First birthdays are starting to arrive and our babies are becoming toddlers! What will the next year have in store?

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/products/images/large/B8981.jpg try this?

LillyBugg · 14/11/2015 23:08

It worked that time! They sell these in sainsburys (well, similar) for only £5. I use them for when I'm using the ergo baby because little feet get cold.

cookielove · 15/11/2015 13:23

The leather sole with give some protection against the elements but not on textures though but it may help until you can get shoes on. Have you ever managed to get shoes on her at all?

lilone1234 · 15/11/2015 21:07

Place marking

No advice for shoes I'm afraid!

Hello Ladies, hope you are all keeping well.

Need some advice please, I thought I'll get ds carers in nursery some gift cards for Xmass, but I am going to give it to them next week to be honest instead of actual xmass.
Now my questions : which stores are good you think for buying gift card? Both carers are young, less thank 27-28 yrs with no family ; have no idea what is the safest store to buy gift cards

Also, he has a main carer who does 3-4 days per week. He really likes her, I mean he really has a bond with her, which is really lovely. Then there is a second carer who takes care of him when the main carer is not around; which could be just less than half the time ! she is also very lovely, but not his favorite.

I am debating with dh if we should get them both equal amount gift cards; dh insists yes and I say no; any opinions ?

And I promise this is my last question : what would be a reasonable amount gift card in your opinion ?

Cookie, should I expect carer to compare gifts ? Btw as per your advice I am going to get a box of chocolate later too...

Team, sorry, no advice on shoes, I had big problem finding shoes too, just one pair in Clarcks fitted him but I am not happy with that either, it is not a great fit. i wanted soft sole, are you looking for soft sole? She will get used to it, you know; ds didn't enjoy it that much either, but he now loves it cause he knows putting them on means going out. I never put shoes on indoors, asked nursery to do the same.

MissMoo22 · 15/11/2015 23:48

Team have you had her measured in Clarks or somewhere? I only ask because you mention a high instep which could mean she needs a more specific size instead of the normal 4, 5 etc. Also, could the shoes be causing any pain?

I am going to be honest and say I am finding M a little frustrating at the minute. She wants to do everything she is told not to and won't listen to 'No' anymore. She gets bored pretty easily too which isn't great when the weather is crap and we're stuck indoors all day. I suppose I just need to keep her busy but it is quite nonstop with her all day now that she is down to 1 nap a day so the rest of the day needs to be filled with activities for her. She won't sit down for quiet time like she used to either which means the housework is getting put to the side and I just have so much to catch up on that I am wondering when I am going to get the peace to do it!

Nazly · 15/11/2015 23:54

Oh sorry, I managed to miss quite a few posts ; Cookie, that's great - we can set a date and meet in London sometime...

Team, just saw what your actual problem is, sorry, no advice here either - I would start gradually from the leather sole ones and then soft sole (cruising one) and so on. There are some great soft sole ones on Amazon worth viewing...

cookielove · 16/11/2015 07:02

nazly you could get the love to shop gift card which is accepted in most shops :) the amount is tricky I can see where you are coming from as clearly one person offers more care to your DS, however I would have thought the other lady would still be there on the days the main carer works. Not sure how the nursery works as so many places vary!

cookielove · 16/11/2015 07:04

Sorry posted that to early, are there any other staff in the room beside these two ladies?

I would get the amounts you want to get, its your money and your gift. If there is another member of staff in the room I think it would be better to give just the one gift vouchers and chocolate for everyone. If there is only these two women then just go with the gift vouchers :)

TeamEponine · 16/11/2015 08:23

I've tried many time to get her measured in Clarks and Startrite, but it's always the same... They don't make shoes in her size (1.5-2 H) and the styles are too tight across the top of her foot. So they always end up saying they are not happy with the fit and to come back in a couple of weeks. After repeating this six times, finally we got a pair that are ok! Grin She goes ballistic when I put them on, but think we just need to be persistent and build up the time she spend wearing them, making a huge fuss of her when she does manage it!

MissMoo - DD is also going through quite a frustrating phase! I hope it passes quickly.

MissMoo22 · 16/11/2015 10:05

Oh wow, 1.5 is tiny!! M is already a 4H! I am wondering how fast babies feet grow, should I buy a 4.5 for xmas or a 5?

Also this is totally shallow but has anyone decided what their LO's are wearing for Xmas? I absolutely love buying M clothes but I am crap at the dressier stuff, she's always in Next tunics and leggings which are lovely but not 'fancy' enough for xmas. We're probably going to my Mums on Xmas day (hospital has said they are aiming to get her home for it) so all the other relatives will be there in their fancy Xmas clothes so I want her dressed nice as I'm hoping to get some photos of Mum and all her grandkids etc. I don't think M really suits red/black so was thinking grey/pink....not very xmassy though?

MissMoo22 · 16/11/2015 10:15

Team, how about something that has an opening over the top of the foot like these

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW-CLARKS-IDA-DOTTY-LEATHER-FIRST-SHOES-CRUISER-BABY-GIRL-TODDLER-UK-2-G-/321918534909?hash=item4af3d704fd:g:ys0AAOSwYHxWHrM-

I have them for M and they are great, easy to get on and as she has fat feet the velcro fastening is perfect as I can leave it a little looser than normal to accommodate her. Her little foot bulges out of the opening but that's why these styles are a little better for the fat feet. She keeps them on no problem too.

lilone1234 · 16/11/2015 14:11

I have similar shoes to those for DD who is a 3G (not the network haha!) and they are good for the podgy feet. They were better than some of the other styles even in a wider fitting.

Xmas clothes: last year I think I had 3 days worth of outfits haha! What about green instead of red MissMoo? Maybe with some gold, that would be Xmas-y. I feel the same about DD and red but do have a red dress she hasn't worn yet. It's 9-12 months though but looks about the same size as her 12-18 month stuff. Someone bought it for us but it was wrong for the summer really but would be a nice Xmas dress. Last year she had a navy and tartan dress with a reindeer on from Mothercare, so no red there either!

Currently stuck in waiting for a plumber. Feeling really tense as still so much to sort out from move but DD very bored and restless all the time as we haven't managed to get out much yet so have such little time to do anything, like you have said MissMoo!

CumbrianExile · 16/11/2015 14:55

Ah Lil stuck in waiting for workmen isn't fun. I had to do it the other week as our heating broke. Once he got here it was fixed pretty quickly but its not being able to go anywhere/plan anything. Especially with LO who want to get out in some fresh air!

Christmas clothes: We are planning a PJ day, playing with all A new toys. Both mine and DH parents live quite far away so before A was born we starting having Christmas at ours and because we have no visitors we stay in Pyjamas all day. We do get new Pyjamas for Christmas though and dress in the new ones. So A has a set of Christmas PJ's for the day. I did get him a t-shirt for his last day in nursery and for any partys he ends up going to though. It has a dinosaur with a santa hat on it Grin

Nazly · 16/11/2015 22:12

Thanks so much Cookie, i didn't know about "love to shop" vouchers; they sound perfect really; there is something for any need or taste in their list...

Team 1.5 is tiny :) 1.5 H sounds super cute x We are 5- 5.5 H but we have some problem of fat feet...

Lil we had unpacked boxes for a long, long time after our move. I do not wish that for you... Hope things get sorted quickly

Miss I am probably either ignorant or biased, but I absolutely love red , a little girl could look most beautiful in red ; but if not I was in Mother Care yesterday to buy a car seat and the number of lovely dresses they have for xmass.... Oh my world, I felt like why am I not having a lovely little girl ?

FATEdestiny · 17/11/2015 15:13

1.5 shoe size is super tiny! Have you tried baby shoes rather than 'proper' shoes? I just googled and UK shoe size 1 is 3-6 month size and UK shoe size 2 is 6-9 month size.

cookielove · 17/11/2015 18:21

Oh no there is something up with E, I am hoping it is just teething but I have a very unhappy little boy Sad and yesterday (well for weeks really) he was so so happy! He was exposed to chicken pox three weeks ago so I am constantly body checking for spots to Blush

1.5 sounds cute but a nightmare for finding a show for. They must make her feet feel all squished in, if she is so wide too :( poor little one! I am determined to find a weather appropriate shoe! Is she tiny in size too? My friend has twins who were premature and one had slow growth in the womb so he is teeny tiny and he has just got shoes a size 2, they were ordered in. His brother is a size 4! Lol

Glad I could help nazly Grin

KitKat1985 · 18/11/2015 12:18

Hello!

Sorry I've been a away for a while. Hoping you are all well (sorry not had time to read all of your posts). Been mad busy here (and exhausted!) with working full-time, a baby who doesn't sleep, a house with a ceiling about to cave in (and subsequent battles with insurance company) and very poorly relatives. Plus we had a joyous few days of Jessica having an ear infection in both ears and crying day and night for about 5 days. I was ready to hang myself

Re: Shoes. I tend to get Jessica measured up in Clarks and then bad mummy alert buy from shoezone or similar. I just can't justify paying nearly £40 for shoes that she will outgrow in a couple of months (and money is tight is right now). She's already outgrown size 3 and is in size 4 now. She doesn't really wear shoes that much at the moment anyway as she is just in socks / tights at home and in nursery, and when she's in her pushchair (with her legs all kept warm under her foot-muff). It's only really for the brief periods when she's playing outside (which isn't much right now as the weather is a bit rubbish).

Nazly could you maybe get the carers something to share (nice chocs or something) if you are worried about giving them vouchers for different amounts? Also they may not be allowed to accept personal gifts so it's worth being mindful of.

FATEdestiny · 18/11/2015 14:39

Hi all. I don't very often post from my phone so thought I'd take the opportunity to upload some pictures. Food pics: oranges, pasta and cake

FATEdestiny · 18/11/2015 14:41

Oops, missed that attachments!

Acorncat · 18/11/2015 16:18

Aww, cute photos!

I still read most days but don't post much now. Not much is changing really! Walking quite a lot now, still not measured for shoes but will do in a week or so. He doesn't walk outside yet, especially with this rubbish weather. Sleep is still pretty terrible, teething and a cold has meant waking at least every 2 hours for weeks. Last couple of nights have been slightly better so fingers crossed!

He's really settled in at nursery now, seems to have a great time each day and would rather play than come home so all good there. Now I'm wondering what to do for Xmas gifts for staff, hadn't even occurred to me!

lilone1234 · 18/11/2015 17:27

What a cutie Fate, so smiley! What's in your pasta? Looks yum!

OP posts:
FATEdestiny · 18/11/2015 17:39

That looks like tomato pasta salad (cold). I often buy those pasta salad pots and we share one for lunch. We have all kinds of pasta tho, her most fave meal of all!

Acorncat · 18/11/2015 18:52

Also meant to say, I love how they're so "helpful" as this age. DS fills the washing machine, empties it again and pushes the basket through. He puts the clothes on the clothes horse, in a pile obviously. He loves to help with the dishwasher but he think that involves climbing in it Confused

It's lovely to see how much they actually observe and copy that I don't even realise Smile

polkadotdelight · 18/11/2015 19:00

Im so jealous to see your pics FATE, my lovely good eater seems to have turned into a fussy little so and so. I thought they were too young for that still?

I check here most days but dont often post because Im often whinging about something!

DS is in size 5G shoes as he is just over a 4 1/2, his feet sound massive compared to all your dainty girls, I think he might grow up to be a battering ram!
