Ladies, thought I would do the new thread as the other one is taking forever to load up.

OP posts:

Bloss and kbaby-gorg pics.

kayzed-Rosh must be keeping most things down as her weight gain is superb. Sophie is still in 0-3 clothes and size 3 nappies. Can't believe how well she sat today especially in the bath. I think you may be right about the going straight to crawling bit. Can't wait for Sophie to say mummy or something similar. DD1 was 20 months before she said it so perhaps a long wait is in order. Still no teeth either but when I look, DD1's started coming through at 10 months.

Must stop staying up late-getting as bad as you prettymum Hope things are improving chez vous.

frumpy-hope today was OK.

thanks for comments girls re pics. i read and re-read them, then go back and look at the pictures again, then read them again. Saddo that I am.

KZ, totally agree with you that DH will be better suited to older boys. He just doesn't seem to "get" babies. He does remind me when I am frustrated at doing EVERYTHING that when I am sitting at home on a Saturday afternoon, reading books and magazines, watching the Living Channel and painting my nails while he takes both boys to the footie I will have forgotten the unequal labour division of these early days. Hmm, we will see. Fricking hope our sons like fishing and football, or we are screwed. I have neglected to mention, as I have been busy slagging him off, that I got a beautiful half carat diamond ring for Christmas from my DH. So he is not all bad....

KBaby, glad things are settling....beautiful pics. He looks like a right bruiser, same as Tobes!

KZ, Toby has a strawberry birthmark in the corner of his right eye, which you can't really see in the photos (also not sure if I can call it a birth mark as it wasn't there at birth IYSWIM). Doctor said is it will probably grow with him as he gets bigger an dthen disappear altogether before he is five, or get lasered. Everyone comments on it, usually to say "Oh he's got something in his eye" and I have to leap into action to prevent them attacking it with a finger!!

Not overly chuffed to log onto my bank account last week and discover that not only had I paid for our Christmas, I seemed to have paid for someone else's as well...£700 down through 7-8 transactions that weren't mine! Not even I could spend £381 in Superdrug in one go, and loads of football websites etc. Bank is crediting me back thank goodness, but still annoying, and now have no card till they send me a new one. Oh well, a good way to save money i suppose....

DH fishing again today, he has my cold, har har, well enough to go and sit by a cold lake however. I just don't get fishing at all....at least I don't have to go! We have a kids party at a sportscentre this morning then an afternoon at a friends house. Well that's if Toby gets up that is, he is still asleep! Went down at 6pm last night, had a bottle at 6am, and went back to sleep! I hope he is always like this...

Right, essay over. have good days gals!

you all go to bed so late! I watched This Life +10 last night and got panicky that it finished at 10.20! Dh was laughing at me as I practically ran to bed....

FestiveAtForty · 03/01/2007 09:59

Bloss you get up so early! I couldn?t get it together to compose anything at 8am unless I had some kind of hideous deadline to meet I watched ThisLife too. Scary about the bank fraud thing Agree with you about fishing, definitely can?t see the attraction ? still, if your boys both get into it then lots of lovely free time beckons for you! They are gorgeous boys, so similar in looks, you?ll have to take lots of comparative ?same age? photos.

HC ? like the new name! Sorry to hear of the ongoing in-law trials . Oh and having researched this topic at some length (as it is close to my heart), I very much doubt that your bottle of Blossom Hill could have made Sophie sick so DON?T feel guilty! Emma?s still a dainty wee thing too, 0-3 tops, size 3 nappies but she has to have 3-6 month sleepsuits as her legs are long but skinny (DEFINITELY not something she has inherited from me, grrrrr).

Kayzed ? lovely pic of Roshi, still can?t believe those flowing locks . Good that she?s not losing weight, it is amazing how they conserve energy isn?t it?

Kbaby ? glad the sleeping?s going better. Very cute pics - I?m sure he?ll love his Christmas pressy with time!

Prettymum ? hope Junior is a bit more chilled out now after his exciting Christmas!

Wallace and Ceebee, Leo and Josh both look just edible

Mae ? good news on the napping, sitting and sleeping!

Usandnosleep ? Zack really is a total cutie! Don?t know if it?s my overactive imagination because I know they were born at about the same time but he does remind me quite a lot of Emma (not in a girly way though of course!), I?ll post some more pics soon. Hope the sleeping?s still going better.

I had meant to move Emma into her own room before now but can?t face it, especially as she?s still waking up quite a lot. Also her ?nursery? resembles nothing more than a laundry come junk room at the moment

Hope work?s going okay for those who are back this week. I?m doing a half day this afternoon and a whole day tomorrow, we had a ?settling in? session at nursery yesterday, Emma was absolutely fine (had a nap and everything) but I was miserable leaving her there. Felt a bit better after I had picked her up, we?ll just have to see how it goes.

Have good days all xx

MarriedToTheMob · 03/01/2007 10:05

OMG-Ebay have paid me £105 as compensation for poxy laptop and my tumble dryer that DH has finally allowed me to have is being delivered today! Me is chuffed!

Bloss-my DH doesn't 'do' babies either-he likes them when they move about and do things. Annoying about the fraudulent Switch transactions isn't it? Gits-I should think they were all online transactions where you don't need a PIN. Happened to my dad and numerous other customers-'tis the one thing Banks can't stop unfortunately (at the mo anyway)

kayzed-I always hold Sophie in the bath but can't always stop the diving antics. A mat sounds an excellent idea. Will have to investigate.

Hi to all and hope you have a good day. Can't one handed type any longer.

MarriedToTheMob · 03/01/2007 10:06

Festive-thanks, I feel better now.

Wallace · 03/01/2007 11:31

Shock at the bank bloss! Love the photos - he fills that babygrow doesn't he! I go to bed early when I can, I went straight afterthis life too. Are you like me - you see there is a good film on, but then get disappointed because it doesn't start til 10?

kbaby - glad the sleep wa a bit better. Leo sleeps in a vest, babygrow, cardigan, 2 tog grobag and one or two blankets, but our bedroom is very cold - noheating! Leo als o does the eating toes thing when he is sitting, or if he has a toy he will bring his mouth down to it - daftie! Lovely photos too - love the foot one

kz - glad roshi is still gaining weight, she does sound like she is doing fab with the sitting, etc

Leo has really taken off with the babbling . He had done the odd "a- da" before but on new years day he started "dadadada" and yesteray "blah blah blah" no "mama" yet though This morning before he even opened his eyes he was lying there going "dada blah" I tried telling dh that he wanted him to get up with him but no luck!

Wallace · 03/01/2007 11:41

Started writing my post about 2 hours ago so cross posted.

MarriedtotheMob - perfect name Somebody gave me a bath seat and I put Leo in it for the first time the other day. Very handy when bathing the kids together, but dangerous because it is so tempting to pop out of the room for a minute

festive - glad settling in went well, must be hard for you though xxx

SleepInHeavenlyPeace · 03/01/2007 11:57

Hi all,
Just back from the doctors getting something for Sefton's excema - poor little chap...

I decided to be a lovely mother and buy some organic sweet potatoes to make some puree the other day. Dutifully went into Fresh and Wild and bought 3 sweet potatoes.
AND GUESS HOW MUCH IT COST?

£5!!!!!!!! For 3 sweet potatoes! I am not often gob smacked.
So, anyway, I thought "well it will be his first sweet potatoe, want to give the best I can to him" etc etc etc

ANd then I made it and - to add insult to injury - I didn't put enought water in the steamer and burnt it all! GUTTED!

Ho hum, boring story but I am very annoyed with myself!

MarriedToTheMob · 03/01/2007 12:14

Sleep-you are a good mummy for buying Organic. I would love to but a) too expensive to do all the time and b) doesn't last as long as ordinary things. Doh-to the burnt steamer though. I microwave all my veg-don't have a steamer.

afternoon everyone

sleepinheavenlypeace- what did your gp give sefton for his eczema because junior has really dry skin and ive used aquoes(don't laugh the spellings wrong, cant remember!) and now trying aveeno cream as ive heard a lot of good things about it.

HC- glad you got the money!!

blossom- dp loves his cricket and he goes back to traing soon as he plays it every weekend throughout summer!! he's already buying cricket gear off ebay so now i have more junk lying around our small flat!

kz- i have a slip mat thing in our bath, it still doesnt stop junior sliping!! but i guess it doesnt help with dd trying to climb over him!!

kbaby- lovely pics of ds!! he is soo big!

wonder how koshka is!

well junior is teething and it must be really painful because he is so miserable!! he did settl;e earlier last night but woke a few times and needed a cuddle to fall back to sleep!

he woke at 3am and was miserable and coughing so much so dp took him to living room to watch cricket and fell asleep shortly after.

i go to sleep late because i like to have time to myself, so sit around finding bargains on net, watching rubbish telly and tidy when i get my arse off the seat.

im gonna go and feed myself so chat later!

SleepInHeavenlyPeace · 03/01/2007 12:56

oooooh - getting kitcheware for Xmas is a big no-no!

Pretty, the GP gave me very mild hydrocortisone to treat the affected areas, and I have been using Aveeno cream too (on the NHS)- it is very good. Also Oilatum for the bath.

Dont think I have posted a pic of my little man for ages - here is a recent one, a bit blurry though.
smiling

Need to takae him out for a walk now, but it is so miserable outside

maewest · 03/01/2007 13:25

Update - after the euphoria of yesterday's 'falling asleep by himself' episode the rest of yesterdays and last nights sleep went completely up sh*t creek . DS had a bit of sleep in the car during outing to buy highchair (successful) but then when we got home he had a feed and was acting sleepy so took him up to try and settle him at 2.45pm. TWO HOURS later he was still not asleep, there was screaming, there was crying (not just from him). Even the magic boob didn't work - he passed out briefly then woke screaming again . In the end we gave up and he sat happily on DH's lap for an hour chuckling and grinning. He fell asleep at bedtime and then woke up constantly throughout the night wanting to be cuddled to sleep, but only by me, DH got the screaming treatment. Eventually he had a proper feed at 2am and settled until 6.30. I then fed and changed him and took him into bed. He then scratched my face for a bit and we both fell asleep for nearly 2 hrs! DH had been banished to the spare room long before after terse words had been exchanged. I'm now so obsessed with him sleeping that I walked out with the buggy today and walked until he slept, didn't let myself come home until he'd woken up again. DH is now out on buggy duty, so I'm off for a kip.

Hopefully this will all get easier when DH goes back to work and I can get back into my own way of doing things (sounds awful when I write it down, but it's kind of true)

Ceebee74 · 03/01/2007 15:13

Pretty - we can moan together during the summer then as DH is an obsessive cricketer and plays all summer - he was upset that Josh was born on a Friday as it meant he couldn't play on the Saturday (well, he could but I put my foot down!)

Bloss - about the bank - I bet your heart dropped when you saw what had happened - I know mine would have done. I agree with you about these reprobates who stay up late - I have to be in bed by 10 every night - how sad is that? I missed This Life cos it finished late!! I always log on here in the mornings and there are tons of posts from the late-nighters!!

Sleep - how cute is your little man eh?

Festive - good luck with work - hope it goes ok and you don't feel too bad. Sounds like your lo was ok at nursery if she had a nap etc so fingers crossed it went ok.

Am out tonight for a works leaving do so DH is doing the bathtime/bedtime routine by himself for the first time - god knows what state everything will be in when I get home!

Josh is still not interested in sitting up at all - we got given a cushion thing to help him but he just reclines on it and throws his head back to watch telly - lazy git!!

Beadmum · 03/01/2007 15:52

Bloss, kbaby, sleep - gorgeous pics

kz- thats good roshi is putting weight on, hope the feeding improves soon though. she sounds like a little expert at sitting now, thats great, charlotte can only sit for few seconds then flops over and gets frustrated. she can sometimes get herself back up depending if she has only flopped forward or not, cant wait til she is sitting as i think she'll be much happier as she will be able to sit and play with her toys better. still no rolling either but by the sounds of things that might not happen til much later so will stop worrying.

Charlotte sleeps in sleepsuit and sleeping bag, room is normally 19-20degrees and she mostly sleeps through, feel like i am freezing her compared to others though but since shes sleeping she must be ok, guess babies differ to what they are used to.

Charlotte hasn't any teeth yet, even though mil was convinced she was teething at 3 weeks so glad she didnt get any just to prove her wrong

prettymum - im the same as you, always seem to go to bed later, just like to feel i have some time to myself

bloss - really bad about your bank, good you getting your money back without any hassle. scary how easy that can happen these days

how is work going for those who are back?

ive ordered one of those bath seats from ebay, charlotte keeps slipping now too.
wallace - did leo sit well before you put him in bath seat, do you think i would need to wait until dd is sitting better first? great about the talking, typical no mama yet, sure it wont be long. good try with dh though

sleep - well done for the organic buying, it was the thought that counted, sounds way too expensive sorry it got burnt though

cb - at josh lying back watching telly

charlotte has last jab tomorrow so hope she is ok for it, her cold is almost gone so they should still give her it, this is 2nd appt as had to cancel last one as she had sickness bug. Was planning to start weaning over xmas hols but didnt as thought there was no point since she was unwell and better to wait so might try something this weekend, v.excited about it.

feel ive been rambling on for ages so better get going
bye for now xx

kbaby · 03/01/2007 16:47

10.30pm seems to be my limit also. I bolt upstairs leaving dh to do all the door locking, turn lights off etc.

Sleep- don?t worry I just burnt ds?s pears by letting it boil dry. Weve had a marathon cooking sesh today ready for weaning, ive done potatoes, carrots, courguette, parsnip and apples. Just waiting now for that golden day.

Dh is peeing me off, he bought himself a hard drive to download all his albums to in readiness for an ipod, so this week every living moment is spent on the pc typing in song titles leaving me with 2 kids and then huffs and puffs each time I ask him to do something grgghh?

I haven?t been brave enough yet to bath both dc together, poor ds wouldn?t know what hit him esp as dd has a willy obsession.

SleepI- lovely pic he looks a proper tinker.
Maewest- I hope today has gone better for you,

Ds woke at 12pm for a feed and then woke again at 4 but didn?t want feeding, he just wanted to come into bed for a cwtch. We need to start 3 bottles a day now, the only bf ill be keeping are the 4am and 7am ones, although I have a feeling my milk is reducing as ds is crying after feeding on the 1 boob

Ds has decided he hates the playgym and screams in frustration because the toys don?t come off and as hes only just started making noises then I guess babbling is way off for us yet.

MarriedToTheMob · 03/01/2007 17:33

maewest-((xx)) hugs to you hun. So disappointing when it all seemed to be going so well. Hope things get better for you. Don't know what to suggest as I have always avoided pushing prams or car rides to get them to sleep as I worried that I would be doing it all the time as they got used to going to sleep that way IYSWIM.

Sophie sleeps in a bodysuit, sleepsuit, Mothercare oversuit and under a sheet and blanket. The temp on the monitor is always off the scale so have to switch the sound off to stop the bleeping. Our house is v. hot though but both girls sleep well so will stick with it.

Sleep-yes, kitchen ware Will never forget Chrimbo 2003 when DH got me a coffee maker, 2 bags of coffee and a snowsuit for DD1! GGGGGRRRRHHHH!!! Don't drink coffee and she already had a snowsuit. Bah-we didn't speak for days then he took the coffee maker back and bought himself a Playstation Game instead. It has never happened since

kbaby-GGRRRHHH at your DH-they have no idea most of the time. I would stick both children in the bath together-it is great fun.

I have been given a BF pillow the other week which is excellent for propping Sophie up-perhaps that is why she has got better at sitting.

Must go as she is crying-she has had her tea so I wonder

Toodle pip!

I use a bath seat with the Tobster, since Day one. I think it's fab, although Wallace you are right, it is tempting to duck out of the room, so tempting that I have actually done it.... just to get a towel, but dreadful I know, won't do it again....He is outgrowing it now though. And yes, he does fill his sleepsuits, they are 6-9 month ones, so I am going to have to go into the loft and get DS1's 9-12 month ones, which I had put away thinking I wouldn't have to use them for ages!!!

Maewest - hugs - that sounds well stressful..

maewest · 03/01/2007 20:34

Sorry my last post was so negative, think I've got it out of my system now - thanks for listening

I'm pretty sure that the unsettledness at night is down to not enough sleep during the day. Trouble is the boy is so damned cute - he'll play happily for hours but then gets too tired and cries when I try and get him ready for a nap. Think my priority now is to make sure that he gets his naps during the day, whatever it takes, so that he's not overtired at bedtime. So today for example after waking at 6.30 he co-slept with me from 7-9am, then had 45 min buggy naps at 11ish and 1.30ish. Then at 4ish he was getting wired so fed him lying down in our bed on and off until he dropped off at about 4.30 for another 45 mins. Result was that we had a really relaxed bath time and better bedtime feed (no screaming!). Then he went to sleep by himself in the cot again, with me lying in the bed beside him, but still! .

Apologies for long and tedious posts detailing my boys sleeping habits... but it could be worse, don't get me started about his bowel movements....
