Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jabberwocky · 05/01/2007 08:20

babypowder, the doc told us that jaundice clears from the feet up so if his face still looks yelllow, check his feet! Good luck with the checkup.

lubella, I got your email, forwarded o my regular account and replied from that one. Did you get it?

Baileys, funny you mentioned your common sore point. I wondered if anyone else was having that problem. It's worse than when I was pregnant

Some smiles here too, but he's still a bit congested so he's not happy at all about that...

HayleyWayley · 05/01/2007 10:34

hi its been 3 weeks since i gave birth and im still bleeding? is this normal? some days i have nothing othen other days its heavy!

bewilderbeast · 05/01/2007 11:22

Hayley its normal to bleed for up to 6 weeks. I did although the last 2 weeks were on and off somedays nothing and then other day, particularly when I had been moving about and using my stomach muscles a lot, heavy. The MW said that if it stops for more than a few days and then starts again but doens't smell offensive its a period rather than post natal bleeding.

lucy5 · 05/01/2007 11:27

Hola all! Congratulations Wb and Spina !!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe ds is 6 weeks tomorrow too, where does the time go? He has a cold at the moment and is a bit unsettled, i had forgotten how tiring newborns are.

Haley bleeding after 3 weeks is normal, this time I bled for 5 weeks, last time it was 6.

jabberwocky · 05/01/2007 11:50

There;s several of us who have battling a cold it seems. It's almost 6:00 am and he's woken after only an hours sleep all night. I mean sleep an hour up an hour, etc. I feel horrible.

OonaghBhuna · 05/01/2007 14:38

Hello was wondering can I join this thread!!! I gave birth to dd2 on the 27th Dec one week early so I have been on the due Jan thread all of this time. I am recovering slowly as i had a section, I also have a urinary infection and am on antibiotics... My boobs have finally got used to feeding again they were so red and sore and chapped at the weekend I didnt think I was going to be able to do it this time. And now the tiredness is just hitting me .........But its all worth it DD is gorgeous!

HayleyWayley · 05/01/2007 16:56

thanks girls was worrying over nothing!

welcome hun and congrats on safe arrival of ya daugther! xx

BaileysMilkshake · 05/01/2007 17:03

HW - still bleeding here although very little - have actually managed to reduced protection to pantyliners, and atnight I am knicker free - oh the liberation!

DH has noticed the change in what I am using and is now asking when 'normal bedroom service' can be resumed! Apparently he will explode or something Well as long as he stands in the garden when that happens, I am remaning a 'no go' zone for at least another fortnight!

DS is now only having one night feed around 2 or 3am then wakes about 5.30-6am, and I get up at that time. Have bought some Kick - Tesco version of redbull for both me and DH to use as needed as he also returns to work next week and will be back on 4am starts.

Regained some control over the house today, tidying and wotnot, and can see my dining room table for the first time since Boxing Day. WooHoo!

castlesintheair · 05/01/2007 17:11

Congratulations WB! Welcome Hannah. Thought i'd posted earlier. must be this one handed typing or general insanity ...

Baileys, I am SO ready for some bedroom action but there doesn't seem to be time or opportunity. I think we need to check into a hotel for a couple of hours ...

Loulou000 · 05/01/2007 17:27

I'm still bleeding on and off too after three weeks - the HV said up to six weeks is quite normal.

Hayley, Infacol definitely helps DD with her wind problem, so I think it's worth a try.

We seem to be making progress and every day isn't quite such a battle now. Just as well, as DP is back to work next week. I'm now worrying about how to get out and about with all the stuff I need and without being able to lift the pram - but I think that's a sign of progress, as this time last week I wouldn't have dreamed of going outside.

Calmriver · 05/01/2007 17:53

I bled for 5 weeks last time and this time! Thank goodness its over now.

Has anyone had sex yet??????????

My Dh is very desperate poor guy!

jabberwocky · 05/01/2007 17:57

Congrats to WB and oonaghbuna!

Have to admit dh and I sneaked in a lille bedroom action a few days ago - Finally!

Last night was awful. My mother came over at 10:00 am as ds2 had been doing one hour of feeding and one hour off for about 12 hours! I finally got a couple of hours of sleep. I thought we were past this....

HayleyWayley · 05/01/2007 18:08

no sex this end yet..dont think i will ever be ready again

Calmriver · 05/01/2007 20:18

No Jabber, they have hit their 6 week growth spurt...I was told to expect it...as i had forgotten from last time round.

I have got Amberli on formula top-ups now.She is feeding from me while i type here, but just looks so satisfied after 3 oz(100 ml) of bottle.......for about an hour, then shes hungry again...

BaileysMilkshake · 05/01/2007 22:15

Just wanted to share...
DH has called me in to the living rom because DS is fretful and because he is eating chilli crisps doesnt want to touch him in case he gets any flavour on him (yeah right )

I go over there and am hit by an almighty pong! DH could not smell why DS was fretting over the chilli crisps. Poor DS is sitting there in his own personal slurry pool!

And I say again.....MEN

babypowder · 05/01/2007 22:53

Well, had an interesting afternoon at the jaundice screening. We were taken in late, so I had fed LO and she subsequently filled her nappy. We then had to sit around for 3 HOURS to wait for her to wee into a little bag! If I'd known, I would never have fed her in reception.
The good news is everything seems OK - we have to go back in 4 weeks as one of her thyroid results was a little abnormal, but they assure me that it is most likely a transient thing and is nothing to worry about (yeah, like I can stop mwself )
It was sobering to sit in SCBU all afternoon. Puts my minor worries into perspective...

babypowder · 05/01/2007 22:55

Keep meaning to ask - those of you in Spain, how is public breastfeeding viewed? We're off to denia in May, and I honestly can't remember whether it was a problem with DD1 or not!!

weirdbird · 05/01/2007 23:05

Not sure if this will work

Hannah Elizabeth

9lb 10oz

have a look here

babypowder · 05/01/2007 23:09

WB, she is absolutely gorgeous!

northernmama · 05/01/2007 23:24

Oh WB, she is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Nursing strike appears to be over, now eating every 2 -3 hours...all day AND night.

Has regained birthweight at 14 days, so appears to be on track so far, but ooh, my poor nipples!!!

northernmama · 05/01/2007 23:28

Am still bleeding too off & on - have been told it's stopping & starting because I'm doing too much... lifting my son, etc.

So I want to know, who is going to lift him & carry him if I shouldn't? Does the nurse think I have someone standing by to do all the lifting etc. until the 6 week post partum???

Elibean · 06/01/2007 02:44

Six week growth spurt? Ah, that would explain it - though dd is not that hungry all day, then seems to be starving in the evening during colic time

Her floppy larynx noises are getting louder, can't help worrying - I'm up coughing half the night, dd1 seems to be starting a new cold, and I know dd2 is at high risk of ending up back in hospital if she catches another respiratory tract infection. [worried paranoid mum icon]

Calm, Mischa weighed just over 4kg a week ago - in spite of everything, my little piggy is getting chubby thighs!

Elibean · 06/01/2007 02:45

WB, she is a beauty, congratulations

Elibean · 06/01/2007 02:46

And welcome Oonagh, and congrats to you too

Mardy, still thinking of you and dd...

jabberwocky · 06/01/2007 04:23

Calm, I was stupidly thinking he had done his growth spurt a week early, but I think that was just the run-up

My mother got him to take a bottle today so at least I know he won't starve when I go back to work

Baileys, lol, at your dh. Mine has decided every time ds2 gets fussy that it must be due to something I've eaten If I'm not careful he'll have rationed out all the good stuff!

Eli, I know it must be so worrying with the cold season. I worry my head off with ds2's snarfly noises at night and I haven't had the trauma that you went thru with Mischa. Can;t imagine what it's like on your end.
