Great news babiecakes. Hope the head is better today.

I guess we'll all have a better pick of classes in September when they are all approaching 6 months. Scary thought!

Wineandchoccy · 14/07/2015 17:52

The HV has been today to discuss weaning, she didn't tell me anything I hadn't already read about but I got a free spoon that changes colour if the food is to hot Grin Dd was weighed and she is following the 9th centile so still only little at 10lb 10oz but gaining slowly.

I have been out today with flip flops on and just realised I have only painted 1 foots toenails, I don't think it's a trend that will catch on Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 14/07/2015 18:22

That made me laugh wineandchoccy! Be aware that those spoons are similar to those bath thermometers, a bit on the chilly side! I'm really excited about and dreading weaning!

PenguinPoser · 15/07/2015 18:21

I got some of those spoons today! Although I think like with the bath thermometers I'll just go by feel anyway. I got some good weaning stuff from the nuby factory shop today - can't believe I'll be needing it in a couple of months!!

Had a bit of a sad day yesterday - my dads partners mum died yesterday morning. Was a shock but she was over 90 but still.

I've been to the last baby massage class today - sad that that's over too! Doing a 2 week weaning class starting in 2 weeks though.

Hehe Wine that made me chuckle our loud.

I need to rear about weaning as our course isn't until September... oh and I need to book on that!

Sorry to hear your sad news Penguin. Hope your family are okay.

I really need to do the baby massage at home. I really enjoyed the class but am a bit scared about getting it wrong!

Thanks ladies.

FiRaffe I really wouldn't worry about getting the massage wrong. From what they were saying at the end of my course you can use it opportunistically for example if baby's leg is hanging down when feeding or cuddling do a few massage strokes - don't have to be in correct order or anything.

It sounds like you're doing the right things babiecakes. Your supply will soon be exactly what your dd needs.

Well we had weigh in - and at exactly 4 months did weighs 10lb 14oz! So still petite but perfectly following her line. Think she's just destined to be small but as she's gaining adequately I'm happy. That's 1lb5oz she's gained in the last 4 weeks!

I'm back in the 2am club Sad

Sorry for your loss PenguinPoser! Dh's dad was similar very old but no signs of problems and then just gone, it's tough Sad also sorry for your 2am wake! We've been getting earlier and earlier the last week and then he woke at 4.45 today. I went down and moved him as he'd managed to wedge his head against the side of the cot and it was obviously uncomfortable. He went back to sleep thankfully and woke at 7 so hopefully back to a slightly later wake. Well done on weight gain Smile

I agree FiRaffe, you can't get the massage wrong just do a bit when you have time doesn't have to be whole body every time.

Don't fret about weaning babiecakes11. It's fun! Baby led weaning is fab and annabel karmel has done awesome books. A lot of her recipes later in her books can be eaten by the whole family too so cook a meal, chop up for toddler and purée/mash for baby Smile

We're off to the sedation clinic today, have told do all the things I want to ask in case I forget any and then we wait for the 29th July Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 16/07/2015 07:28

Should be some awesome books and told dh what I want to ask!

FiRaffe · 16/07/2015 08:00

Thanks ladies. Great idea about some bits when feeding etc

I've been given an Annabel Karmel baby weaning book and a blender. I was planning a mix anyway so that's handy (especially after how much I spent on prime day!!!!)

Hope all goes well today cinnamon

cinnamongreyhound · 16/07/2015 08:28

My favourite book is the top 100 purees but recipes are repeated across quite a few books.

I think that's the one we've been given but i'm currently trapped under a windy, sleeping baby so can't check. Hopefully the few farts will have cleared enough to ensure he sleeps.

I got an Annabel karmel book last time but don't think I ended up using it

cinnamongreyhound · 17/07/2015 07:27

Yesterday was so manic I didn't get around to posting. Had hospital then we needed some things from tesco, then ds2's forest schools activity on the afternoon, school run, gymnastics, preschool committee meeting and collapse! The Dr was lovely and went through if it was possible not to sedate, I had to be honest and there's not way I could say that after a feed sam will sleep reliably and stay that way, so sedation it is. It's oral and takes half an hour to work and the effects last up to 4 hours. He will just be in a deeper sleep than normal and breathe by himself. A nurse will be with him and he'll be monitored closely. I have to fast him for 3 hrs before so will probably need to wake him to feed so we e had long enough before. They've had no breathing difficulties in the 3 years they've been sedating children there which is the only major side effect. They even showed us the scanning room which has removed a little stress too. Now we just wait!

Blimey cinnamon you had a busy day yesterday, I'm glad the hospital visit has explained the sedation to you and made you feel a little less stressed about it.

dd has just slept for 12 hours for the 1st time but is now sucking so hard at my boobs, ouch!

PenguinPoser · 17/07/2015 08:36

Totally know how your feel babiecakes! Guess we have the 4 month babies Wink I've been taking her in my bed once it gets to 5am if she's still unsettled. Typical that she's actually still asleep there now when I'm up. Had a bit of a meltdown last night and a cry to DH but he's great and looks after me. If this is an ongoing thing I might get him to do an ebm feed at the weekend overnight. Really looking forward to his week off that starts in a weeks time too. He's had no time off since his paternity leave which ended 15 weeks ago. Yesterday I didn't get out as dd was being very clingy and fussy and I had hurt my back. So felt quite lonely (apart from our FB group!) until DH came in. Need to find something to do today to prevent that happening again. Typically it's raining though.

Pleased the hospital were able to provide some reassurance cinnamon. It might be hard to fast a baby for 3 hours but at least it's not like a general anaesthetic or anything.

I also have a BLW book but not sure if I'm going to use it. Might do a combo approach. I had a cold apple cut into slices yesterday and I let her chew at it a bit (obv she didn't actually eat any) but she seemed to like it. She's nearly 18 weeks now so not planning on weaning for a while yet but don't mind if she samples a couple of flavours!

Glad it was successful cinnamon and could your mind at ease.

I feel so sorry for your regression babies, I will keep my fingers crossed that DS doesn't get it! He loves his sleep and so do I!

Babiecakes... Sending massive hugs and Flowers. Has anything happened to make you feel worse? I'm not saying there has to be though - often these things happen for no clear reason. I'm pleased you have been to the GP and have numbers to call if you need to. I think you really need your OH to help out at night if things are this bad he simply has to. Keep talking on here if you want to and if it helps.

I yet again have a slightly grumpy baby who won't go to sleep. She has been better today in herself but still no naps.
