KZ - sorry that Roshi is still puking - let us know how you get on with the LF milk (Josh still has the runs and I think he has developed a temporary intolerance too).

Kbaby - Josh still has loads of naps a day too - he usually gets tired about 2 hours after waking aswell. Depending on what time we got up, his last nap can be between 5-6 aswell so I wouldn't worry about it.

Mae - why do people automatically assume a baby is hungry when they cry? My MIL is a nightmare for that - the minute a whimper comes out of Josh's mouth, (even if it has ionly been 30 minutes after his feed) - she always says 'ooh are you hungry again'. The best one though with my MIL is that he grumbles when he is tired so I put his dummy in to calm him and obviously he sucks on it (cos that is what you do with dummies) and everytime, she says ooh he must be hungry, look at how he is sucking on that dummy'! I really feel like saying, of course he is sucking on it you daft old bag cos that is what dummies are for - but of course I don't cos I am a dutiful DIL

I am another one joining the 'rock and roll' clan tonight - night in with a bottle of wine for me - I have already warned DH that I might go to bed and then set the alarm just before midnight - went down like a lead balloon!!

Anyway, have a good night whatever you are all doing and a Happy New Year

Morning ladies was just thinking this is the 4th year in a row i have been pg or bf so no big boozy Hogmany or New Year for me again.
Hey maybe next year??
Will almost def be bf still so maybe not lol.

No advice for you mummies with sleep probs. My babies have never slept thru the night till they were about 2 yrs. I co sleep tho so works for me.Eilidh goes down about 7.30pm and i usually lift her for a feed when i go to bed.She wakes anything between once and 2/3/4 times for a small nurse during the night.Dd1 still going down at night like a veritable angel.Tis bliss.

We will be staying in with the boys for New Year(girls in bed yeehah). Can't imagine going out and leaving the children with my mum/babysitter to party.Would hate to be apart from them at New Year.My mum and dad will come for a meal on New Years day.Nice and quiet after catering for the masses at Xmas.

Have had enquiries from prospective mindees parents and had one 7 yr old for a couple of visits. He is bloody awful but i think i can poss train him to behave properly(i hope).
Can't believe what some parents feed their kids either but hey her kid so her choice i suppose. Will have him on a trial period in January and bin him in Feb if he doesn't improve.

Anyhoo off to boots to weigh myself, have put on weight over xmas for sure but want to know how much exactly so i don't die of fright on Thursday at my class.

have a good night all

afternoon girls.

Sleepinheavenly...at the moment I am offering Toby food at 5pm and he is eating at least have a jar of fruit puree. He didn't like baby rice at all. However he goes to bed at 6pm, and last night didn't drink all his bedtime bottle, and woke at 12 for milk because of that so today i am going to move his teatime to 4pm. so he has:

8oz milk on waking.
Then 8oz bottle every 2.5/3 hours after that.

Tea at 4pm.
Bedtime bottle at 6pm.
Sleeps through till 6am.

Long may it last......

I will gradually reduce the amount of milk in his bottles to maybe 6 ozs as i introduce lunch time and breakfast, over the next 4 weeks. Very bland veg and fruit purees until he is 6 months....all a bit "suck it and see" at the moment as I have no idea what I did with DS1, have completely forgotten!

So sorry to hear about everyone's sleep issues. Not much advice here I'm afraid, Toby is a dreamboat on the sleep front (at the moment). I did CC with DS1 at about 9 months to break his 5am bottle habit, and it did work. Hard to know what's best when they are so little....I do know that DH and I feel like new people after a week of decent sleep though, now that DS1 is not waking up at 5am anymore...

Rock and Roll night in with Champagne for us too tonight! Wahey!

DH going fishing for three days next week, and to be honest it will be a relief. He is great in so very many ways, but he really loses his temper with DS1 so quickly when he does not do as he is told and I am fed up with refereeing and trying to explain to him that DS1 is a two year old boy and not a robot...sigh.

Happy New Year everyone.

Bloss

Love Mandy and Emma xx (and DP but he'll be too shy to put his rl name on!)

SleepInHeavenlyPeace · 31/12/2006 21:28

Happy new year, ladies and babies!
This time last year we were not allowed to have the champagne!

Wallace · 31/12/2006 22:06

I will probably still be on here at midnight because I am home alone (dh working) so I won't say happy new year yet.

kbaby - there is hope on the sleep issue. Leo has settled by himself for the last 3 nights. Also sleeping well during the night - last night went to sleep at 9, woke up at 4:30 (might not have woken if I hadn't banged the cot by mistake!) then settled after a feed and didn't wake until 10am!

I think the things that are really helping are:

  1. Putting him down before he gets too tired
  1. I put a t-shirt, which I had been wearing all day, in beside him and he snuggles into it
Wallace · 01/01/2007 00:10

Happy New Year!!!!!

Almost forgot I was so busy getting drunk in the bar!

maewest · 01/01/2007 09:20

Happy New Year! (didn't make it to midnight, practically fell asleep on the floor after 2 glasses of wine .)

ImpyChica · 01/01/2007 12:03

Happy '007 everyone!! Hope the new year brings good health and happiness to you and yours. Second Jan 1st in a row that I've woken up with a clear head and not had my head down the loo all day!! (needless to say last night was hardly a night to remember!)

Xmas was fun - travelled back to UK to stay with in-laws and my parents stayed there too (we're lucky - we all get on really well - but then I haven't seen my brother in over ten years....so it's not perfect....).

Ryan got another cough/cold and the doc prescribed anti-biotics, which wasn't fun. Apart from that he's been super talkative and in great spirits. Still no rolling though....

He slept in same room as us at in-laws and was a complete nightmare - constantly waking and we had to resort to co-sleeping to get us through the nights. Was worried he'd kick up a fuss about being back in his own room in Madrid but he's been really good and only grumbled a bit.

Weaning has been slow. Gave up over xmas as he was poorly and just wanted comforting. So far he only really likes fruit. He spits carrot and potato back out and makes himself sick too... bulimic baby... guess he's got a sweet tooth like his old ma...

Sorry to hear about others' sick babies. Hope all on the mend now.

Funny you mentioned that fluttery feeling, SleepHeaven - I get it too and wondered what it was about! (didn't think to do a pregnancy test as it would be pretty unlikely!)

I understand the broody feeling some of you have been having - little babies are so addictive! But not going to think about trying for another just yet...

Well, happy NY again! Impy xxx

kbaby · 01/01/2007 14:08

I found out how ds is sleeping all night at my mums, shes boiling him to death! Hes been going to bed wearing sleepsuit, 2tog gro bag, 1 sheet and 2 blankets in a 19c room, ive only been putting him in a gro bag which is the recommended amount for a 18-21c room. He slept long enough last night for us to enjoy the new year, he went down at 8.30 until 1am and then woke again at 4am so not too bad and he actually went straight down after his feeds which is a miracle, although I have resorted to putting him down on his side so we managed to enjoy an Indian and glass of champangne.

IamBlossom- I know what you mean with your dh, dh is off work this week to spend time with us all b4 I go back to work and so far has spent all morning on the pc downloading songs while ive entertained dd and read thousands of stories, done dinner etc. Ive kicked him off now though on the pretence of ordering a photo calendar for his sisters birthday

prettymum · 01/01/2007 15:26

Tis me (Superblue/xmasstocking - this is the final namechange - I hope!)

Happy New Year to you all! Hope you all had a fab evening.

Kbaby - I only put Josh in a babygro and a 2.5tog grobag - but our room is usually 21-22 degrees and DH won't have it any colder! But if he sleeps at your mums, maybe there is something in it - could be worth a go.

Blossom - my Dh has been exactly the same - he has had 2 weeks off and everytime I ask him to do something, he tells me he is on holiday and is chilling out! I asked him when I get my holiday but got no answer! Even worse, he won't feed Josh at the moment cos everytime he has done recently, Josh pukes on him whereas he doesn't seem to puke on me - plus he has avoided all nappy changes since Josh got the runs so I have no idea what he has done these last couple of weeks!

Thought I would put some recent photos of Josh on taken over Christmas.

sat in his Christmas present

smiley - kind of!

what's so funny?

Going to a MN meet up tomorrow which I am looking forward to - even just to get away from DH for a bit!

Just doing my proud parent bit ... Ali has managed to sit up on her own today while playing on her mat.. Granted she had a few wobbles and ended up eating mat a couple of times, but seems to have cracked it tonight !! So proud [doting parent symbol !].
Made up for the huge pile of washing created this morning when she puked alien-style all over her new outfit, rocker chair, pram suit (was at side of chair).
Hope everyone had good night last night by the way. Rather uneventful here as DH was at work.
Must dash, washing to dry.....

frumpymummy · 01/01/2007 21:39

Forgot to say...... Good luck to everyone back at work tomorrow. My first day back in morning , just been sorting out uniform ready, luckily seems I can still fit into it, diet must be working after all, obviously CAN have chocolate still..... and cream, and booze, and cheese, and bread....
Really have got to go now. Need to sterilise lots of bottles ready for DH (obviously not for him, for DD really) so he can feed her. He doesn't know whats coming to him Can't wait til tomorrow night, he'll be bald and cream crackered . Bet she'll be an angel for him ...

DonCorleonesDaughterInLaw · 01/01/2007 21:40

Evening ladies

'Tis me HC with a different name-still seeking the ever perfect name though

Happy New Year !

On my new laptop by the way-v. pleased with it and v. skint now. Must use it to try and manage my lack of funds!

Hope you all had a good evening. Have decided once and for all that I hate the in-laws and that I will just have to tolerate them for DH's sake. I drank a whole bottle of Blossom Hill to get through the evening and was not even hung over-think the adrenaline was pumping overtime. kamikayzed-tried some 'comments' but they all bounced back.

We didn't go to bed until 4am but luckily both girls slept until 9-30am ish so did get some sleep-a tad tired now.

Sophie is feeding and sicking well and pooing at least 6 times a day so all good fun.

Looking forward to the year ahead and hearing from you all. Good luck to everyone due to return to work. My diet has got to start soon as I have put on 10lb DH back to work tomorrow-hurrah! Think I will take the trimmings down tomorrow and I have got to start planning a Christening.

I know some of you have mentioned flutterings-the other night I was lying in bed and my tummy was rippling like it did when I was expecting. Felt really big kicks. Have had chronic heartburn (over indulgence I should think) and nausea. Really bizarre but I know I'm not pregnant or could it be the 2nd immaculate conception?

Oh, and my mum has been diagnosed with sugar diabetes but have told her not to worry too much as I'm sure I can help her to manage it.

I'm waffling now so had better go. Lovely piccies of Josh. Aren't our little ones growing?

Night ladies
