Happy New Year folks!! I've been reading all your posts but haven't been able to think of much interesting to say the last few days (does she ever I hear you all say!).

Well it's new year, new start in this house. Aidan's gone in his own room tonight . We've been forced into it actually. DH did some shifting around and moved a moses basket mattress that's been languishing beside Aidan's cot. The wall behind was covered in mildew! We knew there was a mildew problem on the window (condensation), but we'd no idea the wall was damp too - we were horrified. Aidan's got such a bad cough bless him, and I'm feeling terrible in case a damp atmosphere has been making it worse. So we've moved his cot into the "nursery" (which is yet to be cleared and decorated) - touch wood he's settled OK.

Good luck to anyone back at work tomorrow. I'm going back on the 15th - not feeling quite so bad about it now. Aidan's booked into nursery for one day a week to give DH a break and chance to look for p/t work. Frumpy - is your DH looking after your LO on a permanent basis? You must let us know how he gets on.

I really hope that all the poorly LOs get better very soon. It's a rotten introduction to the world for them.

IamBlossom · 02/01/2007 08:14

morning girls, Happy new year to you all.

Well I had a hangover yesterday after two large glasses of champers and two large glasses of red. We had some friends and their kids over in the early evening but they were gone by nine and I was in bed by 111. Absolutely plastered, what a lightweight. We abandoned our special planned salmon dinner and DH cooked it last night instead very nice indeed.

Had 8 hours last night. It's so fantastic to be sleeping properly again, sorry to those that aren't... KZ, yes DS1's early waking must have been a phase (fingers crossed) but I have to say I did use a combination of tactics including your suggestion of explaining to him it was still night time and I would come and get him in the morning. At first he would just shout "Come and get me mumma!" but he does seem to have got the message.

Sitting here bouncing a gurgling thumb sucking Toby in his chair, while DS1 sits on the banbag watching Chitty Chitty Bang bang ( I know at 8am!!!) while I grab 5 mins to catch up with you lot. DH has gone fishing. Bliss. Thanks for all your DH comments, it's nice to know it's not just me. I think yesterday was particularly bad, but he was hungover and not smoking (giving up again apparently) and we went out to the seaside. But he gets soooo stressed with DS1 and I inwardly seeth about it. DS1 is starting to not want him to do bathtime etc, cos he snaps at him, and that just doubles my already unfairly laden childcare burden. Mind you I'd rather do it all than have him shout. I', making it sound worse than it is I'm sure but it is a concern - last night DH said to me "I think you get some sort of twisted satisfaction in seeing me struggle with DS1".....I mean FFS! What a thing to say! Like it's all my fault! He has got such aspirations for his boys, they are going to fish together, and play football, and be such great mates, but he can't do that yet and I really need him to understand that they are just babies and his expectations need to be moderated somewhat. God it's so hard isn't it...? Anything I say just sounds like smug criticism....

Anyway, some peace and quiet today and off out to the playground with some friends.

Good luck everyone going back to work.

Will post some pics later, Josh and Leo and Rosh are SOOOO GORGEOUS! I am sure Rosh will be back to her normal self very soon KZ, you watch...

I wasn't sure if my last post with the link was going to work! The latest pics of Zack.

Frumpy- Zack is like a weeble when he tries to sit! Hope you survived your first day back.

KZ- Yes Zack is still very active, i don't know where he gets his energy from! It's encouraging to know that 1-2 ozs from a cup is good! I really hope Roshi picks up soon she has been poorly for such a long time Gorgeous pics by the way!

wallace- That's great Leo enjoys bananas, Zack can't stand them! zack is 6 months in 2 weeks and I can't wait to offer him new foods.

Kbaby- Hope you're ok. Sounds like your DS is really on the go now! Wish Zack would crack rolling front to back, he rolls back to front evry few mins but can't get back again and shouts for help!
Yesterday Zack napped at 9am for an hour, 1.30pm for 90 mins and 5.30pm for 45 mins. Last night he went down at 9pm and woke at 1 and 4.30, a BIG improvement so I'm trying to get him to do the same napwise today. So far so good!

Impy- Hope Ryan is feeling better {{hugs}}

Ceebee- love the pics! Hope the meetup goes well.

Don- very jealous of your laptop, can't afford one just yet, we both went a bit mad in the sales

Pretty- {{hugs}} for Junior

Twinkle- Zack is moving to his own room in 2 weeks and i have mixed feelings about it

Bloss- my dp was a nightmare when he gave up smoking It's great now though, saves us a fortune, he doesn't disappear every 30 mins and he smells gorgeous!

Morning all

More fab pics-must jump to it and post some of Sophie. Have been too busy reading Amanda1's romance on Chat thread-fabulous!

Sophie seems to be sitting for ages without toppling-seemed to happen overnight.l Still no sign of rolling either way. That tummy to back roll months ago was really a one-off. She is v. sicky this morning-must be to do with my overindulgence of the Blossom Hill-feel v. upset about it now

frumpy-good luck today at work hun.

Off to take the deccos down.

Hugs

Wallace · 02/01/2007 10:09

Love the picture of Zack. LOL at weeble - Leo is the same - quite reliable until you take your eyes off for a second, then he lands on his face.

KZ - roshi is beautiful

Weaning still going well - last night had some boiled potatoes and a chew/suck on a lump of meat. He is vry enthusiastic!

maewest · 02/01/2007 10:12

Morning ladies - lots to report from chez Maewest, so exciting!

First of all, the boy has really got the hang of sitting (still a bit weeblish) and is determined to sit at every possible opportunity. Lazy lounging in the bouncy chair is on the way out I think. And secondly, he only woke once for a feed at 2am then went through until 6.30am. I went to bed at 9pm and so feeling pretty chipper this morning. But the most exciting thing of all is that he went to sleep by himself in his cot this morning . He was yawning by 7.30 (bout an hr after waking) so I put him down in his cot, reasoning that he had been fed and changed. I offered him the dummy but he spat it out, and gave him an old bandana of mine that I'd been sleeping with and that he likes to chew on (thanks for the tip Wallace). Then I got back into bed and waited - needed to set a good example you understand. There was lots of whinging, chatting, noisy thumb sucking etc, but no actually crying and after about 20 mins it had all gone quiet. At 8am I risked getting out of bed and found him fast asleep . Something has to improve as for the past couple of days he has been so hyperactive that he has screamed and screamed rather than go to sleep, before passing out unconscious on the boob and then waking up 5 mins after I take him off. Phew, sorry for long bit there, can you tell I'm pleased?

DH is still off work, so we're off to look for a highchair today. DS will be 6 months at the end of the month, so suppose I really had better get to grips with this weaning lark. The boy likes to play with a spoon and enthusiastically licks the outside of any cup that comes within range, so have ordered a doidy cup to try him with...

us - glad the sleeping is going better with Zack. How did you get him to sleep for 90 mins (or did he just do it?)

prettymum · 02/01/2007 11:54

had another bad night!!! junior woke around 4 and couldnt get back to sleep till 6am!! he has a really nasty chesty cough now aswell and pooing so much!!! cant wait for his teeth to come out! but we then slept through till 10 this morning!

junior has been sitting for a while now but still manages to fall face forward!! but no rolling yet, he did few front to back rolls and now doesnt bother any more.

Beadmum · 02/01/2007 13:45

happy new year to everyone!

much better here, charlotte still has a bit of a cold but the coughing has calmed down, thank goodness. dh and i feeling much better too, he is back to work tomorrow though

sympathies to all who are back to work soon (and already are), im planning to take the additional 6 months unpaid then only want to go back pt, maybe 2-3 days a week but will just have to see how the money situation goes, might have to go back sooner.

glad to hear others are having the fluttering feelings too, i thought i was going a bit mad

my boys

ImpyChica · 02/01/2007 14:24

GORGEOUS pics everyone! We've got such lovely babies and they're growing up so quickly. They'll all be growing mustaches and getting all burly before we know it (and that's just the girls )

Good luck to those going back to work. I found getting into a bit of a routine has been quite good for me and Ry. He seems to enjoy nursery (apart from getting every bug going...) and I quite like getting stuck into new projects.

Thanks for your hugs UsandNoSleep - Ryan seems much better now but is napping lots which makes me worry he could be sickening for something else... or maybe it's just a growth spurt (all appendages crossed)

Hugs to all.

Impy

Thanks Wallace

Mae, he was in the pram We had a long walk to the pub
I hope the success with sleeping continues!

Impy- I hope it isn't anything else he has had more than his fair share by the sounds of it!

IamBlossom · 02/01/2007 19:06

pants and socks....let me check.....sure I did!!

IamBlossom · 02/01/2007 19:08

yep, it's deffo public. Here we go again, I am truly shite at this...

working?

Ceebee74 · 02/01/2007 19:11

Bloss - can't see them either.

How cute are all the photos - the one of Zack in his hat is fab! Thanks for your lovely comments about Josh - Frumpy, I don't think he has a girlfriend yet but sons never tell their mums do they??
Wallace - I wish I could blame his football top on DH but it is me - I am an avid Chelsea fan and I am determined Josh will be too!!

Meetup was great - I had a fab time and it was lovely to sit and chat with other mums - and not cliquey at all like the mums and baby groups I have been to. Josh behaved like an angel, despite being hit in the head by a stray ball from the ball pit!

Frumpy - how did your first day go - hope it went well and you didn't miss DD too much.

KZ - hope Roshi is improving now {{{hugs}}} Am going to get Josh weighed tomorrow to see the damage his illnesses have done.

Ceebee74 · 02/01/2007 19:12

Cross-posted - absolutely gorgeous and fab socks!!

kbaby · 02/01/2007 21:26

Well I tried the extra blankets and he didn?t sleep all night but much better. He went from 9ozs at 7.30 to 6ozs at 1am and he settled straight away to 5.45am. It was even better that as DH is on hols I made him get up at 1 and do the feed. And on an even better note I took inspiration from Wallace and have tried putting him down awake tonight, I had to lay him on his side to stop him flinging his arms everywhere and scratching his head but he fell asleep all on his own in the cot.

And as everyones posting pics heres some of ours.
Josh looks fab, roshi has lovely colour hair and zack is very photogentic oh and blossom don?t your boys look alike?

I have a foot
