First birthdays are starting to arrive and our babies are becoming toddlers! What will the next year have in store?

Oh Team I sympathise. It's frustrating isn't it? My team merged with another team last December and their manager became our manager (our old manager got re-deployed) and whereas our original team had always had positive feedback before, apparently now everything we have done is wrong and we should be doing things the way her old team did things, and her old team are just better at us at everything apparently even though the CQC reports beg to differ . Have you told your new boss that previously you had good feedback etc?

If the conjunctivitis is bad I'd go to the Drs to get drops. The problem you may have if that a lot of nurseries won't take children with active conjunctivitis so best to get sorted quickly.

Congrats on the steps Lil! Won't be long and he'll be running!

Annoyingly I think being ill has thrown my period into confusion. I am currently on CD36 (normally 28-30 day cycle) and all pregnancy tests are a BFN, so I think my body is just skipping a period this month. It's so bloody irritating as now I have no idea where my body is at cycle wise and when I'm going to ovulate again. Sigh. Also DH seems sure that I am late because I am going to get a BFP but I am really dubious (and don't feel pregnant) so think he's going to be very disappointed.

lilone1234 · 24/02/2016 09:54

Does CD36 mean 6 days late for period? When I read conception threads it's like a foreign language to me! If so, still could be a BFP. Good luck anyway KitKat and hope you're feeling better!

Team - that sounds totally rubbish for you with work, probably needs an awkward conversation as your feedback has so dramatically changed!

Lilly - congrats with the steps!

Teeth - DD has not seen the dentist yet, our dentist said around 2 once they have full set of teeth. HV says they can be taken once they have any teeth. Good for them to get used to it I suppose but possibly more difficult while they don't understand the context of it at all. Teeth are such hassle!

KitKat1985 · 24/02/2016 10:03

Thanks Lilone. Yeah I think I'll take DD when she's about 2 too. As far as I know it's only to get them used to going to dentists anyway for the first few years, they don't really 'do' anything for a good few years usually.

And yes, sorry, I mean I am on cycle day 36, so I'm about a week late, with not even a hint of a line of any pregnancy tests. So frustrating!

TeamEponine · 24/02/2016 11:47

My new boss has worked here longer than me, so the issue isn't a lack of awareness, it is that they view my role differently to the previous people in that role and, effectively, has decided that according to her own made up criteria, I'm now shite. Talking to them won't make any difference unfortunately. I might have to work on it higher up the chain. Such a waste of time for everyone involved Sad

I'm now sat in the doctors waiting for an emergency appointment. When I dropped her off at nursery they said two others have it too, so I'm assuming she had it. Ordinarily I'd probably just let it pass with warm water on cotton wool. I'm not feeding any more, so breast milk isn't easy to find Smile However, nursery policy is that they are only allowed in if they have the drops to reduce it spreading. So I'm now at the doctors to get the drops, and afternoon at home with DD and back to work tomorrow.

I'm supposed to be in a big meeting with my boss this afternoon, and I think I would have found it very difficult and rage inducing, so and afternoon with DD is quite welcome! Might do some baking. Cakes always help Grin

Kitkat - until you come on there is always a chance! If not, next month. It sounds like your DH is putting a fair amount of pressure on you though. Being stressed really doesn't help when TTC, so being ill and having to battle through it may not have helped. Hope you're feeling ok about it all.

Not really though about the dentist for DD yet. She still has very few teeth. Still no top front teeth!!! Strange child...

FATEdestiny · 24/02/2016 12:02

DD has been to the dentist several times. But then I take her siblings every 6 months so she just comes along. The main benefit at this age is getting her used to sitting in the chair, letting the dentist look in her mouth - that kind of thing.

When I conceived DC3, I tested negative 5 days after my (always regular) period was due. I happened to have developed thrush but which treatment to use was dependant on if I was pregnant or not and this was out first month TTC. Negative test, so went all-out with treatment (since we were TTC, so getting jiggy often). A week later when I'd still not had my period I POAS again and low and behold, was pregnant afterall.

Our doctors don't like to see children with conjunctivitis, not even tiny babies. I asked why once and it's because even if they prescribe drops, the chances of getting 1 full drop into a baby's eye (without it being blinked out) four times a day is so unlikely that the drops become nothing more than a placebo. It can be dealt with by a pharmacist anyway, but usually clears up within a few days if you bathe the eye several times a day and keep it clean.

Team - Sorry work is pants Flowers.

lil - Exciting times ahead with your walker! Grin

Do I remember someone on the thread being a brownie/cub leader or similar? If so, Happy Thinking/Founders Day! (a bit late). We had our celebrations last night.

LillyBugg · 24/02/2016 21:34

Oh that was me, Beaver leader :) we did st David's day this week as we will be doing Mother's Day crafts next week when st David's day actually is. I always forget about founders day, it is also my DH's birthday!

That's frustrating kitkat that you are getting negative tests but also no period. I've had two unsuccessful cycles of trying so far. We conceived DS on our third go so maybe it will be third time lucky again. My cycles are much shorter since having DS, about 25 days, so I don't feel like I've been doing as much waiting this time around.

I took DS to the doctors when he had conjunctivitis, our nursery had the policy where it must be treated for them to attend.

The dentist...I don't even remember when I last went to the dentist, haven't even considered taking DS yet!

The walking is going nowhere fast. He's really not keen. A few steps with a lot of encouragement. But he seems to think it's a game rather than a method of getting from a to b. At least it's a start though!

CumbrianExile · 25/02/2016 15:02

Hope your DD eyes clear up soon Team.

Our nursery works on the same policy with regards to conjunctivitis. It depends on who I see at the surgery as to whether they will give drops, the first doctor I saw refused for the reasons given above. The second one I saw (the second time A had it) gave me the drops as soon as I mentioned nursery (I think she has a young child herself Grin)

Hope work also improves for you soon Team.

I am the same as you Lilly regarding the dentist. Can't remember the last time I went. I really need to sort it out and find out if I am still registered, and if not find a new one for both of us.

Acorncat · 25/02/2016 16:38

My nursery has the same policy re conjunctivitis which is ridiculous cos if they have a cold then it's likely viral so there is no treatment. Luckily we've only had it mildly and I've just wiped it breastmilk and its cleared up

TeamEponine · 25/02/2016 21:11

She now has it in both eyes, but it is clearing up already!

I've decided that I'm not taking this crap at work and I'm going to stick up for myself! I know I'm good at my job and my boss can't change and make up the rules as they go. Unfortunately I fear that defending myself will most likely antagonise things and they will try to force me out, but I'm not going down without a fight Grin

Acorn - how's things with the cmpi? Are you trying dairy?

cookielove · 26/02/2016 07:22

team I agree you should fight, your boss is being ridiculously unreasonable. Ahhh if we could all live in a world where we oould chop and change the rules without any consequences! Goodluck Grin.

KitKat1985 · 26/02/2016 11:07

Sorry things are still tough at work team. I agree to putting up a fight. Glad to hear the conjunctivitis is clearing up though.

My period finally turned up this morning over a week late. Hmm Gutted. Never mind. Hopefully LillyBugg we both are third time lucky and March will be our month to get some positive pregnancy tests. And at least I can finish that wine in the fridge tonight guilt free

FATEdestiny · 26/02/2016 16:09

So, just put deposit down on this little lady, coming home with us at the end March.

lilone1234 · 26/02/2016 17:09

Sorry no luck this month KitKat! Wine

What a cutie Fate, lovely colouring!

TeamEponine · 27/02/2016 16:10

I won! Well, as much as I could have expected to win against someone who is notoriously stubborn. They've now given me a slightly different interpretation of the feedback on my performance. The implication was it was me misunderstanding, but I now have it in writing that I'm doing fine in my job, so I'm happy with that. I'm slightly dreading what will hit me when workload allocations are next announced. They are not the kind if person to just stand back and admit they are wrong. Defending myself will come back and bite me on the arse, but for now, I am triumphant! Grin

FATE - what a cutie. What type of dog is she?

Kitkat and Lilly - hope next cycle works out for you both!

lilone1234 · 27/02/2016 17:54

Well done Team!! Very hard to stand up for yourself in those sorts of situations, very brave! Wine

cookielove · 27/02/2016 18:19

Wowsers what a cutie pie fate almost makes me want a dog!

E stopped eating last week for just over a week and today he ate almost everything :) he met one set of grandparents today that he hasn't seen for 17 months he was quite shy which we expected!

Acorncat · 27/02/2016 20:31

I'm sure I replied to this the other day but apparently not.

team - still not tried much with dairy, really need to crack on the with milk ladder but waiting for his final teeth to finish coming though. He's always wants what everyone else is eating and I feel bad for him that he can't have it.

Having issues with the high chair just now, he just refuses to go in it. I'd use a low table instead but he won't stay sitting at it. Toys are just so much more interesting than food apparently. I'm actually glad he's at nursery 3 days a week cos he eats proper meals there! So picky at home.

I hate when there's conflict at work, there just never seems to be a non-awkward ending. Enjoy your triumph team, fingers crossed there won't be any bad consequences!

FATEdestiny · 27/02/2016 23:07

Pup is a cocker spaniel, chocolate and tan. You probably don't remember, but we put our 12 year old cocker spaniel to sleep in August. I've been looking for a new dog since December, viewed a few litters. This was the first that felt 'right for us'.

That must have been a worry cookie, glad he's better how though.

DD periodically eats at our low table and sometimes sits in a normal dining chair at the dinner table. She is mostly still in the highchair but try other things too (when the meal is a 'clean' one, so not spag bol)

polkadotdelight · 28/02/2016 07:25

Acorncat DS is being a bit of a pain for refusing his tea at night. A combination of being tired and being too busy playing. I started giving it to him in the bath last week and its working a treat, he eats so much better (for now!) and can make all the mess he likes with his spoon!

Fate very cute puppy!

DS is going through a phase of throwing toys. He looks at me for a reaction so Im ignoring it but its really frustrating!

cookielove · 28/02/2016 08:57

Fate I remember you saying that about your dog! I hope your new puppy fits into your family perfectly! !

We have given E his bottle in the bath but never food I imagine it would get very messy and wet veey quickly!

E is still asleep which is amazing!

polkadotdelight · 28/02/2016 10:10

I hold the bowl for him I should add!!

FATEdestiny · 29/02/2016 12:57

Dinner in the bath! That's a new one on me.

I was looking through our first post-natal thread last night. It is lovely to read it back now that I know you all a lot better.

polkadotdelight · 29/02/2016 13:16

I know FATE not something I ever planned to do but whatever it takes to get food in with minimal fuss. We dont make an issue with food if he wont eat but I do like to get something in before bed. In all fairness he has had 4 new teeth come through together so that probably explains the poor eating.

TeamEponine · 29/02/2016 16:05

Wow, feeding in the bath! Given how messy DD can be, I'm quite tempted.

I do find that DD goes for a few days when she doesn't eat much, then stuffs herself for a couple of days. I was getting stressed about it, but I read somewhere (might have been from one of you!) to think about what they eat each week, not each day. I think I got so used to her not feeding and losing weight when she was tiny that I've been a bit over sensitive to it now.

Rant warning!!!

I took DD to have her chicken pox and men B vaccines done privately at our GPs surgery this afternoon. She had the chicken pox stabbing and was so good! She cried a little, but I cuddled her and told her she was a good girl, and she looked at me, tears in her eyes, and said "good girl"! I gave her a chocolate button and she was totally fine Smile

On the bad side, she couldn't have the men b as there's just been a directive banning GP surgeries from doing it privately. All other private vaccines are fine, just not the men b. Argh!!! I thought I had this sorted Sad

Acorncat · 29/02/2016 16:06

I've done dinner in the bath a couple of times when he's been kicking off around tea time, usually when he's missed his nap and is just knackered. He loves the bath so even if he's having a melt down and refusing to eat he'll be happy enough to eat there! I try not to make an issue around food either, if he doesn't want what he's given then he can have weetabix or porridge (both of which he loves). If I fed him nothing else he'd just feed from me all night Hmm
