Thats the sad thing Rodeo - my mum didn't cope with it, thats why she has all her problems now. I think it would have made a big difference if she treated the situation as you have

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/01/2007 23:25

Hi Girls
Rodeo - sorry i didn't catch up earlier, hope friday was ok for you all xx

Beks - the pneumococcal jab does tend to leave red hot and bruised areas Seth's was like that and many of the babes i've jabbed have ended up ike that , it seems to be a part of the vaccination although poor Tom having it in his little arm would have gone for the leg myself as their little arms are just too small!!

ChaCha- Why don't you just carry on with the cows milk now as Z has obviously been ok with it?

We're having quite a quiet one this weekend, visited some friends at their new lovely big house today, was really quite , hopefully it'll be us soon!
DH is off to help MIL move a bloody mattress tomorrow morning so will try and blitz DD room as is bursting with junk!

Rodeo will arrange to meet soon , sorry am so crap! I'm off monday and weds normally although i'm off tues aswell this week, if you fancy tues or weds morning let me know!!

xxxxxxxx

Diege · 14/01/2007 11:14

Morning . Good to hear from you L&S; your weekend sounds nice! Know what you mean about house ; we are putting our house on the market soon but our main motive is getting somewhere bigger but cheaper than where we are noe , so not getting too excited! BEKS: L had the jabs in her chicken drumstick thigh, so that might be why she hasn't had a reaction as such. Having said that, since the jabs her sleep pattern has been a nightmare - not settling for naps, waking every hour in the night screaming, then up at 5.30 when we finally give up! Can't remember if this is a normal reaction to jabs/mmr, or just bad timing!
RODEO:was thinking of you on Friday. Glad you were able to get through it OK, and you Los are lucky that you are able to talk about dd and make her part of their lives . NOVA: That is soooo kind of you thank-you so much . Do you remember the socks thing me you and rodeo had going on? Found them yesterday (how small!!) seems a lifetime ago! If you want them back for the next, along with the ones I got myself (if a girl) then just ask! Am sure it's a boy though! .
Right, off to deal with L. Still treading on couscous from yesterday's kitchen cupboard 'explore'! Oh and BEKS meant to say we have had the sudocrem thing . Remember hearing dh shout NOOOOOOOO!!!!! and them turning to see the aftermath

GarfieldsGirl · 14/01/2007 15:22

Hello everyone, how are your weekends? Having a few quiet minutes before we're off to a party at the soft play place.

Rodeo, I'm glad you're able to talk to B&J about your dd. I've always known about my brother, seen his photos, the newspaper articles, and it's never been awkward to talk about him or ask questions. DP, however, like Nova, only found out about his sister later, I think only about 10 years ago, all he really knows is her name & how she died, and he only found out from one of the older ones who remember her.

hmm, KWYM L&S & Diege, about friends houses. I've been to a few of Owens friends houses since he started school & they are all lovely. The school gates are surrounded by Lexus' Audis, BMWs etc though, so we're definately in a different league with our 2 bed terrace & old Renault!

ChaCha · 14/01/2007 16:55

Hi girls, hope you're all enjoying the weekend. Jamboray has recently opened near us so we went there this morning and it was great. I really enjoyed watching DH & DS play, especially DH's excitment at taking him up on the big slide a million times and bouncing on the trampoline Was lots of fun, just wish i could have joined in a bit more - soon eh?!

Thanks for replies regarding the milk confusion I feel so silly, i'm sure DH thinks I'm a sandwich short. No reason for the goat's milk Rodeo other than DH's osteopath blaming his bad back (and other ailments) on years of dairy produce in particular; cow's milk and wheat, so after coming home with lots of literature on the subject one day decided that DS should not go through the same (fortunately though as a result of my mix up he seems fine but in saying that on another thread i read that the brand of Organic Cow's Milk i've been giving him is the only one that's been okay with a child who has intolerance) oh well, enough of my ramblings on that.

Rodeo, Nova, GG - I found each situation interesting on how bereavement/loss has been dealt with - it can have an overwhelming impact on one's mental state not to mention on other family members too. I haven't lost a sibling but I only found out i had one 10 years ago - still haven't met her but i'm hoping that one day i will. Ohhhh life!

Beks - which do you think is better? Man suffering the 'man flu' that we've spoken about here or man just oblivious to ill family? Grrrrr... Anyhow, do hope that you're managing some rest and that the kids aren't suffering too much. My mum caught it from us last time she was here but only surfaced on last visit so we have the sore throats again - it's a vicious circle. Olbas oil was a Godsend last night.

Think i better go and play with DS before i go onto next topic ..... you are safe!!! LOL Talk later x

novadandypowder · 15/01/2007 10:50

Just a quick note to Diege and Rodeo to say that the stuff has been posted today so should be with you tomorrow

Rodeo · 15/01/2007 19:48

Thank you Nova! Can't wait!!
Quiet here today, jamboree sounds fun Chacha, you'll be in there soon enough! Have you made a decision on the milk dilemma? I thought I remembered it was a intolerance thing - interesting about dh's back - I've never heard of that before - but then I'm not an osteopath!
GG, I'm sorry about your brother and dp's sister, I've sadly come to realise that it's quite common, but it's comforting to know you're not alone. BTW, poor Kylie, get well soon!
Diege, these bloomin' 'explorers'!! Jess loves to 'explore' the backs of our bookshelves by throwing all the books off in a matter of seconds, she makes so much mess when left to her own devices! We've also had the sudocrem thing too, with Bella, I even took pictures, I thought it was cute (back when I only had the one child!) I think if Jess did it now, she'd be met with "OH FGS!" not a camera
L&S - looking forward to Weds Fingers crossed for us to bag a sofa!
Hope the jabbed babies are all ok now
Hope everyone had a nice weekend, it's nice to see the nights drawing back again, Spring's on it's way, yay! x

Diege · 15/01/2007 21:30

Hi! Heading off to bed as can't keep my eyes open! Libby has started screaming at night, any time from 3am, and can't ne settled . Naps are hit or miss too, so obviously some changes afoot! Am hoping for a better one tonight, as am working until 9 tommorrow . Moan, moan...
Yes, looking forward to my things arriving NOVA ...thanks again . RODEO know what you mean about different reactions to los according to birth order. We have a piccy of dd1 with food all over her face and bowl on head, whereas with L it's '[tutting] OFGS with youn just put the bloomin' thing in your mouth , to a chorus from dds 1&2 of 'put her on the naughty step mummy!!!'.
Oh, and does anyone have any inspired ideas of what to buy a 7 year-old boy for his birthday? Dh's godson, and we are clueless!

Londoner · 16/01/2007 07:20

Hi all

lol rodeo & diege... I laughed so much ....... but on the plus side that's why they're so free & easy too isn't it, things are no big deal - hey, they still get instant & passionate reactions to what they do....
Diege, hope L feels better soon........ hope you are okay.
bye.

Londoner · 16/01/2007 08:02

Oh, diege, lego or k'nex always went down a storm with my boys......... geomags are great nowadays too. Or get a cut price dvd from supermarket like 'school of rock'. hth.

Diege · 16/01/2007 09:27

Morning girs . Well a slighhtly better night (screaming started at 5am), but have been employing the controlled crying technique after checking nothing is 'wrong' (ie. high temps etc). I know it's controversial, but has always worked form us, and at the end of the killer process the LO is happier too after getting better sleeps! TBH with the long hours we both work, 3am starts aren't feasible! (not that they are for anyone!!!). There, think I've justified CC!!!
Thanks for the advice LONDONER! Some good ideas there, but what are 'geomags'?? . Usually present finding is so easy, as it's almost always girls thinbgs (anything Bratz usually goes down well!! ).
Right, better get going for work!! Later today because of late finish - they're all heart !!

GarfieldsGirl · 16/01/2007 13:28

Diege, this is geomag , or there's magnetix , which is the same type of thing.

Or if you want to go for character type stuff, Star Wars or Power Rangers never fail. (The latest Power Rangers is Mystic Force).

BrownieBells · 16/01/2007 20:34

Hey all! Oh Diege, poor you with the early starts , hope Libby is on the mend soon. Have noticed that T is also having some v. unsettled nights, but (as usual! ) have put this down to his teeth! He has alredy cut the 2 molars on the top, and now is cutting some more big looking teeth on the bottom! poor thing, he is a dribbly snot monster! with pink cheeks and a chesty cough, poor lamb!

Cannot believe where the year is disappearing too already!!?? Have got loads of weekends booked up already - even as far ahead as September! (nothing exciting, that one, as it is a (Brownie/Guide) Training weekend, for leaders) in Waddow, which is in Lancashire! Also got a Brownie Camp in June, an activity day in Feb (all Brownie related!).
Also planned a few walks with friends, and got a friends wedding to go to (remidns me to have a look at your pics on yahoo Beks!) and - the best of all......A weekend away at the end of January with DH, but no T!!! yes we are having 2 nights away on our own, and leaving him with my parents - bliss!!!!

Right - hope all LOs are well, or on the mend, all of our pg ladies are "blooming!" and all I haven't mentioned are doign grand!

B
xx

Rodeo · 16/01/2007 21:28

Evening!
Gilet came this morning Nova it's lovely, everyone commented on it at Toddler's today!
Brownie, you busy thing! So nice to have things to look forward to Think I'm going to Leeds for a girls weekend in Feb for a friend's birthday, and I must start thinking about booking our holiday
Diege - CC totally justified! Urgh at 3am starts, bring out the calpol. Just a joke! What about Pirates of the Caribbean or Doctor Who stuff? I find boys easier - Joe is the easiest child to buy for - anything that's meant for boys - cars, guns, figures, swords.... he loves!
Hello Londoner, are you and yours all well?
Will get off, meeting L&S tomorrow which will be nice Bye x

Londoner · 16/01/2007 22:04

Hi all,

Yeah Rodeo, we're all good thanks. Have gone from almost bonkers bf mum using washable nappies to almost totally weaned baby in disposables in a week. LOL. Omg, life just got soooooooo much easier . Basically I came to the end of my (admittedly very long) tether. Now proud mum to a cute and much more independent toddler... phew.
I did check I had the correct baby after a visit out recently. Slightly wonky eyes, check; naughty grin, check, etc

anyhow, feeling slightly hormonal and mad now so maybe should cart myself off, night!

Beksmum · 16/01/2007 23:45

Hi girls, quick one from me as have just pushed dh off the pc.

Could I ask for an update on the weights, clothes sizes, no. of teeth etc of the lo's as feeling rather neurotic at present after a visit to the HV this week, will explain more when I see what you guys say

Been really rather hectic here, what with coughs, colds and crying 5 year olds, my grandad is in hopsital and I've had a friend over from Cyprus, so I hosted a girls night for her tonight and I have a house full of kids tomorrow, so not neglecting you all, just flaming run off my feet.

Hope the mums to be are blooming and that everyone else is well. Hope to catch up more tomorrow Beks

Londoner · 17/01/2007 10:09

Hiya,

Beks, slow down woman! Things sound break neck for you atm, and hv with foot in mouth disease is last thing you need.
This is for you..x .
Bets is 9.4 kg today, not sure of height but think she is tall, is wearing 18month-2 yr clothes atm, walking well and with shoes, has 8 front teeth and is cutting 4 molars and a pointy dog tooth(?) atm. Hth.

Londoner · 17/01/2007 10:21

That's 20lb 7oz, checked with online converter for you just in case .

alfiesmum · 17/01/2007 10:48

Hello all, looks like I have dropped in at a perfect time for updates!
Really sorry to hear your Grandad in unwell beks , hope he gets well soon x

Oscar was 22lb 4oz two weeks ago, 9-12 month clothes, 4 front teeth, still not walking but been cruising for ever! says one word look! constantly while pointing.
I really wouldn't take any notice of what the health visitors say, I sure Oscar is probably the last of the November babies still crawling but he will get there in the end!

Chacha and Nova hope you are both well and not too exhausted, really look forward to hearing your new baby news(I do read every now and again, but feel a bit out of it now)

Well we are still living in static caravan, roof is going on new house now, and should be finished easter (he says). Not much to look forward to as its going to be sold before we move in, another project in line.
I will try and get some up to date photos on but i'm rubbish with computers.

Love to everyone else i've missed, Jx

novadandypowder · 17/01/2007 11:00

Hi Alfiesmum, lovely to see you drop in

BEKS - Noo is 2 stone(ish) maybe a little more as she wouldn't stand still on the scales I borrowed from my neighbour to weigh some parcels. She has 3 teeth on the top with one more being very slow to come through but you can see it under the gum, and two teeth on the bottom, although I noticed a hole in her gum where another is beginning to work it's way through last night. Depending on the shop she's in 18month - 2yr clothes, although in Gap she's a 2-3yr. Her walking has really taken off now, but still no recognisable words. She's 15months now. HTH, I gave up with the HV when they told me noo was fat.

Have been really sick again, appears to be the same bug I had over xmas . DH terrified I'm going to go into early labour, and I must confess it crossed my mind too on monday night as my cramps were really bad. Appears to have settled down now, but must rest more.

Beksmum · 17/01/2007 11:26

Morning girls, thanks for the updates, reason I was so cryptic was that the HV did indeed have foot in mouth syndrom it seems. I got Tom weighed on Monday and he was 30lbs 10oz or 2stone 2lb in old money and she was horrified and gave me this big lecture about over feeding him etc and I came away feeling awful as I didn't think he was that out of proportion. Especially as I'd actually been worrying more about Ben who is all skin and bone, you can literally count his ribs at the moment it's horrible.

Tom is 79cms tall and wearing 18mth to 2 year clothes so I thought he was okay, but then she got me worrying, but from your feedback I can see he's perfectly ok. He is a sturdy "bonny" baby with 13 teeth like E. His walking has really taken off now, as he wants to run rather than walk and he has stopped cruising around on his knees, so I know the weight will fall off him, but you know what it's like when they catch you on a low day As for talking Tom has about 6 to 8 recognisable words and lots of jabber!

Nova, hope you feel better soon and that you manage to get some rest, can your dh stay home and look after you or Nat?
I think I have the same thing as you but I'm also not sure that I haven't given all my friends food posioning Still gets me out of having all the kids over tonight and it's helping my non existent diet!!!

Alfiesmum, how lovely to see you, Oscar sounds gorgeous, bet you're relieved he's not walking aren't you Can't believe you are still in the caravan and not moving into your house at the end of it - are you mad woman . All sounds very exciting though and I take my hat off to you, I definitely couldn't do it.

Right off to spend more time in my bathroom, thanks again girls it's another worry off my mind Love to all Beks

Diege · 17/01/2007 13:38

Afternoon! Glad you mind is at rest BEKS ; honestly HV's, don't get me started!! . Good to hear from you ALFIESMUM , glad things are progressing, albeit slowly! NOVA: missed the parcel, but I have the card, so just arrnaging redelivery! Can't wait!
Thanks for feedback on CC RODEO ; yes, can't think of a do-able alternative, and after another super-early start this morning, I'm more determined than ever to crack this one!! Queena says early waking (4/5ish) can take up to 6 weeks to solve though, as you're on dodgy gropund what with it being so close to real 'getting uo time' anyway! (ie, just when you've done an hour or two of it, you have to get them up anyway!!!I'm happy with 6am, but somehow 3/4/ 5am seems real 'middle of the night stuff
Starting to get excited thinking about ttc again , (not the 'act' I hasten to add , but the general anticipation etc)!! We were talking about it the other night, and dh doesn;t reackon he'll find 4 harder than 3, esp as dd1 & 2 will be in school . Will of course keep you all informed when the time comes with far too much information - you know I can't keep anything back!
Right, better get tidying before L wakes up - she's settled well for her nap, so hopefully is realising the futility of challenging 'she who has the knowledge!!'

Londoner · 17/01/2007 18:26

Hi,

Hi alfiesmum, good to read your update, sounds busy busy busy! Good luck with ongoing projects, Oscar sounds v.cute.

Nova, sorry to hear you're sick again, how unfair! Hope you feel better v.soon. Remember that feeling of sensing earlier delivery - I'm sure you'll be okay and it will pass, hang in there.

Beks, really glad you feel reassured. Sounds like you say, Tom is on top percentiles which is perfectly normal. Meant to say in post earlier that he looks perfect and healthy beautiful baby to me! Kids really do come in all shapes and sizes, have had so many tactless comments in my time too esp on ds1 as he's always been so huge for his age - was on 103rd centile for height at 2 year check but only 50th for weight...Perhaps you might explain to your HV () how her clumsy assessment made you feel next time? She might not realise?

Diege, poor you! We have night waking here too, and have been 'training' too but with the CC standing next to cot/gradually disappearing chair method, prob with this is she wonders where the hell I am when she stirs so will prob end up doing what you're doing in long run. Good luck, it takes a lot out of you emotionally doesn't it? Just a thought, have they changed her routine at nursery recently/changed staff or maybe they need to adjust her nap times there to less in the day perhaps?

Hi Rodeo! Been riding this week yet?
Hi everyone else too!

Londoner · 17/01/2007 18:27

Oh, and v.v. excited about no.4 Diege, and glad you're chatting to us about it.

Londoner · 17/01/2007 18:36

..... and another thing

Beks, how are things on Ben's sleep/leg pain front? Any answers or progress? What is Tom's sleeping like? Bets is erratic and has been waking every 2-3 hours after going down at 9 or 10pm but since I've been weaning her it seems to be improving, fingers crossed. She is even napping in the day now, a pattern is at long last emerging! sorry, that's prob not much help . It seems a few of the babes are going through an unsettled stage though doesn't it? Possibly teething?
