Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Loulou000 · 06/01/2007 11:04

No sex yet, no. MW said it wasn't allowed for six weeks. It's starting to sound like not a bad idea, but it's only been three.

Here is my little button: Loulou's DD in her Christmas outfit

satinshoes · 06/01/2007 11:29

Lovely pictures loulou.

Well, we had a 4 hours stretch of sleep last night, then a quick feed and then 3 hours!!! I couldnt quite believe it. although she had been awake for 4 hours in the morning and 3 in the afternoon, and 2 in the evening. Almost killed me so if I hadnt had a decent sleep i'd be useless today.

castlesintheair · 06/01/2007 11:31

Cute babies!

Eli ((Hugs)) It's not the best time to have babies is it but they are tougher than we think and Mischa is building her immune system all the time.

My DS appears to have chicken pox (email came round from school on Thursday) & he's got some spots. Do babies get it?

lucy5 · 06/01/2007 12:20

Breastfeeding in public in Spain is not common. I can actually count the number of women that I have seen 3 in 3 years, but it hasn't stopped me. I'm possibly more discrete than I was in the UK and I just ignore the little old men who stare. I'd carry on regardless.

babypowder · 06/01/2007 12:55

Thanks, Lucy - I had a niggling feeling that it wasn't the 'done thing'. Still, I'll carry on, but discretely, as you say.

jabberwocky · 06/01/2007 14:06

Very cute babies, WB and loulou!

Dh took ds2 from 2:30 to 6:15 last night and it was heavenly! I'm starting to panic a bit as ds2 is getting worse instead of better on sleeping

castles, I'd give the doc a call about the chicken pox. Not sure what to say otherwise. I know one MNer's baby got it at 6 months.

BaileysMilkshake · 06/01/2007 16:23

Congrats WB and Loulou, lovely pictures!

satinshoes · 06/01/2007 16:24

congrats wb. missed your post earlier....lovely pic

satinshoes · 06/01/2007 16:58

well rested after dd had a 4 hour stretch of sleep and then 3 hours last night. yay. DH has also just given her her 1st bottle which she guzzled without complaint. I am pleased but also a bit sad....makes me a bit silly probably.

Elibean · 06/01/2007 17:10

Not silly, satin - every milestone has that effect on me this time!

Jabber, am in growth spurt fog with you: every 2-3 hours last night, after having got to 3-4, even occasionally 5 hour stretches. Hats off to you, yours are even shorter! Can I ask when your ds1 grew out of the laryngomalacia 'noises'? Mischa's are getting louder - which apparently is normal till around the six month mark - we have to close the bedroom door during feeds at night or she squeaks so loudly dd1 wakes up

Castles, sorry re the pox...have heard that babies tend to get it very mildy, if breast fed (at all), thanks to antibodies? Assuming you've had it? I did see someone with a 3 week old baby who had it on the Health section once, but in RL I know Mums whose LOs had it and the babies never caught it. Fingers crossed!

Elibean · 06/01/2007 17:11

Loulou....she's adorable

Please, someone, how do I post a picture? Or rather, where? Is there a MN site for posting?

Devongirl · 06/01/2007 17:47

Hello, I can officially join this thread now!

James Gabriel was born on 30th December, weighing 3lb 3.5oz, by a very traumatic labour - 12 hours of very strong contractions in a maternity unit, waters broke and were green with muconium, on the next examination I was still 4cm dilated (which I had been when I was admitted) and my focus went immediately negative from having worked together with DH so well for all that time, so I got transferred by ambulance (with blue light!) to the hospital 20 mins away where I had an epidural that I was totally against prior to labour, and a hormone drip to get things moving. We sat in the room for 4 hours watching the ECG and the little one's heart beat got very erratic towards the end. After the 4 hours, the next exam showed that I was STILL 4cm dilated and we were desperate by then, so he was born by CS. It felt like the worst day/days of our lives and DH and I were petrified by the end, but when we heard him scream it was still the best day of our lives anyway.

I stayed in hospital for 5 nights as he lost quite a lot of weight but we've got the feeding under control now I think and he's a smasher

Good luck to those still waiting - I really think they just come when they're ready and all the stuff we're told to do to bring on labour are just things to keep our minds occupied!

accessorizechristmas · 06/01/2007 18:42

lovely piccies of babies, mine is too spotty to even take any (I think your ds has the acne too, Jabber? I find it quite upsetting as he's so gorgeous in every other respect!).
Welcome oonagh & congrats devong, both sound like very traumatic experiences, it's so much harder to look after a newborn after a section (I had one with ds1), hope your other halves are looking after you and your lo's.
It's really odd that every time I'm talking about something with dp or thinking about it, I pop on here and your lo's are all doing the same thing! Snuffling at night etc.
Does anyone have tips on how to manage to express regularly? I can't do it whilst feeding ds2 as we have the whole cushion/nipple shield thing going on & there seems so little time the rest of the day with ds1 around too! Was thinking of formula as well as I'm really struggling feeding in public with aforementioned large boobs/nipple shield combo, my back kills me as my positioning goes to pot.

HayleyWayley · 06/01/2007 18:49

hi- i use formula aswell as BF, Charlie has a formula at bout 10.30pm then again at 1.30am (which my fella does) and i BF all day!
It suits me well coz then i can get a good nights sleep...i then BF him at 5am approx...
Plus it means i can have a few drinks too hehe

Congrats on all the new births! xxxxxx

Elibean · 06/01/2007 19:33

Congrats Devongirl! I'm sorry it was so rough - does sound scary - but so glad all was well in the end. And I agree re bringing on labour

AQ, I had to express while dd2 was in hospital - roughly every four hours round the clock. I used a Medela electric, and found I could get a whole bottlefull in about 10-15 minutes: not sure if my milk flows particularly fast, or if its a good pump, but it means I can express while dd1 watches a dvd and dd2 is asleep at least twice a day, if needs be. I'm still at it - mostly because Mischa struggles to breathe and feed at the same time sometimes, mostly in the evenings. Rest of the time, I breastfeed.

Oh, and each time she's had a growth spurt (she's on her third, would you believe) I've had to top up with formula as have run out of breast milk, amazingly

jabberwocky · 07/01/2007 03:56

Congrats devongirl! So sorry that itwas so traumatic. I hope your recovery goes well.

I am so of your sleep, satin. Today was Operation "Keep ds2 awake Day". I think he's been napping too much/too long. We'll see if it has ant effect tonight

Eli, I do believe we are growth spurt #3 as well. Maybe it's a preemie thing? The gunting went on for quite a while. I'm guessing to about 3 monyhs. Sorry, but my depression was so bad I truly don't remember ds1's babyhood that well

AQ, yep, baby acne here too. Just when I think it's clearing up he has a fresh break out.
I've read it can last from 3 weeks to 3 monhs!

BaileysMilkshake · 07/01/2007 07:35

Hi All,

Congratulations Devongirl - a few weeks and hopefully the trauma o the birth will be a distant memory for you.

We watched Cheaper By The Dozen 2 last night and by the end of the film I was crying and asking DH if we could have another baby !

However I am one very drowsy milkshake today, and the idea of a third baby is but a distant silly thought to me today! DS slept from 5pm till 10pm last night...fed at 10pm, then had hungry baby milk at 1pm, then at 4pm, then woke again at 6pm, but fell asleep after 2oz, but when I tried to put him down again he decided he actually wanted more so I turned around and came back downstairs for another oz! He's now sleeping soundly, but DD is wide awake .
Am going to work on pushing the 5 hour sleep forward so I can sleep too!

Was very angry with DH at 6am as it technically day time and he said he would do those feeds, but instead he just lay thee sighing because DS had woken him . He must have heard me mutering and slamming things when I was downstairs, because he tried to make up for it when DD woke at 6.30 and offered to bring them both down - but what would be the point. I am up now!

So instead he can take DD to her party at the gym this morning! Alas I can't sleep athough as I have to clean the carpets and have been waiting for DD to be out of the house for the couple of hours it will take them to dry!!

jabberwocky · 07/01/2007 07:56

Screw the carpets, baileys. Go to be and get some sleep!

jabberwocky · 07/01/2007 07:56

"bed" even...

BaileysMilkshake · 07/01/2007 08:05

thanks Jabber

No it is really horrible - has been getting worse and I must act. I can see the HV casting her eyes over it whenever she visits

perhaps I'll just do the light bit of the rug in the lounge as that's what drags the whole thing down.

jabberwocky · 07/01/2007 08:13

Now you're talking! I'm up feeding ds2 who just did 3 1/2 hours

Crossing fingers for a repeat performance...

satinshoes · 07/01/2007 09:40

hmmph. i spoke too oon about sleep. she was up from 1pm until 1.30 am and then 4.00 until 7 this morning. I am knackered

satinshoes · 07/01/2007 09:51

10pm

Calmriver · 07/01/2007 10:07

WB and Loulou-theyre gorgeous!!!

BaileysMilkshake · 07/01/2007 12:52

If someone can point me in the direction of instructions for dding a picture I would like to share my lickle guzzler with you all too!

He's just drunk 5oz of HB formula and yicked about half back up on me. He's getting quite a projection on it now - may talk to HV about possibility of him having reflux - oh no!
