I found all attempts to entertain were met with indifference for a while Dulcet. He'll like the sound of your voice if you want to talk or read aloud?

I'm avoiding the FSOT boards like the plague. I can't afford anymore! I did go looking earlier to see if I could identify a natibaby wrap I bought recently and found myself googling exchange rates for the euro! Slaps wrist. Think I've found the pattern but it wasn't released in the colour I have so it must have been dyed at some point. Not sure how that affects the resale value.

JuniDD · 23/07/2015 17:48

dulcet he might like black and white pictures but can't really see properly. He will like your and Mrd's voices so talking and singing. just enjoy not having to be entertaining!

So, my mum who is an HV has suggested not letting her have an afternoon nap and attempting bedtime at 7. This flies in the face of everything I have read but she is surprisingly ok still awake (woke from nap at 1pm) and eating crumpet crumbs. I will report back. I feel naughty not getting her to have an afternoon nap, but equally she needs more night sleep and I need to watch something that's not flipping waybuloo!

Dulcet a LC will come to the house, though you will have to pay. Happy to do some research on people in your area if it helps. I didn't get to a be group til she was 14 weeks. Didn't leave the house alone til she was six weeks (alone with her). No need to rush it though it's a balance with avoiding cabin fever.

Ah I just love that you have some semblance of a nap routine Juni. This one has had 45 minutes all day.

Ah leave the house by myself with the baby? That was definitely weeks first time round. Probably to go to breastfeeding group when she was 5/6 weeks.

WilHarlot · 23/07/2015 18:16

No idea why both sentences start with 'Ah'.

ZylaB · 23/07/2015 18:17

H has had 2 naps of 30mins all fucking day.... I walked her I. The pram for over an hour and a half earlier and only got 30mins out of her. She's so tired she's just crumbling, screeching or crying but she won't bloody sleep! I have no idea what to do grrrr

RPopz · 23/07/2015 19:24

Haha, go miniscoob!! Grin

Sounds logical juni but how are you supposed to stop the overtired rages from the missing nap!?

Do you have an NHS bf support worker Dulce? They'd do home visits on request I think?

Slingwise I have: a close caboo - not used in yonks as minipopz quickly outgrew! An Ergobaby for long walks and Daddy carries. A ring sling which I can't really get to grips with and may sell.... A standard connecta and now a solarweave connecta - which again I may flog on if its not significantly cooler than the standard.

I think you're ok to use stretchies after a section (caboo/ hanababy etc) Dulcet but you'd be best off going to a sling library and getting an expert to help Smile Plenty of time anyway.

YY to making the most of not having to be entertaining!! Though 24-7 boob cuddles must provide some level of entertainment.

Minipopz has been properly getting on his hands and knees and rocking backwards and forwards today.... he's going to crawl soon and LIFE AS WE KNOW IT WILL BE OVER... Waaaah.

RPopz · 23/07/2015 19:25

Has anyone here got a playpen?

cookielove · 23/07/2015 20:14

Rpopz are living room is one giant playpen Grin

JuniDD · 23/07/2015 20:18

I use a travel cot as a playpen. She's generally quite happy to go in it.

She went down at 7.30 and I was fantasising about what violence/swear/sex ridden film I was going to watch. I tidied the kitchen for 20 mins and she bloody woke up. No movies for me then. I guess her dropping off at all is a bit of a win? No idea. She didn't seem to miss the nap, surprisingly and hoping she'll go down in an hour or so. Ha.

WilHarlot · 23/07/2015 20:20

No my house isn't really big enough. Like Cookie, I kind of used the living room as a playpen last time but that won't work with a toddler. Micro is showing no signs of being at that stage anyway. Think she'll be a talker not a walker.

Niffertiti · 23/07/2015 21:13

Graduated graduate viroids: an appeal for your help and wisdom. Firstly you have to imagine yourself in a situation where at 28 weeks pregnant you are planning to move to a hot country far far away, where they don't sell baby equipment. You can ship certain essential baby equipment to the country - it will arrive a month or two after you give birth. Beyond the obvious lists of stuff for newborns, what are the things you couldn't do without for the first year? Things which made your life much easier? Things you didn't realise you'd need until baby started teething/weaning/rolling etc?

I am in the above situation and trying to work out what the hell to send out. The limited amount of baby equipment available in the country does neatly illustrate the point that babies really actually require very little stuff. However I see no reason to make life more difficult than it absolutely needs to be.

All suggestions gratefully received!

Niffertiti · 23/07/2015 21:14

Hope you don't mind me pooping over from the grads thread btw. Only 16 weeks so it'll be a while til I have a legitimate reason to join you Grin

PixieChops · 23/07/2015 21:22

Sorry that everyone's babies are being utterly shite at sleeping. R at 5 weeks old fights sleep all the time and it drives me insane! There's no need for it, just like his bloody sister.
I was lucky on Tuesday night, he was awake for a total of a half an hour. Two 15 minute feeds of 6oz and he slept for 4 hours either side. I felt amazing, after hearing how he was last night at the grandparents I seriously think Tuesday evening was a fluke. Apparently he was awake most of the night and they got little to no sleep.
I've noticed with a newborn I don't get to sit on mumsnet very often anymore so forgive me with not being able to keep up!
Great news on the house Tee and thanks Mini moo for your helpful anger directed at my shitty doctors Envy
I've bought R some hypo allergenic milk off Amazon, it's not arrived yet but going to try him on it and see if his colic, rash, general hate of being on earth clears up.
BrewBrew To all you tired viroids,it does help coming on here and seeing everyone in the same boat. I always sit there and think "is it just me". I do struggle a lot with my 14 month old as well now because she's just so active all day. She's also getting to the stage where everything is hers and she doesn't want to share. Literally had to break up fights this week where she's been slapping other children in the fa e because they've been playing with toys she wants Blush its so embarrassing but I guess (I hope) that all children go through this stage, just she seems to be going through it sooner than other children. Terrible twos have started already Confused

RPopz · 23/07/2015 21:23

Hi niff! Where are you going??? If you can say Smile

Um... Sling/ carrier, dribble bibs, teething toy eg Sophie the giraffe or similar, metric fuck tonnes of muslin clothes, white noise toy, little pots/ ice cube trays for portions of puree or little snacks, bouncing chair/bumbo/Galt playring thing for when they get a bit more independent, JUMPEROO! Grin

RPopz · 23/07/2015 21:23

*muslin cloths

Niffertiti · 23/07/2015 21:31

Thanks popz! I'm mega excited about the jumperoo so I'll take your word as an excuse to go straight out and buy one.

We're moving to South East Asia - I won't name the country on here as it is public but my bump pic on the grads FB page gives it away!

WilHarlot · 23/07/2015 22:06

Do you mean little stuff too or just big equipment Niff?

We don't use much really: bouncer, playmat, sling/carrier is the only equipment I can think of. Food blender and storage pots if that counts. Oh maybe you want either a breastpump or perfect prep depending on feeding choice. You'd also need some form of steriliser.

Small necessities: a million bibs and muslins, toys for them to grab and roll, sleeping bags or maybe it'll be too hot for those? Do you need a mosquito net? White noise toy or just app on tablet.

We really don't use much else. When they get a bit bigger, those activity tables are quite good although I've never actually owned one.

RPopz · 23/07/2015 22:07

Ah I will go and look Wink

Jumperoo's are ludicrously expensive so worth waiting for an Amazon lightening deal. They do seem to sell for £50+ second hand though and they are definitely worth it for 10 minutes peace once a day Grin Grin

JuniDD · 23/07/2015 22:17

hi niff I vote for high chair and travel cot. Now she can sit the high chair is a bloody godsend and I plonk her in for all sorts, not just meals. Travel cot is ace for having up in the living room to act as playpen/cot/babyjail/toy storage in the evenings (when we had them). Changing table? A lot of people don't use them and I hadn't planned to but after a...challenging birth I could not get to the floor or bend over the bed for some time. For weaning I vote for tommee tippee spoons that change colour if food's too hot. All the little bits like cot sheets etc. Depends how much you like shopping!

SHE IS STILL AWAKE.

OP posts:
PixieChops · 23/07/2015 22:33

How long has she been awake for Juni?! I'm excited because it's OHs night tonight so I get a proper sleep, hurray!!!

RPopz · 23/07/2015 22:50

Can also recommend a kindle for nightfeeds. And WINE.

Pisghetti · 23/07/2015 23:48

I used a travel cot as a playpen for DS and intend to for this one too once she can sit up (probably not for a while yet).

Definitely recommend getting a sling for the early days - particularly if the pavements will make life difficult with a pushchair. I got a jumperoo for £15 second hand - Gumtree or FB selling pages. She's not quite big enough yet but I'm looking forward to when she is! I didn't use a changing table first time around and didn't miss it but now I have one I wonder how I managed without....

ZylaB · 24/07/2015 01:49

Hey niff I second a sling (lightweight or just for aircon places if it's hot hot!) and jumparoo, H loves ours, they are expensive though, but ours is on loan from my SIL and she got it second hand off ebay so they don't neeed to be too much :)

Minion · 24/07/2015 06:04

Can you get gin delivered to your bed?
I need it.
Shit night number 3 and still the bastard tooth hasn't wormed it's way out.

niff sun shade for pram is a must. They can't see anything for weeks and sun still pisses R off if it's in her eyes
Sudocrem for bum everything
Snufflebabe/anbesol /infant calpol and neurofen
Colic drops/gripe water/ baby gaviscon just in case
Lightweight stroller/pram/travel system
Baby monitor
Dummies, fuck load of them. Attached to a sleepytot
