the bottle and was still hungry so now I'm feeding her anyway! Meh!

ZylaB · 03/03/2016 07:37

pud I can't remember! I think I just squirted it into her mouth with the little syringe because I was struggling to express at the time.

CarrotPuff · 04/03/2016 00:06

Very quiet on here today.

Went to boob group today. Got to the bottom of the problem why my left nipple is so bad. Pretty much slightly different shaped boob and different nipple angle mean I turn my body towards DD when she latches on, and then turn it back, and that's when she slips. The tricky part is that although the problem is identified, I still haven't managed to put her on correctly o my left. Right side is pretty much sorted though...

CountryGal4 · 04/03/2016 00:33

Country in the hooooouse
Yawn yawn

This boy eats like a machiiiine

CarrotPuff · 04/03/2016 03:11

Hey Country! How are you feeling?

Hobbit19 · 04/03/2016 04:39

Hi Country! Congratulations!

honeysucklejasmine · 04/03/2016 07:33

Hi Country! Congratulations again! Are you recovering well?

Carrot good news that the problem is identified! Hope you can work on it now. I am planning on going to boob club today.

I have come downstairs with A this morning as DH is grumpy. She woke up a few times more than normal apparently. I didn't notice. So at 6.15 we decamped to the sofa to watch Live At The Apollo.

A has just been sick in herself and smells a bit. Experience tells me to wait a bit before acting. Oooh, sure enough, more sick. I told her she wasn't really hungry yet but she did insist Now she has hiccups.

RPopz · 04/03/2016 08:15

Would something like rugby hold help carrot?

Welcome country - congratulations Smile

jellypi3 · 04/03/2016 09:04

Welcome to the madness country :) :)

CarrotPuff · 04/03/2016 11:07

I've never really mastered rugby hold, but I'm trying everything at the moment. I'm hoping it'll get easier once the boobs settle a bit as well.

I feel like I'm coming down with a cold? Or is it because of the boobs?

jellypi3 · 04/03/2016 12:19

I've not felt like ive had a cold carrot, just keep an eye on your boobs because mastitis can give you flu like symptoms I think

RPopz · 04/03/2016 14:03

Mastitis would give you fluey symptoms but you'd be pretty unlucky to get it this early in Sad Keep feeding and drink plenty of water. Xxx

Hobbit19 · 04/03/2016 16:59

Carrot, I did feel a bit grim a few days post birth. I think it was just by body thinking 'wtf just happened?'. Lots of water helped. If it is mastitis one boob will be v sore and v red.

Had a lovely day here. Swimming this morning with a successful first dunk. Then lunch with Lemon and baby lemon and now I'm knackered! May have been the lunchtime glass of wine that's making me sleepy. DH not home until 8 and I don't think he will be able to do the night feed tonight as I have a blocked duct so shouldn't miss a feed. Woe is me etc etc!! Was lovely to see the two little viroid babies playing together though!

CarrotPuff · 04/03/2016 17:50

I suspect it is just a bad timed cold. I felt a bit congested yesterday, and was a bit sneezy this morning too.

Glad you had great time pud!

cookielove · 05/03/2016 20:30

Popping on to welcome all newbies, its been an explosion (the good kind) of new newborns (makes me broody) Smile

Congratulations to all Flowers

Guess the only thing new with us is that E has now got 13 teeth and I am amazed!! Grin my baby is not so much of a baby anymore (sob)

DulcetMoans · 05/03/2016 20:30

I keep coming in here, catching up, half starting replies and then not posting. I'm being a very shit viroid!

I think I need a standing start again so consider this my line in the sand - I will be better at posting from here onwards!

CountryGal4 · 06/03/2016 00:56

Between 10 and 4 is Rs awake time. Any other time is eat change sleep repeat. He is tired (yawning) but really alert. What can we use to conk him out. A mobile or something else distracting to tire his brain out???!

CarrotPuff · 06/03/2016 04:37

How old is your LO cookie? Our DS has grown up so much in the last couple of weeks, it's so fascinating and a bit sad at the same time!

Sorry Country, no idea. They can be quite nocturnal at first.

O just sleeps and feeds throughout the day and night, although during the night she gets quite grizzly and it's difficult to get her to sleep in her crib. Except tonight she's been sleeping in her crib all night so far, waking for a feed every 2h or so. Long may it continue!

jellypi3 · 06/03/2016 06:34

country I've found taking R out in her pram is good for wearing her out a bit but I think she's still too young to be properly "worn out" from things just yet.

Your day sounded lovely pud!

cookie they grow up so fast! I'm looking at R cooing away and kicking her legs and me and thinking "you aren't a new born any more!"

I've got my NCT reunion tonight, should be fun. I see the NCT girls every week but not seen the men in a while.

LaLaLaaaa · 06/03/2016 07:16

Morning! Happy Mother's Day!

I am rubbing at keeping up , not helped by having a new phone iPhone 6s which is wide and I find typing on the keyboard really achy.

B is asleep on me and I'm enjoying the cuddles this morning. We've had some shocking nights recently (Friday particularly) but last night was w bit better - I managed to get him through 10pm and 12am wake ups without feeding so he's only had one feed at 2am. Progress. Still woke another 2 times since 2 but that's a million times better than the 20 on Friday

I'm not expecting much for Mother's Day - my Dh will have done a card but that's it probably which is fine. Just will be nice to spend time with family today

Pud I totally know what you mean about not feeling like 'you'. I feel like I'm finally starting to get my identity back 7 months after giving birth . I'm going to buy some nice clothes today because I got a PPI pay out and none of my normal bras fit anymore. I give medicine using syringe down side of mouth, tipping his head back slightly. My friend who's a paediatric nurse gave me the tip that blowing on their face at same time makes them swallow and it does.

Snap how are things? Is mini better? I'm glad you asked about ranitidine dosage. I've been thinking I might need to see if it should be increased. He's started getting hiccups a lot again and the little throat clearing cough came back. How much is mini on? B is on 1.2ml twice a day.

Popz how are you feeling?

Need to catch up

Jelly your man should be the one going downstairs not you! And he needs to understand that the days of peaceful sleep are over. He made this baby with you and babies are noisy at night and don't sleep well.

Carrot how are you getting on? Pinched like a lipstick can mean they not latched on properly I think, but I think you've said you're getting latch checked so that's probably redundant info now!

LaLaLaaaa · 06/03/2016 07:23

Had to press post as B start flailing arms and didn't want to lose what I'd written!

Carrot just read that your milk is in, yay!

I wondered if a cranial osteopath might be able to help with your latching on one side? When B was born they used forceps and he was v late so was squished. Cranial osteopath 2 sessions and she said he was tight around head and down body. When he started refusing left side we went back and he was tight down one side which was making it sore to nurse. Much better after session

Country hi!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!
