First birthdays are starting to arrive and our babies are becoming toddlers! What will the next year have in store?

I've used a britax dualfix since birth, should do him till he's 3 or 4 if he stays short and he still faces backwards, it can turn forwards but hoping not to.

We were down to 1 wake up a night about 4am for a week or so but last few nights have been worse, 2 or 3 wake ups. Don't know what was wrong with him last night but he screamed for 2 hours and wouldn't feed, nothing would make him stop. Didn't sleep till 10.30 then up and 5.30, had a feed and seems fine now, phew!

TeamEponine · 18/08/2015 08:13

DD had a random screaming session yesterday. I wonder if she's finally getting some teeth?! Am I the only one on here who still has a toothless wonder???

holls2000 · 18/08/2015 08:17

Team, b was toothless till v recently. he got 2 in quick succession and now has 4 coming at once. I have decided random screams is teeth. (obviously not a dr but when In doubt.... TEETH.) they are my excuse for everything Grin

cookielove · 18/08/2015 08:57

team E has 6 teeth but he hasn't gained anymore since he was 9 months, he has been teething on and off since then but still nothing else!

ApplesTheHare · 18/08/2015 10:03

Random screaming here seems to be due to teeth as well. If it goes on and coincides with a lot of fist chewing I'll give neurofen and it always seems to help.

Has anybody looked at how many babies share their LOs names from the 2014 data? DD is one of 95 with her name apparently. I'm quite happy with that. Poor DSIS gave her daughter a beautiful, uncommon name 5 years ago and now it's top 5 and there will be 4 with the same name in DN's class at school Shock

PipersOrange · 18/08/2015 12:38

kitkat I was SleeplessSeattle before. I start work in three weeks, it's come up so quickly! Haven't actually bought a next stage car seat yet.. I just can't afford £300 and I haven't found a cheaper one j like yet. We don't actually have a car so it isn't necessary but do try and share lifts to farms/parks where possible so it is on the to do list!

Also trying to sell the ridiculous travel system, why on earth does no one warn you how annoying they are! I wish we had just bought a sling and a maclaren Hmm

FATEdestiny · 19/08/2015 09:14

I gave my eldest son a strong uncommon name 10 years ago (was between 150-200 in the list for his birth year) that now has 3 variations of his name/nickname in the top 50.

I have no problem with his name becoming more popular, just means I am a trendsetter Grin He's still the only one with his name in his year group, which was my plan.

I know how it feels to have a name go from being unique to popular because that is the case with my name. I never knew a single other person with my name as a child. Never met anyone with the same name or derivative. Over the last 15 years though it has gained in popularity and my name is now Top 20. I still find it strange to hear other people say my name when not referring to me.

Baby's name is outside of the top 100, which is enough for me.

Someone asked why I'm looking for a minibus van with a family size of 6. Yesterday is the perfect example. We took two adults and six children to Alton Towers. Had to go in two cars. We have often got extra family or friends when we go out. Plus there is very little boot space in a 7 seater car.

So instead of having two large cars, we are getting a small and nippy 5 seater for one parent and up to four children and a minibus for whole family plus extras.

cookielove · 19/08/2015 10:29

apples please can you put a link on to where we can access the data regarding names?

TeamEponine · 19/08/2015 11:22

This is the ONS names stats...

www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/vsob1/baby-names--england-and-wales/2014/index.html

DD is in the top 50, but not too popular. I still love her name!

KitKat1985 · 19/08/2015 11:26

Cookie are you after 'the list'? I can PM it to you if you like. Or I check for you if you are on it? I won't paste the link here as obviously it contains sensitive info so would rather not share too publicly.

On a side note, DH (who works in IT and knows a bit about IT security), plus with what 'DadSec' are posting on their Twitter page, I think it's likely they have more info that they haven't posted yet. I strongly suggest everyone changes their MN password and if you use the same password for MN as you do on other sites (especially banking etc) then I would strongly advise you to change them asap.

Pipers I do remember you as SleeplessSeattle. :) I know this isn't 'official' advice but we got our Britax car seat second hand off our SIL and BIL (so I can trust it's been well looked after and not crash damaged). Is there anyone you know who you could trust to sell you a 2nd hand car seat?

KitKat1985 · 19/08/2015 11:28

Oops sorry - wrong name data info. Sorry just been reading the hacker thread and got a bit confused. Lol! x

DD's name is in the top 10. Bah.

TeamEponine · 19/08/2015 11:30

This is quite interesting as it maps popularity over the past 20 years...

names.darkgreener.com/#

For "the list", luckily I'm not on it. Someone has posted it on a thread. I think it is in the popular threads area?

KitKat1985 · 19/08/2015 11:33

Ahh yeah people keep linking to it but MN HQ keep deleting the link, although why on earth MN aren't dealing with the fact that DadSec has posted the list onto Twitter and focus on getting DadSec's Twitter page removed I don't know.

TeamEponine · 19/08/2015 12:20

I saw it pasted into a thread as text. Can't remember which one. Think it might be one that a user set up just for checking names.

KitKat1985 · 19/08/2015 13:51

Ahh okay. Well if anyone here wants to check 'the list' I'll happily PM them the link. xx

PipersOrange · 19/08/2015 15:23

Is this the list of names who's details were taken? My password stopped working this week so I had to reset it, not sure if that's related.

We were thinking about second hand but the only ones I know of have been on selling sites and I don't trust them enough. DS name is out of the top100 but to be fair I don't like it any more so I don't blame others for not Confused why everyone told me it was a good idea I don't know, I blame no sleep, we were still undecided on the way to the town hall...

cookielove · 19/08/2015 16:30

Thanks KitKat I already checked that list :)

I was just wondering how many E's were born last year :)

lilone1234 · 19/08/2015 16:45

That's the one Piper. What a carry on!

Going to need to get a new car seat soon too but then i'll also have to get a smaller foldable pushchair to fit in the car too as currently have a Britax travel system. Money money money!

I have a very unusual name, and people associate it as a brand rather than a name so it was actually not very nice at all growing up with the name, and certainly no one else ever had the same name! DD is in the top 50 but not too common, and actually i've found it nice to be able to buy things with her name on (that aren't purposefully personalised) as that's something I was never able to do at school while everyone else found a key ring with their name on it at a gift shop on a school trip!

Hi ladies, I'm home from 9 days in Scotland and there has been a lot to catch up on! Just place marking. When I eventually unpack all the cases and settle a bit I will get involved again never mind that we actually got home 2 days ago

holls2000 · 19/08/2015 21:29

I have to say this hacking thing has really unnerved me. Peoples passwords being published etc. very scary and I think I am going to just take a back seat for now whilst considering what to do. I don't want to stop communicating with you all but I am intimidated, I have to say, by the occurrences yesterday.

FATEdestiny · 19/08/2015 23:18

Maybe I am naive, but from my POV I can't see what a big deal this is. I have just looked at the information on my account and the only information MN have for me is my first name (not surname) and email address - which is a throw-away gmail one.

I've read the OP (and nothing more) of the main MN sticky thread and changed my password. Beyond that won't give it much more thought than basic internet safety.

If my bank was hacked, then I would worry. Or my paypal or amazon accounts because they hold my bank details. But Mumsnet - strikes me as a lot of drama and hype for nothing much more than an annoyance.

Just like picking your battles with children and not giving attention to negative behaviour, personally I'd be inclined to muffle the hype, dis-engage and would definitely not have given credit to named any hacker group.

PipersOrange · 19/08/2015 23:36

Same as view as FATE, and that if my email and password were the same as for other online logins where I had used card details I would be changing my other logins pretty sharpish. But apart from that I'm not worried really.

LillyBugg · 20/08/2015 07:13

Completely agree with fate. I don't really care if my mumsnet account is hacked. There's nothing in there worth having. Don't leave us holls!

holls2000 · 20/08/2015 07:58

I have to say normally I'm quite relaxed about hacking. But this time they have published usernames and passwords, published email accounts of mumsnet affiliates (one of whom I know, but never knew was in contact with mnhq), along with their names and if they hacked your account they had access to your pms. I don't like it. It feels like the stuff I put on here is pretty personal, much more so than emails really in a lot of ways, and I don't like thinking that someone else could have read it all.

FATEdestiny · 20/08/2015 09:23

Assuming you don't namechange a lot, anyone can read what you write on MN by using the Search function?
