DD had 3rd injections yesterday. Were much better than last lot. Nurse seemed to know what she was doing much better than last tiem. What a relief.

heehee! the raspberry/food blowing isn't just dd then? Oh good! I'm starting a new fashion craze.. I call is the splattered look. Usually in shades of green or orange!

just adding to say... WOWO your LO says dada? Mine says ffffffffffffffffff! or oooooooooooooooooooo! She's too busy working out how to move at the moment to be bothered with words... it comes and goes. Somethimes she sheems to be concentrating on "saying" stuff... ie making a racket and other times on getting to the TV remote to eat it or swipe your food of your plate! I'd be unsuprised if her first word wasn't "mug" as she's well obsessed with them at the moment. have to keep them well out of reach.

Hi all, been busy so lurking but no posting recently! DD is now 6 and a half months - no teeth yet, but much drooling and rosy cheeks. She can roll from front to back, and back to front, and fairly manages to cover some ground given a clear run...problem is when she gets stuck in a corner and isn't quite able yet to manoeuvre herself out of it! She can't really sit for too long, and there's no way there's anything approaching words coming from her! She is really vocal though, and I've noticed that she's especially noisy on days when her brother's away!

Looking forward to Christmas - big family get together with my parents, brother, granny and PIL - and I don't have to cook .

DS is getting totally hyper about the whole thing, even though he doesn't really understand what's going to happen on the big day. He was up last night at about 3am informing me that he looked up in sky and Santa was there in a funny car....Santa visited our village in model T Ford on Sunday (because the reindeer are getting ready for Xmas Eve, you understand...). Flippin' eck there's another week of this, was all I could think.

Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely festive when it comes.

trinity1 · 19/12/2006 18:55

oh yes, and I forgot to add, DD is totally addicted to a programme called 'Pocoyo' Its unbelieveable! When its on, she shrieks and kicks her legs all excitedly. The other day DP stood in front of the TV whilst it was on....now he wishes he hadn't - all hell broke loose. DD screamed for ages!! Keeps her quiet when he's not standing in the way though. 10 mins a day only.

DP and I took her swimming for the first time the other day too so she wouldn't be afraid of water later in life. Highly recommmend it to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. xx

RachelPross · 20/12/2006 18:39

Advice needed please! DD is now very good at rolling over onto her tummy but isn't able to roll back. She's started rolling in her cot at night and then crying in desperation when she wakes up on her tummy unable to turn back over. So have had 2 or 3 very broken nights sleep and am feeling v fraught (especially as I also have PMT)
Any ideas how I can either stop her turning at night or teach her how to roll back?
No news on the specialist's appointment yet, DH and I are concentrating on Christmas and we're planning a house move for early spring (if our house sells soon...fingers crossed!) so very busy! Also looking for work as have decided that supply teaching is not terribly practical as far as child care arrangements are concerned.
Had an xmas party today at Mums and toddlers group, the look on the little ones' faces when santa arrived was fab. can't wait till next year when DD will know what is happening.

alibobble · 20/12/2006 20:30

(((rachelpross))) I'm was dreading this with dd as she rolled onto her front but couldn't get back... but now she can. I went through a fortnight of trying to cook tea and her doing it but at least I only had to put down what i was doing and turn her (like am million times) and didn't have to get out of bed. Does LO sleep in a gro bag? Can they turn while in that too? I'm afraid once dd hits the sack she's gone for the count and doesn't hardly move. I hope someone has some answers for you as broken nights after you're used to your sleep is a killer. DD has BAD cold and was up 9.30pm, 2.30am and 5am last night then up for the day at 7.30! ARG! she's normally a 7-7 baby and I'm now a 10-7 mummy!

ladyschaefer · 21/12/2006 09:25

RachaelPross:- My advice would be to get 2 large blankets roll them up into sausage shapes and put one either side of your LO and possibly raise the mattress slightly at the top end, my sister did this to stop her LO turning and it worked well.

foxymagoo · 21/12/2006 11:39

Also think that grobags help keep them from turning in the cot. DS is now in the 6-18 months size and its quite heavy - he can still put his legs in the air and turn on his side but not right the way over - well not yet...

The latest development in our house is that ds can stand leaning on to his stool/couch/my knee ! He is so chuffed by his new big boy status but downside is he doesn't want to roll/sit up/do anything else and keeping him amused is quite challening!

Is anyone else's lo's doing this? Do you think he will still crawl? My DH always tells me that he never crawled just walked at 9 months (I always thought he was telling porkies!).

I'm now off work for 2 weeks - yippee! Altho' I was only back 3 weeks (2 days a week) so don't feel I've really 'earned' my hols - hmmm.

alibobble · 21/12/2006 17:25

wow, standing? thought dd might do this a while ago but she's put on loads of weight and seems to struggle more to support herself... or maybe because she's learned to sit she feels no need to do anything else yet!

i get dds food on prescription aqs it's LF and just stocking up... at the moment i have 7 tins in the cupboard... but they are only half size ones so she gets through them in 2-3 days! muncher that she is!

foxymagoo · 23/12/2006 18:30

Just brought home ds's present bag from his granny and grandpa's - I swear I could sit in it its so big! And they said they would only be getting him a 'few things'- I've had to rearrange the furniture next to the tree!

Merry Christmas everyone - get those camerasat the ready!

alibobble · 24/12/2006 20:59

What's everyone lese doing on Christmas eve... I've been mopping up baby sick! DD projectile vomited 7oz milk all over bedroom carpet! Ooops! She hasn't slept through for a week now because of teething and I'm starting to look like a panda. Got told today it was my comeupance because dd was such a good sleeper as a tiny little one. I swear, she's woken more in the last few nights than she did as a newborn. Never mind. Here goes for tonight! We shall see... will it be 11, 1.30, 5am? Hope not!

Hope you all have a great day tomorrow.

hi everyone. have my checkup with the HV today. Am really glad as I'm starting to look like a zombie. dd hasn't slept through for 2 weeks now and the other night screamed from 4-6am! Last night was just 15 mins of crying at 2.30 and I didn't have to go in so maybe things are getting better. that said I was visiting my mum and as I was putting dd down to sleep she vomited her entire feed plus tea (so acidic!) all over me, the floor and my hair (which my sis had just straightened for me!) this has been happening loads recently. Anyone any advice? :s I don't understand why she would suddenly start vomiting when she never did as a tiny baby?

hope everyone had a good new year.

vbab78 · 02/01/2007 09:21

alibobble - Sorry to hear about DD. Unfortunately I don't know what it is. My DS only wakes in the night and sometimes crying because of teething.

My nephew had some problem where he would always fetch up feeds but I think he had that from day 1. At least you are seeing the HV today.

----
We have had a lovely xmas with DS. However he got a truck load of pressies and only plays with a couple and that is when you put them near him! His favorite present by far is his baby walker which he bounces around the living room in. We have had to be careful what we leave around now. My DH has got this bad habit of leaving clothes on the dining chairs. I caught DS trying to pull the clothes off which of course meant he would of pulled the heavy chair onto himself!

Me and DH being the sad people we are spent 12 midnight new years eve sat on the floor of DS room with a bottle of champagne so we could celebrate the New Year with him .

foxymagoo · 02/01/2007 09:29

HNY everyone !

Sorry to hear you've been through the mire alibobble - could it be your dd has developed some food intolerance? The HV should hopefully have some answers...

We've all had the lurgy up here - ds had croup, dh cold (man flu of course) and me another chest infection making my asthma v. unbearable so not much sleep for any of us. I was in bed at 8.30pm on Hogmany - not done that since @ 1974!

DS loved his presents - especially his chunky wooden train and Winnie the Pooh activity table. Need to try and establish some sort of rotation as its just a sea of toys!

Plibble · 02/01/2007 09:57

Hi all and happy new year!

Alibobble - I am sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time of it. It does sound like it could be some sort of food intolerance. I hope it sorts itself out soon.

Everything is fine here. Mini-plibble is learning new tricks all the time and can now roll herself from one end of the living room to the other. She also seems to be crawling backwards, but not forward, so a lot of getting stuck in corners goes on.

She's started to babble in a more "meaningful" way too. A few weeks ago I went into her room and she held out her arms and said "mumumumumum" which of course inspired me to take her shopping and buy presents... And then yesterday her father came into the room and she said "dada". I'm sure that both are pure coincidence, but it makes us just melt.

I'm going back to work full time in a few weeks and so then Mini-Plibble will be going to nursery every day. I am excited but really nervous and am frantically trying to devise ways to get back across London as quickly as I can so that we have at least a full hour together in the evenings. I'm only 8 miles from work, but it takes the best part of an hour - perhaps I need a scooter! I'm just hoping that Mini-Plibble doesn't get sent home all the time. So far she has been to nursery 5 times and last time I had to pick her up early as she had "suspected conjunctivitis". It took a week for the gunk to clear, so I am starting to think I will only be able to go to work occasionally anyway!

blobsmummy · 02/01/2007 10:29

A very happy new year to you and your littlies!

DD had a very enjoyable Christmas and wanted to open her presents all by herself, so we spread it out over 5 days and she loved it! Poor thing developed a bad chesty cough and cold for the big day. She can do the most beautiful snot bubbles though!

Foxymagoo - our dd can stand now aswell. It started last week and she can now last quite a long time on her feet - her favourite thing being holdng onto the sofa and pummeling the cushions!

DD's latest development started 2 days ago when she was standing up (with us holding her hands) - she started to walk! You should see her face - she's so chuffed with herself - and so are we! Although she's very wobbley, she can do a couple of laps of the front room at quite a pace, and this morning when she did it she was so much stronger. She's started to want to really explore and is walking to bits of the front room that she's never been to before. I'm a very proud mummy!

Alibobble - hope things take a turn for the better soon.x

trinity1 · 03/01/2007 14:18

Happy New Year to everyone and our 6-7 month olds!

Will be splitting my time between here and the due in September thread as DP and I discovered on New Years Day that we're expecting our second baby! . Definitely not planned and we're both stunned and terrified as I was on the pill but took antibiotics for a virus. Its starting to sink in.

So by the end of this year I'll have 2 children under twos!

RachelPross · 03/01/2007 15:32

Congrats Trinity! Thats great news.

Alibobble - I totally understand as I've had what feels like weeks of broken sleep when am used to DD sleeping through. She's also recently started screaming for no reason in the night and is inconsolable sometimes. Didn't know what to do with her last night. We've even reverted to doing a night feed as I'm that desperate for sleep!!! Don't know how I'll cope when I have to go into work if she doesn't start sleeping thru again soon!

Hope your LO is OK alibobble!

foxymagoo · 03/01/2007 18:29

Congrats Trinity!

Have you read Jools Oliver's book? Her dd's are 13 months apart and her book goes into all the doing it again so soon stuff really well (she calls the night her 2nd dd was conceived the 'lamb casserole bonk'!).

RachelPross - I wonder if the night terrors are due to lo's brains maturing and the start of bad dreams??

DS has developed bad rash on face again. He seems to get it whenever new food is introduced. He took fish today for the first time at his granny's and loved it - ok so it was smothered in cheese sauce but still! He has started having tantrums at his lunchtime feed and we're not having much luck in trying to drop his milk from this feed yet - any tips? He does take his water to begin with but screams for his milk later on...

Sorry for mega post, I was at work today so my fingers are all warmed up from replying to loads of emails!

Plibble · 03/01/2007 21:42

Congratulations Trinity! That's lovely news. .

We have had much excitement here. Mini-Plibble has finally managed forwards motion after two weeks of crawling backwards and getting stuck in corners. She looked very pleased with herself and I had a little tear in my eye - I am one very proud mummy! And it turns out that she will eat food other than fruit afterall. As long as it is chicken, albeit mixed with fruit!

Weaning is turning out to be a bit of a pain. I had bad asthma and ezema as a child, both triggered by cow's milk, and so am cooking without milk for Mini-Plibble. I'm not sure how long I want to keep her off milk - no more than a year- but would hate to give up because I had run out of ideas for things to cook! The problem is that some things, especially fish, are more likely to be paletable to her if they are covered in a cheese sauce. I'm not going to give her soy either, because I have been advised that it is best avoided if possible. So if anyone has any ideas for protein meals that I could make, they would be very gratefully received!

vbab78 · 04/01/2007 09:28

Congrats Trinity! I would love to have a second child so close but I know for us its not the right time.

Money is a big factor especially when in the first month of the year me and DH have had to pay out approx £800 to get our car fixed and buy a new washing machine! I'm going back to work at the beginning of March, don't want to, but we need the pennies. On a good note though if I go back to work I would be entitled to 39 weeks SMP if anything did happen!

alibobble · 04/01/2007 10:13

dd doing much better now. HV says it was the combination of Christmas (routine ->window!) and her being poorly so she hasn't eaten properly for 2 weeks. last night she slept through for the first time in 2 weeks. Hurray! and that was clearly because she had enough to eat in the day. have had a few nights of hovering in the bathroom thinking... will she go back to sleep?.... maybe?.... sometimes did sometimes didn't.

Rachelpross: hope your LO starts sleeping better again soon. It's horrid isn't it?

Congrats Trinty: v scary but hope things work out. Was starting to wonder myself after 36days but has most awful PMT so thought it must be ok!

Plibble: dd also on a milk free diet though due to lactose not milk intolerance. She happily ate tuna without sauce sop maybe worth a try? Dunno. What about lentils etc for protein? HV said dd (6 1/2 mth) can have pretty much anything we eat now so that's good (not pate or vindaloo obviously)Tried her with baked beans as she loved them. HV said ok so long as not every day and try to use low salt/sugar ones. I made a lovely ham brocoli and lentil soup the other day and dd wolfed it. Could give you recipe if you like? Not sure apart from that.

dd still burping up and smells SO acidic. is this from weaning or is it someting else? asked HV and she said if it was a stomach prob she'd have seen it earlier.

OP posts:
alibobble · 04/01/2007 15:06

Foxy: dd did the screaming for milk thing with lunch and if i waited till 11.30/12 to give lunch and tried to give half a feed then she would wolf the lot and not be hungry for solids. Now give her 4oz much ealier like 11am despite finishing breakfast at 8.30 (we do bottle 7.30, breakfast 8am) and then she'll have that and happily wait for lunch at 11.45am. Also dd started being really difficult to feed when I cut back on morning nap so I started letting her sleep a bit longer in the AM and cut back lunch sleep to compensate and that has worked great for us and means she's not falling asleep as she's getting to be hungry enough to eat lunch and goes down more like 12.30/1pm rather than 12am and trying to squeeze lunch in in a rush. HTH.

hi ladies, may i join this thread, ds now 6+ months born 23/06/06 always wanted a boy after conceiving dd now 6 years old, both thru sub-fertility treatments, lost loads of weight now better than ever before, life that is, ds has a slight cold, but dd (2nd mummy) always on hand with the calpol or tissues. DS is sleeping thru the nights and is soooooo cute I bf until 2 weeks ago when ds bit my boobs and caused serious damage, he has 2 rather sharp teeth. DH spent 3 hours trying to give him a bottle, but no he wud not take to it, so DH put DS to bed and let him cry himself to bed and I was sobbing downstairs, milk pouring out of me like a bottle. Still by lunchtime the next day all was well and DS took 4 oz like crazy gulping and must of thought "hey this stuff ain't too bad", whilst I was still feeling guilty, even though he bit me..... speak to u all soon no doubt

foxymagoo · 04/01/2007 19:53

thanks alibobble - milk at 11am sounds like a plan!

Welcome malinki - hope the boobs aren't too sore! I only bf for 3 months - was planning on doing it for longer but ds went on a boob strike (mega long story won't bore you with it here) I stopped bfing cold turkey overnight - had one uncomfortable day of mega boobs but fine after that. He loves his bottles more than he ever loved bfeeding - the cheek - must be a leg not a breast man!
